  1. The only thing that made me leave the game months ago (Before summer) was the lack of players, but now that has been resolved, and I have subbed again. The one thing that still isn't sitting right with me is chat bubbles, seriously why we do not have those in yet, surely it doesn't take a whole team to work on those?
  2. And what exactly are you doing to make these better forums? All people like you do is moan and moan, no matter what, for once, just once, why not try help make this a better community? Ah right, because it is a lot of hard work to be be constructive and positive, while shout "DOOM" and "ITS CRAP" it is easier.... so who is really being lazy here for not making an effort, BW or you?
  3. I am conflicted now about this choice. I made and played both characters a good while, and I see more potential in the RP for the smuggler, however, I already have a fully healer specced consular, and I would like to go full DPS with this new character, but I have been repeatedly told that I won't find any groups if I do that, and only if I have super-uber PvE equipment that I will have a chance to be taken in by groups. I find this rather sad, because I cannot play what I want, I have to play what the server wants, because if I do not, I get kicked and pushed aside, and now I am thinking to just go with Jedi guardian, at least tanks are sought after I would think.
  4. Yup seen than, but I thought I am not really "shy" so I was a bit uncertain weather or not to join up with them, maybe I could tour and see what's it like. Last I left a Jedi Consular at level 48 I think, but I wanted to either try a smuggler or a Jedi knight next, I will level them all the way out of the starting planets, then make a decision on which of the 2 to go for and let you know By the way, I was quite happy to see the planets alive with people again, I hope it will last this time!
  5. Hello everyone, I took a break for a few months from SWTOR, been playing other games and mmos, but then I felt a bit nostalgic with this game in general, I kind of missed the story progression, the art style and the sci-fi visuals, never been much of a SW fan or the autocombat system, but I rather play this than any other fantasy generic mmo right now. One main reason that made me leave in the past was the lack of me connecting to anyone on this server, in other mmos, I always managed to eventually make a few friends I would play/RP with, but here it felt all very close and exclusive, and people would turn their nose up at you if you did not belong to a guild or went to the right planets to RP. So, bottom line, the reason I stay in an mmo is for the people I meet, and play with, and if I am to stay here, I need to remedy to that, so your suggestions are welcomed, and please, suggest something other than "Join a guild", because in my days among "normal" people that wasn't necessary to make friends, although if you have the name of a good guild I will look it up too.
  6. Dude, I studied Latin 10 years ago plus I am Italian, which is 95% similar to Latin , not used any google. Anyhow, if you read what I said, it wasn't that I agreed on 1 update a year, I said, that technically "Regular" is a pretty free word, and it can mean, every hour, every day, or month, even years... unless they say "Every month regularly". So nobody lied on anything. Period.
  7. Pretty sure the word "regular" comes from latin "Regola" which stands for "Rule", and as a rule, they only need to update this "systematically", and it does not mean often.
  8. Thanks, I really appreciate the feedback. I just do not want to drown in a sea of skills I will never use, I prefer when I have more limited choices, but each choice matter. I think the BH is a bit harder to play than other classes I have played so far, but I hope it will get better later
  9. Well actually I did write it all in my post even if it wasn't the most clear
  10. I stole my ship last night, that is how far I am, but so far is millions times better than Jedi Consular (IMO). JC just bore the force out of me. I am now forceless....
  11. Hello everyone, my first class was a Jedi Consular as a healer, it was easy to enough to manage, I had half of my skills dedicated to healing, with obvious effect, and the other half to damage, simple. With the BH, I have picked the Tank/DPS role (I am now about level 16), and I have to say, I am very confused, is this class really spread out compared to the rest? I do not understand which skill should be used in which situation nor if the primary attack is useful anymore after you picked your specialization (For instance it becomes useless with the Consular). I have played DPS in other mmos, but I was never as confused as I am with the BH. Do I use flame weapons constantly? To I use Missiles instead? How can I tackle the quick heating problem that takes ages to come down while you are in combat? I do apologize as I do not remember the skill names, but here is a brief explanation on how I play it so far: So, if I do tackle with a group, I shoot the missile that builds up until it explodes at the toughest enemy in the group, damaging the others. After, I spam the basic missiles and basic shooting attack until they come close enough, at which point, if they are still together I flame them with the cone, or if there is only 1 I attack him with the melee punch, then spam the small flame until I overheat, at which point I just spam the basic attack until my heat goes down again. I occasionally use the beam weapon (The one when you can use only once activated by an enemy hit). But I feel weaker then my Consular which was completely specced for healing, so what am I doing wrong? Again, I apologies if I sound a bit dumb and the explanation is a bit messy.
  12. Great expectations and hyping games is what kills mmos in the first place. If you are going for a job interview you do not tell your friends you are going to get a job, you tell them nothing, and if you get it, great, if not, keep looking, but at least you did not disappoint yourself or them. This goes for all "miracle solver" patched, and mmos which supposedly should take over (Remember people saying that about AoC, then WAr, Rift, then SWTOR, and now Tera?). Do not think about it, do not hype it, just wait, if you like it, good! if not, then at least we will not have to suffer the whiners "I told you so" comments here.
  13. How can anyone pick on THAT, and not say anything about the lack of handguards? What stops 1 guy with a lgihtsaber from clashing it with his adversary, and then running it all the way down to the opponent's fingers? Nothing, there is no guard. A certain type of Japanese swords lack of hand guards, but that's because they are not used like light sabers, but with a fighting style of "hit and run" without that hollywood nonsense about 2 guys locking sword and looking into eachother's eyes.
  14. Not trying to antagonize anybody here, but I would not call SW a fantastic IP, maybe back in 70's, by today standards it has deteriorated quite a lot. When I watch SW, I feel like watching the muppets show with lightsabers in it, and the story has some beautful metaphors, but the scripted dialogues, are very poor, "I keel you, rawr, I am a funny alien!!" it is purely a nostalgic value nowadays. Ironically the new advert on TV with Yoda is actually much better animated and life-like than any other special effect int he whole saga.
  15. I wish I could put all the whine posts about having too much money and the whine posts about not having enough money all together, and magically having them even themselves out.
  16. I played and finished ME2 about 20+ times (Yes, I played this game more than any other game I have ever owned since the 80's) and the main story line does not last more than 10+ hours and 30+ hours with side quests, and it still was one of the greatest games I have played so... if you like the previous ME you will like the next one. If you want to play a game with 200+ hours of main story play there is a new RPG that is coming out soon (Which I will not mention here), written by R.A. Salvatore, the most overrated write in history after J Lucas, but personally I do not have the time to play a game with 200+ hours, as I play 1-2 hours a day, I rather put them toward a game I will see the ending at some point. Returning to the original OP discussion, personally, I will buy ME3, and yes it will take lots of the the limited time I have been putting aside SWTOR, but I am not leaving it either, I enjoy it and I want to contribute how I can to keep it alive.
  17. What you are asking there is £1 - £2 more a month of subscription costs... What do you mean "why"? Oh, do you think 100+ people will work as mods for free? riiiiiight...
  18. Yeah, this still happens, reason why I left WoW. Reason for winning because you have a better class than mine is a pvp breaker. And before anyone starts flaming, just keep in mind that FPS PVP games like Battlefield do it well, no matter what level or gear the other player has, you still have a chance to kill him, this is how PvP should be.
  19. I think that is a pretty valid point. I have never tried fighting naked, but I am sure this cannot be done, at least not without stressing and being very careful, and always getting near the edge of dying.
  20. I am level 42, and my companion has mostly greens, since I have been very unlucky with drops for him (Qyzen). I can do about 4-5 DPS casts before I have to switch to fully heal my companion, which takes about 4 casts (1 immediate shield, 1 channeling heal, 1 instant/overtime heal, and 1 fully maxed out heal), so I think that is a pretty good deal to me, enough not to need to upgrade him. I seriously doubt that other classes are harder than a healer to manage in PVE. But I am on a PVE server, so your point about needing the perfect geared companion on a pvp server where you will use it against player opposition is valid (Unlike on PVE servers that you never need him to be top notch because solo pve encounters ahve been matched by design to be easily overcome at your level, regardless of gear difference).
  21. I need to pick at this part myself: I can have my companion running almost naked, and have him tank any mobs that comes in our way, as long as I keep doing my part as a healer and CCer. Companion loot is certainly not needed in order to play/complete the game.
  22. Exactly my point, that is why the need/greed works perfectly. Greed is there as the world says, to make you profit without caring, but if everyone rolls greed, then we are in the same boat and there is nothing to feel guilty about. I never need on companions because I think that is cheap, and I do not even ask, because at level 50, you can loot "need" on everything because all of your companions can wear from light, to heavy armour, and most available weapons.
  23. Huge plot hole there: What if you go for pass because it is a class item that will work on a party member, but this person actually do not really need it, because he is already wearing something better? Why is he entitled to sponge on top of an item he is going to sell and I have to pass on it? We should both have the same chances at getting it, after all we share loot money equally, and an item that is going to be sold is only loot money. You see, I am not greedy, I like to share, but with this system I am compelled to roll always, because I am afraid of missing out, the need button makes sure I am not stealing from someone else.
  24. By that logic people will always, and only go for "roll", at least I would, defeating the purpose of who really needs that item (People do not want to miss out if everybody can have a shot at it, it is human nature). This has caused more animosity in the past than good. Do not nitpick at every word I say, English is not my first language, expressions varies depending on the culture you are from, if I wrote that at the end is because I meant it, and not as a ticket to get away with anything I previously said.
  25. They did that when Lord of the Rings online came out, it was awful, way more fights than you see people here, luckily they changes it shortly after, roll/pass makes no sense: How are you meant to know when to pass and when to roll? You need it? so you go "roll" - ok, that is simple You do not need it, What do you do? - If you roll, someone else might NEED that item, and because of your selfishness they have to miss out, and if you pass, it might be that everybody does the same so the item remains on the floor, and that is just as stupid since at least you can profit from it by selling it to other players. As for companion rolls I do not believe we need those either, you should not roll for companions simply because every class gets a companion that can wear all the equipment in game by the time you reach 50, so by this logic you should "need" on everything because at least 1 of your companions will use it. And when it comes down to party members, it is true you should not roll need for an item that does not belong to your class, because if it gives lots of strength while you only need Willpower, then it's a pure waste, however, I have done that a few times because the item would boost every other single attribute by +20, except my main one, so although not 100% efficient, is still 10 times better than what I was wearing, so a "need" it is fair. Just opinions.
