  1. The con is that you have to travel all the way back to the fleet and or DK/Coruscant and you can't have presets. I guess you haven't played a raid healer, but outside of raiding it's just no fun. Take merc for example, one who specced for raiding would never put points to prevent pushback on power shot, unload, etc.. But without that soloing can be a real chore at times. There's no downside to dualspec despite the whine saying otherwise. So it's a reasonable request and one that will probably be listened to if it hasn't already, and I doubt all the whining to prevent it's inclusion will sway anyone.
  2. Despite it's intentions, this is the only route for those of us who like switching specs. Can't really complain about the costs as that's the intended mechanic for how it's supposed to be used but for those of us too stubborn to care are going to have to pony up for it. I do every single quest, did slicing (still do), and sell everything I can on the GTN. I switch for when I do flashpoints, then back for when I'm not.
  3. It's far more fit than any other I've played at launch save maybe for Rift and Lotro.
  4. Yeah, I've only PUG'ed for almost a decade now. While I occasionally get someone in group who has no idea how to play well with others, I'd say they're few and far between.
  5. Eh, would rather not see a damage meter / combat log. Turns gameplay into a spreadsheet and while it's great for the number crunchers it tends to require the devs to fine tune the content so that you need a parser in order to complete it. So yeah, just keep it as is.
  6. Yeah, real life sucks in that way. There's no real downside to having it, and it's not switching AC's, just talent point distributions. So yeah, having it would be a plus. Can even make it so you have to pay a large fee to unlock it if that makes you feel better.
  7. Yeah definitely need dual spec.. The cost of switching between DPS and healer at the mentor is getting quite insane.
  8. Frankly.. No. I love it, I've enjoyed every planet so far but if you don't find the side quests and combat to be satisfying enough with the high concentration of story content on the first several planets then no it's not going to get any better. Class quests get more sparse as you have to spend more and more time doing side quests before you can continue them as you go. I'd give it till Nar Shaddaa and if by then you're still finding the game to be a drag I'd quit and move on. Can definitely see why the combat wouldn't be for everyone. It gets pretty bad near 50 when almost every encounter has a strong in it which doesn't make it harder, just longer. Wouldn't hurt though to try other classes before you give up though, never know..
  9. There's a difference between not rushing and making and playing several alts. I have no rushed, I've got one level 50 and playing my second character now. I level my crew skills while I do quests, since you can set it and forget it. So I'm not taking a day or two just to do that.
  10. I hope it's too many more batches of several days.
  11. It definitely makes using these forums a huge PITA. Rarely can I find the thread I've previously posted in. Doesn't help that they keep "temporarily" closing threads for clean up, whatever that means. That's when they really float deep into forum history. Over 10 days now without forum search.
  12. Probably best for everyone that the misconception exists though. One is reduces the amount of harassment and generally prevents more guys from making fools of themselves. Two it helps curve the power women have over men in video games. All that's out the window in a vent channel were women are generally the queen bee with a force of worker neckbeards doing their bidding. But elsewhere it's not quite so bad, but then there are those hopefuls who think that every female character they group with offers the chance for a gamer girlfriend.
  13. Would rather see forum search first as these forums are barely usable at the moment without it.
  14. Wait, Bayonetta was female? I thought it was some kind of mantis or some other type of insenct.
  15. Not exactly because if I see a painting of a field, I don't try and run into the painting and roll in the grass. However, that painting may remind me of a field near the home I grew up in. A video game example of a disconnect from reality would be me falling in love with my female character, or thinking that she may have feelings for me.
  16. Definitely I can. My mind recognizes and I think of food, and If I haven't eaten in a while I'm thinking of food at that point so I become hungry. Same with the female form. We are all a collection of geometric shapes, and depending on how well it's represented in a video game then that form should tell your mind that you're looking at a female and by doing so you should get some kind of desire out of it. It's no different than looking at a statue or painting of the female body, our mind creates associations to that with desire. So yes a painting of fruit can make me desire an apple, or an in-game model of a banana may make me want one of those as well. Again, it's essentially putting the thought in my head.
  17. Huh, it's just that it's an odd phenomenon all the same. Is it just like, pixels in a video game? What about photos? Do pixels in a photo also fail to create urges? Or art in general, like paintings, those don't create emotions for you? Movies, etc.. I could go on and on. Sorry I just find it interesting.
  18. So you'd be just as happy with a literal stick figure as your character. If everyone felt that way it would definitely save the developers a lot of effort lol.
  19. I'm guessing you hit on one and found out it was a guy? That's understandable but your own fault. If you don't find the female form sexy, then that's fine. Personally I do, rather it be in the flesh, a statue, a drawing, or game model.. That's not why I create female characters however, but still I can't say I don't see the form they represent. I'd have to be blind.
  20. That's really the primary reason people complain about it. Listen people, girls play video games. A lot of them do in fact and there's probably a rather good chance that the female character in your group is some guy's wife or girlfriend. Should you try and flirt and hook up with her? God no. It's like picking up a prostitute in Thailand.
  21. Disagree on several points. Allowing higher ranks to match up against lower ranks made ranking up worthwhile. Now, I was never rank 8, I was fully equipped rank 6 though and while it helped it didn't make me a killing machine. Focus fire always brought me down, I may have lasted 2 or 3 seconds longer thanks to the gear. Premmies that were fulling rank 6 or higher I'd agree were nigh unstoppable, but that was also due to the focus fire. I do agree that premades should go against other premades only, but I disagree that they would get bored otherwise. In fact many probably prefer to go against pugs because it's almost a 100% chance to win and while that may sound boring it's not for that mindset. I'm generalizing, but I'm confident that that's the case for majority that roll in premmies. While being in a premmy is perhaps fun in it's own way, I think for most the primary reason people join with one is for a higher chance to win. Pair them up with other premmies and they lose that edge. Not saying they shouldn't force premmies to queue vs other premmies, but I'd be curious to see how many quit over it.
  22. I hear ya. I don't really role play though I do have sort of a running narrative in the back of my mind while I play. I have a personality and story in mind for my character.
  23. I don't think anyone really is concerned with staring at a butt while they play. That was a defense used when people were being accused of being gay or girly or whatever for playing a female character.. Saying they don't like staring at a male characters butt all day is probably just a nifty comeback to forum mouth breathers.
  24. That would be awesome. Last thing I wanna do when I queue solo is be fodder for a premmy.
