Not quite as impressive when the fluff is removed.
Operations were all you listed. Were operations the only consideration for content, then I could agree. But they aren't. Based on (I'm guessing) your assumption that QoL additions are fluff, the list of non-fluff content that's been added looks more like this:

1.1 (1/18/2012)

- Operation: Karraga's Palace expansion

- New FP: Kaon Under Siege

- Event: Rise of the Rakghouls

1.2 (4/12/2012)

- New Operation: Explosive Conflict

- New Mission Area: Black Hole

1.4 (9/26/2012)

- New Operation: Terror From Beyond

1.5 (11/15/2012)

- New Mission Area: Section X

- New Event: HK-51 companion quest chain

- Operation: EC NiM added

- New World Boss: Dreadtooth

1.6 (12/11/2012)

- New WZ: Ancient Hypergate

- Space: Heroic missions added

- New Event: Life Day Celebration

1.7 (2/12/2013)

- New Event: Relics of the Gree

- New Operation: Gray Secant

2.0 (4/9/2013) PAID EXPANSION - RotHC

- Cost to subscribers ... a bank breaking $9.99

- New Planet: Makeb

- New Operation: Scum & Villany

- New HM FPs: Athiss, Cademimu, Hammer Station, Mandalorian Raiders

2.2 (6/12/2013)

- Operation: TFB NiM

2.3 (8/6/2013)

- 55 FPs: Czerka Corporate Labs, Czerka Core Meltdown

- Event: Bounty Contract Week

2.4 (10/1/2013)

- Operations: Dread Fortress, Dread Palace

- Mission Areas: Oricon, CZ-198

2.5 (12/04/2013)

- Galactic Starfighter

2.6 (02/04/2014)

- Flashpoint: Kuat Drive Yards Tactical Flashpoint.

Right, as I said in the ()'s below my post, I was focused on Operations, the only true large group content in this game.

What exactly was the "- New Event: Life Day Celebration"?

An event where you could trow snowballs at eachother and get a special "lifeday" mount and some other fluff.

Still an event tho.

Especially since there was a pretty huge outcry the year before about there not being an event.

That was this past year - not 2012.

Yep, that gold standard was so successful for the publishers the game continued to grow and is performing stellarly today.

Oh. Wait. It's closed, isn't it?

Gee, let's everyone who actually enjoys playing SWTOR hope that BioWare is aiming for a different sort of measure of gold standard than did CoH.

Gee... if TOR last 10 years, you'll have a point, till then, you don't.

I've made a few threads about this. "replayability" It's a made up word that is the difference between many people subscribing or putting this game on the shelf. Personally I play this game for about a month or two at a time then take a few months break. It doesn't have to be this way, I like the game but there just isn't much to do other than Ops, FPs and dailies. The latter making me want to turn the game off. I think the Seeker Droid quests and dailies are fun. Some sort of randomness that changes the grind is definitely a good thing. They need to think out-of-the-box more when it comes to new content.

I do agree with you... I also play for 4-6 months at a time, than quit for just as long, my last break was 7 months.... I came back to more grind stuff that was added (fun for now though). For what is in the game, I love it, but because its mostly a static grind, its also easy to get board. I also agree, things like the seeker droid was a nice change.

Hopefully they will figure out that content does not have to = fighting. Once they do, I really think the game will feel better balanced all around.

Still, I do enjoy the game when I am playing... until I get board that is, than its break time again. If they had some social fluff, like games, working casino, pod racing, customization player ships (as housing) and so on, I think they would find, people like myself, may not take breaks from the game and stay subbed while doing the social fluff stuff instead, as their break. I am good with the pace and quality of the content they do release though.

BTW: My wife was the driving force to my return, she is more addicted than I am. However, I am glad she did, I am enjoying what was added after I left and leveling a couple of more alts as well.

The game's current 6 operations is one more (raid) than the former 600 lb. gorilla had after 2 years. Plus there are World Boss (I think, like ... 15) operations that have weeklies associated with them. Can't speak to other current games and where they were after 2 years other than WoW, GW and LotRO. I still play LotRO, but their end game is rather ... small.

Anyway, one MMO can't swing for the fences on everything, and the ones that swing for the fences on only one thing become niche. So I don't know how the best of everything being in one game is possible. There will always be compromise in titles that aren't niche.

Re Life Day, players get to seasonally run goofy dailies (throwing snowballs & tinsel bombs, scavenge hunts, etc. - RP kinda stuff) which earned gift tokens. Could ultimately buy a sleigh mount with them. Having played WoW, I liken Life Day to that game's "Love is in the Air".

That was this year Kegger...not 2012.

This game is what it is. That should be obvious by now. Stop asking for sandbox elements because they aren't happening. This game is not designed that way.

Will we get more planets and species? Of course. Player housing? No. Guild ships? Maybe. Otherwise, we will get more of the content that we've been getting. That's what this game is.

This is a typical example of a consumer that is so blinded that he can't see he is being robbed of his money or time.

Accepting things as they are because they company says so.

Absolutely LOL

The alternative way to look at it is that he's a player who gets $15/month worth of entertainment value from the game. It's shocking, I know, but anyone who's paying a subscription (*cough* you and everyone else who can post to this forum *cough*) who doesn't feel they're getting $15/month worth of entertainment from the game is a fool being parted from his money, right?

To be fair, everyone playing the game now (and specifically posting on these forums) should be playing the game as it is and enjoying at least some part of it. Paying a subscription on the hopes that things will get better or different is a fool's game. That doesn't mean we can't want changes, but nobody here should be 'robbed' by BioWare.

What wasn't 2012? It came back this past Holiday season and featured snowballs, etc. You lost me.

In 2012, you're saying there was an in game event where you threw snowballs and could get a special holiday mount??? I'm like 99% certain that that event was NEW this year (2013), not around in 2012...

You are correct. There was no event in 2012, there was a handful of items available for purchase on the CM.

Ah ... 2012 had the same snowballs, fireworks, tinsel bombs, Life Day Tree and the STAP with Christmas lights. The sleigh was new this year, as was the vendor who sold the snowballs, tinsel bombs and mounts - and the daily quests. In 2012 I think we got a Life Day gift mailer with snowballs, tinsel bombs & fireworks as kind of a anniversary/Life Day mixed bag, and most of 2012's Life Day event items came from the CM's Life Day Pack. This year it evolved to where everything but the Life Day Tree could be earned in game by doing dailies. Oh ... and the Life Day Robes too, which are CM-only I think, until they get resold on the GTN. Edited by GalacticKegger

Uh... The Life Day pack that was on the CM in 2012 was only the Life Day Robes, the Czerka LD-1 Celebrator, the Holo-Tree, Life Day Ord, and the Tinsel Bomb. But that was all.

2013 introduced the new Sleigh I speeder, and the snow balls, and the Life Day Achivements. 2013 is when the 'official' Life Day event started.

I never thought I'd agree with TUXs...

As 2013 was the first year the event evolved away from the CM into a true event where daily quests awarded currency for purchasing Life Day items, I believe I stand corrected. Thank you. I should have reflected Life Day as a participatory event being added in 2013 instead of 2012. TUXs ... I owe you an apology. My bad. Edited by GalacticKegger

Newsflash: This year is not 2013. Who knows what it will be this year (2014).

This year will be really interesting. A huge Update is coming as big as ROTHC and we know they are never exaggerate. What did they say about ROTHC? One of the biggest expansions of its kind in MMO history. Looking foreward how they are promoting the next update this time.

Reminds me of something a former governor of my home state said. "... and in four years, you'll be blown away."

Turned out just like she said. We were blown away. Just like a tumbleweed because the state was all but dead.
