  1. It seems you ran into the trouble I had when I first started parsing. Here's what I did to fix it and break 4k: 1. Read this thread: http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=786050 PvE vets in this thread gave me a lot of stuff to help with my gearing and stats 2. Chain your casts together 3. Use Force Speed on CD to get the double proc is not brilliant idea. After some work I can now avg above 4.1k now. I am running some 198/192 comms stuff with not a single piece of set bonus. (2 mil repair bill on SM lurker still nope R.I.P.)
  2. The way I interpret it 5% alacrity means you get on extra GCD every 20 GCDs. In solo ranked, especially 4 DPS matchups, someone is usually dead within 20 GCD. In case there is a healer, let's say that 1 extra GCD is a thundering blast, which hits for 8k tops without a double relic proc, probably lower if you are stacking a bunch of alacrity. In that case I don't think the extra 1 GCD dmg is barely making up for a heavy surge lost. I do believe, that in a long fight, such as regs or grp ranked, alacrity works because it speeds up dot tick and reduces cooldowns. But for solo ranked, which is the majority of PvP I play, I don't see a marginal gain from dumping surge into alacrity.

    I've observed in solo ranked where there's a 3 dps + 1 healer matchup, the side that gets a good ghetto guard becomes significantly harder to kill.

    Inb4 anything this is not another whining thread. I don't whine, I kill. I've seen some people complaining about ghetto guard, and the other day I came across an idea that might help with this situation: Bind tank form to tank spec only, just like how it bound unstoppable to Shien form. It's a very easy fix and from my point of view it doesn't hurt regs, solo ranked, group ranked and/or PvE gameplay, but show me if I am wrong. It gets rid of that somewhat annoying ghetto guard in ranked. Admittedly ghetto guard is not that powerful, especially if you are not vengeance juggernaut, but if a vengeance juggernaut who is very good at surviving is doing ghetto guard it can easily turn the tide of a solo ranked game.
  6. My sniper is at lvl 37 atm which means none of those high lvl good stuff, i.e. no sniper volley, no followthrough blah. I have a severe energy starve when I am trying to PvP on my sniper. Is that what supposed to happen, or am I doing something tremendously wrong? If you think I am doing something colossally wrong, please show me how I can improve. Thanks!

  8. That's a very interesting min/max strat. Thanks a lot for the info! My lightning sorc ends up with 25.01 crit, 1588 bonus dmg, 78% surge. I am thinking about trying out the min/max build you are using and see what surge I can get if I ditch all alacrity. Thanks again! I am going to add this build to my sorc compendium.
  9. Currently taking 0. There are good sorcs out there who kept around 2-3% after min/max, which would give a theoretical boost to your DPS, but I personally choose to disregard it because I play mostly solo ranked, so 2% alacrity's DPS boost is barely noticeable in most fights where how hard you hit is way more important than how fast you hit.
  10. I actually started this pre-season as a madness sorc, but when I saw the 6-pc set bonus I kind of realized devs had no madness in mind. "Lightning strike reduce recklessness CD by 1 sec" As a DoT spread class I hardly have the opportunity to spam more than 1 lightning strike before demolish comes on CD if I want to spread my DoTs far enough.
  11. Shock breaks up your rotation and cast queue, and it's energy damage so it gets heavily mitigated by armor and def/abs stats. If you absolutely need kill the target right now, like it has to be this GCD otherwise the target will recover, and none of your instants are off CD, just use Force Slow. Believe it or not, Force Slow can crit for 4.3k on a well geared toon. If it doesn't crit it still gives a 2k-ish kinetic damage.
  12. In a word if dmg is not enough to break it, it would last long enough for you to refresh it. If dmg is strong enough to break it, like a maul or a big hit, it will drop immediately and stop intercepting dmg. As long as static barrier buff is on you, the bubble is there, and intercepts all incoming damage.

  19. Hatred is a stealth class that has burst, AOE, amazing DCDs, and both ranged abilities and melee abilities. What really annoys me in solo ranked is that they can reset combat 3 times max, so totally immune to tunneling.

  21. Nerf Force Storm dmg by 50% and migrate the damage to my single target burst.
