  1. I'm not exactly certain if this is how it works but I do have an idea what you could do. Check what the lvl range is of the grade metals and compounds you need, then go to the galaxy map and see which zones corresponds to those lvl ranges. Or alternatively check on torhead with the names of the metals or compounds you need. Durasteel or Zal Aloy for example is easily farmed from the droids in one of the dailies on belsavis. Killing strong or elite mobs is the easiest way for materials, droids give scavening parts, beasts and such give bio mats. You could run around in circles on the map passing by nodes on the map and then killing any mobs along the way plus you will also get alot of trash loot and generally speaking green loot every now then. Of course if you are intent on manually gathering you'll have to be ready to spend some time doing it, don't get bored after 10-30 mins. Any cash you made from trash loot and such or dailies should then be spend on getting missions so you can stack up even more mats. Which in turn can be sold as well or used for crafting.
  2. This indeed. You should hope that with running the rich yield lockboxes grade 5 that you'll eventually run into the 300-340 slicing that or simply buy the missions of the GTN. It doesn't really matter though come patch 1.2 armormech and so on will be able to create augments.
  3. I no rite?;p The Deathwing patch most recently was a perfect example in wow, it was just a week or so out, I don't remember exactly and he got downed. Granted the hardcore go on and continue heroic mode if they like, but basicly from a pve perspective on that particular character the game is done.
  4. All they need to do is merge serveral servers into big ones. Problem solved. If I want to talk but there's like <10 in each zone that kind of make it pointless. The only place were I get to talk alot is in the wzs.
  5. Meh, ilum got exploited as all hell. Might as well take the entire zone out of the game.
  6. Which most likely going to happen anyways, if not the very first day, the very first week then. History has proven itself that enough people care and dedicate themselves tosomething thats been out just recently, could be finished in the same day or week. Chances are the really hardcore raiders will finish the new ops in the first week if not day haha.
  7. It's quite possible actually I have gotten some that way as well, it's just more likely to happen with rich yield grade 5 ones in my experience. Ironicly speaking I have gotten slicing 300 - 340 missions from slicing itself as well. Using T7-01 with maxed out affection makes it even more likely, I still notice getting way more when going on the rich yoield grade 5 ones. Just wish there were rich grade 6 ones as well every now and then even if there was only 1, but oh well. And this is actually done my trooper, I'm still lvling my slicing on my jk that has it as well. Ive dropped and switched gathering/crafting skills for the sake of the bonuses and might in the future do it again.
  8. Which you certainly do not have to do. You can stick primarily to your class stories, especially when perhaps playing the other adv.class of a class you played before, instead of sentinel a guardian or vice versa. And then mostly lvl up through space missions and pvp. In hindsight I'm suprised at myself but also many others back in the day with wow, that we lvled maybe 10 classes all the way through max lvl during each expansion or so. Some people might have done this on both factions even. (I havent played horde) That's 10 times the same quests over and over again. Getting xp in pvp wasn't possible untill I think in wotlk, so the only way to lvl was to quest. The lvl xp even if the 85% is the same tired stuff is a freaking heaven in comparison. The dialogue is amusing and unique depending whether you play male and female and even whether you pick dark and light. Sure again for the 85% part you wont be impressed, but hey the story decisions and the differences between picking light/dark can be on a very epic scale. And for once I'm actually ecstatic to play the other faction as well.
  9. That better be the very first week of april then haha.
  10. Healing grenades would bring too much utility into pvp, certain dps speces don't have healing abilities, if they do it's either on a long cd or very small. Imagine sents or whatever lobbing around grenades for extra healing, sure it's on a short cd but every little bit helps. I've heard stories here on the forums that some guilds even went as far as demanding it as a requirement especially for NM ops that members had reusables in terms of adrenals and the amount of medpacs eventually needed it's understandable. Unless it's like I stated in wow that picking certain gathering or craft would give you certain stat boosts. And again for those out there that want every little bit to help out, the min-maxers and so on, that would actually limit your choice because then you'd pick something like, mining(endurance) and (skinning= crit ) as it was in wow, effectively getting situations like swtor started out with biochem pretty much being the most usefull. It's a bit rediculous like in wow that I picked 3 times alchemy simply because of the 3 specialisations around it. Considering how armormech and such could give you potentially any look for your characters + when mastercrafted would/could be BIS, being any of those crafts personally is probably more usefull to have from a personal standpoint. Unless you're already swimming in millions of creds and earning creds by tons buying each imaginable piece of mastercrafted gear would be credit consuming. I actually have all the crafts and gathering thats avaible at my beck and call, except artifice. Unfortunately artifice/ doesnt seem to have any companions with the crit bonus to it, so I decided to lvl the others first. So the only thing actually holding me back is waiting for the patch. That and gathering all the mats and with that the creds.
  11. Which is kind of good. If you want to make each craft be interesting to pick this is the way to do it and how it shouldve been done from launch. Economy wise this will pick up even greater on the more heavy populated servers, materials will become worth more, potential buyers will have more goods to choose, credits can actually be spend some more. To make the crafting or gathering that bit more interesting although it's tied to your crew not actually you(but with a bit of imagniation, maybe your crew teaches you how to) is to give small stat boots to stats. So for example archeology because your crew spends time( or yourself) alot in the outdoors they increase your and their endurance by I don't know 10-20 points when at lvl 50? It's not much but it's like in wow how tanks could consider taking mining because it gave endurance, or rolling a Night Elf because the racial was great for tanking. That would give a bit more of a unique flavor to each craft as well. Of course this would be a blatant copy of wow, but then again what isn't a copy of another copy and so on these days. I really see no reason at all to even have BOP items in the game, maybe for those one of a kind legandary weapons like in wow, but otherwise anything should be tradeable. Heck even that new video they posted about the legacy system shows legacy items, which is pretty much the same thing as account bound items in wow, just named differently. But I'll hand it to BW, the gathering with companions/reverse engineering, legacy system in general, that's vastly unique as far as I'm concerned and I hope that they keep this pace up.
  12. Like I mentioned before, the mandalorian goes about 20K per piece. I get several from a 340 UWT mission. If the mission is anywhere between 30-50K and I need the iron its more worth it then buying them separately. Getting 50K is a few dailies per day anyways, if you don't play the GTN game. 8K and such is around the price diplomacy and such goes. In the past I bought probably 1-5 dozens of investigation 340 for 4K each from the same person on the GTN. Nowadays though it goes about 10K which given the dailies pvp or pve is peanuts. Slicing missions and TH, UWT is incredibly rare on my low pop server, so basicly if I see 1, I should buy it right away, even if I don't need it.
  13. Yeah that's sadly true stat wise, but hey if your guild is pretty relaxed and you got normal ops on farm or something try and consider to do a run in social gear. Could be quite fun, lulz worthy, seeing your party in fps or ops in social gear. Being able to place the armoring mods and swap the pve set bonus to the social gear makes it actually viable. Unless enemies are throwing around tons of kinectic/energy abilities around, armor won't really matter that much. Lots of damage bypasses armor after all.
  14. Only rich yield missions will get the purple augments if your companion crits. Having a crit companion simply increases the chance a bit more. At least your using your 10K affection companion, thats good. For example if you want to get mission discoveries/shemantics with slicing you'll need to run the rich yield lockboxes which are only 2 of in the grade 5 lvl. Doing anything but rich yield, when youre aiming for mission discoveries, shemantics or augments is a waste of time on sending your companions. Unless you don't mind getting some green augments as well, because ultimately it's only a difference of about +6 in a secondary or main stat. A bigger problem at the moment is actually having gear to put in the augments. My trooper's cargo hold is filled to the brim with augments and shemantics.
  15. This indeed. Mandalorian Iron goes for like 20K per piece on my server. If I buy a 340 UWT mission for say 30-50K, I can get more than 2 mandalorian iron easy, serveral grade 6 silk as well for synthweaving and a companion rank 5 gift as well. The way patch 1.2 is looking with the possibility of creating armor orange gear and so on, the high end materials will be in bigger demand. It's best to buy any and all mission now, keep any and all mission you find yourself, buy em off friends and guildies and so on. Most likely you will be crafting alot just to attain mastercrafted items(augment slot) for yourself, friends and guildies. Of course you could do it at the same time as playing around with the GTN because any profit you make on the GTN can be further used to fund your gathering/crafting efforts.
  16. The idea behind reading it up is so you know what of your items sell the best, sell the most and what kinds of amounts are considered reasonable by your ptential buyers. When you know this, you can immediately start crafting and restocking these items, to keep a steady profit. Because just randomly crafting stuff and putting them on the GTN and then not selling any would mean a loss of credits due to deposit fees. And this adds up if you try and sell several kinds of things and it might also be troublesome, because there could be the risk that you get undercut. So the workaround and making a spreadsheet like a poster mentioned before is very smart thinking and is certainly the way I would go about it if I were to GTN regularly.
  17. Indeed, as it stands in live, artificers has 2 extra potential augment slots because of 2 relics. Which put it max. 10 augment slots for artifcers and 8 for non artificers, but come patch 1.2 if there isnt any BOP shemantics and crafts anymore, that be great. And that would make it possible for the artificers to also sell their relics.
  18. Wow that's great news. So that means I could make a master crafted vibrosword for say my Jedi Sentinel or Guardian and pimp it out with the expertise crystals so its even viable for pvp. I'm really looking forward to april, I just hope it's in the very first week, haha.
  19. Neither is it on alderaan or voidstar, especially so if most /consular/sorcs are dps, instead of a balanced mix of tanks, healers. Depending on the composition of the groups, healers vs no healers and so on. I've even had games were we had 3+ healers but still lost, because we had a lack of dps, either simply in player amount (also tanks around) or the ones that were dpsing did a terrible job.
  20. I hope that it's possible to RE social gear and then be able to craft, although armor wise it aint all too ideal for the melee classes and tanks specificly it could be quite fun to actually wear those sets. For Kira Carsen or any female player/companion the Social 1 Gear gives access to 5 orange set items early on, the only thing one is required to do is keep up with the mods. If you happen to have cybertech with purple mods on every range, you could possibly even play all the way to lvl 50, till you start getting your pve and pvp sets. But from the looks of patch 1.2 being able to switch bonuses around, it would even keep the social gear armor very much so viable. Might miss out on augment slots though if we cant reverse engineer them and get shemantics.
  21. This guy is right, there's tons of jedi consulars on my server since I'm playing rep side. Alot of the dps ones top the boards, next are the healer ones. And then you might see the occasional trooper having a high prot. score but that's about it. There's one guy on my server whom I met during huttball being a fellow guildie as well, he shuts down my balance jedi sage like no ones business, when critting gets 5K and such and well as you know when a melee gets in the face of a ranged and he/she can't get away it's a free kill. I doubt that I myself can manage that well once I reach lvl 50 with my own sent, but it's a fact that between say a vigilance jk and a sent, a sent has to pay attention to an extra resource called centering, has to keep the snares and HPS debuff off and a whole lot of other stuff. Only with my healing scoundrel can I actually get away from sent/maras if my CD's are avaible but any other class and I feel vunerable as hell against them. And the really good ones? Ouch... Well except with my tank speced vanguard, but that's only thanks to the high HP, defensive CDs. I do like the 5% extra damage against players, when I guard though. It encourages me to guard even more, which I already do since that's my role then.
  22. Yeah, indeed I wasnt too sure, but essentially this means with a natural rythm of pvping daily or maintining your 10 games each day to a total of 50 per week, that means with around 5 days you are guaranteed at least 1 token. Though I did hear from a fellow guildie(since I havent checked myself) that a set item costs like 7 tokens. So strictly speaking you wont be getting a full BM set anytime soon, unless you spend beyond 10 games per day or way more than 50 games per week. And I have no idea how the rated wzs will reward you.
  23. Probably but hey, this is something everyone with a craft can do though, you don't always have to try and sell it for massive profit on the gtn. Consider selling it to friends and guildies, they'll be gratefull, you can gain some cash and stats wise you might help out your raid groups quite a bit. It's probably alot easier to just gather alot of materials right now, save any and all mission discoveries for yourself, rack in hundreds of whatever grade you feel is necessary and make a killing. Alot will be crafted in patch 1.2 and thus alot of mats will be needed.
