  1. Just unsubscribed. What's the big deal? Fanbois get all upset when someone says they are cancelling. If they fix the game, I can come back in a few months and enjoy it then. Why on earth would you PAY to beta test an unpolished game, when you could enjoy it more fully once it's fixed up? Wouldn't you rather save $45-60 and get the full experience when: high res textures are back in you can choose your PvP map to que for you can PvP against others in a competitive bracket you can customize your UI and use mods/macros loading times/transitions reduced crafting/skills fixed etc
  2. I'm not rage quitting but I just unsubscribed - I have been playing PC games since the 80s. I will not be paying to beta test an unpolished game
  3. Well I wanted this game to be the best thing to come along in a long time - and I hope it still eventually can become that, and maybe I will return. But there is NO WAY I am going to PAY my money to beta test a game that is clearly unpolished and unfinished. It really makes you appreciate how Blizzard and Valve delay things so they come out perfect and polished. Sure, we hate the wait, but the wait is always worth it. EA, being a publically traded company whose mission is to maximize shareholder profits, has a nasty habit of releasing games before they are finished. This is just the latest one but I'm tired of it. I am sorry they get to keep my money for the game itself - especially seeing how it was advertised with textures that aren't even available in the game, I am simply boggled that they can act like nothing is wrong. They should have a class action lawsuit slapped on them. Whatever, I'm not going to go on...but I urge everyone to cancel your subscription and don't be afraid to say NO to paying to beta test. We can simply come back down the road when/IF things are fixed.
  4. Fix - use set point to assign key bindings to each button on the mouse Then assign corresponding action to the key binding of desired mouse button.
  5. Word among my inner circle is EA was planning to release a $10 high texture pack as a micro transaction.
  6. Its the 8 different stories. You can't craft your own Your forced to follow the rails Everyone of your class is the same "PvP" = Huttball
  7. Guys this isn't a troll post. There are some instances where theres challenge, or of course trying to solo things meant for a group will be tough. I'm talking about leveling though. The game gets dull not because of travel time or running too far, or speeders not being fast enough. It's because the exping is dull and easy, the outcomes are known. This is an inherent part of the game. Other MMOs are more challenging or permit you to go to a higher level area. SWTOR restricts you to where you can go. You can't just move ahead to the next planet to quest until you hit the level where the game "permits" you to pick up quests. Trust me, I've tried skipping side quests to move to the next planet, but it doesn't matter because I can't pick up the quests there. So essentially the game makes you do quests that are easy, get it? That's how it was designed.
  8. Nobody talks about this but I think this issue is part of the lack of a real "wow" and "excitement" factor as people go about the worlds, leveling, questing and what not. I mean, there's never really any challenge. Most people I talk to are usually above level for wherever their at. When I take quests at the minimum level they become available to me, they are still extremely easy. The best moments I've had in video gaming over the past 20+ years is when I face a big challenge and squeak through with a glorious victory, barely escaping death. The last moments of this exciting battle/experience are usually tense as you try to defeat whatever the challenge is while not dying. In SWTOR, when death is hardly in the realm of possibility unless I make a mistake and aggro two groups of mobs, or fall off a cliff, a lot of the excitement I typically experience with PC gaming is lost. Thoughts?
  9. Moderators have now been directed to close posts that tell the truth about the game because it's hurts their ability to trick new people into paying to beta test.
  10. Maybe we should all agree it doesn't make much sense to PAY to beta test a game My sub runs out in a few days and no way am I resubbing until multiple issues are worked out and the game is out of beta
  11. You guys are just blind if the current in game textures are good. Or maybe you just havent played other games lately. Look at the taxi, it's a great example, specifically go into first person view on your next taxi ride. It looks like the taxi textures were taken from the original Wolfenstein 3d.
  12. I play about 2 hrs a day and I'm usually rested... and in that time I can only get 1/2 a level if I work hard at it... I couldn't imagine it being twice as hard to level. Hoping it speeds up next level when I get a speeder though. Things were faster 1-20 but since 20 or so, all the running has really slowed down my leveling.
  13. The OP hit the nail on the head. I wanted this game to be awesome too but I'll be unsubbing once my free month is up in a few days. I didn't want a linear single player story. I wanted to role play a unique character and give him my own back story through the adventures I chose to go on. Instead I'm forced down certain paths, from one planet to another in a dull prescribed manner, the same as everyone else. And yes, the loading screen after loading screen = fail.
  14. Honestly I've seen a couple of threads on this but how EASY is it to add an option for looping music. At least then maybe it will add something of an "epic feel" to the game. I don't know about you, but for me, music really adds to the immersion and feel of a game... when music is going, I am more excited overall and just get into it more. When it's not, it feels more dull and boring, lifeless. KEEP THIS BUMPED ON PAGE 1 IF YOU AGREE
  15. It will probably go F2P unless they make some major changes quickly. The same has happened to other MMOs that launched when they weren't ready so why think otherwise... Hey at least we'll be able to get the high texture pack for $10
  16. Dying. When talking to my friends, we're all still playing but slowly becoming more fed up, bored, whatever you want to call it. I feel like I force myself to play hoping it will get better, because I *want* SWTOR to be the awesomest game ever, but the sad reality is it's not that great Here's a couple of texts from some of my irl buddies: "I dunno dude, SWTOR is kind of boring me. When I'm done playing for the night, I don't really feel like it was a satisfying experience. I think we had more fun playing L4D2." "Same for me. I'm going to at least get to 50 and see what's up. Maybe the next expansion will have tons of sick content like WoW" (Noob doesn't realize an expansion is a year or two away) "I'm trying to force myself to play, hoping it will get better, but it's all the same ****" "Hopefully it comes decent over the next 6-12 months but honestly the game needs work"
  17. If we look at other MMOs, there's different routes to get to top level, so in those MMOs you basically are creating your own story. Everyone can take their own path to the top, so that by the time you get there, you've developed a unique character that in your mind's eye belongs to you and you alone... Did you know that you can't get quests on a planet before you reach the prescribed level for said planet? I went to Tattooine at 23 and couldn't get quests until I reached level 24. I went to Alderaan at 24 and couldn't get quests. And the "side" quests are bunk because they are only side quests to your main quest....ie only your main quest line takes you to the areas where you'd find side quests.
  18. Why doesn't Tatooine or other planets have a day/night cycle?
  19. Its NOT high res - that's the point. It might say "high" but it's not the high textures. Look the next time you take a taxi, for example, it's one of the worst examples I've seen - the textures look like they are straight out of Wolfenstein 3d.
  20. EA is always looking for a way to make a buck. I wouldn't put it past them that they were going to sell the high res pack seperately. Oh "EA wouldn't do that!!" but they'd sure charge $115 or $149 or whatever it is for this game, AND make you pay for a month even though you already have a free one? But they'd never lop off a portion of a game to sell it later as a microtransaction!
  21. I try to enjoy it....for a few hours every night...but at the end of those hours, I really don't feel satisfied with my experience. This is in sharp contrast to most other games and even some other MMOs where I'd hunger for a half hour at lunch to do something in game that I needed to do... I find myself forcing myself to play with the hopes that the next thing around the corner will make it better.
  22. Is it possible they were going to release the high res texture pack as a microtransaction "add on"? Say for $10 you could buy the high res pack Seems like something EA would do? I don't know why but every EA game seems to come out early and unplaytested, and then they try to sell you the chunk of the game that they lopped off, a month or two later.
  23. STORY does not equal LINEARITY. The problem isn't the story - it's the linearity of the story. Your choices should have some meaningful impact that allow you to roleplay a unique character. SORRY but your character at 50 has: The same background/backstory as EVERY other person of your class The exact same ship The exact same companions The exact same speeder speed At least in other MMOs you could level the way you choose so that by the time you get to 50, you've had a somewhat unique experience and created a mental investment in your character that's of your own design and preference.
  24. Is it worth completing bonus missions at the expense of delaying handing in already completed main missions? Often times, I'm 1/3 to 1/2 through a bonus quest. I could stick around and kill/find another 10 x - or I could go hand in the main part of the quest I already completed. I haven't looked at how much exp bonus quests give because I usually don't finish them, I usually just proceed to hand in what's completed. Would it be worth finishing up the bonus quests instead?
  25. Some people seem to like the linearity a lot, others less so, to various degrees. But to sit here and say that it's not linear is ridiculous. Or to bash the OP for comparing it (naturally) to WoW and other MMOs is ridiculous too. He's right - in WoW, if I was bored in Ashenvale, I could go to Desolace or somewhere on the eastern continent. There were general quest lines that would take you from area to area, but there were so many ways of going through the game, you could follow it completely, some, or none at all. I prefer MMOs that let you the player craft the story of your character so you have some mental investment in their backstory and what they're all about, completely customized to your personal preferences. Think about it - by the time you're 50 in SWTOR, you have the SAME ship as everyone in your class, the SAME companions, the SAME back story, etc. There is no roleplaying a unique character.
