  1. Hm, guess that's that. Time to start finishing up the storylines I wanted to do before it's time to move on.
  2. First, the idea that classes should not be compared to each other is ludicrous. This is a game where there is pvp and group activities in which decisions must be made as to which players in which classes to bring to a match or encounter. Comparisons are part and parcel of the deal and OF COURSE they are going to happen. This is a very...poor choice of words. It is not a perception problem. The issue is that assault dps burst used to provide us with a tool that was useful and provided a level of competitiveness. That tool is now gone, so assault spec vanguards are left lesscompetitive. That's not a perception issue, that's a 'the spec was significantly changed and now is less effective' issue. In the sage and van responses, I'm seeing a lot of this idea that because these are not pure dps classes that somehow we should be happy with less dps than a sentinel or slinger. That ignores the reality of an op group...if you're going in as dps, you'd better be able to deliver the numbers. Taunts and heals are utility tools, much as slingers and sentinels have tools that can defend or buff a group. They are not a replacement for dps output.
  3. Word of advice? Stop using the word 'entitled.' It just leads to pointless arguments about the definition and negates anything constructive in your posts. You may also want to calm down a bit before you make your next post, since you're starting to sound a bit...foamy. I'm sure you don't want that since it's what you're on the other posters about. I'm sure the devs are working hard on this bug because they realize what the angry posters on here realize - if you happen to be using one of these sets for your high level toons and don't match the LS/DS alignment bug then you're effectively restricted from the high level content. For example, I have a gree set (white and blue mix) that I shift between my vanguard and my powertech for raiding. It's all augmented, fitted out with 69s and 72s, and I don't have a back up for those two toons. Neither of them are LS maxed. That means both these toons are effectively shelved till this bug is fixed.
  4. The other thing I was wondering about was how players dropping was going to be handled. Since objective 8v8 warzones and deathmatch 4v4 arenas are apparently going to be in the same queue without options to pick one or the other, you will have players who will drop when they get one they don't care for. With the current system, there's no real penalty for dropping. With arenas, one player dropping could have a devastating effect on their team. 1. Is there going to be any change to the way warzone dropping is handled? Penalties? 2. How is backfilling into arenas going to be handled?
  5. Quesh is my most hated planet. I can't stand the color scheme, it's toxic, it's small, and I don't like the questline on either imp or pub side. That said, at least it's easy to get around in. I get lost really really easily so when I set down on Balmorra, Corellia, Belsavis, and Taris I know it's going to take entirely more time than it should for me to get where I need to be because of the poorly marked tunnels, bridges, and gaps in walls. I can follow maps, but when those maps are poorly designed they don't do me much good. (To my guildies who have preternatural directional abilities and level with me, I thank you from the bottom of my directionally-challenged heart.) On the plus side, whoever developed the npcs for Balmorra should be commended because they have more personality as a group than almost any other planet. If the questlines and maps were better organized so I wasn't running back and forth and around and about it would probably be one of my favorite planets.
  6. Your thoughts on simple vs meta-questions mirror my own. I think meta-based questions have a lot more potential to get some meaningful answers beyond 'working as intended.' The dps numbers are defintely an area I would like to see addressed. I'm coming at this from a pve perspective, but the dps that gets put out is an issue in both pvp and pve.
  7. I know it's minor. Believe me, I know it's a minor thing, but the first thought in my head when I saw this list was 'REALLY?? They're first, again?!' Ah well, hopefully we'll get some real answers eventually for the classes that actually have issues.
  8. You know, I've done the Gree event on both pve and pvp servers. I had champion level rep (and could easily have had legend) months and months ago without ever setting foot in a pvp-flagging area. If you don't want to pvp, pick a pve server and don't go into areas that automatically flag you for pvp. This is simple. What is also simple is understanding that, yes, you are going to get less rep, less comms, less titles, etc if you don't pvp. That's true whether you're talking about the Gree event, warzones, or any other type of pvp-related content. If you don't take part in an aspect of the game, you will not get the rewards associated with that part of the game. That's entirely your choice.
  9. The freezes I've been getting since...crap, can't remember which patch 2.1 maybe?...where I hit a wall, can't move, and have to wait till all the extra stuff in the screen loads. Locations: Avesta Plantation, Senate Tower, and Fleet. Seriously irritating.
  10. Oh very cool!!! I like the use of light!! Sana being up there put a big stupid grin on my face
  11. I played pve assault/pyro for a long time; right now I'm working with a hybrid dps spec. I'm not an expert by any means and there may be more useful questions out there, but I'd really like to know why they reduced our burst and what they plan to do to make assault/pyro spec more viable.
  12. This is just based off of my experience with wow's arenas, but facerolls end quickly anyway since everyone on one side is dead super fast and that ends the match. The bigger issue with time is turtles. If you have a team that is virtually unkillable, they can just go in and sit there till the other team gives up in frustration.
  13. I'm curious to see if some of these arenas have moving parts. There does look like a lot of los, and that bridge - I'm hoping it's not a cheap knock-you-into-the-abyss kill method. Arenas definitely favor some classes more than others, so we'll have to see how this goes in terms of class balance.
  14. While it's a little early to be going all out, it's not a bad idea for the devs to see what kind of reaction they will be getting if all they release in what's supposed to be a major pvp patch is 4x4 arenas. Early feedback = possible course corrections.
  15. I'm hoping they're just hitting a few points on 2.4, because while I'm pretty pleased with new ops as someone who primarily plays pve, 2.4 was billed as the pvp patch. Any pvp question that has come up in the last months has been answered with 'just wait for 2.4.' If 4x4 arenas are it...good luck to you, devs, good luck to you.
  16. While I like having a unique look, especially something that took some effort to obtain, I won't wear it if I don't like the style of it. In line with this, if I really enjoy a very common look, I'll wear it regardless. Basically it breaks down to: utility > style > rarity But if it's an item that took some effort to get, I do love it more. If that makes me shallow, so be it, I'll own my failings.
  17. The fact that you blame others for inciting your behavior is extremely indicative of your character. Take responsibility for your own actions, because the decision to behave as you did is entirely yours.
  18. I have to say, this kind of response to a calm, harmless discussion is kind of amusing.
  19. I think it would be obvious that this discussion cannot dictate a business plan to BW with specifics. We are not insiders with access to the kind of information that would make such a thing possible. To say that a group of fairly experienced mmo players know nothing about what makes (and keeps) good games profitable would see a little off though. They don't know everything (obviously) but they do have ideas, some bad, some good, some on point, and some off. This thread wasn't intended to provide a "plan" for BW, it was intended (and I know this may come as a shock on this forum lately) to be a discussion, an exchange of different ideas, and feedback for the developers (one of the stated purposes of this forum). Your position that we should rarely question the decisions of BW is well established. I've seen ample evidence that the developers actively look at a wide variety of feedback, including the forums. They may decide to act or not act based on what they hear, but you cannot be heard if you don't speak.
  20. I think you make a good point. You can spend a good bit of time customizing your character and running (and re-running) dailies, ops, fps, and wzs with guildies, but without regular content influxes, especially of the exploring variety, you run out of new stuff to do even if you're not a "content locust." Lately I've seen a drop of activity in game. That could just be summer; it could be that the last couple major patches have been focused towards the top-end raiders. I'm glad they got more nm content, but it does leave something of a lull for a lot of the player base in terms of content. I'm curious to see what 2.3 and 2.4 bring in these terms.
  21. I agree that f2p to sub conversion is definitely a key piece. There have been a few discussion around lately about the value of a sub. Personally, if you're going to be playing quite a bit, it makes sense to sub, but for some people the apparent reduction in value over time has been troubling. If they increase the value of subs then chances are they'll see more conversions.
