  1. Personally I would of preferred bioware's original plan for space combat (not being a rail shooter) but EA pulled funding so it never got made . (hence the reason for the cartel market, without it the game would go belly up)
  2. That and knowing gamers, within a week every planet would be a crater filled wasteland by the end of the first day if they introduced destructible terrain and buildings into a persistent world.
  3. The fact that the early advertizing said Cathar would be part of the expansion, so hopefully they will be released soon after the expansion goes live.
  4. Yep but a reasonable portion of players participate in PvP from time to time and if they are no longer able to do that effectively they will be pretty annoyed and not everyone has the money or the inclination to set up a tunneling service so that they can compete on a level playing field.
  5. The rot has set in, Name hijacking has begun, some lowlifes are harvesting names of people on Dalbora fleet and creating armies of alts on Harbinger with FTP accounts so that the people being transferred will have to pick a new name (or possibly pay them to delete their alt so that they can keep their name, that hasn't happened yet but I have seen this kind of character name blackmail in other games when they did server merges.)
  6. They need to do this or at least officially allow us to use third party tunneling services. I would be satisfied if they did something about the latency that will cause SWTOR to lose a LOT of APAC players.
  7. Accents are a pain if you want to whisper someone called Bíll and you type Bill since they look almost exactly the same.
  8. Congratulations, I just had to deal with a full quarter of my guild including some of our top ops team members announcing that they are canceling their subscriptions because the lag on a US server will be unplayable at top levels. *slowclap* Well done, Bioware, well done.
  9. Trollish Posting: My fondest wish is that I could liquidate the undesirables that continually pollute this forum with their inane drivel. ~HK-51 (Note to mods: This is written from what I feel HK might post on the forum if he could and does not reflect my actual views, It is presented as a short RP exploration of HK's personality and I am not actually trolling.)
  10. The Cathar will in all likelihood have a racial special that will be completely different to the other races. And this will probably be animated if the other racial specials are anything to go by.
  11. You get free cartel coins every month if you subscribe so you will be able to access the barber and race changes at no additional cost, although you will be restricted so that you can't play a different race every day of the week, which is as it should be, changing race should be a carefully thought out decision that you only do occasionally, not something you casually do for giggles because you are bored on a Friday night. And many people have been pushing for cathar from the beginning and when they RP they already have their RP set up so that they are a cathar and their group suspends disbelief a bit and pretends that they already look like a cathar. So properly done RPing a race change need not be unrealistic, and in fact it can be more realistic since in game appearance can now match a RP character description in this case.
  12. Personally I think that there are more enjoyable ways of powerleveling someone. I like to wait till someone has finished a planet then help them organize a group to take on the planetary heroic missions, the Voss reputation heroics & the regular Ilum dalies are an excellent way to level a character in their 40s to 50 in a day or two with the correlian heroics and flashpoints being used to fill in the gaps as needed.
  13. The basic rules for the priority for loot are as follows. 1: Actual players 2: Companions 3: Alts 4: Sell the item on the GTN This is how I distribute loot in raids when I play MMOs (adapted a bit for SWTOR). Firstly if I am raid leader and I have organized the raid I have master loot on at the beginning and tell everyone the loot rules so that anyone who disagrees can leave before we begin. Basically actual players get first priority for loot that is a genuine upgrade on their existing gear (if 2 or more people have a need that gear they can roll for it or come to an agreement amongst themselves) , then if nobody needs the item for themselves they can put their hand up for taking it so that they can equip a companion with it, then if nobody wants it for a companion players can then roll for it so that they can pull the mods out of it and send it to an alt in a piece of legacy gear. And finally if nobody wants it to use everyone can roll for it just to sell or to use as a costume piece that has no use other than looking nice (this only really applies to characters that can equip any armor).
  14. Correction - On a PvE server, a small portion of the Gree event consisting of only 2 quests and a relatively small area of 1/2 the event area of the map (of which only 1/2 of that is used with the other half being largely unused with one or two mobs being found there and a lore object at the old republic base) , so on a PvE server Ilum is largely a PvE event with a small portion of PvP being thrown in as optional content.
  15. I have noticed this a lot, if a GM is reading this I suggest they take a undercover character of theirs to the Gree pylons and check this out and see it for themselves.
  16. I have noticed a rather nasty tactic where a fully elite war hero geared stealther who is flagged for PvP will sit on a mission objective and hit improved stealth when someone tries to collect that item and accidentally clicks on them and auto attacks flagging them for PvP and a ganking. And another nasty tactic where a flagged player will run into a AoE attack to cause the person using that attack to flag up so that they can be ganked by their gang of friends waiting nearby. The PvP flagging system needs to be reworked so that gankers can not force someone who doesn't want to PvP to flag up so that they can be ganked. Personally I would fix these examples the following way if a stealth class is using their stealth ability then they will be unable to be targeted by non flagged players thus preventing unintentional attacks. and similarly for AoE attacks a flagged player is unable to be effected by a AoE cast by a non flagged player. EDIT- or better yet make non flagged players unable to damage a flagged player until they hit the flag for PvP button and consent to PvP. (of course for PvP servers this would have no effect since everyone is already flagged.)
  17. Personally I would like to see an Imperial trooper class since you see them all the time as NPCs and I would also like to see bounty hunters working for the republic since they are meant to work for the highest bidder and sometimes the highest bidder could well be the SIS or the army of the republic.
  18. My agent on empire side is LS purely because she takes the pragmatic view of not breaking potentially useful tools that she can use in the future. She will not simply kill a prisoner, but she will make sure that they live so that they can end up serving the empire whether or not they are aware of it in the future. She is not exactly nice either because even the LS choices on an imperial character tend to have a grimdark end to them so that for instance a prisoner who you spare may well have a full interrogation at the hands of the sith or imperial intelligence in their future with any number of sharp pointy objects being used on them.
  19. I have little to no interest in PvP and when I get dragged into a PvP group because I have been cajoled or bribed I only do moderately well, is it wrong of me not to have any interest in PvP or getting better since this aspect of the game does not excite me?
  20. The mats are probably going to be worthless after the expansion if they are stabilizers and energy matrices so you should sell them while you still can. Also cross server legacy would have to be additive rather than the one or the other affair that can be implemented by a GM at the moment, add the XP of the legacies and combine the perks purchased or earned (with a limit of 1 per account of course) so that if I decided to roll a fresh character on a RP server for instance I could still enjoy all the stuff I earned on my other characters.
  21. It could be a huge cash cow for bioware, they could package a race change with the unlock for new races like cathar when they are released and cash in on all the people who do not want to roll a new character to have the new race.
  22. A customizable player ship where you could select the furniture would greatly improve the immersion of the game , the cookie cutter sameness of all the ships gets a bit boring after a while, if you have seen one class's ship you have seen all of the ships from that class, there are only minor differences like how the companions are dressed. And having a ship or house that reflects your personality was one the selling points of SWG. I for one miss my gunboat, yacht, guild hall and houses from SWG and I would like the successor of SWG to implement something similar, even if it is just the interior of my ship.
  23. I had a 1447cr repair bill from a run through EV SM in full dread guard gear with 4 fresh 50s and 4 over-geared 50s to get our newer members geared up, so repair bills are not much of an issue if you play the OPs the correct way, now if you wipe time after time they can quickly become huge. My advice to people with high repair bills from OPs is to get the entire raid watch the how to guides on youtube and have everyone on vent or TS to get a bit of coordination and you should not wipe as much and get the job done relatively quickly.
  24. Play the GTN, buy low and sell high. Once you have a suitable amount of starting capital you can make an absolute killing on the GTN.
