  1. My general take on an APAC server is too late. Being located in East Asia I'd prefer it. My lag rates are horrible. But I have so much invested into Shan that there's no practical way to move everything. Sure I could move individual characters, but a 12+ character legacy... um no. Sadly I expect I'm not alone. So basically it will be a few night owls and the old veterans left. Makes me wonder why I continue to subscribe.
  2. Credit wise I think the quick travel costs are annoying, but I can live with them for now. But for new players they can be brutal, especially in places where you HAVE to use it like Tatooine. To be fairer to the non 80 characters Maybe set it at X value times a level calculation so a level 5 might use it free but a level 80 might pay 2400. Also, making crafting actually worthwhile might reduce costs. Not just gear. instead of having to get fabricators and what not make some stronghold decorations directly craft able... X banner needs some resources and maybe a few credits. And lastly on money, Make something I want to spend them on. That 15 million on Dantooine... it seemed too much at once. The casino was less a money sink and more a time sink for rewards I have 12 of. Maybe a temp vendor selling cosmetics like emotes, basic color dyes, titles, or gag gifts. (drop a bomb and everyone turns purple.. like the glitter and snowflakes) If nothing else how about a money tree for new players. Characters under level 10 can go to a certain spot on the starter world and do something and get like 50,000 credits that someone donated. I've thought about just going to Korriban or Tython and randomly trading credits to nnobies but I was afraid I'd get pegged and a gold spammer. GTN wise It might have already been suggested but with the prices and lots of junk to wade through, I don't usually bother. So having negative search filters would really help. "blue -dye" Having wildcards like the old * in windows functions would also help. "*decur" for example. Having a widget that gives you information like Min price, Max price, Average price, and quantity for sale like I've seen for other games would make it more useful. Having more categories to pare search results would help mitigate all of these. I like the suggestions of reverse sales. I post that I'm looking for X item and my offer and it either automatically completes the trade or at least has a searchable market (buy and sell tabs). I also like the idea of being able to package armor sets so I don't have to search of every individual piece.
  3. Same thing here. I should have checking this first. Been on the splash screen before server selection now for about an hour now.
  4. Honestly I wanted access solely for the Statue decorations because I kinda enjoy playing space Martha Stewart. But my biggest takeaway was "Finally after years of letting my CC balance climb there's actually something I want to spend them on." All that being said, I think I would have preferred an in game solution. It would probably still be worth CC points, but having a quest line to follow or reputation line to achieve would have given more to do than run the same 10 year old heroics for the 4th time this week.
  5. While it is true that the new launcher does indeed connect to the server faster, the launcher itself takes longer to get to a ready state where I can input my account info. And I still have a daily one time password required. So for me at least, there's not real improvement with the new launcher.
  6. Please tell me this will be revamped later. It feels like a clunky ezweb.
  7. I noticed that too. My comp not only quit healing me. They seemed to quit healing themselves. They were getting killed by 2-3 trash mobs.
  8. At the risk of derailing this thread... Thanks for a level headed and honest attempt to help. I'm not sure if it will help salvage things for me personally, but hopefully it can help someone more on the fence.
  9. Bioware, you finally broke me. I was able to tolerate running the same heroics 3-4 times weekly just to get my main characters for each faction geared. Now not only can I not really gear my alts, I have no clue about what my main toon has. Manaan doesn't drop the matrices I need so likely I'll never will catch up... and I no longer care to try. Little new story delivered late, changes few wanted, crap gearing, and a plethora of bugs... you know this really IS the perfect way to celebrate 10 years of SWTOR.
  10. TL:DR answer. I try not to. It gives me a headache.
  11. Thank you for answering a question I had about the new gearing system. I had wondered what I was missing (realistic expectations of what to expect out of Biware) Now that you mention it yes. No matrix drops on Manaan. So it seems my choices are 1) Do the meager new content primarily for rep. 2) Do select missions for 100th time this year alone to reach conquest 3) Do the same group of missions for the 100th time this year to get gear that will get dated the month after you finish leveling it . 4) Give up and do little beyond login bonuses till the next story drips You know, the more I think on it. This really IS the perfect way to celebrate the 10th anniversary... persistent bugs, minimal story, cash shop reskins, and little communication from the developers.
  12. I was JUST thinking that. We're in summer reruns season.
  13. Tat is easier, at least for the imps. Besides the crawler in the Dune sea, the Black Box heroic area also is a search zone. Kill sand people and search. :-)
  14. Whoever suggested that it might be a beer cooler following behind you on your adventures... Now, THAT would be an awesome pet. Especially if it hands you one periodically.
  15. in both cases my team was losing 47+kills to <20 If you can turn that around, then I am truly impressed. And if ramming the wall intentionally once makes me a cheater.. then so be it. Not that it's the first time I was accused of cheating (because yes I am that bad at it) Pretty sure though you don't have to worry. Unless they return to a season 1 format where you HAVE to do GSF I won't bother.
  16. Speaking here as someone that is so gloriously bad at GSF I’ve been accused of throwing a match (prematurely ending a rout a couple times yes, not trying when we could still possibly win, no). I have wondered why there doesn’t seem to be a ranked GSF. Unranked WZs seem to be full of people like me, doing their best with mixed results. Every so often you get a ringer crew and it’s a slaughter one way or the other. But at least I can nearly always get the 8 medal goal on healer and ranged DPS. It feels feel like I’m actually doing something productive. This is, I think, because the pros are playing ranked and I have an actual chance. I did GSF during season 1 because sometimes it was the only way to get the requisite points. Season 2 has thankfully had enough options I haven’t had to suffer through it. Frankly, unless I have to I never will. Unlike unranked WZs where I feel “It’s onerous, but I’m accomplishing something.” GSF isn’t fun or feeling like I’ve accomplished something.
  17. Update: I eventually got in, but I can to do a cold restart of the system. So it's rather annoying.
  18. I'm having a problem. I'm not sure where to post this, but I'll start here. I am unable to get the game to actually load. I can get the launcher to start and play will highlight after a few second. But when I actually do hi play, nothing happens. I tried running a repair. It said it was completed successfully. I have done so with task manager open and swtor.exe never starts. Checking the game logs gives me ta long file. It ends with.... BUt I never actually see anything start.
  19. I'm not sure if this is related, but starting about an hour ago from this post I would try to log in, get the the character screen after several minutes. Pick a character who would take about twice as long to load. Then within a minute my connection would show a red X and I'd get booted to an empty server select screen. Exiting and restarting the launcher repeats the effect above.
  20. A character with no voice at all... no thanks. I remember that with Knights and not fondly. It was tedious. Now having characters without voice actors speaking basic? A Duros, Roadian, Wookie, or the like would certainly get me interested in spending my cartel points and making a new character. I can see why some races such and Jawas might not be feasible with the character skeletal frams, no matter how much fun a Sith Sorc might be. Likewise a droid might not be practical (no matter how much fun a Jedi HK might be). But even with those limits there could still be some interesting options.
  21. Considering how uninspired I am about 7.0, I'm glad that it got pushed back.. More time to play the way I enjoy before everything gets upended. Makes me glad I renewed my sub rather than let it lapse.
  22. I swear this whole gearing change smacks of create a problem, then offer a solution in the cash shop.
  23. It is a shame really... there are several QoL improvements coming like the combat styles. I was actually excited for the first time in a good while. Then I read this thread. Yep. I foresee a lot of login, collect the daily bonus, log outs coming. Conquest is getting smacked hard. I used to flip sides to work on it and developed a pattern to insure I could hit the small guild goal myself even if the rest of my small guilds were MIA a week. The goals we just different enough on Imp pub I could hit alts on both sides and get to the goals with 2-3 days of serious play and a couple of scattered hours in between. Yes I ran a lot of the same content, but the grind was tolerable because I could feel tangible reward. The changes here will make my alt pathing impossible and the grind a yawn fest.. "Jump through this doggie hoop or you won't get gear." I gave up at the start of 6.0 My toons are in the best that you can get with tech fragments (308) because I didn't feel grinding the ops was worth the modest increase. This will solidify that position. I really don't care if it's 306, 324, or 3006 for that matter. It's just a matter of me having a level 50 comp or two to insure I can finish the story content without dying too much. "You won't be able to to do group content with that attitude." Sorry I lost my last reason to want group content in this game. I am here to hear (and tell) a story in Star Wars. As long as you have some, I'll be around to experience it. But raids and war zones aren't stories to me. If anything, I'm inclined to actively avoid the stuff BioBeware is telling me I need to do. Yes I might play more initially. as I finish up the post Knights content on my alts. Then it's the 5 minute login till next content drop. "Play your way." sure seems like "Play your way, but if it isn't the way we want then don't expect anything from us."
  24. I tried to repair and now the client will not even load. UPDATE: I reran the installer and now it briefly flashes a blank installer. (No names o\r information) before installing the service is down. UPDATE 2: Re-downloaded a fresh installer ,.. repairing 14 files. Not sure if it will fix the problem.
