  1. No, it's not the 'lack of appreciation' that's the major issue. It's the lack of game-centered content that subscribers don't have to pay cartel coins to access that is the major issue. At least for me, anyway. For instance, take the character customization kiosk on fleet. Why is that Cartel Coin only? How game breaking would it be for subscribers to have access to use in-game credits for this feature? (Or anyone with the required in-game money pool.) I personally understand that quality content takes time to craft, but it is the lack of quality content that is just available to both CM and in-game credits is frustrating. Or even not dual availabilty. Here's an idea- make any non-super rare Cartel Market item available for individual purchase by subscribers instead of having to rely on the gambling packs. That would be a subscriber perk worth mentioning.
  2. They just gave you (as of right now) 1100 CCs for being a subscriber. (Monthly stipend plus this bonus.) That's about 10USD, which is probably pretty close to what you are paying for your subscription this month. If they give us another 500CC at the end of the month, then they just converted the cost of your sub this month into your cartel coin bank. From a marketing standpoint, that's pretty thoughtful. Is it what a large portion of subscribers were wanting? Not really, but that doesn't mitigate the guesture either.
  3. But this is true of anywhere on the internet. Or real life, unfortunately. Truly constructive criticism is hard to come by, which is why when you see it, it would be nice to have the devs acknowledge it.
  4. I completely agree, and this is why when subscribers complain, it's for a valid reason. (They just need to complain in a coherent and civilized fashion.)
  5. Not all. I'm a casual player and I'm a long-term subber. Will likely remain so, as I like the idea of being able to log in and have my characters exactly the way that I left them without having to jump through hoops to reactivate my subscription. Also, mostly I'm a casual player because my job requires me to be such. I can be away from the internet for extended periods of time, and that's not condusive for an active mmo player.
  6. I agree, to a point. If you are subscribing to a service that you are completely dissatisfied with, then by all means, drop the service. But if you are only dissatisfied with some aspects of the service, wouldn't it be a valid option to see if you can't get those aspects improved and thus improve your experience with that service? Those subscribers who proceed to express their dissatisfaction in calm, collected fashions are attempting to make the game better by pointing out what they don't like about the game. Those that flame the game and rant and rave agressively are just seeking attention and should (in my opinion) simply be ignored.
  7. What exactly do you mean by 'developer interaction, on neutral grounds'? As for the potential for getting the development team in trouble legally for communicating about suggestions, that'd be a fairly easy fix- either put such content in the game for free (no profit = no legal grounds for lawsuit) or post a disclaimer about intellectual property ownership being waived in the suggestions forum.
  8. Confused. I thought this whole thread was a request for the Devs to give feedback, posted by the community? Your opening statement is not supported by the rest of your post. But, I do agree. Any form of feedback from the developers or even the moderators would be appreciated. Anything to let the community know that their voices are being heard in some fashion.
  9. That's a very valid point, and I'm glad that you're satisfied with your gaming experience. The truth is, though, that a lot of other people aren't satisfied, and many of their complaints are valid. (Even if they're not expressed in a constructive manner most of the time.)
  10. So, in other words, if you're a casual player.
  11. And honestly speaking, I believe that this (quite valid) sentiment is exactly why long-time subbers are frustrated with the apparent lack of subscriber appreciation.
  12. Actually, if you've been subbed for more than 10-12 months, according to this, you've already given more money to Star Wars than the general subscriber perks are worth, access to warzones and all else included. Just saying. I'm in that list, btw- I've got my founder's title, even if I never use it.
  13. I don't refute that. But, this is the simple response to the question of 'why am I paying money for something that is free?' These are the things we get for paying money for this game. These are the things we got for paying money for the game before it was free, yes, but that doesn't change anything either.
  14. First, let me state that I have been a subscriber since launch, and will likely remain one for some time to come. This post is to put in writing, for my benifit and those of the community who claim that the developers do not truly appreciate the subscriber community, the list of things that Subscribers get from the game. Firstly, a subsriber pays anywhere from 13 to 15 USD a month for their subscription. This is what they get for their purchase: Priority login status. (you are more important to get onto full servers) Full story content from level 1-50. Maximum (and boosted) skill slots. Unlimited Chat use in-game. Unlimited use of in-game mail (credits and 8 items per message.) Capability to trade between players. 50 sales slots on the GTN at any given time. Free Respecialization for all characters. Open character creation choices- 12 character slots. (premium and F2P are limited.) Unlimited access to Flashpoints, Operations, Space Missions, and Warzones. Ability to increase character inventory with in-game credits. (CC only for Premium and F2P.) Unlimited use and reduced CD on quick travel. (compared to Premium and F2P) Unlimited use of Emergency Fleet Pass. Early access to Speeder Liscences. Unlimited field revives (Medcenter and Med Probe.) Automatic access to all gear levels. Increased weekly commendation cap. Join and lead full access guilds. Discount at all vendors. Experience gain boosted. Access to rested experience boost. Boost to Valor gain. Automatic access to 6 quickbars. Automatic access to event rewards. Discount on mod removal and augmenting costs. Full access to Customer Service resources. No cap on credits. And a monthly stipend of 600 cartel coins. So, let's break this down. It costs 600 CC to unlock a character slot, so for a premium player, that's 3600 CC to equal a subber. (6000 for F2P.) It costs 300 CC per character for access to Section X (1350 for account)- access that Subbers get for free. 900/2430 for the ability to equip purple gear. 325/725 for the ability to customize your companion's looks. 175/400 for the ability to use event items. 600/1350 for the ability to access guild banks. 125/280 for 10 extra sales slots on the GTN (625/1400 for premium or F2P to equal subber access) 250/540 for each additional quickbar. (500/1080 for premium; 1000/2160 for F2P to equal subber access) 475/1050 for access to cargo holds. (only F2P are limited in this regard.) 475/1050 to increase your cargo hold. (subbers can do this with in-game credits.) 420/945 per crew skill slot. (840/1890 for F2P to almost equal subber- boosted skills are not sold.) 100/200 to display titles. 350/775 to be able to hide head gear and 600 CC per race to unlock for character creation. 350/775 to be able to unify equipment colors 100/200 to be able to display Legacy names. So, if a free to play player wants to have all the same perks as a subscriber, they have to shell out a minimum of 21755 Cartel coins (roughly 80 USD), and even then they still have limits on Flashpoints, Operations, Warzones, Space Missions, credits and lack access to the bonuses and discounts available to subscribers throughout the game. (my math may be wrong, feel free to check it for me.) Meanwhile, the Subbers are being given a little more than 5 USD back in cartel coins each month, as a 'thank you' for giving money to the company. These are the current benifits of being a subscriber. Listed, quantified and compared for anyone who wants to see them.
  15. Great idea. Personally, I would love for Voss to be a playable race. At this point in the game, they've joined a faction (depending on which side you play) and fit all the criteria that the devs have stated allow for player characters. (speak basic, generally human shaped and sized, capable of using the Force, ect.) Having Voss become a player race would really feel like the galactic storyline was actually progressing somewhat, in my opinon.
  16. And why would changing that be a total victory for cartel market users? Would you really be happy with the development team putting an additional companion up for purchase on the Cartel Market only, with no means of getting him/her/it through gameplay? I was never a proponent for in-game play exclusivity for the new companion (for that matter, I'm morally opposed to having an Ewok running around in a timeline ~3000 years prior to the battle at Yavin.) Having her be available for purchase with cartel coins is a good market strategy and makes her available for new players, and I think that's a good thing. However, the instant you put a fluff companion exclusively on the Cartel Market, you create a precedent for more actual content to be placed exclusively on the cartel market. What if they eventually increase your companion storyline? They could put that unlock on the cartel market, and you'd have to pay for it piecemeal. I don't like that precedent, or what it could lead to.
  17. For me, the thing is that this game did not originate as free to play, and I joined it at that time. Since the shift to free to play, there has been little, if any, incentive to remain a subscriber as each subsequent update to the game has been increasingly cartel market oriented and less about actual in-game content besides rehashing the same content at an increased difficulty- and given how difficult it is for a casual player to obtain the gear needed for Nightmare runs, it's not exactly useful for a significant portion of the community. I agree that the game and its developers are not perfect, and indeed I am glad that they aren't. Being part of a community as it evolves into somehting better is a wonderful thing, and is part of the reson why I subbed at launch (just missed the beta phase.) I knew that the game was going to be unpolished and incomplete, but the potential for greatness 3, 5, or 10 years down the line was limitless. I mean, it's freaking Star Wars! I still like this game. I love the community that I game with when I can. I am still (for now) going to remain a subscriber. I just wish that the dev team would show some sign that they are listening to the (sometimes) constructive criticism and (sometimes) good ideas put forth by the community. We all acknowledge that this game is unfinished; that it has room for improvement. We stick around because we hope that the game will move in that direction.
  18. Because the content was designed around a team of 4/8/16 Player characters with player level intellegence and tactics. Companion AI is not on par to run a comparable operation or flashpoint (overleveled and overgeared is different) and adding them in addition to a full group imbalances the challenge level by increasing the dps/healing abilities of the party.
  19. But on the other hand, they could take that opportunity to explain in plain language why such suggestions aren't feasable/ won't be forthcoming for a long time. Take, for instance, your 'OMG I love Wookies, let's make them a race!" proposed thread. Dev 1 might cite that thread and a few comments in it, and proceed to explain that while many people on the Dev team like our tall, furry friends, the inability to speak basic combined with their anatomy being incompatable with current gear selections makes them a very poor choice for a player race, and as such aren't likely to be put on the table for such any time in the future. They could then go on to talk about how the development team has noted the interest in increased racial choices for player characters, and are currently developing three races to be released upon completion (and choose to either reveal some or all of the races, or a general expected release date for the content.) ((Again, just going off of the prooffered racial suggestion and using info on current development that I've seen around the forums as an example.)) Doing so would let the community know that the Devs or Mods are paying attention to the desires of the community, and let us know that they're not dismissing reasonable suggestions out of hand. I don't like your long-range planner idea, for the simple reason that issues happen that push things off delivery date, or take them off the table entirely. Even with small, vague things like the 'subscriber appreciation' thing that was mentioned to be coming out sometime around the 4th of July and again around the end of the month, and you already see disgruntled people coming out the woodworks about 'why isn't this promised thing here on time?!!' Trying to organize an entire patch/update process in the open like that would only encourage more of the same and remove the opportunity for the development team to suprise the community with something new and exciting.
  20. It's not a random thing that flags you. Your tormentor spotted that you use AOE attacks and maneuvered him/herself into position to get hit by it- thus flagging you, and they struck while you were wondering why in the world you got flagged. I agree that accidental flagging can be an issue, but I would much rather not get flagged for healing someone in a heroic group instance, or rezing someone on the field. Also, having PVP flags unpop after transport to a medcenter (at least in a PVE server) would be insanely superior to the current system, because the PVP griefers could get their kicks once, and I'm alright with getting ganked once and moving on with my story/quest, but having to wait 5 minutes is a pain.
  21. yeah, that happens when the camera clips through your character's head. Just move or zoom in/out one stage.
  22. So, I'm new to the whole MMO scene, and I've been playing SWTOR since launch. I'm curious about the RP servers, and the community there. Anyone want to enlighten me? PS- I'm an avid paper+dice roleplayer, so I do have some understanding of the RP process.
  23. While I do agree that having the staff reply to every thread would be an insane waste of time, I also agree with the sentiment that it would be nice for the Devs/Mods to show some sort of attention to the Suggestion Box forum. I suggested something in a different thread, but it probably got lost in all the posts. I would love if a Dev or Mod would, once a week or so, post a thread detailing either their favorite suggestions or discussions about the suggestions. Doing this would answer the question of if the management is listening to the voices of the community, and also make it obvious that they are actually appreciating the feedback of the players.
  24. You mean like the Living Legend title that you get at Legacy Level 50?
