  1. A few opinions in caps for TLDR people. I'm honestly sad to say, No. The voice over was cool the first time through to about level... 30. And then, for me personally, it's simply repetitive and intrusive. But then I don't have ADHD and never minded READING either. LOTRO, for example, can have extremely wordy quests that reference lore and so forth, after giving TOR a hard honest try from beta until a few weeks ago I think I prefer it the old way. I can't believe I'm saying this because it's one of the reasons I followed this game for years, bought the CE (and digital delux for someone else) and was going to dump my other MMO sub with the wife and some friends. Many of us are underwhelmed with multiple things, including unfortunately one of the supposed pillars of innovation for this game (voice acting) that I was very much looking forward to, but as with other failed MMOs in the past the worst thing about this game is the limitations of the engine they've chosen as it relates to COMBAT AND RESPONSIVE GAMEPLAY. Things like amount/difficulty of content can be changed and fixed over time, especially when there are resources like BioWare's to expend. I just don't think they'll EVER be able to get combat right though, and until I'm convinced that it is as fluid and responsive as it should be, there are just simply too many other games out there that don't make me feel as though I'm FIGHTING THE UI INSTEAD OF ENJOYING THE GAME ITSELF.
  2. Absolutely impossible to live up to quarter BILLION dollar hype. Just the way it is. Good game, but great? No. I feel that it still has potential but that far too many resources were sunk into the voice acting ****, which frankly after a few hours of play (or ANY time spent on an alt doing the same quests) feels like a gimmick.
  3. At least in this way, they're like every other company supporting a MMO. "Keep paying us, we'll make it cool don't worry... soon."
  4. They're always a waste of money, and I know that going in each and every time so I don't regret any purchase. I will say unless this game picks up some serious steam and reverses course in the next couple months (they need to do it fast) then yes it will have been a rip-off in terms of money/value.
  5. K that's fine but if you're talking about including things like dailies, achievements, crafting, exploration and so forth being "end game" then both WoW and LOTRO (and probably others, Rift) absolutely dwarf TOR in its current state.
  6. What you're trying to say is, Rift did a far better job with far fewer resources at releasing a polished game, and then following up with rapid content releases and feature implementations to match people's WoW-clone expectations? ....k, I agree. The market is pretty competitive for people to be saying "wait be patient just be patient and wait". Other games have features and proven developer attention. It makes FAR more sense to support THIS game based on its strengths. Storytelling, the IP itself, what have you. Saying "just wait it'll be like WoW soon enough" isn't good enough for people who have other options and, rightly, who also don't want to compare this game to a 2004 release. I'm not saying Rift is a good game. I'm not saying WoW is a good game. I'm not saying TOR is a good game. But I disagree with yet another "give it time because WoW didn't launch with XYZ features in 2004" thread.
  7. They should never, ever have admitted to bringing on people who worked on that game. There are too many similarities to list at the moment, but that game (like this one) had massive potential and look at it now. I'm not saying this game will follow or anything, I just think they need to keep at it before too many people leave. I DOUBT that will be a problem given the IP involved here, but you never know. I hate playing the "what could have been?" game with some of these titles.
  8. 2 mil bought dropping to 1.7 actual subs is similar to the percentage difference between what was happening with WoW's number decline during Cata. Funny, then, how fanboys can be so adamant one game is dying and the other game is somehow in a hugely successful spot. The only way TOR can really be considered a blockbuster (especially when considering the gargantuan development gamble) is if it does an additional 1.7mil current/active subs added each say, year, for the next 2 years. If we can have this discussion some time next year and TOR has at least, hopefully, 3 million subs instead of 300,000 I'll be impressed. From what I've seen so far the game had great potential and they simply weren't prepared for launch. I would HATE to see this game go the way of Warhammer but you know... they bring on (are forced to work with) some of the same people, they're probably going to get what they deserve. Just sayin'... still burned by that game, so fool me twice shame on me.
  9. Dude I would *********** HOPE this game is more polished at launch than WoW, considering it was released how many years later and for how many times as much money? I'm not talking about voice acting polish either. End game content, basic gameplay, UI features and functionality, basic things that other sub based MMOs with a fraction of this game's development time and money were able to achieve from day 1. If you're having fun WONDERFUL, I'm honestly glad you still have a Star Wars MMO to call home and it's true there are many things to like about this game... that said I also hope you fanboys keep throwing money at BioWare for me so that hopefully in a year or so this game will be amazing. In the meantime, I'm cutting my losses after gambling on the collector's edition and sinking a lot of time and effort into various forms of feedback that myself and many others feel weren't listened to. Either way good luck.
  10. Not going to happen. EA could, BioWarecon absolutely not. Too many reasons to list.
  11. As long as you're appolagizing. ... appolagy accepted.
  12. Hundreds of millions of dollars and how many years of development later, TOR? Right. I think people are perfectly justified in comparing the two as they are, today. If you're a customer and you're choosing which product to buy, you're buying and playing TODAY's PRODUCT. Not WoW's 7 years ago, not WoW's 4 years ago... not what TOR's might become at some random point in the future. You can only consume either product as they're being presented to you right now. Why in the world wouldn't you compare them. People are ridiculous.
  13. Congratulations? Good god people act so extreme about these games. It's not like you're deciding whether or not to keep a child or buy a house. I'm glad you... changed your mind about TOR? Have fun, when you start disliking it again here's to hoping you can continue to will yourself into some kind of enjoyment. By the way for the inevitable responses I'm not a troll. I'm also not a fanboy. I bought the CE as well, to support BioWare and to see what would happen with this game. I'll come back at some point if they continue to respond and improve. All I'm saying is, why is everything always so extreme on the intertubes. You like the game cool, play it. You dislike it, why force yourself to pay and play?
  14. There's a difference between "talent trees" that actually matter, and what you're talking about vs. what MoP will have. Being forced into a bunch of extraneous 3% crit or 2% haste "talents" has zero effect on real gameplay in a world where Torhead now exists and it didn't 7 years ago. All that matters is when you're given the choice of "this gameplay changing ability" or "that gameplay changing ability". MoP still has that. In fact, moreso than what's allowed currently. Moreso than what TOR allows for currently. If you knew what you were talking about, you'd understand that more flexibility is better for gameplay, and what you're describing is actually a positive as compared to this stale old useless "talent tree" system. Good day.
  15. Huge, giant red flags when they supposedly merged the Mythic team for their supposed "experience". Scared me, feared for the worst, and those idiots have surely impacted this game, which COULD have been such a great one.
  16. That's the funniest part of all, for sure.
  17. Beta testers did quite a lot, actually. Or tried to. Whether or not attention was paid to issues that needed it vs those that didn't, that's another story.
  18. This game is not "massively" multiplayer. Slight correction there. Otherwise I agree, it's a "multiplayer online rpg".
  19. It's only going to matter when end game content matters. People also don't want to be invasive, I really believe they just want to theorycraft/make sure their guild has optimum players on the one hand, or make sure there isn't someone doing absolute bare minimum in their flashpoints on the other. But whatever, this is a tough argument for BW to win no matter which way they go. Ultimately, if they are serious about supporting this game's pve, they'll have to have it. Something tells me this won't happen though.
  20. People care enough to write very constructive, reasoned feedback. It isn't trolling, it isn't hateful, it isn't fanboyish, it's JUST carefully written opinion. If they didn't care they wouldn't post at length in such a manner. Take a step back and realize it's good for the long term health of the game.
  21. Glad it's getting looked at, hope it makes a difference. Also hope there's enough content to justify the combat if/when it gets fixed.
  22. I'll try not to be sarcastic, and instead just say I'm glad you're enjoying the game.
