i agree with the OP 100%. i can't tell the difference between a pvp and a pve server at this point the game, and that's just sad. its Empire vs Republic! Star Wars practically defined sci-fi good vs evil, if ever there was a game set up for a good pvp fight, this is it.

we should be fighting over objectives on every planet other that the starter planets! Ilum is not what i'm talking about, either. Ilum isn't even a pvp planet, its just another warzone you don't queue up for. if you kill someone on Ilum outside of the Battle for Ilum map, you don't get valor. might as well be on a pve server.

the lack of pvp options in this game are especially sad considering the potential. if something doesn't improve soon, i suspect a large portion of the pvp community will be moving on soon.

I recently realized that Balmorra is totally seperate for reps and imps. The zones look identical, but in each and every camp the NPCs are just of the own faction giving different quests. The whole stories there are two alternate realities. In hindsight Taris is probably the same.

That's a total turn off for me... and I wondered why I never met players of the opposing faction :s

Wholeheartedly support. I was very disappointed when I learned that you never really have surprise PvP. I rarely ever see people just walking around or get attacked during a quest. Also planned and instanced, kind of sad.

Nowadays I do not even get attacked when meeting some of the opposing faction...

Well, guess that's what happens when dev do not know or care bout pvp though....

To start off with, Open World PVP is the best there is. Open World PVP should be the main focus for future PVP content, in my opinion, and not instanced PVP. While instanced PVP can be fun, it quickly becomes stale after the upteenth time playing in the same area, doing the same thing. In Open World PVP, truly OPEN, the battles are always different, and can become massive in scale.

Open World PVP is never balanced, but that aspect is what makes it remain exciting. Overcoming an enemy that has superior numbers is very satisfying. Crushing an enemy that has weaker numbers is almost as satisfying. There are no scripted locations that it can take place. Something as simple as a gank can provoke an hour long confrontation between multiple guilds.

Devs, please expand upon OPEN World PVP on PVP servers. Remove the invisible exhaustion walls protecting factional medical centers. Lower the NPC guard numbers and difficulty protecting factional areas. Let there be no safe havens beyond Coruscant and Dromund Kaas. To prevent game-killing camping of medical centers, allow a medical center recall to a safe planet, such as the starter worlds.

PVP servers should stand out from PVE servers by more than merely being constantly flagged. Why worry with being flagged if no one can attack you? There is no penalty for dying in this game, so please open up the PVP on PVP servers.

Addition #1: Allow the option (for areas already found) to spawn at other medical centers on the same planet, in addition to the nearest medical center, with a small wait time that increments similar to the droid revival. This will keep players from being unable to leave an area if it is under attack.

Addressing comments/suggestions:

  • Corspe looting won't be happening. Devs have stated as such.
  • Faction imbalance can be overcome by guild alliances and planning. Communicate with your peers.
  • Ilum is ONE planet. OPEN World PVP should take place across the galaxy on PVP servers.
  • Incentives to participate, such as valor or commendations etc., are important, but the first goal is for OPEN World PVP to be expanded so it can take place in more areas on PVP servers.
  • Sharding/Phasing of the planets definitely hurts OPEN World PVP, but hopefully it will be gotten rid of soon anyway. Before the forum wipe, it was mentioned that it would at least be reduced sometime after launch.

To all who may post, leave your ganking/camping/griefing complaints to yourself. On a PVP server, those things should be allowed and encouraged, else there be no difference between PVE and PVP servers.

/signed, I have been asking for this since I started playing.

I'm All for world pvp but like on my server faction imbalance plays a major part

And just a lack of players last night I was the only rep

In ilum on my realm and the one other rep that eventually

Came declined the group request from me

Also I think if they add more neutral

Quest hubs like the one in voss we would see a bit more

World pvp

Suggestion: A Simple Way to Fix Ilum

http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=292895

Please show support if you like it!! Please spread the word to other active PVPers, especially battlemasters! This is the first step to what the OP is asking, and is quite feasible. It also addresses the server imbalance issues.

/sign! I must also add I am not 50 yet. As a slow leveler I get attacked on every planet I quest on. I don't cry, I call out for back up and the pvp we get is always FUN.

I also think if you only get valor for killing people within 5 levels of your own that would keep the gank groups limited.

So how about giving people a REAL reason to use the existing open world PvP areas, like Smuggler's Den. Money makes the world go round, so provide some sort of credit incentive and I guarantee there will be hoards of people there. Going there once to buy two mounts doesn't really give people a reason to return.
