So... I was over on Reddit and saw that according to Dulfy there are now 300 Command ranks and tier 3 doesn't start dropping until rank 180. The amount of cxp more than doubles from beginning to end.

More ranks -> more boxes to drop -> more rolls to get that piece you are still missing.

Dat RNG. :rak_03:

My bad. I was thinking early access was the 28th, so 5 work days. If you aren't American you might not be aware that we have a national holiday next week. And it is of course always possible for them to put in last minute changes, I'm just not that optimistic.

Ah OK, yeah, im from EU and its been a long time since i was in US, so forget such things :)

This deal keeps getting worse. Ain't nobody got time for this grind.

Since this is the death of PvP and I ain't got time to run group crud, I'll just play the new story. If it sucks the first time, I won't even bother running any alts through it.

It might be time to find something else to play.

Yeah people here keep saying how terrible it is from the viewpoint of a PVE player, I cant even imagine what this means for a PVP person!!!

Those CXP boxes should only drop schematics and Tier gear, no green and blue crap.

Absolutely they should. The fact that they drop literal crap gear, is beyond insulting and stupid.

Quoting because I hope it sticks in someone's mind at Bioware. This is the crux of it.

No one - and I literally mean no one - wants a gear grind. We want to play the parts of the game that we enjoy.

If you, Bioware, as a studio can't do better than this you don't deserve this IP. This game has been gutted over the last few years as you've taken the easy, lazy, cheap way out. This game should be great. Truly, great. This is *********** Star Wars.

It blows my mind you've let it devolve into a random gear grind. Every single one of you should be ashamed of yourselves. This is garbage.

I could not agree more gabigool! As usual, well said!

My stance has always been that I'll play until it stops being fun. I'm not forcing myself to stay and suffer based on the "hope" that it will get better. No fun = no play.

The thing is, I'll give it a chance. I could be wrong about it. I've been wrong about the game once or twice before. :t_tongue:

It means an absolute debacle. This gearing system will hit people who only pvp the hardest. We are basically being shown the door and told, "if you stay, then shut up and put up with our bullcrap or go find another game".

4.0 drove most of my old pvp guild from the game. The remaining dedicated pvpers still playing will probably all end up leaving because of this decision.

Bioware could at least be "man" enough to say, "we don't really want real pvpers in the game anymore". Instead they drive us away and then pretend like they've done nothing wrong.

Be honest Bioware, if you don't want certain types or certain parts of the population to play anymore, then just come out and say it, don't hide behind this expansion.

Agree, they should tell us that they don't know they have GSF in the game and they no longer support PvP or raiding. This dancing around just makes me to say everyone to not try SW:TOR if they ask me what game they should play :D

OMG!!

FOUR crates with no set gear in it!

Proof that the RNG is rigged.

I'm not sure how many times it needs to be said.

RNG gear is ALWAYS rigged against the player.

Of all the Q&A's BW has answered and how many good questions they have skipped. BW made sure to answer the one question that asked, "Is it possible to never get "X" gear?" and BW said that is true. You may never get the gear you want or need. (paraphrase)

BW made sure to let you know upfront how their RNG is going to work. Pulling the slot machine handle for gear in SWTOR is setup to make sure you lose out way more than you win. Just like a casino.

BW is the house and the deck is always stacked against the player. This time though unlike a casino, there is no one to regulate things being at least in some part "fair". Just look at the video. Isn't it great that BW can hide behind, "oh we're still adjusting numbers." Some great false hope for those that still believe bw.

RNG gearing isn't something to look forward to and seeing the actual crates in action should tell you just how horrible bw's gearing system is.

Been looking for another thing of interest to me, to no avail: is it true we must do all heroics on a given planet in order to gain any GCX?

Will be crappy news for me, as there are many heroics ( mostly the open world ones) which I find far too tedious and annoying to bother with.

In many ways I am finding a need to make my own fun for 5.0. The story seems ok, but frankly much of it should have already happened. This choice matters is not enough, the past were we got no choices still darkens this future.

Ops, PvP, flash points, all hurt by the new random gearing they had to know was a bad idea. Its insulting to the player base that they play it off like its just fine or even acceptable.

People are right, it will be easier to gear as dps, it always is but this is now more extreme then ever before. Healers will be slightly impacted but tanks will get kicked in the jimmies over this. Less tanks means less challenging group content we can play.

The idea that this stuff has replay value isnt even a funny joke, its another insult to the players. How many times can you replay the same "story" before it gets old and tired? How many times did you play through KOTEE? I completed its what 5 times and am close with 4 more. To me that was pushing my limits, this offers nothing but more the same.

If you want to play a "Star Wars" game this is still it. But they are trying hard to make it unplayable. Either through incompetence or willful act they have lessened this game and that is a real shame.

What? This sounds ridiculous but at this point I just can't put it past them. I think I have literally done only 3 heroics and 1 operation in the entire game. I pretty much just do my story and PvP. I guess given that; it probably doesn't matter anyway as they are already making the game a no go for me just in CXP RNG crap.

That's exactly how I read it. No skipping any...good luck with some of them...I think every planets has at least one that's (nearly) impossible to complete with other players there.

I really enjoy it playing my Juggernaut tank but also love my sorcerer. I can't decide which one will be the character I am going to equip. I do not have the time to equip both with THIS system because I'm doing my a-level right now and have exams without a end in sight. It doesn't make sense to put both on a low GXP level because then both have bad equip. :(

Well this whole system is a copy and paste of Destiny. In Destiny when you rank up your "Vanguard" rank you get a crate almost exactly like this. Sometimes you get a purple item, YAY!!!!! and some times you get a "Mote of Light" :(

This game has gone WAY off of the rails LOL. They keep introducing systems and currencies and ideas that get totally abandoned once they are deployed.

1.) Legacy System - ABANDONED

2.) Reputation System - ABANDONED

3.) Cartel Certificates - ABANDONED

4.) Outfit Designer - Deployed half baked... then ABANDONED

5.) Etc. etc. etc.

Come on guys....

Amen. There is nothing about the new gearing that looks like fun. It looks like work and I already do that 45+ hours a week. Why would I want my entertainment time to be more work?

It's time for EA to clean house at BW,

It's not so much of a matter "get to rank X to only get set bonus gear". Instead, it is probably more of:

  • From rank 1 to X: 25% chance at legendary 232 with setbonus, otherwise green 228 without setbonus.
  • From rank X+1 to Y, 25% chance at legendary 236 with setbonus, otherwise green 232 without setbonus.
  • From rank Y+1 onwards, 25% chance at BiS legendary 240 with setbonus, otherwise green 236 without setbonus.

(percentages based on the stream, which was obviously a small sample size, and may be higher or lower)

Way off the mark there on those percentages. This thread gives more of an insight.. The percentages were actually much lower than that, and with the inclusion of green / blue gear into that mix the loot tables are diluted much more than previously assumed. Also a couple of things we were slightly off on was where Tier 3 gear actually starts dropping (now it's assumed from 100+).

It was taking roughly 50-70 Command Crates to get a full set of gear, at the right tier. With the inclusion of green and blue items that number of Command Crates required will multiply drastically. You're probably looking in the region (at a guess) of at least 150+ hours once you have reached Command Rank 100.

So those 4 Command Crates opened, we're actually representative of a majority of what you'll see when opening a Command Crate, due to diluted loot tables.

I've not seen anyone mention this on the thread (if I missed it, sorry). You can buy green mods at level 70. So why would anyone want green moddable gear from a Command Crate? :p Also, what's with the reputation items included in those crates? CZ-198 reputation? Seriously? If anything it should be a CXP token, nothing else but that. The whole GC system is essentially a convoluted way of grinding reputation, while giving you a poor second cousin to the current gearing method in the game.

TL;DR; fixating on colors coding of items will lead the careless player to wrong conclusions as to the value of the item. Green moddable drops = great fodder for forwarding mods for alts.

It's already been proven in previous expansions that newer gear =/= better gear. I'd rather still use my previous set bonus for 208 PvP gear than use green / blue gear. You want to know why? Because I'm not going to waste credits pulling mods / augmenting stuff I'm going to ditch as soon as I get the newer set bonus gear. It's vendor trash, we all know it's there to dilute the loot table and extend the grind in the absence of new content.

I agree with the sentiment but I'm going to say EA is not the place to look for a solution.....With the design focus as of late I wouldn't be surprised if EA is setting outlines for content before its designed...

For example: "We want to see things take longer to extend the average subscription time, we want to see additional revenue on the CM especially through consumables....repeating revenue.....

We want to see low overhead so plan on finding ways to "reinvigorate" existing content and make it all replayable...Put those little walking wallets on a treadmill!

Ok! go build your little "expansion" BW and make sure all our requirements are met......

I would like to believe that, but their lack of communication, or even acknowledgement, leads me to believe they have made up their minds. That they know what their customers want better than their customers, if forum feedback doesn't work because it's a one sided conversation, then the only thing left is to speak with our wallets.

Yes, so that is down in the weeds a little bit, but I'm happy to have a conversation about it. So, as with any live service, there are times where we

find bugs in the software. We stay very, very close to the community. Again, engagement of our community, ensuring our community has the
