  1. So, OP, is your point that games used to really suck badly? If you had a different point to make, you should really pick better examples.
  2. None of the servers have naming restrictions. What do you think this thread is about?
  3. They took three different functions that are useful to have in a MMO and jammed them together in a clumsy and haphazard fashion. Instead of doing one thing well, they instead thought it wise to do three things poorly. Pretty much nails down the entire design philosophy of this game.
  4. Only if you are absolutely misinformed about how the game works in every way imaginable.
  5. I did take a stand. I'm pro empire, but anti the excessive influence of the stupid sith force users. No waffling involved.
  6. "Normally" is a loaded, yet meaningless, word in this context.
  7. Just because the majority of the people don't post doesn't mean they agree with you.
  8. Some of us may use the full range of ratings instead of emulating gaming sites that seem to think 7-9.9 is a broad enough range to cover all games ever.
  9. That's the nickname I've seen most people have come up with for the speeders. They (the special edition free ones) even look sorta like segways.
  10. Yea, score one point for Mass Effect - no raid content.
  11. Yea, in ESB, it was an industrial process that had nothing to do with transporting people. Fett didn't even know that Solo would survive - he confronted Vader about it. They wanted a CC ability in the game and picked something people would recognize with no thought given to the lore.
  12. But then you reach max level and it does nothing. Money inflation in the game is mainly due to max level people making money and having nothing to spend it on, not on people leveling up. Equipment damage is a good money sink. It continues to affect people not matter their level. Training costs are stupid. You could just lower the drop rate of money if leveling inflation is a problem.
  13. It was a stupid mechanic in KOTOR and it's inexcusable in a game where you compete with other people.
  14. This is a forum for discussing this game. If you come here to discuss real world problems then you are at the wrong place. To complain about people discussing trivial things at a place that exists solely to discuss trivial things is stupid.
  15. Same reason there's no mailbox. No, I don't know what that reason is, but they have to be related.
  16. Spend the night crafting and have 5 new armor mods today, how do I go about slotting them. C to bring up character screen ctrl-right click to mod, which opens the mod screen and the inventory screen - which closes my character screen for no good reason now for next piece, I need to open the character screen again, even though I never closed it and never wanted to closed Same thing when looking for schematics in the market. I can't view the recipes I already have at the same time as the market, because opening the recipe inventory involves first going through the "N" crew screen - and having more than 2 screens open would mean that the dark side wins. Maybe I buy something and immediately want to equip it. Well, first I have to reopen my inventory, because it was closed when I closed the store screen - again for no reason. Those are just the annoying little parts, but then you have the stuff that will get you killed. I'm in a combat and suddenly my companion needs to be healed. Now, with a better UI, I would be able to set a key to select my companion. But no, here I have to hit F1 twice. And I better hope it recognizes both presses, because the display of the change lags by 2 seconds, so if look down and see my picture still it might mean that I need to hit the button again to select my companion OR it might mean that it just hasn't updated and hitting that button again will toggle back to me and I end up healing the wrong person. And in a group it gets better. First we have no way to quickly select a groupmate's companion in a 2-3 man group. But better yet, the hot keys to select group members change depending on what order you were invited into the group. F1,F2,F3,F4 for the sensible people who understand the complex and new idea of sequential order. But F2,F1,F3,F4 OR F2,F3,F1,F4 OR F2,F3,F4,F1 are also equally possible and exactly the kind of thing I need to have to think about in the half second that guy has to live. And it's even better if you get used to the current order and then someone leaves the group. Why not just scramble my keymapping occasionally to keep it extra exciting? It makes about as much sense as having "W" occasionally make me turn left.
  17. You do realize that example proves the exact opposite of the point you were trying to make?
  18. I cannot think of a single way this game is superior to Mass Effect.
  19. "Better" is a word that makes a comparison. It is not possible for something to be "better" from an objective standpoint. That's not how the word works.
  20. I can barely log in and zone the 5 times it takes to go from one planet to another in 15 minutes. This one is a matter of perspective. I come from City of Heroes where I look exactly like I want to look starting at level 1. Whether modable gear is good or not depends on what you are comparing it to. One of my friends said that Tatooine was his favorite planet. My next comment was that I hated it. My reasons were mainly based on it being the first post 25 planet that was obviously designed to make you hurt if you hadn't sprung for the speeder license yet - large unoccupied areas, lots of running back and forth instead of sensibly updated mission goals, and unrelated to those, the number of times I spent running between 2-3 spawns of specific needed things waiting for respawn. His reason "Tatooine has been my favorite since 1977". Pardon me if I find it sort of silly to judge a game based on something 35 years old done by people not related to the game instead of on the content of the game itself.
  21. Crafted gear is only better for leveling if you exhaust every mission on every planet. Crafted is only "better" because it's identical, but not outleveled like most of the commendation gear is when you get it. Skip some missions and go to the next planet when you hit the appropriate level, and commendation stuff will be better than anything you can craft unless you have someone feeding you money to at least 3 different crafters to make purple level stuff.
  22. Well, all classes can be human, so they are naturally going to be more common. Then most classes (only 2 exceptions, I think) can also be cyborg, which are functionally indistinguishable from humans once you get armor on them. So, even if people were choosing completely randomly, most characters you see would be human.
  23. I, sort of, qualify. I'm playing in a static group with my friends, so I've done the group content. But I don't normally view the general chat tab. I would prefer this game in every way if it were a single player with multi-player network support. MMO adds nothing but a revenue stream to the company. The effect on game quality is a net negative.
