The cool down on the buttons hurts my eyes and causes a headache.

BW, this person has posted 3 times before this.

He/She is not the only one -- and the fact they made the time to post on the forums about it is very telling of what percentage of the player base has not. There is an example of this on every page of every thread about this issue.

Revert back ASAP. And I do not mean next Tuesday.

Sorry to say OP but I LOVE the UO and effects... sorry its making you sick.

Yeah I have nothing against you and others who like it.

I just want a button to revert. Or something. Anything but this. :(

My friend suggested that I cut pieces of paper to fit my screen and tape them over the ability bars.

I laughed, but not after considering it for a few seconds. :p

I would go to a Dr and get a referral to an eye specialist. I doubt anyone at BW is even slightly qualified to deal with your problem. You may have something wrong with you.

The only UI change that is effecting me is the new global cooldown effect, its far too dark for my liking and it find it difficult to play without being able to visually lock into my next button click....I would like that to be changed so that the cooldown effect doesnt obscure ( as badly ) the other buttons.

I haven't gotten sick from the new UI yet, but I also can't stand playing for more then 5 minutes because Bioware has managed to break PvP again so I can't comment on how I react over long periods of time to this change. I will say I find the new UI too annoying and flashy though. I'm not diagnosed with ADD or anything, but all the flashyness and white outlines in the new UI is drawing my attention more to my action bar then the actual on screen action. Edited by Norke

I'm fine. Seriously. If they get rid of this new UI or at least allow a revert option...

I'm not the only one. Lots of people have the same reaction. It is simply a form of motion sickness and a migraine inducer.

Simply: I'm pretty sure I'm not the problem. The game is.

Methinks you should read the whole thread first.

It's an issue NUMEROUS players are having since patch. Nothing to do with OP, OP's brain, or whatever.

So at first SWTOR was blue screening your computer, now it's blue screening your brain.

PS: Oddly you had an earlier UI thread last week too.

I lol'd.

Bluescreening was fixed by applying an update from windows. Turns out I missed one when I purged everything off my computer eariler.

But yes, I'm hoping they get moving on some changes I like. I REEEEEEALLY want this game to be better. :o

People need to check the OPs post history. He's been posting non-stop since around 6 am this morning. Last night, he has about 5 hour gap where he stops posting, preceded by another litany of posts.

I think, gentle readers, that you can draw your own motivations regarding this obsession. I know I have.

I don't see where the OP would have the time to actually play the game, lol. Perhaps if he slept, you wouldn't be sick?

Your photosensitive m8. And what you described are all symptoms of it as well. You even agreed your mildly sensitive to light later in this very thread.

The UI may be causing the problem but for many its not a problem because we dont suffer from that.

My wife doesn't and I dont get headaches playing so clearly it cant be the UI melting everyones brains and making everyone sick and unable to play.

Its an illness and you should probably consult a doctor tell him you get headaches and all the other symptoms when you play a game that has lots of flashing and see what he tells you to do..... your symptoms are pretty clear. You just want to use it as an excuse to rage on the game even more.

What better way to troll then to use the new UI change as a reason your getting sick when its an illness you have always had lol.

He's not photosensitive, lol. Check his post history. He's stirring up trouble. Probably read about photosensitivity on wikipedia and copy/paste the symptoms. What agenda he has, I can't say. But it's clearly anti-BW at every turn.

Anyone else getting migraines from the flashes in new UI?

Last two times I tried to play, the flashes hurt my eyes, gave me a headache, and caused minor nausea. Went away after logging and watching TV on laptop.

Here is my log of how I felt when I tried a third time:

T+ 0:00:01- Booted up game. Started playing normally.

T+ 0:10:00- Minutes in, noticed slight headache. Thought it might be placebo.

T+ 0:15:00- Headache worsens. Nope, wasn't placebo after all, was it?

T+ 0:25:00- I feel the need to take Tylenol but resist to try to do my little "experiment" here.

T+ 0:45:00- Headache is moderately bad. Noticed my left eyelid twitching every now and then around this point. Very obvious migraine.

T+ 0:55:00- Slight nausea noticed, headache remains moderate.

T+ 1:20:00- Nausea increasing somewhat. Headache the same.

T+ 1:30:00- I quit the experiment. Obvious enough that something besides the game wasn't causing this. It was the game.

I gain a similar effect to what I went through above by being under bad florescent lighting for any length of time greater than 15 minutes. And YES I was FINE before this patch.

And it makes sense, at least to me, because I have heard that lighting from a peripheral vision angle can start, aggravate, and make migraines and even seizures worse. The UI flashes just so happen to sit in the peripheral vision for me on both my gaming laptop and desktop computer.

Your UI LITERALLY makes me ill. Call me a troll. Call me whatever. I Don't care.

Here is a Screen-Capture of the log I kept where I would alt-tab out and write down how I felt.

For the group of other people feeling like this and getting similar headaches, dizziness, and nausea that I've seen on the forums: I'm going to try this experiment again soon, and I'm going to mess with the brightness settings and turn it down to see if I can make it better. I'll also experiment with smaller/larger resolutions and moving away and towards the computers. Hopefully they get rid of this. I don't want to use a gosh darned binocular to have to play this game.

Also, turning the lights on in the room help, for those looking to feel better and feeling similar to how I did, try this.

Bioware this is how you fix the problem:

Reduce the flashing. That is probably at the root of this. Perhaps some kind of mellow glow around the action ready to use would be nice? You guys use that elsewhere in the game, right?

Purely for game reasons, please make the GCD blacking-out effect more transparent. Better yet, scrap the effect you have, and go with counters or a "clock/pie" effect. I can't see who is in range and who isn't. Healing is hard. Neither can I see when certain cooldowns go off when they do.

OR allow us to have an option to revert to previous pre-patch settings. I never had any problems I was aware of with those.

Needless to say I'm pissed. You also owe me a few Tylenol.

i have been playing for 5 hrs straight now ever since i got off work. i like the new UI. its not even that bright honeslty.....

A lot of people are suffering from headaches and eyestrain that wasn't there with the old UI.

The new one is just too.....AGH.....for quite a handful of players, and is in fact greatly affecting playability.

I have poor eyesight. I take a medication that makes me sensitive to such things as well. I could play this game just fine up until the patch. Now it is agony.

I'm not trying to deny anyone their new shiny UI. I just want Bioware to be aware of how it affecting me. Hopefully they will add an option for a toned down UI for those with issues like mine.

Not all of us react to things the same way.

Think what you may, but my end goal is being able to play and have fun.

And also, I am medically trained as an EMT and need no wikipedia to know what photosensitivity is. In fact, the reason why I am posting on here is that I am studying various medical topics and reading the forums in my off-time. I like to write. It is a favorite past-time of mine.

Take that as you will. I have no quarrel with you.

if it was the entire screen flashing i could understand, but its just the combat skill icons at the bottom of the screen. which tke up maybe 2% of the screen

Your eyes can still see things like that, especially with fairly large moniters like what i have.
