Deresdod
On a side note, I was having some serious stuttering issues with nameplates showing that made raiding with them on unplayable or running around the fleet. Disabling SLI fixed this issue and there is no more stuttering with nameplates.

Styxx
Hey everyone - we're aware of some issues introduced in Game Update 1.4 that may cause frame stuttering or performance problems (particularly on CrossFire or SLi setups). If you are experiencing these problems, please try disabling shadows. We are working on resolving these issues, but disabling shadows in the meantime may result in a performance increase. If you notice a performance increase after disabling shadows, please post to let us know (as some of you already have). We'll update you if we have any more information to share as we work on this issue. Thank you! I have max FPS and always had. It is the actual image that is "stuttering", WITH full FPS. Jacen_Starsolo
I change my UI back to default and it's better. Unfortunately, Bioware's default UI sucks. Add a quickbar to let me use more than 10 powers? STUTTER ALL OVER THE PLACE. So did Bioware just test this with their default UI setting?
CMoldas
Running 570 GTX SLI and everything was glass smooth 1.3. Actually smooth before I went to SLI. The 1.4 update introduced all kinds of stuttering and FPS issues. I was using the 301.xx drivers when 1.4 first went live. I updated to 306.xx with the same results. I only use the certified drivers. The latest 1.4b patch or whatever seemed to help slightly, but problem is still definitely there. Disabling shadows helped some, but the stuttering is still there. Disabling SLI didn't help, only result was lower FPS. This is crazy as the game ran FANTASTIC before this update. BW needs to roll back to 1.3 graphics, I had no complaints on the looks of the game and it ran great. If they fix the new shadows and get them to work, great, but I want my old game that WORKED back please. Thanks!
Telsnow
basically let us know how you're doing with these issues please, a week is far too long to go without any type of response to the community. Yes, their silence is incredibly disheartening right now. Its as if they are sitting on their hands while our faith in them rapidly deteriorates. A week has passed since this nightmare of a patch has launched and all they have to show for it are two fixes when there are countless other bugs still not addressed. At this rate of productivity, things will still be broken by the time theyre preparing to release the next patch of content. What's the point in adding new content if half the player base cant even enjoy it because of a myriad of unresolved game play issues? This game's future just keeps getting bleaker and their ongoing silence is just adding insult to injury at this point.
Kyuuu
Bioware need to use the the damn PTS server correctly and test patchs and fix things BEFORE SENDING THEM TO LIVE servers and pissing people off, If you not gona use the PTS for what it ment for then why have the server? This one of my pet peeves about MMO they have PTS to test patchs and fix thing before sending them to live server yet, very few actual use the PTS for what its actual ment for which it to to test patchs before sending them to live and *********** **** up

genede
FWIW, I found a solution for my (single) GTX 580 setup (driver 301.42). I have every Graphics setting maxed out and everything is smooth as it ever was. BUT the second a Nameplate is on the screen (even a single one), the choppiness returns. So I disabled showing nameplates on friendly and hostile players, and now it's only an issue when I actually click on an NPC to attack it, at which time I'm not moving the camera much at all anyway, and the performance is acceptable. I haven't heard much about Nameplates as the factor on the forums, but someone did mention turning off scaling them, which is what got me started down that path. For me, I have to disable them as much as possible. Forum posts have mostly talked about SLI and Crossfire, but I just have the one card and my wife's ATI rig is fine. Boozek
I've been as patient as I possibly can be at this point. I don't like ranting or complaining. I barely have posted on the forums since launch now I'm posting several times a day in my vain attempt to find solutions and answers from the dev team that will at least allow me to get my pvp daily/weekly done to get my new elite war hero hilts/barrels. I honestly can't pvp at all when my fps will dip to 3-4 frames. pre 1.4 100+ fps with every bell and whistle turned up to max. There could be 4 sorcs in the wz casting chain lightning while two ops dropped orbital stroke and a couple of BH's DFA'd out their behinds on screen and I'd still be able to navigate that tornado without so much as a slight shudder. I have done everything suggested by customer care, other players, and even the hamster gods. Still no definitive replies from any of your sources, hell my in game ticket is still sitting there open and it's now been 10 days since the initial patch was released. Thoffs
I was fine (smooth on highest settings, no complaints at all) until the 1.40b update on Oct 2nd, and then wham -- stuttering all over the place. DarkSideTOR
My FPS stays in the 60s on the fleet and in combat but there's awful stuttering all the time. My connection is still in the 20-30 ms, I have the latest drivers for my SLI setup which runs other newer games in high settings just fine, so this has to be something you implemented recently. I have tried turning down graphics, turning off shadows, etc, and it still stutters like crazy.
Slurmez
Time invested in something only a fraction of the player population wants and break the game for the majority of the players with inane stuttering. Khosann
It seems the upcoming patch (Oct. 9 2012) won't solve any shadow, UI and nameplate issues. Because they said that they are still investigating. The game is nearly unplayable at Alderaan. I have GTX 580. I don't accept any performance issues. Especially if before patch 1.4 the game was running at 60 fps! I PAY this game. I want quality experience. Or I WILL cancel my subscription. Still investigating what Bioware? UI causes heavy stuttering. Nameplates causing heavy stuttering. Because these shadows are not new. They are an old beta build feature. All you have to do is to take shadows from beta build and put them into the latest graphics card optimized build. If your game can't run or GTX 580 (a directx 9, old engine game) what good are you? Besides why do you add Shadow Borders on creatures, NPCs, people? Those fake shadows look worse than Mass Effect 1. Crysis 2 comes with global illumination y'know? Besides I am not against new shadow formula. Just remove the stupid fake shadow borders from UI, nameplates, loot light shafts and creatures. The game will return to normal than even with the new shadows. You also removed the grass transparency supersampling optimization from the game. Fix it! Asavrede
I run a single GPU and I DID get improved performance from disabling shadows (a lot better). But performance is still a LOT worse than in 1.3! Stuttering, framerate drops, corruption - space missions are plain painful now as well due to the poor performance. morfius
No matter of GPU - only thing that save us (at least me & my wife - Nvidia 670m & Ati 6750) from stuttering is forcing shadows remove... by the moment only way I know is setting Shaders complexity to very low. Shadows to off simply doesn't do it.
