What Do You Think of the Night Life Event Prizes?

It should not be an "event" IMO. Slot machines on Nar Shadda should just be available to play all year long.

Little side games like that and pazzak would be a great addition to the game overall. Mini-Games...We could have so many of them and have titles and achievements for doing them.

Heck even that game they play on Ord Mantell where crazy people run through mine fields...Toss in repeatables and few rewards and it would be fun little time waster when we are in que for something or just want to do something different.

A lets not forget swoop races from KOTOR, that should certainly be a thing.

I remember playing this around 3.0.. back when on a good day I could get around 50k a toon on dailies. I dropped 1.1million and scored exactly 1 certificate. Pretty sure I still have it stuffed in a vault somewhere as there was, at the time nothing to buy with it. The cheapest thing was 2. After that I never went near it again. Hey let's watch a glowing wedge go around and announce you won.. another token.. the most common result. Or congrats you won... a high quality token...

Maybe some of the prices are nice. That stack of money in the bank vault does too.. And I'm about equally close to taking either home.

For me, a first timer, it was a surprisingly enjoyable experience aftervall the ************ of my guildies about how taxing it is. Spent 900k and got 12 golden certificates and the bigger Vectron mount. I even had 3 kingpin coins spare left. I said I call it a day. It's important to be casual about it ... the decorations are nice and the chance for a +1 unique comp is also good to have. Edited by Dzsewdow

Yip, have to agree this event is just meh...

As MMO events go . this has to rank in the top 1 of the most poorly presented and most boring.

To spend even 15mins mouse clicking repeatedly and watch that basic little graphic move round ... totally lame.

The Cartel pack opening is more fun to watch than this half baked idea of fun.

The rewards are fine... the first time you get them, then the reality of repeatability hits all to soon except most if not all are BtL if I recall.

It is nothing more than a credit sink plain and simple with a heavily weighted RNG system.. that much is obvious but not the main issue... the sheer lack of creativity and fun is the issuel, but that's my opinion..

I guess I would rather go run clock tower in GW2, at least it gives some element of skill to the event.. or Mad King for a bit of light hearted fun and a little more entertaining fetch quests.... Nightlife Event maybe better being called Nightnurse... aimed at helping players sleep :)

Agreed.

This event boils down to a click fest resulting in a massive money sink and additional training so everyone can get more familiar with the terrible RNG this game has been pushing.

As events go yea, its pretty bad at offering fun or entertainment.

I like all of the new decos, the new mount and the companion and would quite like them. I had 16 golden certs squirreled away after playing the old version very casually. I never got the rancor and would like to buy it just for the achievement, so I need a lot of golden certs to buy what I want.

So I plan on spending a fair bit of coin to get my shinies, and ended up with horrible luck. I got 4 certs with 75 tokens, and then I made the huge mistake of buying a stack of 25 kingpin tokens when I meant to buy a stack of regular tokens. So I bought 25 more regular tokens so I could keep the "feeling lucky" buff up. And I got absolutely nothing for that nearly 2 million credit mistake. Not even one gold certificate.

I did not know the quest was daily, so I might just roll through my vast army of alts and see how I do with the free tokens. At least I won't feel like I was flushing money down the toilet that way. :(

although i play since day one i really never did this nightlife event.

But now there is the gamorean companion and for a star wars lore fan, i just need to have one.

this prize just makes this event interesting, the other prizes are useless imao. they don't worth to lose time and money.

Yeah.. they did a good job making the top prize a Gamorean Companion. That's a big draw, along with the decorations and a few other items that can be purchased with certificates. Same with making the Rancor a certificate purchasable item for those looking to complete the achievement.

In general they did a nice refresh on the items for this event return. If they had not done that.. most of us would have probably blown off the event entirely since most veterans already had most of what they wanted from the last time the event ran.

But I really do not get these sorts of threads. A new event comes on line, you look at what it offers and if what is offered is of interest or value to you the player. If so.. you play. If not.. you move on. Threads like this rarely gain any broad consensus about an event in game.... so asking what everyone thinks about the prizes is just going to end up in a circular battle on the forum.

Aside from slot machines being boring and having 0 tactics other than doing the math and pray to rngeesus you're not getting shafted this year, my only true complaint is that the Vectron BWL Wraith should've been a vendor prize.

A reskin with some minor flourish as one of the top prizes when one of the new mounts, the Pearlescent Cruiser is a more unique model strikes me as odd. Sure previous mounts were Vectrons, but we already had so many Vectron crap this year from packs i'm getting sick of seeing anything they make.

Since the day SWTOR went live I've always been anticipating a new rendition of KOTOR's Pazaak. It was a fun side game inside KOTOR usually found in any cantina. Over at http://pazaak.org/ they have stayed faithful to the original even including that cool background music.

The slot machine types being all the same is indeed a bit dull but I think the producers really missed the bus when deciding to prioritize story based expansion over side games you can do in the game as that was a huge contributor to KOTOR's reputability.

Whoa, wait! The dance floor does something? <rushes to go try it out> Somehow I didn't notice this, although I had a blast playing with the microphone. I really like the prizes this year. They will go great in the Nar Shaddaa cantina in my stronghold, and at one point I even asked for a microphone in a suggestions thread. So...perfect!

I don't expect to win any of the kingpin jackpots though since I've played this event every year it's come through and never won anything other than certs. I'm not a gambler though, which is probably why. I rarely spend that much and my goal is to get the certs I need to buy things off the vendor and then I stop. Real casinos would hate me I'm sure. :p

Spent 300K last night and got 4 certs for it. I do get a bit bummed when I hear about people getting better prizes than me for less money. It would be nice someday to actually win a jackpot, but oh well.

Yes, you jump on a square and it makes you dance one of the in game dances. Each square has a different dance it seems. :D

If your character clicks on the dancefloor deco (there are some at the casino as well) it will trigger random dance animations that last for 60 seconds or so, unless interrupted. There a few different dance emotes it cycles through with each click. There is at least one animation that I don't think is an actual emote in the game yet.

I've seen three different dance animations so far that are not currently emotes in the game: the Uma Thurman dance from Pulp Fiction, John Travolta in Saturday Night Fever, and one cha-cha-cha-like dance with a little spin and chest shake on women. I'm hoping we see them as new dance emotes in the near future!

The dances you get are random, and it doesn't seem to matter where on the floor you click. I was trying to find a pattern so I could capture screenshots/recordings of the new dances but I couldn't consistently find a spot that triggered the new dance animations.

Try out the sample in the Casino. Same for the microphone. :)

I had fun. I didn't spend very much for the first night, but I played in between WZs and got a couple golden tickets after spending about $160k. I don't care too much about the mounts or companion, but the decos are more than enough motivation for me. The dance floor deco is fantastic - gonna need multiples of that one for sure. My plan is to keep at it slow and steady, funding as I go from dailies, etc.

The rewards are alright. I really just want the Rancor. I said yesterday that I was done but after a semi successful night on the gtn I changed my mind and will try to grind out the certificates for the Rancor. If I wind up getting the companion along the way, it's a bonus.
