Just needed to vent some. I will now quit my scrapper scoundrel which i played since day one, full rakata/bm gear (except offhand) perfectly modded to get as much as possible out of the class.

I have played for so long, my rotations are perfect for pve and for pvp. I master all the tricks we have available for us yet i fail.

PVE:

Sure i almost bring the same dmg to the table as other melee dps, but thats it. If i mechanicwise need to be away from the mob or god forbid switch targets, who might even be more than 10 meters away from eachother i drop to dead last.

PVP:

Perfect gameplay never overwrite a flechette round with another, always maximizing damage and control depending on the situation.

Yet in a group i bring nothing to the table. The most horrible part is that we are so extremely punished by gameplay laughed at in other games. The backpeddling + permasnare, why on earth do i not have some form of speedincrease/immunity to snares or something.

I wish all of you who still have faith in this class the best of luck, im now done with the game for a while.

TL;DR

i need to l2p, scoundrel sucks, /wrists

AWWW look at the wittle guy, do you think you are the only class that suffers?

You are a DPS scoundrel/operative

What do DPS sorcs/sages bring to the table? what do DPS powertechs/vanguard bring to the table?

You are a DPS just like the other DPS.

Your PVP and PVE objections really fall short. You are a melee class that suffers the same short comings of all other melee classes. You dont bring anything other than the base class buff and DPS to raids, just like sorcs and powertechs.

I play a powertech and I dont sympathize with you at all.

Edit: well at least you can rez people in a fight with your vanish OOC rez.

First thought: Isn't there a patch filled with balancing changes in the near future?

Second thought: All Melee DPS are bad, it's not just Scoundrel. Blame the encounter design.

Third thought: Scrappers (still) do fine in PVP.

The scoundrel/operative dps buidls suffer from a lack of abilities to close to melee range fast. No force leap, no harpoon to pull the enemy in. No ranged dps to not need to close range...

Of course feel free to correct me here.

What amazes me is the shear number of operative/scoundrel players flat out quitting the class rather than trying other specs.

You almost NEVER EVER hear this with other classes. Their boards are all about different build discussions and when to use one over another yet cry baby concealment/scrappers think putting one extra point into another tree is akin to starting at level 1 with an entirely different class.

Completely sad. That one tree lacks only in one area in pvp: Huttball, but I have found a sweet spot with my med/conceal hybrid and contribute the best I can in both heals and damage. In open world and other maps I am a powerhouse. WAY too much weight on huttball imo. "I am quitting because I can't carry the ball in hutball!" ... seriously?

The class need some love in various areas? Sure, but so does other classes. Rumor of change is coming too and playing more than one character is actually allowed despite what some players might tell you. You don't have to "quit" a class. You simply choose can not to play just one 24/7.

Lord man chillaz you need to do what i did with my trooper where i got fed up of seaming gav round and get munched by mobbing players. I wanted to run around deal damage and assault specialist change up was just what i needed. So just govand play around with hybrid specs.

Wow, the trolls are strong in this thread.

But hey, I suppose that's expected.

We're like the Robin of SW:TOR.

Sure we can work hard and pretend to keep up with the grown ups, but when Batman decides to take away our utility belt, we ain't worth **** compared to the other superheroes.

I went 28/13 sawbones/scrapper and I love it for pvp. Gave up Kolto Cloud and diagnostic junk for sucker punch/sawed off so I can heal people (getting me guarded/healed in return) while still getting kills by bursting down weakened enemies.

Not sure what to do for PvE besides go full sawbones, though, and I play my assassin tank when I want to be up front in pvp.

I have tried a LOT of different builds for PvP and I have also read a LOT of discussions about it on these forums. I am not sure why you think noone is discussing different Scoundrel specs because that is simply not true.

However out of the numours specs that I have tried I find only 2 specs to be en par with other classes: Sawbones/Scrapper hybrid and Sawbones/Dirty Fighting hybrid. Both are great and also fun to play.

However the DPS skilltrees are severely lacking right now:

-Dirty Fighting in PvP is just a joke. You are constantly locked into combat and cannot go into stealth, you have to focus on a single target for a very long time in melee range with horrible survivability. For PvP this skill tree is just not valid. For PvE I think it is ok.

-Scrapper in PvP is fun, but it is in general (all warzones included) a lot less effective than all other dps classes are.

So I just think it's sad that for competitive PvP you are almost stuck with going either full Sawbones or being a Sawbones hybrid.

Back on Topic:

Way too many haters in this thread.

The OP definitely has a point and I agree that our class is very frustrating to play at the moment if you don't want to be a healer. I am still stubborn and sticking to my Scrapper Scoundrel as I love my character and the play style. But honestly it can be very hard sometimes (Huttball anyone?).

There is a REASON why almost noone plays Scrapper/Concealment anymore and why noone even played Dirty Fighting/Lethality to begin with. The game is almost 3 months old and by now people in general have figured out what works and what doesn't. There is no magic spec that we can use that makes us valid damage dealers.

@OP: I think after we have rated warzones it'll only take a few weeks tops until it becomes vary apparent that DD Scoundrels are just not en par with the other classes. Then Bioware will definitely have to react.

Maybe you can level an alt until then and after we have been fixed go back to playing your Scoundrel. :)

One of my biggest complaints fall under the engine issues and how they abuse melee DPSers. Between the stuttering and warping to have a 50/50 chance of someone being actually where the screen shows them to be, it quickly makes being a scoundrel very frustrating.

Add that in to our already low lack of utility, and I'm thinking to start futzing with an alt to trooper of some sort to do ranged DPS.

If I feel frustrated every time I play a game, I quickly stop playing it :\

Dont know about poster but making a lvl 50 alt isnt an option for me if i have to wait for bw to figure this out , and their patching process is abolutely horrible they havent even changed tooltip on rakata items yet, and lots of the solution they came up with just seems like they cant work with the hero engine.

They fixed so when splitting stim stacks they wont get linked to chat, no they didnt fix it they disabled linking all biochem crafted items from backpack alltogehter. When they go through with such a horrible fix then something is clearly wrong with the way they patch and test things.

The class feels abandoned by BW, and its not about to change soon.

every 2-3min when we blow all cooldowns we feel usefull, rest were just a burden, imagine if people started using pvp adrenal for 15% dmg/heal & dmg reduction.

But hey atleast we got the double shoot first bug that happens now and then

It's not like you hear the gunslingers complaining that they're going to get nerfed in 1.2 and are the most vulnerable people in a WZ with a broken cover system :) oh wait.

I have to say, I want improvements. My first post-launch character was an Artillery Commando, my second and third are a Scrapper Scoundrel and a Balance Sage. The latter two I've been leveling alternately, one planet each at a time. Of that experience, by mid-game, I have to say that while the core of the Scrapper is interesting, he's much more frustrating, fragile, and slower than the Sage or Trooper. The Sage can just ghetto stomp just about anything, no problems. The trooper is a beast, technically a DPS spec but actually able to tank 4-man Heroics if the rest of the team is good, while laying considerable DPS.

The Scoundrel is very weak, barely sc****** through the most basic encounters that the other two would leave at near-full health, and taking longer to do it. I don't even attempt those gold/silver badge rare enemies that are sometimes around, because I know he'd be dead in a heartbeat (right after Corso or Bowdaar), while I'm confident that my Sage could massacre him, and my Trooper could do a decent job of it.

I'd like to like the Scoundrel, I think he has a great storyline and ship, but he just feels very weak. I think it would help if Blaster-whip was able to be made always-up, so that I could build as much Upper Hand as I needed, that alone might solve the problem.
