  1. Thanks for all the great feedback! It was really nice to hear what the community thinks about the game so far, and to hear some well-thought out cons from those who didn't like the game. From what I gather, the people who aren't satisfied with the game are Now for my two cents: I'm not a Star Wars fan, and I haven't played a ton of Bioware games either. I played a Paladin in WoW until level 19, then I got bored and quit, leaving my toon on a sandy bank with a bunch of murlocs for all eternity (or until WoW goes free-to-play . Basically, not a Star Wars geek, not a Bioware nut, and not an MMO gamer. And yet somehow, I'm really enjoying myself. SWTOR isn't perfect at all, but it's really the first game in 7 years that's really been "The Game" in terms of even getting close to WoW's recognition and popularity. There are bugs, and there are imbalances, but really, how many other MMORPGs (besides RIFT) have even gotten close to the amount of polish that SWTOR has? My long-term subscription will ultimately depend upon whether or not Bioware can deal with the bugs AND add fun endgame content and features in the next 3-4 months or so. (And whether or not GW2 will get as many subs, or more.) Bottom line, the game is nowhere near perfect, but a strong fan community and regular fixes/content from Bioware may make this the next big thing. Not necessarily the "WoW Killer", but a big thing nonetheless.
  2. Been wanting to address this post, since it's pretty detailed. The planets and shard system do tend to spread people out a bit. I like the fact that the questing planets aren't ovverrun with people, but the space stations/social points are. Still, it can seem a BIT empty at times, but it's better than fighting over who gets the kills. That's every MMORPG. "Kill X of this, get Y of that, etc. GW2, dynamic as it is, will have the same basic mechanic. The big difference being that the GW2 quests affect the world and aren't doled out by a quest-giver. At least give Bioware credit for making the quest activities somewhat meaningful to your personal story. Again, the social centers such as the Republic space station, usually contain a gaggle of players. You get multiple player when you need them, and lower-key biomes when you quest. Again, it's an MMO. The key difference being that the snooker hall shooters are fun, while space combat isn't. Bioware failed in this respect It's better than WoW's customization. My toon literally looks like millions of other male human paladins. The body types need serious work though. Dyes need to happen, but I personally think only purple gear, raid gear and PvP stuff should be customizable. Because flying mounts/free flying makes the game look distant and ugly. GW2 won't have any flying of any sort in the game. And personally, I prefer taking a taxi in Nar Shadda over taking a Gryphon in WoW A lot of people like this. I personally LOVE crew skills. It implements the companions in a useful and unique way and makes it so you can have your gear crafted while you go do something else. Still, it's a matter of opinion No exaggeration here. Why bother? Themepark MMOs don't seem to be your cup of tea Indeed I did. And the bubble's still floating The people who seem to hate the game generally seem to either have had insane expectations for the title, hate sandbox mmos, or are powerlevellers who spacebar the whole story in 2 days and complain that Bioware didn't gave the endgame. The game itself is solid, and claiming that one of the smoothest and most feature rich (but not by any means PERFECT, mind you) MMORPG in YEARS doesn't cater to the RvR/Sandbox crowd doesn't mean the game sucks. At the end of the day, It's like The Dude said: Well, that's just like, your opinion man"
  3. LOVED the vid! What a well thought-out, mature reaction to the game! It's nice to see people share their opinions tastefully, without sexism, slurs or xbot trash-talk! In all seriousness, if that's your honest opinion, please stop playing this game you apparently hate so much and go back to playing whatever generic military FPS suits you. I hope to god GW2's community isn't full of this nonsense. Not sure what class campaign you're playing, but my experience as a Trooper has been pretty fun. I've rescued senators tied to bomb-ridden chairs, taken down a force-sensitive gang boss, defeated a psychotic medic who turns people into monsters, and exposed the secrets of a former Hutt crime boss. Admittedly though, the sidequests at the level 20+ range seem to be a bit tedious. There should be more endgame content by the time I hit 50, but if the rest of the game starts plodding along, I may not stay around longer than an extra month.
  4. A totally legit complaint. Chat bubbles would be nice, and I can see where that and the lack of a couple other RP-Oriented features would turn off gamers like you. As for the bugs, they'll get squashed soon. This game has had an impressivley smooth launch for a title of this magnitude Are we playing the same game? "Not the worst game"? OUCH. I can think of QUITE a few games that are infinitely worse than this one (Silkroad Online comes to mind.). That being said, It IS a themepark MMO, and while I can't justify calling it a "basic game seen again and again", if you're more into the sandbox stuff, I can see your point.
  5. While Several people, Including me, seem to be enjoying SWTOR immensely, there seem to be a group of people playing the game who either plan on ditching once Pandaria/GW2/Etc releases, or who claim SWTOR's just "more of the same". Despite this, SWTOR's Reddit page is pretty huge, and I'm not seeing a ton of negative posts on there. People I've played the game with seem to love the game, and While I'm really (really) looking forward to GW2, I plan on supporting SWTOR, as long as there's a strong fan community and plenty of quality content from Bioware. So, which crowd do you fall into? Do you love or hate the game, and if so, why?
