  1. YES. THIS. NOW please. And name change ability. Server change. oh and adding ability to copy/past chat logs so you don't have to screenshot just to copy a log. >.<
  2. Name Change- There are many people with leveled characters that would like a different name for their character. It could even be something cheep and easy to offer in the cartel. PLEASE offer it. Server Change- People have level 50 characters and would like to switch servers with those characters so as to play with friends. Please have it as an option again! ... While we are at it, an ability to copy and paste the chat log so as to be able to keep a copy of the chat log would be a really great add. :/
  3. Star Wars: The Old Republic NEEDS to add a faction change, or as someone called it, a 'cross-faction class switch'. A faction change means that a Sith Warrior would become a become a Jedi Knight, and vice versa. A Smuggler would become an Imperial Agent. However there is also broad support for some classes, such as Trooper and Smuggler, to be able to do a full faction change without changing class. Classes are as follows; Sith Warrior – Jedi Knight Sith Inquisitor – Jedi Consular Bounty Hunter – Trooper Imperial Agent – Smuggler How it can benefit SWTOR (financially): It can offer added revenue to make paid Faction change a paid option. Players who left could return to the game with the lure of playing their favorite character on another faction. Adding it as part of an update package is a good marketing campaign that would bring attention to the game. Making a 'change faction quest line' for characters who have hit level cap resolves the 'storyline deviance' issue and is an added assertive to return for those whom left. (especially for the large portion of fans who like the concept of 'Rebelling against one's faction') Why players want the option: Players do not always have the time to spend to level up a new character after spending a lot of time on one. Be it due to work, family or other obligations. (It does not mater how 'quick' it takes to level, they lose incentive to 'level all over again' after doing it once or a certain number of times with different characters). Despite 'legacy' and emphasis on 'shared items', there are items on one character players have spent time collecting and do not want to lose with having to make a new character -JUST- so they can be in another faction. Players grow attachments to their 'main' character, but can grow bored with the current faction they are on for various reasons. A 'faction change' option opens up the OPTION to be able to try the 'other side' of the game with a favored character. A wish to not continue with a current faction, but an inability to move their favored character that is 'trapped' within it's current faction can cause players to become 'disheartened' with the game. PvP Points. Players do not want to spend a huge amount of time re-grinding Valor, Social and whatever points they have spent a large amount of time gathering. -Tarrasch Ways that it can be implemented: Faction change can be offered only to characters whom have hit the level cap, thus removing a majority of the 'storyline' issues. A storyline option can be made that characters must take so as to be able to change faction. This storyline could be interwoven with an 'explanation' of 'the story so far' that has occurred for the other side so as to offer smooth transition from one into the other. A paid option can be offered in the Cartel either as a separate paid option, or as a 'unlock' to the quest line that allows characters to transfer. There could be a new planet where Republic and Empire have to work together to defeat some sort of enemy. -EmperorDarkstar Could possibly implement it as Blizzard had,, no story involved. Just a faction switch, with a race and name change option and similar class switch. - ObiJuanShenobi Have a line of quests that could work similar to the EQ2 betrayal quest, only that it wouldn't be repeatable. -Kendaric Make it story based, to where if you switch factions, it would of been a pivotal part of your story. So you won't re roll a character, but instead you would betray your previous faction to help the other side. Let's say your playing a Sith Juggernaut, but the Sith Juggernaut actually does not agree with killing innocents, and has shown to keep the views that the republic holds (because in the sith story, you start off as a slave and thus is forced into the roll of a sith). So you would make a pivetol choice where you would go to the jedi home world, so as to help, and thus open up a new story line for your character, where you must prove to the jedi you are worthy, do things to show them you have changed, etc. What this will also do is add to where the sith will be wanting to kill you for betraying them, so you add that story into it as well.* -Masteries Possible Costs to Character: Anyone taking advantage of this option could have to play through at least some portion of the storyline for their mirror class. -Jimvinny Potentially lose the use of its current equipment. (There is many Class restricted items, such as Legacy Items, End-Game armors, Faction only items(boss drop that have no mean to normally exist on the opposite side).* -Elysith A possible strip of titles and achievements as part of the switch. -Autorch Please, for the sake of the game and the players, add the ability to change factions. *Will add more bullets to the list for more reasons given on why/how faction change should be added.
  4. Moving this all to the Suggestion forums. Thankyou everyone for your comments!

  6. I agree with the others here. Play the game, don't AFK. I would rather be with people who are actually gaming, then standing around and AFKing. I see no problem with the AFK time limit as it stands now. It doesn't take that much for people to do a button click and log back in if they were logged out because of working on something. I too see this as nothing more then something that will do more to promote farming rather then an active player base.
  7. Name Change. Add this please! Lots of players do a lot with their characters and don't want to have to level a new character all the way up to level 50 again just to change the name. Please please please add a functionality to change the name. Not just primary name but ESPECIALLY legacy name. Copy & Paste, Chat The inability to copy and past is especially a hassle for major guilds and guild leaders. Copy and paste is EXTREMELY useful for recording logs of guild meetings, sharing information or simply copying something you had said in chat. It is also useful for coping blocks of chat for reporting should there be a report issue. Please add this! Server Transfer I realize this one may be tricky as there are legacy issues, but we would really enjoy this whenever it can be done so players can transfer their character and legacy over to other servers where other friends may be gaming. I would really appreciate the first to before the last one, which I know takes more effort and is harder to do. Please bump for support!
  8. Lord Adraas is a great server with some wonderful people. I would heavily suggest trying it out. If you want to get familiar with the rokeplay communities on different servers, I would suggest visiting http://www.swtor-rp.com and taking a look at the different RP servers registered on those forums as well as the different roleplay guilds listed there. It is a great resource guide for all things roleplay and Star Wars: TOR.
  9. Thank you for the helpful responses! Edit: Added Mary-Sue. Also added note about server and channel variations. A thought. People could list what their RP channel is and I can add it on the bottom for the RP channel for each server. A server IC channel list. That could be handy unless its been done before. I had not gone through the forums to try to find a thread with that yet.
  10. Just a friendly reminder of some public channels to help with the role playing and general gaming community (Note: The following is standard for the RP-PVE server Lord Adraas and what had also been seen on other servers. Server channel style and use may vary.) /cjoin RP - A public communications com. All chatter on this is considered to be in character. OOC - Out of Character discussion. Complimenting the RP channel, generally anyone in the RP channel is often found in the OOC channel as well so as to make sure that any ooc chatter remains separated from the IC communications. LFG - Looking for Group Not a roleplay server specific but still useful, this channel is great for receiving LFG requests such as Flashpoint requests while on other worlds. If you join only one custom channel, it is heavily suggested to join this one. ========================== SERVER:______/IC_______/OOC Lord Adrass:___/RP_______/OOC Vrook Lamar:____________/RPOOC Jung Ma:________________/RP ========================== PC Player Character. - a character controlled by a player. Other terms commonly used for this are also; Toon-Cartoon, Avi-Avitar and Char-Character. NPC Non-Player Character. - Any other character in the game world. Most common examples are a bartender at a cantina, commoner on the street, quest givers and any other game controlled character. Also included are characters that exist purely for storyline and background basis and are not controlled or role played regularly by a player. IC In Character. What your character thinks, says and knows. OOC Out of Character. What you the player thinks, says and knows. This includes anything that takes place outside the game world. Metagameing When OOC knowledge, opinions and/or personal feelings are brought in game and affect the character's knowledge/actions/ext. This includes a character using any information they have not gained IC. Godmodding Literally acting the part of a god and/or invincible character. Claiming your character is all powerful, or with no weaknesses. It can also refer to the case where a player describes the outcome of their own actions against another character. Another form of godmodding is where a character dodges everything, and no attacks ever land during the course of roleplayed combat in text (/me). Godmodding is thus used like a "Get Out of Jail Free card" when things don't go the way a player wants, rather than working with previously unfolded events. Reading Tags Reading an avatar’s name or description to use in the RP without having discovered it IC. Also see Metagameing. F2B Fade to Black. When actions and/or consequences happen in a scene, but are not roleplayed out. Example: Characters often sleep, or tend to personal maters but it is not roleplayed. Mary-Sue An unrealistically "perfect" or "special" character, especially when it is not consistent with the lore (ie, a being made purely of the Force with special Force Powers no other person ever had, does, or will ever have.). Alternatively, someone whom nothing bad ever happens to, and/or all issues and conflicts are easily resolved in one or two "episodes" or encounters. Perma-Death Also known as permanent death. The act of having a character be permanently killed off the game. Doing this would completely delete your character from play. Usually this requires the consent of all participants. Due to the workings of the MMO and the time spent in leveling characters, this is a rare occurrence and characters are usually killed and come back later with no memory of the death or any event leading up to it, and are not aloud and/or are unable to take action/revenge for the death itself. Canon The original source material, e.g. the books, comics, movie, video game, etc. where the characters and/or world came from. Retcon Short for 'retroactive continuity'. This refers to a player (or players) OOCly backtracking and erasing plots from the IC continuity as if they had never happened . Please share any comments/suggestions on anything I may have missed.
