  1. There's a guy on my server whom told me about his cost on medpacks, each raid about 30-50K or so? And he made 300K-500K each day playing the GTN according to him. Sold him stacks of 99 Bio sample rank 1 for 25K each was his offer. All I did was log on my lvl 50 char send my companions, played some pvp and profit was made. I told him why not lvl a char to lvl 10 and do it yourself, but granted with only 1 companion time wise it take ages and he was lvling from around 1-400. I can still provide for him till hes maxed out and I gain some easy money, win-win situation. And I seriously can't blame him, considering the time it costs to farm the mats from bio and diplomacy as well it's just tedious, we can neglect credit cost here because for this guy it's obviously a non issue. And all that trouble just for a reusable but granted the reason why he needs it makes me understand perfectly fine. Not to mention if he didnt have biochem on any other char, he could potentially make some great implants as well. But thats not his aim of course haha.
  2. More mats indeed. The companions when they crit are also more likely to bring in blue or even purple mats even if the yield you send them on was a moderate one, I have had this happen with max affection and bonus like say TH crit or Scavening Crit or UWT crit. However for the best results especially if you want the purple mats or bigger chances on missions, always send your maxed affection + companion with the bonus on rich yield missions only. If you need to, go even to a rank lower yield, this is especially true if youre still aiming for shemantics. For example slicing doesnt have any rich yield rank 6, there are rich yield rank 5 ones though. On the rep side this means on the Jedi Knight class youd want to send T7-01 on these. Because he has the highest crit bonus on that. For bioanalysis its Akaavi Spar on the smuggler. For Diplomacy its Nadia Grell on the consular. For Treasure Hunting it's Kira Carsen on the Jedi Knight and so and so on. Just keep a companion gift guide handy to max out the affections and keep an list with the bonusses in crafting/gathering on each companion handy as well. I already know it by heart now, since I have the above mentioned classes myself.
  3. Biochem is best suited on the Jedi Knight(Guardian) as well because your companion Doc is the only one with crit bonus to Biochem. (also got biochem on guardian) Kira Carsen(maybe for your sentinel, I know I do) has craft crit bonus to synthweaving.
  4. What Zorak mentioned. Getting purple mods on the earlier lvls is only avaible to those that either craft said mods of every possible main stat for their main and alts. Which you can do with artifice (hilts> melee weapons and enhancements) and cybertech for armoring and mods and barrels. ( > ranged weapons) Or if you have friends/guildies that have the above mentioned crew skills + discovered purple mods in the lvl ranges you require. Otherwise you might check the GTN but that isn't all that viable depending on your server. Getting any kind of mod besides armoring from the planet commendations is incredibily cheap only 2 planet commendations ( armoring ones are 7 ) . What you can also do is buy a new higher lvl orange item from planet commendations, that way you'll get a new piece of gear with that lvl range mods already in them. Sticking with lower lvl orange items either gained from quests, drops or bought from the GTN is purely for cosmetic value if you care about that, because the lvl and the worth of an orange item is merely linked to what kinds of mods you have placed into them. The only real advantage in having purple mods is that it allows having higher stats at an earlier lvl compared to its blue counterpart. A simple example a purple Might Armoring 13 has exactly the same stats like a blue Might Armoring 15. But the 13 one requires say lvl 30 and the 15 one requires say lvl 36. Considering that you can have like about 5 orange items equiped that you can mod, with them all filled with purple mods you'd definitely have greater stats, but thats merely a luxury something you don't really need. People like me who do that sort of thing allready lvled more than likely more than 1 char and lvl very easily even if we were using green mods.
  5. Aah thx for mentioning that m8, I did wonder. They are indeed all listed as blue on the craft lists the same with lightsabers on artifice. It really puzzled me, but since I'm not actually doing any fps or ops atm I don't have access to those alloys and hence I cant make any.
  6. This so much. I'd rather play scoundrel than a sage anyday, whether its healing or dps. In pvp anyways. Coincidently I'm a healer scoundrel but you get the idea.
  7. Sounds like a terrible bug. Or maybe you have negative affection with him? it is possible to have a negative, used to have it a bit with lord scourge. But dont if a negative affection would do that. Otherwise Id say its a bug.
  8. If it's belsavis you can even start as early as lvl 47, depending on how you go about it, your gear(and that of companion) class makes it quite doable to even solo the heroic + 2 class, the other dailies can be soloed regardless. The nice thing about the heroic +2 one is the fact that it gives you a purple mod as well and well the ones you can buy from the mission support vendor is 8 commendations. So repeat every 2 days or so and you can buy 1.
  9. This is true but I havent seen any orange shemantics on the GTN so far and I havent had any drop from my mission skills. Can you give an example of an orange gun you can craft, I have the same problem with vibroswords as well. Or are these shemantics raid drops only? I wouldnt mind if shemantics were buyable for raid tokens or something, it would suck alot if the shemantic you want never drops, you lose the roll or whatever. Guess I'll have to keep at it and get mastercrafted purple weapons or something ./shrug
  10. Keep doing the belsavis dailies m8. Youll rack up daily commendations fast. Theres 3 quests that give 1 commendation= 3 1 heroic + 2 that gives 3 commendations and a purple mod and another heroic +4 that gives another 3 daily commendations + an orange weapon for each of your companions. I'm not able to do the heroic +4 one unless there happens to be other people in the zone, but in my case doing the others solo, it's 6 commendations each day + a purple mod which is BOE that you could share with the other adv.class/friends or guildies. You need 8 daily commendations to buy a purple mod from the mission support vendor also there. In fact you can even buy rakata implants but those cost a whopping 120 commendations, before you reach that chances are you might have bought or made a purple implant yourself. In fact these very mods are the bane of the crafters so to speak. You might have problems like I do with the heroic + 4 quests but everything else can be soloed, being decently geared and your companion as well.
  11. I have to agree with this. I enjoy my healing scoundrel, stealthing in healing and basicly supporting so that everyone can peak at their potential. When it's becoming dangerous I stealth out and get back in to the fight a bit later again. But I do quite well, generally speaking I get 1/3 or 1/2 of my total healing into damage as well. On my tank speced vanguard I'm similiarly working as a support class and keeping people alive, but also the harashment part works great. Add to that not too bad dps and great survivalibity and it's match in heaven. Kind of like Taric in League of Legends. I guess being supportive is just who I am. Haha, ain't that the truth. In my case though, I'm simply lvling all the adv.classes eventually. So whatever will be will be, I always got a choice. After my first 8 adv.classes, the empire will be up, can't wait haha. But first come on legacy system!
  12. I'd take the Mastercraft item any day, especially if its a certain version, aka redoubt criticial or overkill. I have 2 purple lvl 49 strength impants with presence on it, not the stat I wanted but granted I'm actually thinking of making a full set tailored towards presence on every item slot. Imagine if all possible slots had augments as well? I'd be able to score hundreds of extra stat points towards presence a stat normally not able to buff aside from the presence drink, stim and presence datacrons. I hope, I don't have to explain the usefullness of presence in certain pve situations. Instead of my idea of presence, think what you could do with other stats, it is possible to fill augment slots with main stats as well. Atm 10 augment slots are possible for artificers and 8 max for non artificers. The only thing that orange stuff has going for it now is purely it's cosmetic value, because if you can crit a lower lvl orange item which is alot easier and cheaper to do considering 'the mats needed. Not only that lower lvl crafts cost your companions significantly less time to craft then the higher lvl items. If you're swimming in mats/credits this time component can be the most tedious. This however as far as I can tell is only the case with the armor crafts, artifice does have it lightsabers but that requires farming those alloys. Armstech, I don't think I've seen orange shemantics for any lvl but the purple mastercrafted do the job I suppose untill you get something better. We all allready know the problem with the mods unfortunately even if you could make purple armoring, mods its just meh. Not sure about the enhancements from artifice, those did seem to be rather diverse in it's stat placement, though I remember there being duplicates that sucks.
  13. This pretty much sums up my thought process that I mentioned earlier, considering the Tech Desing Director mentions it, it's pretty much set in stone. Raiding with 7 or whatever amount of people ,that like I said if loot goes your way, only takes you a few a hours each week unless you're guild is either casual or terrible or both;p. This is especially the case if its just normal mode youre doing. The amount of man hours youre putting in just to send your companions gathering is about 27 mins for the highest grade mats if youre lucky you might crit and get blue/purple mats. However to adequately have a surplus of mats you'll need to have a surplus of 340 relevant to your craft missions say scavening and UWT for Armstech as an example. Finishing these kinds of missions takes roughly 2+ hours even with max affection it is possible for your companions to fail. Getting the 340 missions requires having certain mission skills and even that requires luck and critting to get those else its scour the GTN to buy every mission you see. Then there's buying the mats off the GTN. Being on a low server pop myself doing it THE GTN way is improbable because there hardly is stuff and whatever is on the GTN will drain my wallet fast. I'd need millions/billions of creds to craft carefree. To do this I would need a healty server to sell stuff on the GTN if that could work, otherwise its doing the belsavis dailies and such every single day in day out with more than 1 lvl 50 class. EVen if it was possible to send my companions on missions through a mobile app on an expensive *** Iphone while at work or simply not online, I'd still need said creds to send them away and even if I did have the creds, TIME WOULD STILL BE AN ISSUE! Heck I could even be ingame sending companions while im playing minecraft or whatever, this is what I like the most about swtor, if it was like in wow that Id have to personally get everything myself I would go on a murderous rampage because going suicidial is of course silly. Rambling mode disengaged, going casual poster mode: TLDR: Crafting requires more effort to get certain specific gear, not less. Is it hard? No. But neither is raiding. And raiding certainly doesn't require as many hours as one person could put in more hours then 1 raid session of everyones time combined,
  14. Considering the mats requirement the RNG probably still on it getting the shemantics even with patch 1.2, getting the shemantics you dont want/need. Its not hard in any stretch of the imagination but the sheer amount of time spent sending your companions to get the mats you need to make all that gear? And thats just making the regular purple or orange gear, getting a fully augmented set is going to take a while. Whereas if loot goes your way during raiding you can get kited out in less than a month. And this is assuming your just crafting for your own personal use, which might mean not just your main and its companions but alts as well. That is if your friends and guildies dont require your services as well. The time investment on crafting especially going for the specific augmented gear will take a significantly longer time. Especially for those that don't have alot of time to play the game to begin with. Granted you could use all your unspent creds to buy said gear, assuming you got millions to spent and that the gear that can be made isnt BOP.
  15. Hmm, interesting I'll have to listen to that as well from a clip on youtube. Well it's been ages since I played FFX but I didn't recognize her voice at all, Rikku's is kind of peppy, cheerfull and upbeat alot. Risha's tone is rather serious and cynical at times. Another thing I noticed, http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0164682/ this guy Cam Clarke that voices the npc Nyranos whom you will meet during a quest on Belsavis on any class rep side is Liquid Snake. And indeed the Jedi Knight seems to be Solid Snake: David Hayter. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1320395/ But the voice seems(feels) so different I didn't even realise it. So I'll pay more attention to it.
  16. ^ This pretty much, unless you have plenty of ways to interupt you'll have to count on your burst to bring the healer low on HP then he/she will have to pull out the big heals which will drain the energy/ammo/force power like crazy. Don't always stick to your regular interupt unless that's all you got ofc. Thinking of the Jedi Sage, you can run into range force wave to knock back during a cast, force stun, the regular interupt, force lift. That's 4 possible ways of interupting. A problem that you yourself but also team m8es have to keep in mind is resolve. If you try to knockback or stun as a means of interupting whether thats you or a team m8 and the resolve is almost full or already full you will have to take care and pay close attention to it. Otherwise hope there are other people around and focus the healer down, that's what you should do anyways if your team is somewhat competent. Another thing you have to keep in mind is, you don't always have to kill a healer. Harashing the healer, keeping him/slowed preventing him from healing his/her team m8es is just as important. I've kept healers or strong dpsers at bay with my tank speced vanguard, even if I might die, if I kept em busy for even just a 1 min it could mean a difference between a win or loss in the grand sheme of things.
  17. Rich missions only. And pick a companion with a crit bonus to that gathering if you dont have that, consider relearning or taking it extra on another class that has the companion with the crit bonus. And asap get max affection with said companion that has the crit bonus. During lvling this is even a great way to get easy xp just for talking with your companions and you end up with 5 companions so that's alot of xp just for listening to them. Unless ofc you're playing the same class again but different adv.class then you could space bar. Besides even if you werent looking for shemantics, picking rich missions and then bountifull is the most productive way for your companions to be busy. They are also away longer and the missions cost more, but the return rate on mats and everything else is so much greater. And especially so if your companion crits. Keep in mind that even lvl 340 missions can fail with companions with max affection but this should only happen like once every dozens of lvl 340 missions you send. For your own reference sake, check the ingame codex if you don't remember. Investigation, Underworld Trading, Slicing. I believe according to the codex slicing could give all shemantics, Underworld Trading is specific to Synthweaving, Armormech, Cybertech I think? And Investigation could also give all the shemantics. The manner and what kinds of shemantics you get is random though, but if you're looking for specific ones you should keep the lvl ranges in mind. But that's only if you're looking to appeal to the lower lvl market otherwise you'd be working on the endgame stuff.
  18. Only run rich missions. I've noticed especially with slicing that has no rank 6 rich or bountifull lockboxes, only either moderate or abundant. When I run with my max affection companions even though they don't have the crit to slicing, that's on the jedi knight (T7-01) and smuggler (Risha), they still get me missions every now and then. Ironically I've gotten slicing missions from those as well but rare. Shemantics can also drop with slicing, but I feel getting missions is more likely for me. Which suits me just fine because those missions can actually get me those shemantics as well. And otherwise its scour the GTN every day. Cybertech for the ship upgrades is great, because doing the space missions every day is easy money and having the best ship upgrades avaible to you makes it all that more fun.
  19. I highly doubt it's random unless someone here can confidently say he/she has gotten more than once syntweaving patterns form metal missions and armormech from fabric. On the flip side, synthweaving has medium/heavy armor patterns which uses metal, the fabric ones are for the light armor ones. I think armormech and such is more likely to drop from investigation and slicing, because research compounds are also used.
  20. Considering I have all the crafts myself and am thinking of completing all of the variations that the purple can have in the end game department, I'm also seriously considering on making purple gear that has the presence stat tacked on to it and then going as far as to even get augments on them. Any and all extra gear I make without augments that I wont need myself, I'll either give away/sell to friends/guildies or place on the GTN. My future idea is to make it possible to 3 man Flashpoints, whether this is possible in the hardmodes I dont know but Im certainly amused and willing to pursue that goal. Either by using a tank companion or healing companion, because dps is never in short supply. If need be any dps that could heal, like scoundrel or jedi sage might have to offheal, but that's something to see till I actually get that far. I've already 3 manned heroic voss quests and belsavis quests with friends and although it's not exactly the same as flashpoints, I don't see why not right? In short: All the possible gear slots with the presence stat with presence augments in them as well + the presence stims and presence drink? Maybe it's possible to get way over 500+ presence, how much this will mean for the hp/healing/dps of the companion who knows, but imagine the companion with fully augmented gear with stats relevant to his/her/its role.
  21. You simply played it smart m8. The person who sold it is happy and you are happy because you sold it again. It's no different how people buy stuff on the flea market then sell it on the net for more.
  22. This is true, however considering the state of servers being light in population, I see a lack of lower lvl mats and even the high end materials are rare at times. I provide for myself in every craft through each gathering on my chars. It's tedious and costly(mostly time though, creds are easy to get). Doing business is difficult simply because the pool of players ( the market ) is low to begin with, which is actually a far bigger issue to be honest then pricing. At the moment I even have dozens of Mandalorian Iron I can't use, because I picked up UWT missions through things like Investigation and slicing and also simply buying them cheapy of the GTN. Especially both 340 Investigation went so cheaply on my server and still do (usually by the same player) for around 4K. Even though I didn't need them I kept buying them because I know in advance that I'll need them. However I reckon with how easy gathering goes for me there will come a time that I have such a surplus on stuff, that I'd almost be inclined to just give it away to help out other players. Or just put it on the GTN for very low prices. This might spell bad news for people looking to make a profit, but really getting creds with just dailies on 1 char each day is incredibly easy. I got 3 chars at 50, I bothered to do the dailies with 2 chars. Imagine when I get to the point of having all 8 adv.classes, have a free day and decide to do the dailies with all them for a whole day, yeaaah.
  23. At OP: In my opinion pick at the very least the 4th pvp bonus. So that you do 5% more damage against other players as long as you guard a player. I'm actually looking very forward to getting that 4th bonus on my tank speced vanguard. My damage isn't all that compared to my main being a protector. With my ranged attacks and abilities I can also be harashment factor against the enemy players aside from of course taunting them. As some one mentioned before the dps secondary stats I quite usefull, I think getting at least above 100% accuracy would/could help as well. Besides that since you're getting alot of hits either from players attacking you directly or your guarded target or worse both, you'll need quite alot of stamina to survive. Crafted Augmented gear might be the thing eventually(maybe after patch 1.2?). Crafted Gear can after all get you stats in whatever secondary stat you desire + having augments. In short yeah, I'd say take both pvp till bonus and pve parts till you got the stats you want. Don't forget though if you take pve parts over pvp, you'll lose out on expertise. But as a tank that does some dps this shouldn't be an issue. I wonder how it would work as a healer though, since expertise does give a boost to healing.
  24. Yeah, I'll agree that at the moment going biochem is best for your main anyways. Although that HoT you mentioned does sound interesting but probably not worth it all that much. Still considering I'm more into alting the whole grand sheme of gathering is peanuts to me. The only problem is that reverse engineerin is not working all too great and crating is simply missing out on endgame stuff. But where did you read that its pushed to april? Was'nt the plan for march and still the first week of march so theres still time.
  25. Just out of curiousity but I think I read someone mention that the reusable adrenals are weaker in power/aka they heal less then their blue versions? Like I mentioned before I get it for pvp, but for pve you really don't need that much adrenals with the 3 min cooldown going down you might be able to pop 1 or 2 during a boss fight. Blue stims lasts 2 hours and through death. Once your lvl 50 or heck especially once you got more than 1 50, creds will be flowing in so much, that the only downside is that you have to farm mats for the blue stims. But knowing that they last for 2 hours, you could make days, weeks of blue stims to last you for a while. Besides your repair bill and gathering/crafting(if you're into that) there's not really much to spend your creds on. And when I hear stories of people making millions on crit crafted sabers, or they already have millions of creds, yeaah. Bottom line is: Master crafted gear will become more desireable and much more accesible to do with patch 1.2. You should consider strongly if you want to be able to provide such items for yourself/guildies and friends or end up having to farm for creds just because you want those specific items with specific stats.
