  1. A Mandalorian Cathar is entirely possible, the Mandalorians often adopt children they find as orphans on the battlefield by their ritual of Gai bal manda , they are not an evil people, just very, very pragmatic about war. And being mandalorian is not about blood or what race you are, the Mandalorians do not care about race like the sith do. If someone fulfills the Resol'nare they are Mandalorian. So there could be potentially many Mandalorian Cathar as the desendants of the children adopted by Mandalorians after the battle of Cathar.
  2. Personally I think they would be all for it , especially if someone who later decided to RP chose poorly with their name and ended up choosing something silly and wants to change it.
  3. I am keeping my name for the characters I plan on changing race with, it was the promise of this race on the horizon that got me back into SWTOR after a 'vacation'.
  4. This guide is outdated now and needs to be updated or unpinned.
  5. If that system was implemented on a planet like that I would have no problem with it. PvE players could steer clear of that planet which would be an open ended warzone.
  6. If the difference is irrelevant then it is by definition a level playing field and the sole deciding factor of PvP matchs will be the skill of the individual players and how well they can coordinate their efforts, the days of someone in elite war hero gear effortlessly owning a player in PvE or recruit gear are over and players are pretty evenly matched. That said a person in green level 50 gear will still be an easy kill, but someone in underworld gear will be a formidable opponent who is not to be trifled with, and the PvE gear is not that hard to obtain (of course if you are skilled you can do more things to get ultimate comms & unassembled pieces, but a average skilled player will be able to get their verpine gear eventually) And more PvEers becoming at least part time PvPers is good for the game, you will have shorter queues for warzones and more opponents, this is a great step forward for the popularization of PvP in SWTOR which has been broken since day 1, And I am not afraid of PvP , I regularly PvP in games like global agenda, WoW and Guild Wars, I just steered clear of SWTOR since I saw that the system was fundamentally broken up until now and winning against a gimped opponent brings me no satisfaction whatsoever, but that has changed now and I am looking forward to seeing how the dynamics of PvP will change now that the playing field is level.
  7. To all the PvPers I will return the advice I have been given by you many, many times, Harden up. (After careful consideration I left out the expletives in that statement...) There is a level playing field now and people with PvE gear stand a reasonable chance of getting the skills they need to become decent PvPers, and it is time you stopped relying on the crutch of expertise gear that boosts your damage and armor to a point where nobody in PvE gear can touch you and pick your game up. In theory you guys should be more than a match for a fresh beginner because of all the experience you guys should of obtained from dominating PvP for over a year now so if you are losing it is probably because you have grown soft by being spoon fed easy victories for months by a broken system which some of you are desperately trying to have reinstated.
  8. Yep the DPS queue is so long that some tank/healer teams actually charge credits to 'run' DPS characters through the new hard modes so that they can get gear. That is right they expect to be paid about 100k credits each or they will vote to kick anyone who does not pay up.
  9. FFIX has an entrenched loyal subscriber base. This game would have to make you a well hung billionaire... with wings to get that level of support so soon.
  10. My sentinel is no fool, she took a full strike team of her strongest friends when she went to confront the emperor (guildies, not NPCs). On the ground of intersecting highways, join hands with your allies. ~Sun Tzu
  11. Iron Neko from Justice here. Yes I am Iron Neko, yes it is very cool to have your photo taken with me. nya!!
  12. Improving the affection level of your companions will mean that they crit more often and sometimes provide a custom quality recipe.
  13. having a super-queue approach where you could be matched against players from every other server and a significant deserter penalty (like being unable to requeue for one hour of logged in time) would relive the problem caused by premade 8 man teams, they will still be able to join as a 4 man group and play with friends and have a good time, but their odds of finding their other 4 man group so that they have a complete pre-made team would be significantly diminished , and the harsher deserter penalty would discourage them from simply quitting the warzone to try to get the 8 man team together. And if they are really desperate for a 8 man pre-made team they can always queue up for ranked warzones and have a 100% chance of getting their team together to face another 8 man pre-made. (and if the elite PvPers are even half as good as they claim to be then this should be a easy fight, or perhaps they really are just blowhards who can only win against an uncoordinated group of randomly selected people who have only just met)
  14. Good luck finding one with a vocabulary that extends further than "L2P Nubtard" and various other insults. All the PvPers I have asked for help have been less than forthcoming with advice and some actually gave me deliberately bad advice. (possibly so I would be an easier target in future.)
  15. The server I started on is now dead (Corellian Run) and my old guild did not survive the merge and the server I would like to play on (Starsider [sWG]) had the plug pulled on it by Lucusarts & Sony so Dalbora is the only home in a SW MMO that I still have and it is facing the same fate as the last 2 servers. So I am somewhat worried about this development. (I originally started on EU Infinity which got merged into starsider)
  16. That is not even the true cost of living forever. The real cost is that it is an absolute certainty that everyone you ever know and care for will die and leave you behind, and everything you like will always end never to come back. And there is the sheer mind numbing boredom of the millenniums weighing down upon you as you run out of new things to experience after doing everything to the point where it becomes boring.
  17. I am miles ahead of you on that one. My Sith Jedi is a paragon of goodness and light.
  18. I will probably throw an accent or a hyphen into my name if it is taken and keep my name.
  19. I have generally found that the hardcore PvPers who are fully set up in elite war hero gear learn what the recruit pvp gear looks like for the opposing faction and they rub their hands with glee as they focus fire on the newbie in their blindingly obvious recruit PvP gear and rack up some easy kills and medals. Wearing the recruit gear is a two edged sword, you may get some extra expertise but it also advertizes you newbie status and makes you a target for the hardcore PvPers. Personally I would of put the expertise on a set of armoring and mods and let them slot it into anything they like so that they would not look like obvious newbies (and easy targets). It is hard enough to learn to PvP against hardcore players who run warzones every waking moment without being made to advertize you are learning and being made a target.
  20. Just one little thing, would you mind talking to your members about using their imperial alts to whisper insults and general smack talk after Warzones, Bragging on the forums is fine and part of the game, saying something as a /say in the warzone itself is borderline, but I probably do not need to mention that changing characters just to insult someone from the other faction crosses so many lines.
  21. PvP probably won't be viable there for aussies, firstly it is a US server so you have the pacific cable to deal with, and secondly Harbinger has a bad reputation as being the laggiest of the US servers, so you are doubly gimped.
  22. Against, But I would like to see an XP bonus applied for people with multiple alts at level 50 to ease the grind of leveling alts up. Perhaps 10% extra XP for every class that they have that has completed the chapter 3 class story. (that would be a maximum bonus of 80% extra XP for someone with 8 characters in each of the basic classes)
  23. 1 social point per medal perhaps? It is not like social points do anything game changing aside from letting you have a few more costuming options and a couple of titles and emotes.
  24. I would like this system, where the need option is only available for classes that have an actual need for that item and do not already possess that item or something superior to it. This would prevent the shenanigans I have seen when someone in tionese gear has to watch someone already in dread guard gear roll need on a item that is a huge upgrade for them and equip it onto their companion in front of them. (like the BH gear from the Gree world bosses.) If someone wants the item for a companion or an alt, they could still come up with an agreement with the group that whoever wins the roll trades it to them after the roll, or alternatively everyone rolls greed and they take their chances at getting the non needed gear. It would take a small amount of coding to add this to the game, but it would result in a fairer system that could be used as one of the looting options. But to satisfy the people who are dead against this I would suggest that the old need vs greed system be retained so that if they do not like the new way they can keep using the old system.
