  1. you're freaking kidding right? if you have problems with a sorc then you need to quit. Sorcs were over healing and they addressed that. Fixing an ability so it works properly, instead of giving excessive boosts to overall healing, is a good thing... brings everyone to a better place. They're explaining those changes, those changes made sense... players who had sorcs + another class all said the sorc was just too easymode. They aren't explaining more than half of the other changes however, which is the bigger issue. The fact that they'd rather throw in "gems" like the mandalorian title or the timeline ******** instead of addressing issues that people actually want to hear about is insulting, they may as well shmear peanut butter on their balls so they can hover themselves above a keyboard while a tap-dancing dog underneath writes next weeks Q&A. ffs...
  2. This is hard to read.... not physically difficult but i can't actually believe what i'm reading with this Q&A nonsense... - Ops/scoundrels are not even given a glimmer of a shadow of a hope of a thought that may manifest into a comment someday. - Server pops still a glaring issue - Lets give mercs an in-combat rez to merc, on top of their lvl 50 ability they already have. i agree with everyone here... fluff fluff fluff. I'll not give another cent to this game until they start trying to really deal with issues, instead of sweeping the dust under another carpet and calling the room clean. I loved playing my marauder and my operative equally but when i see marauders getting more help(definitely lneeded ataru form love) and operatives getting shafted on cd, rotation, hidden nerfs, etc... It makes it feel even worse that the operative nerfs have gone unexplained for over a week now, i can only imagine how many subs have been lost due to the lack of attention being paid to the real, game destroying issues. If you don't change your act soon, you may not be able to save this game from the wave of new-er games headed this way in a month or two. But my final question is.... Do you guys need help with your game? It really seems like you could use a hand from people who want this game to work. Because plenty of ppl want this game to be successful... It just seems like those people aren't on your dev/customer support team.
  3. that and enhancement shamans... my troll druid looks so cool! 1.2 apparently is getting more changes before going live... yawn, wake me when they give us anything... Apparently they're considering giving a battle rez to mercenaries. So where's the new lvl 50 ability for operatives(and...*shiver* sorcs) to balance it out? This game makes less and less sense every time i try to log on and play. I never make it past the log in client, i just don't feel the urge to play swtor. And yea, it's got quite a lot to do with mr zoeller and his wonderful sparkly personality coupled with his charming boyish wit.
  4. DISCLAIMER: I do not work from blizzard nor have i ever been paid by them to say or do anything. Additionally, you can replace the other game i went back to with any number of other games, old or upcoming: Rift, Tera, Guild wars 2... even mass effect 3 has a better talent system(although it is a different genre) because i do love what bioware is capable of, just not exactly loving what they're doing with this game. Well after playing around with other games besides this one i think i'm making up my mind about game i'd really like to play. The choice was of course fueled by silly game changes, terrible coding, a constantly failing engine and the worst customer service i've ever experienced from a company have led me to not wanting to be bothered with this game, a game i had quite a bit of fun playing. As you can see from my sig i play a marauder and operative and im having a blast on both of them, both level 50. I'd be a battlemaster on my operative before i even would've gotten all my champ gear with this new valor system. I'm really excited for legacy and for the new operation but is that really enough to keep me playing a game that's not working properly? I love star wars but something is calling to me elsewhere... Devs picking sides for different classes, being rude and intentionally unhelpful... Making game changes without putting real thought into what might happen when you nerf one ability that has another ability relying on the first ability to work. Making massive class changes without any sort of informative explanation or backing up why they thought EVEN MORE nerfs were necessary. Now for the real purpose of this post, i've said all the above crap before. For those of you who care, i've gone back to playing a very cataclysmic mmo while i wait for "latin devil 3" to come out and i am having quite a good time. The talent trees, dungeons and raids are all feeling more immersive and rewarding. When you spec in a certain tree you feel as though your points are all well spent and like you really do have a niche role, no matter what spec it is. While i do miss the star wars veil over everything, the only big difference is auto attacks and the conversation wheel. My server is kind of dead but all the cross server functionality is very handy and they're trying to gear fresh people for the newest raids so they don't need to do old raids that no ones doing anymore. There's even intense cutscenes in the raids now. There's a new feature called transmogrification, basically you take your current item(we'll go with weapon, 2h mace) and you think it looks just awful. Well pull your old stormherald out of the bank and bam your new mace can look like an older model one for a few gold. Plus there's the arcane reforging... Don't like a secondary stat on your gear? reduce that stat by 40% or so and add another secondary stat of your choice. And don't forget the fully customizable UI, macros for simple things(people who run full spell rotations in macros are lame) and 3rd party add-ons to let me move my health bars to where i can see them near my character. The little things really add up when they affect the big things, even if they're just quality of life improvement. Anyways, i'm not trying to be a fan boy or talk up the competition i'm just giving people my views after taking a break from a faulty game to go play one that looks beautiful, plays flawlessly and has a dev team that knows how to take care of it's community... All of it. The biggest thing i miss combat wise of course, is the .5-1sec pre-cast option... That's a nice option(but doesnt always matter in pvp). If you're hanging on to swtor for any reason and think you've left other games for a good reason... you may be wrong. Go play a fully functional game and tell me it doesn't feel miles apart. Doesn't mean you have to leave swtor, just means you can try playing something else and comparing the two... Good luck, operatives especially, i hope this game goes free soon so it'll be worth it for everyone to play... i've lost lots of friends in this game due to bad dev decision making. This awful dev team is starting to seal the deal for me... Perhaps this all really was a big corporate scheme to get people to come pre-order and play a new game that people were really excited about it, then when it didn't live up to expectations people would be so starved for a good time they'd go back to all their other games from before and would be happier than ever. It's like leaving your old gf for a new hot supermodel, but you realize she's really high maintenance, doesn't like your friends and just wants you to spend your money on her. Then your old gf seems like heaven on earth. TL: DR section So my suggestion is that players and devs alike, go back to those games you used to play and remember why you liked them so much and what they have to offer. Remember what used to suck and how they changed it to make it better. This is a very young game but with one of the biggest pre-order/early subscriptions numbers in history, a huge upset over patch notes/game changes and (once again) an awful dev team that seems to only value those advanced classes that are the most played make it increasingly hard to put up with this, even with some good things coming out of 1.2 patch. Food for thought. keep it real star wars.
  5. DISCLAIMER: I am not nor have i ever been a blizzard employee. I'm merely a guy who loves star wars and was immensely disappointed with the star wars game i invested my time and money into. Play a different class/spec, is not good enough for a game with this kind of a team. Unacceptable. Well my sub stops today, i cancelled so i didn't waste another $15 on this game without it being something really worth putting my time into. Silly game-changes, terrible coding, a constantly failing engine and the worst customer service i've ever experienced from a company have led me to not wanting to be bothered with this game, a game i had quite a bit of fun playing. 6. right but don't forget we lost 10% on laceration initially, 2% on shiv talents in the lethality tree and 5% from backstab... so they took away 10%, 2%, 5% and 3% (from culling) and gave back 4%, 0%, 4% and 0% respectively. Don't forget the 3% crit they took away for some reason... I wonder if they're stupid or just need more math classes, -20-23% =/= +8%... this is a nerf no matter how much energy they might save us... The 5 energy from Lacerate is easily evened out by the 5 energy you spend on backstab every 12 sec(and the 2 extra energy from acid blade), alongside the .5 extra energy regen you lose from the stim boost+ they moved around. This is just ridiculous... I'm really liking this game but i just don't understand... it's making my head hurt, what is going thru your minds bioware?? Also, the "grunt response" mentioned... Did you take away my laugh when i get TA re-grants? at least make it an option, don't just take that out... i actually like it. Options people, not definitives... Use your brains. P.S. i knew what that south park clip would be before i even clicked the link. perfect, my friend. Simply perfect. P.S.S. don't forget that Meticulously Kept Blades still gives 30% crit bonus damage to SEVER TENDON and not Laceration. Smart.
  7. but i guarantee those games don't have customer service that's nearly at this level of "high quality ****" that bioware puts out. Game was workin fine hours ago, an emergency patch is hardly necessary. No one still seems to know what the problem actually is.
  8. trolls post because they do not understand... As stated above, the visual effects matter a LOT because your damage isn't dealt until the visual impacts on your target. So if you put shock and project side by side, shock hits instantly because it's just a pop of electricity. Project has to pull a rock up out of the ground and then throw it. I've actually had to time go immune after an opponent casts project, but before it hits me, saved my life and i was able to finish him. The same thing can be said for the IA explosive probe and the smugglers Sabotage charge. The smuggler has to physically throw the charge onto an enemy in order for it to work, having a ~1 sec travel time to reach its target. Imperial agents call explosive probe down from the sky instantly, allowing you to actually cast Snipe THEN explosive probe and have that same snipe shot blow up the explosive probe. Also dirty kick had issues being used if not standing completely still where debilitate happened immediately and without issues. The "mirror" classes are only that way in theory, not in actuality. And yes, it's still offensive to be treated as such by a developing member of the bioware team, i know he was taught manners at some point but clearly not given the capacity to use them. I would certainly be upset if i were this guys boss, what a dick remark.
  9. You truly think it's Normal Human Behavior to deflect questions with ******** answers that are meant to make the reciever of said comment look stupid? People who give thought out points... They've posted 50+ times on other class forums but operatives get a few "hush hush, don't worry we still care kind of" posts and one that's all "are you stupid? they're different classes... i mean, you can read right??" It's offensive to have those things said and it's even more offensive to receive a post to this thread, when they could've posted about any other well put thread. This one isn't exactly optimal for a dev to make their point... This whole thing is just insulting, obviously they have plans but they feel like giving every other class pep talks and assurances except for telling us "we're fine, l2p".
  10. i appreciate the help but evasion isn't always up. However i usually do save evasion for those situations but that, of course, relies on cloaking screen working properly too. And no i know plenty of sorcs who feel the same way i do, they don't get that talent because as you stated, it doesn't last very long and you'll be able to work around it most times, adding useless resolve to your bar. In situations where everyone is getting dotted up and bubbles are bursting on multiple people it leads to a lot of full resolve bars with no real results. Trust me man, my buddy was using the sorc hybrid spec before anybody else was talking about it on the forums. it's ok.
  11. Ha so these guys are then effectively complaining about that bubble mezz? no one ever gets that ****... If he saw a sorc/sage with that then he was fighting either a pure lightning sorc or a bad one, no one ever gets that garbage talent. That 3 sec mezz has never hindered me from killing a sorc once, and i doubt it's happened to me more than a handful of times. The 5 sec root that's unbreakable is what breaks the sorc from a CC perspective. Why would you want to add resolve to your enemy every time your shield breaks rofl... i was confused for "bad" reasons, get it? lol Also after a few matches on my Op today i realize the other annoying point of sorcs vs us... affliction. 18 sec duration and we can't cleanse it. No vanish for us except for the re-attack, gotta time it right after a tick and if you have two DoTs.... forget it.
  12. i don't think you realize exactly how the bubble-break works, you called it a mezz which it is not... When their bubble breaks, it explodes and pushes enemies away from the sorc. Then you get rooted in place for 4 sec, immobilized effectively(which is not effected by resolve). However, this does not break with any movement-impairing-effect-remove abilities whether it be the countermeasures talent in lethality or using evasion... I'm not even sure that escape breaks it but i haven't wasted my 2min cd on an immobilize in a long time. If you get knocked back by this bubble, it was normally be 15 yds or farther away(unless you get blown uphill or something, but they'll start standing up after 1.5 sec allowing them to effectively cast something at the 2 sec mark. While we're still rooted for 2 more seconds. yes you can use sever tendon but that's based on one of two conditions... IF you're close enough while trapped in your electric-chains for 2x as long as your knockdown or IF you don't get whirlwind'd as soon as you become unbound from your immobilization. Then if you wait out the 8 sec cc your resolve bar will still be partially empty and they could use jolt still. Then you could break their jolt with your escape like a smart person but they'll have their bubble-root up again, which is what kids?? Not effected by resolve, that's right. And this is coming from marauder, so i get it from both sides. Sorc's aren't the problem in a 1v1 scenario as plenty of people in this thread have already stated. The problem is that this is not a 1v1 game, so you can take 10 extra seconds to pick off a sorc while using every single cooldown and feel great about yourself sure but the fact is that 7/10 times the sorc will get help before you finish him off or will be able to infinitely cc you and speed away at 150%. If you get your rotation right then yes, killing sorcs is a blast but they have so many delaying factors that if you actually get a kill on a sorc it's less because you overpowered the sorc and more because his team wasn't protecting their healer. (or you got lucky crits) Competent sorcs will be able to outrange a sorc and even a marauder with the bubble-burst, the chain lightning perma-slow and incredible amounts of cc. Killing noobs is really fun but it won't matter in ranked warzones so balance needs to get on top of things before then... it becomes less about the op being underpowered and more about the sorc having too much of everything and the only weakness being light armor.
  13. If it's by design then bioware never mentioned it and it certainly hasn't always been doing that. Again, i hope that's what tonites all about... we'll see, this games got lots of things they can fix in 8 hrs.
  14. in a wz about 30 min ago i saw two scoundrels in voidstar about 30 yds away from me(both were stealthed) and i could see them coming in and out of vision as they went across my screen from left to right. it was like.... on for 2 sec, off for 2 sec... on.... off.... on... off... Somethings definitely up. Maybe they'll do stuff involving that with this long 8 hr patch with no real patch notes floating around yet.
  15. If you're in full BM gear and really truly feel the need to have 6% crit instead of more utility somewhere then by all means, do what you gotta do. If you feel the need to pop berserk to kill a guy, go ahead. I do it every so often in 1v1 scenarios where i'm fighting someone i won't kill with ease. But i usually don't need to have that extra crit from malice or berserk to kill an opponent, so i don't get it. That's the opinion part i discussed earlier. However dealing damage is not my only job in warzones... i'm a ball runner, a defender, the guy who charges in vs 4 people in mid so my team can cap the side unopposed. I'm not just there to do damage, i'm there to help the team win. i never once said that you need ferocity btw, i do however pick it for intimidation purposes and no one can run away from me in pvp. i don't need berserk to get my kills and predation just lasts so long. I get to the republic's side node in civil war just as they're starting to cap the turret and i'm in charge range. Close quarters may seem like a choice to some people but if you realized the utility you'd never live without it. immobilizing that guy right in front of you in the fire to get the ball back. Or immobilizing that gunslinger before he goes around the corner to stop your buddy from bombing the door. If you don't think you need close quarters and think malice is super important for pvp then i can say no more. i do my job better than 95% of other marauders, i've met 5 who actually play on my level. This isn't me bragging or trying to sound egotistical i'm being honest and i'm trying to help new players. The fact of the matter is i just don't get beaten by other marauders that don't outgear me severely, and i'm battlemaster now so that's about to be in the past too. My spec wasn't always optimal but i've taken the time to refine it and why wouldn't you feel the need for a 0yd charge, 100% damage reduction for 40sec and of course, while being optimal, extra move speed is always nice. Nothing like 20 combined seconds of 80% run speed increase to score the winning huttball point. And if they all die because they can't run away then i guess that is pretty intimidating, isn't it?
  16. at least i use separate specs for pve and pvp... why would i want to waste points in subjugation for PvE purposes? I wouldn't but you would it seems.... but i wouldn't dare PvP without that talent. Wait wait, so you're really actually choosing things over close quarters?? That seems silly to me, what about that talent seems optional... To go annihilation without getting the 0 yd charge... what could be more important... People still feel the need to get hungering AND seeping wound which is silly. You're missing the rest of the things in the tree... I'd rather get ferocity and phantom for pvp instead of healing 20% of my health over 15 sec. That's a single grav round crit(or the 2nd/3rd grav round dmg) If you're gonna PvP you should at least use something like this for annihilation... http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#100bIMRrkrfGzZhMZ0M.1 You need the close quarters, phantom, and empowerment (i've tried 1/2 empowerment for about a day and i missed those early annihilates thanks to extra DoT-tick rage) do have the kind of utility that warzones demand on tap. If you need to immobilize the guy with the huttball right in front of you in the fire, you'd either pick carnage spec or use your close quarters. What about fighting a healer, baits you with the longer cast heal for your disruption then comes back with the short heal right afterwards... you interrupt that with the charge and you're that much closer to killing that healer. I pick ferocity because nothing is as intimidating in PvP as a marauder who is doing 3k (unbuffed with stims/trinkets)white hits while moving 80% faster than you. Plus scoring the ball is so incredibly easy when you've got 10 sec of 80% move speed then you pop Fervor and then predation immediately after for the goal. And as far as your snarky one spec comment goes, i already stated that the last 10 points are to be put where you see fit, but what you apparently didn't notice is that the original 31 pts in annihilation never changed. And marauders can still spec however they want to sure, but you will see the good ones using certain specs and other ones missing out on key talents or trying to do warzones and operations optimally with the same spec. You'll be missing out on something if you really want to be best at both because it can't be with the same spec.
  17. Yes that talent certainly does help. Again the last 10 are pretty much up to your discretion. If i would take defensive roll i'll probably end up 31/10/0 with the last point in accuracy so i could re-allocate an enhancement. Could put 1 pt in malice but i'd rather get that crit enhancement so i get crit for my white dmg too. Very interesting... Always good discussing these things as it opens new windows and enlightens everyone.
  18. So you're saying that because operatives get to use an "auto-attack" that doesn't cost energy... I... ugh... Can we delve a little deeper instead of just "I CAN SAY WORDS, HEAR ME!!" If you're talking about commando/merc then that's one thing. They get an ability that allows their "auto-attack" to actually HEAL their targets. Operatives can spin their auto attack all day long on a friendly target, nothing will happen. Your point is moot because why would operative healers ever use their auto attack like a merc does?? so in that fashion, operatives and sorcs are in the same boat. Except DS is vastly inferior to the innervate ability. All of this is just nonsense, the Dev response, the bad troll responses, the clear ignoring of the actual issues by almost everyone... It's unreal seeing this many people who don't care about making the game work well or who are against open discussion and questioning what's given to us, like all humans do. This is not solely about this thread either, this is about almost everything involving the internet now-a-days as it were. But honestly devs, we pay for this game and a lot of people have already stopped putting up with your ******** and have moved on to other games. I still have faith for some reason bioware so i guess i'll stick around while i wait for 1.2... Unless your plan was to fail so miserably at this games development so that it would heighten sales/re-subs for mass effect 3, tera, gw2 or rift/wow or something... Some big corporate scheme to get people to spend initial money then stop making smart changes so that players quit and more on? Just thinking out loud.... But if 1.2 fails in any way for class balances, you will see a community disappearance from this game the likes of which have not been seen here before and the cool legacy changes and droid companion affection won't save your hides. Failing at 1.2 will kill this game instantly, instead of continuing to allow it to ride the slow-boat down death river like you are now. Plenty of great options will be out in mid april. You'll need to have given players another reason to stay here by then; other than "oooh look it's a WoW clone with star wars lore in it and a mass effect conversation wheel plus a dev team that makes rash decisions without testing!" The wow factor wore off a while ago for many many people who play the end game. I do truly want this game to do well, but the community can't be the only ones who feel that way or it won't work.
  19. This is the only spec for PvE purposes. http://db.darthhater.com/skill_calc/sith_warrior/marauder/#::efefe4fe4fe5f4ef8efef15ef8 you'll be charging onto bosses for more rage gained so you want the 0 yd charge. You'll want enraged charge since you'll be want 4 rage every 12 sec instead of 3. DW mastery and the extra fury when attacked is very nice. You don't need ferocity, subjugation or seeping wound. The extra 30% speed in predation? you shouldn't be using predation in raids/operations except for specific situations. waste of two points. You won't be interrupting more than every 10 seconds, and obfuscate doesn't effect bosses anymore, waste of points. 6% crit for your dots and yellow damage from malice an ok place to put points, but when it comes to the last points in the tree you either choose 31/8/3 or 31/3/8... either get the 2 pts in enraged charge or get 2 pts in vicious strike crit. But malice deserves 3 of your talent points simply because you won't get any more pve effectiveness elsewhere. I do agree with the guy above me, if you could get the 3% accuracy then you could swap out pieces of accuracy gear but that's assuming you have optimized enhancements to do so. If you don't have at least 108% white accuracy for bosses, get the 3% accuracy in the carnage tree instead of malice. enjoy!
  20. Lol so that makes 6 dev posts about operatives and 2 troll dev posts about operatives. Fun times. The op's point is still valid. You devs simply deflect the question by repeating yourselves like broken records. The fact still remains that sorcs have incredible imbalances over operatives, and not just by a little. Lets talk double effectiveness, because that is the case. Whether it would be for dps or heals, pve or pvp purposes. Sure you could bring an operative if you wanted, but bringing a sorc would get the job done faster and more efficiently. I realize plans are in motion for 1.2 but the least you could do is say that... or something other than "stupid kid, can't you see that inquis =/= agent?" obviously we can see that, making you all the "stupids". It's insulting to get responses like this from the worst dev team ever. It's a wonder bioware still has any money... So how about real responses instead of mocking the community like a giant ******e. Oh wait ME3 just came out, that's right, so you won't go bankrupt til you try to put out your next game that's not a mass effect title, and then fail at developing it. Gj "Georg" with no e. # dev posts/replies to inquisitor/counselor boards = 78 # dev posts/replies to warrior/knight boards = 43 # dev posts/replies to bh/trooper boards = 52 # dev posts/replies to agent/smuggler boards = 6 + 2 troll The troll = GeorgZoeller
  21. I have no clue what pull you're talking about in EV, the only pulls that ever wiped us were the "keeper droids" that would lazer the target to death and knock people off the edge. Can't say my guilds ever had problems with a pack other than the "keeper droids" right before gruul. That aside, you should really just stop complaining about idiot people and go play tera or something. clearly you're just not having as good of a time as everyone else and feel the need to berate the game due to that fact. 1.2 will bring class balances across the board, no one truly knows what's fully coming yet except the devs. To the O.P.: i would get your operative to 50 man, i'm having a blast on mine. if you're good enough and want to get good enough then just keep at it. Get the flow down. As much as "wow boy" says players in this game needs to play it differently than wow in order to be "smart"(lol), you still need to think of an operative as a rogue with like 2 ranged abilities. Juggle the resolve bar in PvP to ensure you can lock someone down and think of TA stacks like combo points, only use your combo points when you're got a full stack. simple. If you don't like the feel, whatever, go play a different class. But don't be deceived into thinking that sorcs, BH's and operatives will remain at this level of balance that they are at this moment for much longer.
  22. Ok so i apoligize, i did some testing i'll show you my results to prove myself wrong. So i have 385 power on my marauder. i also have a 355 power trinket for 20 sec. And i have this 285 power stim boost for 15 sec lying around. So here we go... 385 power = +88.6 bonus damage (1/.23 power/damage ratio) After i pop the trinket i get... 740 power = +170.2 bonus damage (.23 ratio) And i pop the stim pack granting me... 1025 power = +235.8 bonus damage (.23 ratio) Sorry everyone, i owned myself. seems power is vastly superior than all that surge still... but i doubt there's enhancements that are crit/power or something.. idk i'll get back to this later.
  23. That, combined with the negligible amount of resolve each knockback adds... makes playing a marauder a $60 + $15/month game of pinball, from time to time... it's not always so bad but i just don't have the mobility to compensate for the amount of knockbacks everyone else has(and i don't have...). Should be two knockbacks an you're immune. 1 Knockback should fill 60% of your resolve bar, not 30%. Also, charge should give knockback immunity while you're mid-air and for 1 sec after impact. I hate getting pushed away as i'm flying towards my target, before i even connect, thanks to a sorc who's trying to get other people off him when i wasn't even there yet.
  24. Directed at the OP: I like just about everything you mention in this build except for you leaning on surge so hard. at 77.34 surge you've already hit the DR wall 2% ago. you could take off 100 surge and be at 76%. That being said, i feel you could value the cunning stat more on mods and save power for the enhancements (instead of overdoing your surge rating) to maximize things like your power stim and relic pops. Power starts to DR pretty severely around 600 so when you pop those stims/relics you are almost doubling your power but only getting a 100 or so more damage. Cunning starts to DR at much higher numbers so it's safer to get more of that stat. As for datacrons, operatives should be picking up the Aim stat datacrons as well, since it helps our white damage. And every little bit helps. Nice guide all in all, i'm glad to know where i need to rip my alternate enhancements from. assuming i don't get any from operations.
  25. why wouldn't you shiv immediately after hidden strike? unless you already had a stack of TA, but if you don't you absolutely want to shiv right after your opener, for 2 TA stacks.
