  1. Starting with the fixing of the now, Mythbusters showed us you can polish a turd, however, your lift with a shiny turd. Throwing things at illum and hoping it magically gets better isnt going to MAKE it get better. The place is, like i said and other agree, flawed. Making a short term fix may bring some people back to it but its not going to have the same effect that other more open world pvp areas would have. Lets look at a fine example of open world rvr at daoc. Yes i know we are short one whole faction. But that game had massive zergs and population imbalances (where the third realm would spoil in most cases) But the main thing was the re spawn location was impenetrable and there were only re spawn locations at the border keeps. None of this half way across the field crap. If you wanted to get back to the fight you ran (or later teleported) to the closest location you could to get then you ran there. Siege a keep and were either defeated and repelled or succeed and killed everyone inside. Illum is tiny by comparison and the objectives have no inherent value to them. Thus we all just funnel to wherever the fighting is at that moment and sit there aoeing each other in a stale mate of boredom (at least we did on Jung MA). Having a larger map with locations guild can invest credits in (because we have soo many uses for credits) makes people want to defend those locations. People have a vested interest when they attach there name to it. E-Prestige and all that. So we have better focal points of battle. Next we dont have spawn points throught out the zone. We move spawn points to the back to the Bases of Imperial and Republic operations. Making rezzing and surviving more important than straight zerging. Population imbalance is something that is hard to work around. But its not that hard to tactically outwit when people dont just throw them selves at the larger mass. Smaller groups are more mobile and can be more annoying allowing for smart groups to go places in a larger world to distract while the main force hits them from behind or attacks the stragglers. I mean larger forces have lost to smaller ones since wars began. TL;DR Bigger zone, Objectives that people will fight over, Less re spawns/more travel time and tactics.
  2. I mean it was pretty obvious where people were going to roll at the start. People have been saying this on and off since the pre launch (though some were saying dont worry for whatever reason). While we may see some i dont think well see a large influx of people swapping sides. Ive tried but those quests are just so bland and the dialog short of some of the smart-*** quips of the smuggler is just not interesting.

    Rollback?

Pissing off who? People that sat in the base and farmed anyone that came in? The patch was live in the morning the major people it would have hurt is maybe eruos. IF it was an exploit as opposed to bad design (which i belive it was bad design) a roll back would be the thing to do. It would piss people off but it would prob only piss off the people who abused the problem. You piss people off no matter what in an mmo so you better to piss off less people than more. Clearly we only know how the outcome of no roll back turned out.

    Valor farming 101

Where's that third faction to come in and clean up this mess .. oh wait.

    Rollback?

It would have been a good idea 6 hours after the patch came out It is no longer a good idea 2 days after the patch came out.
  6. Timed pvp isnt going to fix the problem any more than it did in wow. The problem is the place is fundamentally flawed from the ground up. Pvp there is not about capturing anything it is about standing in one spot to shoot a missile that takes 10 sec to cast. Having a timed pvp event there would only detract from the whole place even more making unbalanced servers more of a mess. The major way to fix it is to scrap this whole playground idea and instead MAKE A WHOLE PLANET a pvp zone. Not one dinky section of whatever is coming out. Make capture and hold towns that guilds can claim and upgrade. Make it feel like a war is going on with people fighting for resources which can help them craft better or do more damage or what have you. Just saying ok here's 400% more valor is not a fix.
  7. You do realize that a majority of POPULAR specs have dispel for poison and bleeds? No matter how good lethality hypothetically is, its major damage source is removed with the click of a button.
  8. Not to be that guy that compares but. They said that in most wow expansions that they want to bring the War back to Warcraft. They have yet to bring back the War...
  9. I dont know what kind of sustained damage you do to any kind of geared target but giving up half an energy pool for an opener and saying oh its balanced cause you have a 2 min CD is pretty awful. Then it becomes an arm race of CD balancing as opposed to balancing the class itself. WoW rogues suffered forever from the CD balancing.
  10. IMO people over value 3% increased damage to poisoned target in pvp. While you will eek out slightly higher damage against a posioned target our burst is very high. Cullling on a 4k crit (unless i math wrong) is about 120 extra damage. Now in PvE when you know that you will have a posion up as much as possible it is a talent you would take. In pvp there are other talents you can get that would be a better investment of your points. Like i said earlier Stealth detection is really a great talent. I also think that people under value Incisive Action talent (T1 Med). This ability is a TA on a 2 sec cast which also heals. I mean there are times when you are behind a pillar and need a heal and this will give you both TA and a heal. Being able to start a fight full energy with Stim boost before you attacked one person is amazing. Not to mention the heal on stim boost.
  11. Dont forget Onyixa Deeps breaths more too.
  12. Pretty much this and support. Without support you have to pick your targets better to make sure you use that stealth advantage. Or have supreme confidence in your abilities (and CDS).
  13. Acid blade dot damage is 6 sec. The buff it self last longer. The only time it clips is the first tick since shiv will give you 2 stacks TA increasing damage (not by much) but thats when i BS -> Stim -> Lacerate
  14. If you're going concealment and NOT taking acid blade, you shouldnt spec concealment at all. That is THE MOVE that makes the entire tree worth going down. Without that you lose a tremendous damage opportunity. Couple of things to think about. 1) The stun speed bost isnt going to be that great most of the time as your target is going to have a full reslove bar after you open. So using it for a speed boost isnt as efficient as just throwing a Sever tendon root on people (which bypasses resolve) 2) Personal prefrence on HP talent but, the chances that the extra HP is going to help you is not that high tbh. Consider that Assassins and shadows need to spec tank to get their stealth detection boost means you will have the drop on them. That is the difference between an Opener and being caught out.
  15. A solid first step. I hope we will see other Trades advance a bit with items for them like Biochem and Cybertech.
  16. Wow had a pretty solid crafter end game at the start when MC was still not being run yet. Of course as things like ZG came alch and enchanting became the better end game trades. Other skills still had some use like cooking and armor crafts (see resist gear) Bag and raw mats. Biochem doesnt need to farm mats unless people want to sell pots to those that have not taken bichem.
  17. I would argue that while you may see a small bump in sales that many people have found or will re acquire items that they liked the look of. After that youre selling them something that in the end they are NOT going to change. Unlike mods, which would be the primary source of cash from trades. However, if players could make said mods and sell them to other players as opposed to them dropping or being traded for commendations. In the end bichem still becomes better as the items you create will either be needed by other players or you will just use it for the top end buffs it gives.
  18. Except for the part it didnt say that they were going to have crafting have higher level goods as much as it was you can remove high items to be placed into an item of your choice.

    DAoC 2

    Classic server died in dev.
  20. Hmm its like weapon damage is based on weapons...
  21. Because those games are built in such a way as to give rewards based on that play style. A game like eve is open world pvp and seeming to be doing quite well (see profitable). DAoC did very well at the time until they killed it. Wow had plenty of open world pvp beside SS TM before they added BGs.
  22. I dont see the problem as any person in a world first guild would have required all his raid members to be bichem by now.
  23. What i was saying and didnt convey is that you dont see videos of average Ops doing damage and getting killed because people dont post that. They post decently to well geared ops with buffs.
