  1. I swear it will be a year before Bioware will even have a chance at developing new and innovative features. I've gotta hand it to Trion, they knocked out the basics within about a month after Rift's launch allowing them to spend the rest of their first year on developing NEW CONTENT. Meanwhile, Bioware will spend another four months on getting chat bubbles into the game and will hail it as "the biggest content patch in the history of MMO gaming." I'm out. Bioware, you never should have gotten into the MMO business because now you have permanently damaged your pristine brand (sadly). I'm sorry but you are in WAY over head.
  2. Not true. Rift players are quite happy with their game, actually. I keep seeing on these forums that Rift is dying or it's included in a list of "failed" mmos. It is simply untrue. The servers are absolutely hopping over there.
  3. Why am I here? Because I like the Star Wars IP enough to check back from time to time, and I can sub or unsub to multiple games at my leisure because I don't deliver pizzas for a living. So boring quests is all you got? I agree, SWTOR does quests really well with the VO. The problem is that nothing else is done well.
  4. No, I'm right. The server populations say so.
  5. Yeah, 4 months to release a patch with INNOVATIVE features like another boring and tired battleground and UI customization. 4 months!
  6. So it's been three months since launch, and what has Bioware done? Bioware needs to take a long, hard look at Trion (the new bar for MMO devs), take a few notes, and get busy. I suspect there is too much celebrating going on in Austin for them to even recognize that their update schedule is laughable (the blind arrogance of this dev team regarding their "success" with this titanic is astounding). Players these days will not tolerate a so-so patch (made up of stuff that any crap F2P MMO has at launch) every 4 months. Bioware needs to wake up, get some humility, and get to work. I wish I would have listened to EA Louse.
  7. We will just have to agree to disagree on my intent. We can agree on loving the game, however. I came here looking for feedback about an observation I had. To that end, I've received some great responses and there has been some lively discussion. I have, however, called out some that have attacked me personally. If you want to call my attempt to start a discussion as "pushing an agenda" or passively-aggressively attacking those who enjoy the game, feel free to do so. I will continue to call it "starting a discussion in a General DISCUSSION forum". /shrug
  8. That wasn't my intent. In my attempt to make the title as concise as possible, I can see how it might have come off in the way you described.
  9. I'm making observations based on my assessment of forum posts. Just so you know, if someone describes their MMO history and then goes on to give their opinion about the game, how is it that I've assumed anything about them? They've put it out there for all to see and I've taken note of it (ie, observations). There is nothing wrong with that. I might be wrong or you might disagree, but I haven't deliberately made things up to push an agenda. Making assumptions about an individual player when you know nothing about them is an entirely different situation.
  10. Thank you for your reply. Quick pro tip: You can give your opinion without assuming things about the poster. You could have simply said: "I looked for a similar trend and did not see what you're seeing."
  11. Lol. Look at the drama queens coming out of the woodwork. Why does taking a work break to discuss a popular MMO somehow qualify a person as having "problems in your life that a video game can't fix"? Talk about the need for perspective.....
  12. Why is a simple observation being taken as some personal assault on your love of the game? I really like the game. I'm making an observation for discussion. I have no hidden agenda. Geesh.
  13. Here's the deal, if you're going to condescendingly give me debate lessons, you might want to actually know how to debate. Your Flaw 1 is fair (and I'll get to that in a moment). Flaw 2 is where your post falls apart. Nowhere did I say (or even imply) that all MMO gamers are the same as me or my friends (in fact, you don't know anything about my opinion on gaming or SWTOR, but based on the tone of that comment I'd assume you think I don't like the game, which is false). I noticed a trend and wanted to hear from other players. Nothing more, nothing less. Back to my definition of hardcore. Yes, I would agree that you are (were?) hardcore. As others have pointed out in this thread, "hardcore" and "experienced" aren't necessarily the same thing. Experienced MMO players (since the days of UO, etc) are not necessarily the most hardcore gamers today and hardcore gamers today might not have even played MMOs that long ago. So, my definition of hardcore applies to individuals who either play a game the way you played WoW (actually, not quite THAT extreme, but you get the idea) and/or players who have played and understood, in great detail, MMOs for a very long time. It's not that I find players who fall into this category to somehow be more legitimate but rather that level of understanding and experience tends to be more critical (and nuanced) of a new game. PERSONAL OPINION ALERT: In my opinion, I tend to take the views of casual players with a grain of salt (ie, their opinions have never been a good barometer for the quality or longevity of ANY of the games I have played in my over 10 years of MMO gaming).
  14. Why should I have to pick either of those options? How about just getting it right and sticking to the published release date? Man people have low expectations for corporations these days.
