  1. By my understanding, Bioware can and is tracking all of the various server populations, their peaks, troughs, etc. in hard numbers. For reasons that will be left to each individual to decide upon, they will not disclose that information. Thankfully, Paige has done a lot of legwork for us on this one.
  2. I would love a better community, but as with building all things, you need the raw materials. People are the raw material of a community, and unfortunately, we lack even that on my, and many other, servers
  3. We don't actually advertise our channel through the boards. We whisper each and every one of the 50's on the server and tell them about the channel and how to get to it. I think you misunderstand me entirely though. It sounds like you want us to be welcoming new players into our dead server. That can't be further from the truth. It's a trap! We want to be more like these guys so we don't feel like these guys
  4. On our server, we run a level 50 cross-zone chat channel, so lack of communication isn't the issue.
  5. Actually, that is very much at the core of the issue. If you have 5 level 50's on one side, you're limited to flashpoints. If you have 8, you can scrape up ONE warzone team. These dead servers really and truly do lack the players to field these sorts of numbers in many cases. If half want to PvP and half want to PvE, then you might as well just turn on a movie and tuck into bed, because your gaming night is over.
  6. I think, at this point, people are willing to take the risk. It's up and running in the Pacific, we need it here like a fat kid needs a diet. As long as there's a recovery system in place, it really needs to be #1 priority of the developers.
  7. This is actually an issue of a good amount of the community saying, "your game has a fundamental issue." When I say "fundamental" with emphasis, I mean it. This is currently an MMO without the MM part. The people that say "roll an alt and enjoy the story" are saying "play it as a single player game, and all is gravy". Many people wish to simply play this as KOTOR3, which is fine. However, it's not what I got this game for.
  8. My server (Deadweight) is already dead. Unsubbed, as did a large part of my guild. The pooch, it has been screwed.
  9. I'm not talking 40 people in fleet, I'm talking 40 people TOTAL. The issue is, this population barely fluctuates even in prime time hours. At MOST, we see 80 people, TOTAL. Rarely, you'll see more than 10 people in fleet. That's prime time. As for what method BioWare is likely to use? I suspect they will look at a list of possibilities as to how to manage selective transfers, choose the least effective method, put a bow on it and send it out to us. (Late, as well)
  10. My server currently has 40 people online. Period. No WZs are going, no queues are popping, there is quite literally nothing going on. Summer begins Wednesday, June 20, 2012. That's a little less than two months away. And this is just the closest approximation to "free character transfers". I'll wager they're going to offer transfers from overpopulated servers like Fatman to underpopulated servers like Deadweight. Who in their right mind is going to go from a bustling metropolis to a ghost town? It's not like the gun laws are any different between the two.
  11. I can't help but to feel that you've missed the entire purpose of the thread.
  12. For many of us, taking the MM out of MMORPG makes us question as to why we should pay a monthly fee to be allowed to play this game. I feel the people who said that we merely want Diablo 3 or some other such naive comment didn't actually get the purpose of the post: There is nobody to play with. Maybe Diablo 3 WILL be a better sell, simply because dead servers won't be an issue, but I digress. I feel like the community, particularly on low pop servers, can be embodied in a man dieing of thirst in a desert, and BioWare is a sultan saying, "Don't worry, in a few months there will be a bountiful feast of liquid delights!" In the end, it's probably just a mirage, but we'll be dead by then anyway, so who cares? Maybe if enough people say this is a massive issue and drop subscriptions over it, BioWare will act. I hope they a least care about lost subs.
  13. I'm actually one of the guild mates that the OP is talking about, and our guild has this same conversation at least once a day while we try to figure out what we should do. We've become a very tightly knit group of people, originally through being the best PvP guild on the server to now being the only guild on the server. I unsubscribed today, and in the comments, this is what I posted:
  14. I'm the guild's armormech, we have a guild synthweaver, armsmech, artifice, etc. Everyone else is biochem, because it's simply wasteful not to be. Once I'm comfortable knowing that everyone has all the augmented pieces they'll ever need, I'm dumping armormech for biochem too (presuming I'm still playing at that point)
