  1. My sub currently pays for everything the game has to offer, why would I want it suddenly not to?
  2. I LOVE this game. But I suspect they are destroying it and whatever rich, epic content I was expecting to see with my monthly sub just got thrown under a bus in favour of the fast and easy profit in a Cartel Coins store.
  3. Why do I need cartel coins at all? To purchase things my sub apparently doesn't cover. IE: there will be limits/restrictions to what the sub fee covers, where previously the sub fee covered EVERYTHING (including fluff). If you don't understand what I'm saying, I can't explain it any better for you.
  4. Is it really? Before I paid flat rate and enjoyed everything the game has to offer. With f2p, apparently I can't anymore - there are going to be limits and restrictions on content, even for subscribers.
  5. If we get 100 coins a month and things cost 10000 coins, or even 1000 coins per item, I think not. Previously it was all included in game via the monthly price tag, now it's not?
  6. Considering how much it costs to produce the big stuff - I doubt it. It would hurt profitability of the game too much. I mean, if they aren't making profit now with the number of subscribers they have... Just, wow.
  7. Lol and this is why f2p generates revenue for ailing games - they are good at pulling the wool over peoples eyes to squeeze out more cash.
  8. Erm, considering what their word has been worth so far on this game (especially considering recent developments), I don't believe anything they tell us anymore. Sadly, it was mere days ago I had faith in EA/BW. What's said now can and will always change in the end.
  9. Eh whatever brings in the big cash will find it's way into the store. If that ends up being "p2w" items, then that's what will happen. See, that's what worries me about the design focus here - it's gone from "making a good game people want to play" to "well, this game isn't doing so well, let's fleece players for as much money as we can while it lasts". Dev time will be spent on whatever produces the most profit. By extension, anything that costs too much to make will be less desirable in that model, than things that require little time and effort to make. Fully voiced, storytelling in an MMO is expensive to make, game store items generally are not. What are they going to spend the dev time on? Cheap and easy - that's what. This is why f2p titles go bad and end up sucking.
  10. Yeaaaa... there is a reason I quit playing DDO and LotRO. They kinda suck.
  11. I agree with most of mightylawngnomes post (the previous poster). Thanks for spelling it out for me.
  12. F2P generally means minimal effort for maximum cash return. No doubt it would be a tantalizing business model for the game makers. Considering SWTOR players have been spoiled with the fully voiced, epic storylines in this game, "minimal effort for maximum cash return" doesn't exactly inspire confidence.
  13. So the things you got for subscription before will now cost you extra points your sub no longer covers.
  14. The fact you need points for anything as a subscriber makes me wonder why subscribe at all? Apparently subscribe isn't an "access everything for a monthly fee" option after all.
  15. All that voice work and RPG style storytelling that brought people and kept them engaged in the game will probably be the first thing on the chopping block as it's probably going to be unsustainable in a f2p game. The one thing I noticed with all the f2p games I tried was the mediocre quality I witnessed; I can't imagine any of them putting out the sort of stuff we are (were?) used to in SWTOR.
  16. Yeeep, I bought the game back in December and it cost a lot more than $70. Lol.
  17. What I don't get is how a company can lay-off/fire/let-go so many of the people working on the game, go F2P, and somehow put out MORE content and updates? It doesn't add up. Having played about 3 different f2p games and witnessed the shoddy workmanship and riff-raff for players that comprise them, I suppose you certainly get what you pay for.
  18. It's one of the things I dislike about the area designs - the fact that everywhere you go, you feel as if you are that lab rat running down an inescapable corridor with enemies every step of the way and an objective at the end. Turning back isn't much of an option, because the enemies you just fought already repopped. The only saving grace is the quicktravel button on a 30 minute cooldown. I don't explore much because it's just too much of a drag to have to fight everything to get anywhere and see stuff (not that there is much to see, except more enemies for RandomQuest and datacrons.)
  19. Gosh, I hope they don't get rid of the fleets. The capital planets get a ton of use on my server for many reasons, but the planet loading and lag can be horrendous. I prefer the fleet mainly because it's a relatively small area that seems a far more optimized for carrying tons of players and the load time is fairly short.
  20. LOL I like that, I will try it if the issue ever arises.
  21. Yea, in my experience, most folks don't care if people watch the cutscenes. Personally, I don't care either way, unless I haven't seen them before. Though, if people are willing to rant and kick someone for watching a cutscene, they probably aren't the kind of people I'd want to run with anyway.
  22. When we group with other people, it's a given that we may have to wait on them at some point or other because they are... well... people, and they come in many flavours, speeds and RL circumstances. They are not robots, or NPCs. This means sometimes waiting for random AFKing and may include playing the flashpoint as it was intended to be played, cut-scenes, bonus quests, and all. It also means tolerating different views and personal tastes from our own. Players working together requires organization, patience and tolerance. If we have no tolerance for the things other people may do, then it's probably best we don't group with random players we have no control over in a public queue. A lack of tolerance is better suited to solo play, and NOT group play, unless we form our own groups deliberately with like minded people we know. Unfortunately, I think some of us have lost touch what it actually means to play (and empathize) with real people through an online medium and this is contributing to the lack of patience and tolerance we see in game.
  23. This thread has inspired me to watch every cutscene in every group finder flashpoint I end up in on my healer and tank. Thanks to all for the encouragement!
