  1. according to what research/proof? Just wondering.
  2. Provided you're imperial, if I remember correctly, (haven't run an imperial toon through Balmorra in a while) that missing area is blocked off by an instanced barrier, and you need to do the bonus quest to get it. If you're republic, that area is accessable by a path that is just on the north side of the crashed ship in the Flatlands area.
  3. /attenshun (spelling in context) /atease /paraderest perhaps? Seems like you're wanting military-style poses with that, and those are the three stances of standing in ranks.
  4. I'm thinking he's referring more to a weekend of cross-faction queuing for OPs and possibly cross-faction chat. Opening up all planets to both factions would allow access to all faction-specific datacrons, as well as your valid pvp-douchebagerry concern. However, I've long been a proponent of cross-faction queuing for operations, and I don't think the implementation of a cross-faction chat would be too horrible; people already have the option to /ignore people who spam the chatbox with inappropriate/offensive comments, regardless of faction, and this would be no different. Attempting cross-faction flashpoints would be different, as each faction has a specific FP storyline that is separate from the other's, and I don't think there'd be any viable way to implement that properly.
  5. I'd say that they only carry the saber(s)/staff that suits their personal combat style best. It's the same reason why most mideval-type warriors only carried the one weapon that they were proficient with, rather than a longsword, rapier, shortsword, greataxe and greatsword into combat to change styles as they saw fit. (disregarding the weight/encumberance differences.) You plan on using the techniques that you are most familiar with, and use your understanding of basic(or advanced) swordsmanship to pull you through any scenarios that may counter your preferred style(s.)
  6. Any chance we can get a look at those patch notes before you start the maintenance?
  7. The likely reason for that is because there are multiple transport kiosks on fleet, and only one at the other destinations. The transport option drops you in front of those other kiosks- which kiosk would be flagged for receiving the traveller on the fleet? It would be a (relatively) simple thing to remove the excess kiosks on the fleet and put one on the main deck somewhere, but as it is they probably do it this way to prevent processing errors.
  8. Are you talking about faction defection based off LS/DS choices made in-game? If so, I don't think that would work. Taking the Sith Warrior example you cited, you already have events that are tailored to your class-based LS/DS aligned choices, and should you decide to be full LS at the end, you are a covert light in the darkness of the Emperor's Council, fighting to save the Empire from itself. This works. You don't have to be a Jedi to be Light Side, just as you don't need to be a Sith to be Dark Side. The classes (Jedi/Sith, at least) are already fairly sensitive to your class-based moral choices- cutscenes change, characters come back for cameo appearances, or die outright based off of your choices.
  9. True, but not every player likes going through a 'middle man' to get the items they want. Also, all items on the GTN are priced at the whim of the players, and such whims are often arbitrary. (Lightsaber shells that are priced over 1mil credits? C'mon.) Personally, when I go shopping, I know exactly what I want, and I don't want to grab a bag full of random goodies that may or may not have the items that I want in it. Nor do I want to go to the scalper outside the store who's selling the items that I want for a profit.
  10. There's a lot of gripe about BW/EA undermining the value of a subscription with the CM unlocks, as well as focusing too much on the cash shop over actual in-game content. I personally understand why the market directors would want emphasis put on the Cartel Market- it's a source of income for the game, and the game won't exist without a source of income, and they need a means of gathering money from the free players somehow. Personally, one feature that could be added to the Cartel Market that would (in my opinion) both increase traffic to the Cartel Market (good for BW/EA) and increase the so-called 'value' of a subscription (good for Subbers) would be to allow Subbers to purchase any non-super rare CM item directly from the CM without the need for going through the gambling packs. Doing this would still keep the validity of the Cartel Pack items (for those super rare drops) and let Subbers get specific single items that they desire from the Cartel Market- giving them a reason to spend their monthly stipend of cartel coins and possibly even purchase more on top of that.
  11. I like the comment stated earlier: this is like asking if the Force is stronger than the Force. I am personally of the philosophy that the Force is the Force, and it acts and moves around the galaxy without regard to 'Light' or 'Dark' sides. In the previous example where Luke was channeling the Dark Side to defeat Vader- he was simply channeling more force into himself than Vader was. This has nothing to do with the strength of the so-called Dark Side, and everything to do with what exactly the people were doing at the time. (In this case, insticntively reaching for power, and retreating feebly respectively.) You see an opposite example in Episode III in the fight of Yoda vs Palpatine, when Sidious throws Force Lightining at Yoda. Force Lightning is regarded as the signature Dark Side mastery technique, as it takes a level of control and knowledge to attain. Yoda then uses his own knowledge of the Force to contain and harness that technique to his own purposes (turning it into a Telekenetic Wave, I believe)- The 'Dark' lost to the 'Light.' But in this case it was more of a case of whose knowlege and mastery of the Force itself was greater than the other's- and the conclusion of the fight showed that Palpatine and Yoda were (more-or-less) on equal footing in that regard, in my opinion. Alternatively, what if Darth Vader had been able to tap into Mace Windu's Vaapad combat style when fighting the Rage-empowered Luke Skywalker? Or if Yoda had known how to/ been willing to use Force Drain during his fight with Palpatine? Those fights would have been much different, don't you think? The use of the Force, and the effectiveness of such use has very little- if anything- to do with concepts of 'Light' or 'Dark' and everything to do with how adept the user is in manipulating the Force itself. Just my opinion.
  12. They also haven't stated what exactly is going to be in the PVP portion of the update, with the exception of the 4v4 matches and a new tier of gear. I know that whatever they do unveil at 2.4, you'll complain anyway, but at least give them the opportunity to implement the thing before you start bashing it. This game is primarily story driven- that's been the selling point of the entire game since launch. Of course any large update is going to have some sort of PVE content, since that is what the game was built around. Even if said update is a 'PVP patch.' Does that excuse their supposed lack of attention to the PVP crowd? Not necissarily, but if you skim the forums for a bit, you'll see just as much PVE complaints as PVP ones (if not more), which drives me to conclude that they're focusing on what they want to focus on, regardless of if it's PVP or PVE content. In conclusion- don't complain about something that you haven't recieved. You don't know what you're getting yet. And if you dislike the PVP content of this game so much, and you know of a better place to get your PVP kick, then take your business elsewhere.
  13. granted, but it misfires and catches your house on fire. I wish that I had unlimited magical capacity with the ability to use it.
  14. Twice since update 2.2.1 have my companions run away during a class-specific instanced quest. The first was during the turn in of the Smuggler final chapter 1 quest- upon using the elevator to talk to Risha, Bowdarr apparantly found the concept of facing Nok Drayen so abhorrent that he ran through the walls and as far as he could possibly go. Upon using the elevator to exit the floor, Bowdaar would re-appear as if nothing had happened. This caused me to lose out on any companion affection I might have gained during that quest phase, as Bowdaar was apparently too far away to register as an active companion. The second time was last night- Corso Riggs' instanced companion quest called Gunfight in Gorinth Canyon. I find and enter the instance fine, and Corso even sticks with me for the most part, but when I get to the final room with the panel that I need to interact with, Corso apparently finds a barrier that I don't see and refuses to enter the room- even when I'm under attack. Indeed, he found the fight so unsettling that he too decided to take a trip through the walls and go exploring the wilds of Balmoora while I finished the phase- causing the remainder of the quest to be disorienting as the camera would try to shift to Corso's position during the following cutscene, only to have the camera jump around as it tried to locate him on the map. I lost out on companion affection gain on that one too, as Corso was too far away. And no, resetting the phase did not solve the problem. EDIT: I'm also getting slightly irritated by the automated responses to certian (almost all) bug reports. I submit a /bug report about a mission, and I get an automated response asking me to resubmit it to the mission category of the trouble ticket area. I then submit a report to the mission category of the trouble ticket area (since it is similar to the afore mentioned bug) and get an automated message to resubmit the ticket to the /bug report. Seriously? Does a real person read these reports? If so, what prevents you from forwarding them on to the appropriate help desk representative/ developer? By the time that I've gotten the message to resend the report, it's been several hours, many quests, and possibly even a full sleep cycle between me and the event that inspired the report in the first place. My memory is good, but you're still not going to get the same detail of reporting that you would have gotten if you had asked me immediately upon the submission of the report.
  15. I mean, SWTOR takes place approximately 3000 years before the destruction of the first Death Star, right? So, that's about 2900 years before Ewoks were discovered, on an optimistic scale. Ewoks are portrayed in the movies as being very simple- stone weapons, tribal society, and lifestyle somewhat similar to tribal indians and aboriginals. So, our society and technology has advanced astronomically in the last 3000 years. Why would an Ewok of 3000 years prior to the society that we see in Return of the Jedi look exactly the same, have the same culture and same language? Am I the only one irritated by this lack of respect to galactic lore and natural/social evolution?
  16. Nope. Did a hard mode run yesterday and we did the shuttle trick with no 'suprises.' The suprise is when you kite the wookiee to the back of the elevator. The Ugnaughts don't despawn and glitch their health to something of 500% of their normal, so you walk into a massive pile of extra tough pigs that you have to burn down or they follow you all the way to the elevator.
  17. 1. like the highlighted portriat of HK that is in your Legacy Unlock page if you have him/ have unlocked him? This feature is already available. 2. There is nothing stopping you from doing this. If you want to create a story for your characters, you are free to do so. Post it in a forum, or your guild page, or something. If they implemented a character bio slot for your character sheet that was visible to anyone who wanted to inspect yoru character, it'd probably be limited to a very small number of characters to limit the strain on processing requirements as that mass of data would be carried with your character at all times. Maybe supplying such a block for a link to a character post if so desired would be good, but that text block could be easily abused by trolls and/or immature people. (slim difference, I know.) 3. I actually fully agree with this. If we have the ability to see a person's achievements, then why can't we see their Legacy Tree? +1 for a good suggestion. 4. Subscribers, Premium players and F2P players can have quite a few characters on a server. You just need to purchase the individual character slot unlocks off of the Cartel Market. I don't know what the actual maximum number of characters per server is, but everyone has the ability to increase their character pool. (and why do you need 22 characters on a single server? Seems excessive to me, and I've got 8 on Harbinger.)
  18. Holy wall of text, batman! From what I gathered from the massive text bomb, you'd like an interactive legacy that unlocked quests that brought your other characters into your individual character's saga- based off how you placed them in the legacy tree. That's an amazing idea, and I love it. Unfortunately, if they ever did something like that, I doubt it would ever live up to your expansive expectation, or anyone who takes the time to build an acutal story with their legacy. For instance, you said that you haven't built your JK yet. So, how would you be able to unlock a mission to meet him if he's not built yet? And assuming you do build your entire legacy first and place them in the family tree immediately upon recieving your legacy, each toon can only occupy a single space on a single toon's relationship wheel. For instance- my legacy is based off of the Teen Titans. My main character is Raven. I have a Sith Warrior named Trigon, who is Raven's father and her ultimate rival/nemisis. I can only put him as her father or her rival, but not both. Family trees get confusing by themselves. When you include rivalries or alliances, things get even more confusing. I can't expect BW/EA to be able to incorporate a decent cutscene/legacy quest line of the sort that you are talking about that could live up to the expectations of anyone thinking about it. The only way they could ever make something like this that was worthwhile would be if they created a specific storyline for the Legacy system, but that would end up removing the creative customization aspect of the Legacy family system that is already in use- even if it's only for asthetic purposes. P.S: it might be in your interest to use paragraphs to break up your ideas- it makes your suggestions easier to read.
  19. Thank you for this. As someone who doesn't like mucking with the guts of the games, this is definitely helpful.
  20. I rolled my legacy before they became non-unique, and all the toons on it are tied to the legacy in some way or another, alternative spelling required for some due to not being the first to get to the name. the Teen-Titans Legacy: Arella- Miriluka Jedi Knight Rayvn- Chiss Jedi Consular Beast-boy - Mirialan Smuggler Cy'borg- Cyborg Trooper Koryand'r- Cathar Sith Inquisitor Richard-grayson- Human Bounty Hunter Malch'or- Chiss Imperial Agent Tri'gon- Sith Pureblood Sith Warrior
  21. Don't forget that Tara Strong is also the voice of Raven from Teen Titans. She's a very talented voice actress.
  22. This is a very good example. HBO offers extra quality services to people who subscribe to their channel in order to give real value to the customer's subscription and entice others to become subscribers. If HBO were only offering the same services as basic cable, and were charging you a premium to see new content- content that could be purchased for viewing through Netflix at the same time- would you stay subscribed to HBO? The issue here is that people are looking at the service provided to a subscriber, not the item purchased. This game isn't an item. I can't hold it, resell it or destroy it if I don't like it. It's a service provided by Bioware and EA. If you are dissatisfied with the service provided you, you try to improve that service through petititon, find a new service provider (if possible,) or drop the service. Since BW/EA are the only providers for the SWTOR service, dissatisfied customers can't go to another provider, and if they mostly like the service, they don't want to drop it. So, they turn to the forums and voice their dissatisfaction in an attempt to alert the service provider of the issues they have with the flawed service and in hopes to improve their service. Those who feel that the service is decreasing in value, in relation to the service provided to people who don't pay a recurring fee, feel snubbed and wonder why the loyal, paying fanbase is not being treated prefferentially to those who are not investing time and money into the service, and again turn to these forums in an attempt to have their grievance heard. Just my interpretation of how things happen here.
  23. We may never know. Unless you know someone with a TARDIS.
  24. And indeed, it is the fact that the mentality that you are espousing is what seems to be the rule of the day for the developers at EA/BW that is causing many people to question their subscriber status. Why keep throwing money at an organization that does not appreciate your contribution? If all subscribers are to EA/BW is money numbers, then they will lose subscribers sooner rather than later, and that will cause them to lose income. While the rule 'profit is king' is for the most part true, marketing skills in a consumer-based business requires the service provider to be able to entice their consumers to stay with their service. This is usually done by providing quality services, and exceptionally good businesses make their consumers feel happy to give their money to the business because they feel that the business is happy for their patronage. Anything else will cause the consumers to drop the service, and the business will lose its source of income. Using your own argument, (Profit is King) BW/EA should want subscribers to remain subscribers, and even convince F2P and Premium players to upgrade to the subscriber experience, because doing so would generate additional profit for BW/EA. The only way to do that is to make the subscriber experience something that is enjoyable and worthwhile.
