  1. just noticed this on my companion. http://i48.tinypic.com/140jfok.jpg can anyone read it and tell us what it says? EDIT 4/30 some people in this thread have indicated that it is in fact hebrew writing, but that the characters are flipped. they have translated part of it to mean "United forever" and to refer to the Rol system possibly. a lot of people have asked for better angles, so here they are: http://i48.tinypic.com/2z6un2u.jpg and the individual images: http://i47.tinypic.com/jh78lz.jpg http://i50.tinypic.com/119ta9w.jpg http://i45.tinypic.com/30mv243.jpg http://i47.tinypic.com/34eyiz9.jpg http://i50.tinypic.com/20acmdt.jpg let's keep this going and try to decipher the whole message. it appears to be two sentences separated by a period at the back of the helmet. EDIT 5/2 much of the text has been translated, but there are words that don't make sense. this could be due to blurry letters being mistaken for other letters, making nonsense words. see pages 4-7 for the rough translations.
  2. i don't think so. most likely when you log back in, it will put you in the coordinates that you were last in, i.e. many meters in the air with no balloon in sight.
  3. the vendor is gone, since 1.2 released. i don't know if there's another way to get purple, but i know white is 100% impossible to get now except by buying it from someone who bought it a while ago.
  4. my guess is they were banned for using hacks and they want to blame it on something else.
  5. the republic motifs are very much inspired by the OT rebellion, which is not only inconsistent with common sense, it's inconsistent with the PT establishing that the imperial tech was all originally republic tech, and worse, it's not even consistent with KOTOR. and don't even get me started on the imperial/republic logos in this game.
  6. if you check with /kneel, you'll notice it isn't actually the same animation. i think it looks pretty cool, actually, especially on my sith warrior, to log in with a Darth Vader "What is thy bidding, my master?" pose. i hope they never 'fix' it.
  7. and actually, since you've written this app to work in an offline mode (i.e. not live), you might as well port it to ASP.NET and skip the whole .exe nonsense all together.
  8. the combat log can only be read by a 3rd party app, and Bioware does not provide one. this was the intent all along and the devs have said as much. to the OP. i used to be a .NET developer (back when it was 2.0). it's good to see people still use it, because i think it's possibly the best developer's framework around, but so many people are just too anti-MS to even look at it. but then, you're using php??? you already know .NET, just use ASP.NET! it's literally no different than what you're already doing with your windows app.
  9. ok so calling was pointless. their automated answering system first greets you with a recording of a garbled message about who knows what that was obviously recorded by someone using a conference phone and refused to pick up the handset. afterwards, you're shunted into a hypercard labyrinth of choices that you think will lead to a CS agent, but all of the choices are illusory. they all lead to a bunny with a pancake on his head that says your request is invalid and hangs up on you.
  10. first someone uses a j in casual, now a z in sabotage, but i digress... yes the in-game CS is horrible. i have yet to receive a helpful answer to anything i've ever put in. and it's pretty clear that some of them don't actually speak english very well and simply copy and paste canned responses. sometimes, my interactions with them follow the pattern: "i have problem X, is there a fix?" "I am sorry to hear about your having of Problem Xing. At this time, we cannot allow you to know the solution, but we have forwarded your suggestion to the developers and we advise that you watch future patch notes to see if your advice is implemented." and i'm thinking, "i made a suggestion???"
  11. seems they must have planned something like this all along. i always wondered why they used 1 model ID to refer to 2 different models depending on which faction you were playing (like a black sith robe with the hood down turns into a brown jedi robe with the hood up if you view it on a jedi), and before we could mail things cross faction, there were a lot of jedi/trooper only armors that crafters were selling on the imperial GTN for basically pittance because there was no way (other than the Nar Shaddaa GTN) to sell them to anyone that could use them. and strangely, even those gear pieces that only worked for one faction would have different appearances when dressing-roomed on the opposite faction. merging all of the GTNs cuts out a lot of the irritating run-around, and with gear apparences set by your faction and not the gear ID, it doesn't incur any of the problems that Blizzard used to always trot out as an excuse for why they would absolutely never ever allow this.
  12. yeh, i tried everything. Lt. Ha'laa gives out the quest, and he doesn't have anything for me. i completed part of it, so i'm fairly certain the quest-giver i need is behind a red wall. i drove all around Ilum looking and found nothing but red walls. i'll try calling them. even if this isn't a 'bug' per se, it can't be that the developers intended to lock people out of end-game forever if they dropped a quest.
  13. so i'm following the advice of the in-game customer service representative responding to ticket 5078904 to put a suggestion in the forum suggestion box. i accidentally dropped the Crystal Ball quest chain on Ilum and now i cannot pick it back up. since completing the chain is a prerequisite to do the Ilum daily quests, i am prevented from doing those as well. i first put in a ticket asking how i could pick the chain back up and was told that CS agents cannot give quest advice so as not "to spoil the in-game story." a simple misunderstanding, so i put in another ticket reiterating that i'm not asking for quest advice, i'm asking how to complete the required quest chain so that i can partake in end-game content in the form of daily quests if i accidentally dropped it while in progress. there are no questgivers for me on Ilum, and so i suspect my part of the chain can only be picked up behind a red wall. the second response assured me that this was working as designed and that if i don't like it, i should put in a suggestion here. so here's my suggestion; allow a level 50 to do level 50 content.
  14. the gear treadmill is what MMO end-game is like. if you're not having fun doing it, then MMO end-game just isn't for you. you could roll alts, collect datacrons, collect rare items (like speeders, pets, crystals), but the meat of any MMO's end-game is always going to be raiding to acquire new gear to raid to acquire new gear.
  15. i can confirm 1) sound issues 2) enemies not appearing on screen even though they've clearly spawned 3) ship no longer responding to movement 4) overall sluggish response from the ship when it does move
  16. ok, so i'm not one of the doomsday people, but this is an outright lie. EA's 10Q filing shows a net loss for the last two quarters, mainly because their previous gains were due to restructuring and could no longer be counted after October 2011. their stock price has been consistently dropping for the past 6 months as a result. either A) you're not actually an investor and you're blowing smoke or B) you're not reading your financial reports correctly.
  17. so i accidentally dropped the (Republic) Crystal Ball quest chain on Ilum. i think i had completed the first actual questing part where you disable something or other in some caves. now i cannot find any questgiver to pick it back up again. Lt. Ha'laa on fleet does not have anything for me, and there aren't any quests for me on Ilum save for the two dailies i'm able to do (since I haven't completed the chain) and the two flashpoint quests. anyone know what i can do to pick this chain back up?
  18. the second zabrak is the red-black version (which isn't really a zabrak but eh..) there is no second human option.
  19. lately, i've been noticing on my server a lot of imps disappearing through the floor and reappearing elsewhere, fully healed. and by a lot, i mean almost every single imperial player i've come up against on Space Slug is doing this to some degree. some reappear only a few feet away, flying up from beneath the ground, but with others, when i can whittle down their HP to about 5-10%, just pop right through the ground, my character's head even pans down until they're gone and no longer targetable, and i won't see them again, but i'll hear through vent that they're now harassing players on the opposite side of the map with full health. pvping on this server as a republic player is absolutely pointless now since the end of literally every match has the imperials averaging 50-60 kills and 0 deaths. and with the way pvp rewards work, republic players can't even outplay the cheaters because we can't get any gear, we're losing every match! from the people i've talked to on my server, the hardcore pvpers on the republic side have basically resigned themselves to this, that they will lose every match and never complete their dailies. and the casual pvpers are just done with it. not even going to try anymore because there's plenty else to do. you win imperials. you cheated yourselves into complete pvp domination. enjoy your huttball matches.
  20. this is also what i was hoping for, to use sith warrior / trooper tattoos on a consular, and i can confirm that you cannot do this for humans.
  21. well they did say it also unlocked all the options, like twileks having scar body-mods on the imperial side should be available to republic characters now, too, and not just the battle-scars. that was actually the example the dev used, the scars that twileks have. i haven't tested that or heard one way or another if any of that is true, but i was disappointed to find that it doesn't work at least with humans.
  22. so a dev at the guild summit said leveling a species to 50 unlocks all of the character customization options that the species has (like scars and tattoos). well, this appears not to be the case for humans, as leveling one to 50 does not unlock tattoos for classes that don't already have a tattoo option, and even then, you don't have access to the other faction's tattoos. so... yeh. leveling a human to 50 really actually provides nothing beyond the presence buff. that's a big bummer.
  23. I find that even with T7 having a critical chance at slicing, it's just not profitable to send my companions out on slicing missions. I have slicing at 400 and I basically just break even on mission returns. In fact, I probably lose more money than I gain since when I gain money, it's something like 30 credits on a 1400 credit investment, and when I lose, it's on the order of 200-400 credits. That T7 returns a bunch of skill missions when he crits isn't helpful when the vast majority of them are diplomacy or bioanalysis, missions which people very rarely buy from the GTN. So, is slicing just not viable any longer as a crew skill? It seems like it was nerfed way too much. Besides getting 1000 credits every now and then from a node in the world, it's not really generating any cash flow at all, and in the meantime, my companions just sit on my ship doing nothing. And I'm starting to suspect it's actually sucking credits out of my account with more losses than gains, but I haven't bothered to check.
