Thank You for WRECKING Space Combat in 3/26 Patch!

Don't put me at a wall and throw rocks at me, but I actually like these (unintended?) changes to the spacemissions. The last weeks I was so bored about them cause they are way to easy. Today I finally had some kind of a challenge again. The mission from today I normally survive with loads of rockets left and full HP, today I had only like 1/3 HP left and had a hard time to destroy the satellites. Overall, I completed it with all bonus objectives like the weeks before but it was really more challenging.

 

Guess it will be easier if I do it again cause basically I was wondered that my normal "rotation" wasn't working anymore. So I had to improvise.

 

I hope it stays like this. It should have been like this right at the start in my opinion.

Well no :jawa_smile: because it's not the mission difficulty that has been upped but instead the blast condensers that are broken, and thus needs fixing.

Well you know what : You can always make those more challenging by equipping lesser grade ship parts ?

and it's a win/win situation for everyone because you can tune those to whatever skill level you like while letting other people play at the intended difficulty !

Never said anything else has priority, but they obviously broke something that was working just fine.

Between that, and making one aspect of the game completely unplayable, yes, it should take priority.

 

In their patch, they made doing space missions UNPLAYABLE. And although it's not a major part of the game, it still is a part that is broken and should be looked into.

 

At the very least, a dev response would be appreciated.

 

It was posted and acknowledged in the CS forum. A little research is your friend, unless of course you are so desperate for attention you feel the need to have your opinion voiced in your very own duplicate thread.

Space combat??

 

All i see is an on the rails late 1980's style Atari-esque space shooter where you shoot enemies coming at you (or from behind for variety i guess) in scripted scenes that never change and the flight patterns of each game are easily capable of being memorized very quickly..while holding down your fire button and shooting a missile every now and then..

 

To get this angry over a simple side game seems a bit ridiculous...The space missions are used to grind up a few credits and some goodies and that's it but i certainly wouldn't get my blood pressure worked up over a simplistic side game that's concept should have been left back in the 80's quarter arcades.

 

I got a sneaky suspicion the OP is mad because his easy peasy quick grind just got a little harder and it actually takes slightly more skill then making toast to complete now.

Lol. An update--this appears to be an Imperial-only bug! Republic ships still enjoy 100 damage per bolt from grade 7 ship upgrade "blaster cannons!" That is priceless. I know the Republic sucks but common brah--that's just unfair! Haha!

You're wrong, it's bugged not only for Empire but for Republic also. I've made enough tests today with those ships :

 

Smuggler

Consular

Agent

Sorcerer

 

And they all have the problems, and for some it's worse than others (and for some where it's worse it's on a republic ship as well).

 

ALSO, it's not the blaster cannons that are faulty, they still give 100 dmg for everyone, empire and republic. it's the blast condensers that :

 

1) changes the overall dmg the ship does and lessen it.

2) doesn't add any more the +100dmg it should and it even doesn't show anymore on the tooltip.

 

On any ship, empire or republic, if you remove the blast condenser and put a grade 5 instead or the rendili hyperwork thingie then the laser cannons are fine, for everyone...

 

That said, and again it's for everyone, it seems the missiles now do less dmg as well, and the shields too have a cold...

You mean, like they fix everything else? Like the constant continued crashes in the same spots in several fp's? Or any of the many other things that are still broken for the longest of times?

Kabal Station Defense/Ardis Outpost Fortification pops tomorrow. I don't think it will be completable if this isn't fixed by then. The bridge and the frigates can be taken care of with torpedoes and missiles, but taking out the 30 bombers requires a loooooooooooot of blaster fire. Edited by Felioats

I just tried, was unable to complete it at all, even with swapping the faulty condenser with the old rendili one.

Also it seems the missiles do less dmg, and the shields are not as strong as they were...

 

Today was ok, tomorrow will be painful, if at all doable...

I had edited this into my earlier post, but someone replied during that time, so here it is:

 

Kanz Minefield/ New Cov Asteroid Field Thursday won't be doable, either. It takes too much DPS to take out the hard point and the minelayer.

 

Duma Strike/Baros Ambush and Lorta Escort/Hypori Escort will be OK Friday and Saturday with heavy reliance on missiles.

 

Cha Raaba Assault/Thanium Disruption Sunday, though. That's the hardest one. It may not even be possible to survive to the end, never mind destroying the objectives.

I used to think people were moaning about nothing when they got hit by a bug. Just work round it, I'd think to myself as I wasn't effected.

 

But this is just the latest in a long line of bugs that seem to randomly hit the game (most usually after a patch which of late is all about the cartel market) then its not just space combat which I agree is a bad term for a rail shooter. Space is open and free and easy to move through, rail shooter is boring and can mean if you don't get your 8 missiles off at a target you have to restart the mission cause you can't just fly back and take another pass at it.

 

As for the rewards, I imagine it has more to do with rep and not being able to play the mission till next week if you don't get it done today that has people annoyed more than a few credits. If the missions stayed for the week there wouldn't be the pressing need to get them done on the day.

Ahhh I thought this was just me, just completed a heroic space mission but couldn't understand why the ships I normally destroy in seconds took a whole minute. Good to know its another patch from BW and not I have become really bad at space.

I have had the same problem today. I'm glad, at least, that it doesn't mean I've gone soft. I have unlocked the Hyperspace Legend title and have all the heroic space missions on farm. Whatever happened in this latest patch has made them exponentially more difficult if not impossible (I haven't yet been able to complete Regnant Station Assault today.) This is a very serious, game breaking bug that needs to be addressed ASAP.

with the latest patch you seem to have accidently broke something with the space combat missions. It seems that the lvl 7 ship blasters are not nearly doing as much damage as they used to.

It's kinda ironic that the mission I wasn't able to complete 3 times pre-patch I did on the first try after the patch. And yes, I have the eq. thats supposed to be bugged. Anyway, the whole thing really bugs me 'cause I was planning to play mainly space missions tonight.

It's not only that. Those missions are quite challenging and for those who like them : they really are fun to complete, especially since, for some, you're not sure you'll be completing the mission on first try, and for most, not sure you'll get all the bonuses.

 

Nothing is a given in these missions. One slight mistake may cost you a bonus or two, a big mistake (hitting asteroids twice in a row, or spoiling the EWP or EMP at the wrong time) a lot of time means the failure of the mission...

 

I, along other people, happen to like these missions.
