  1. How many of those obvious failure MMOs are shut down now? Let's try a little analogy. How many people went shopping on Black Friday? How many waited in line to pay or drove around looking for a parking space? Now, even though the stores knew that would happen, how many stores bought the property next door and renovated to put in 30 more registers and 300 more parking spaces? Why wouldn't they do that? I mean, god, they knew it was going to happen, so why not be prepared? I'm pissed, damnit. You don't spend big money and make long term changes to fix a temporary problem. In normal world terms, this week is the biggest shopping day(s) of the year for this MMO, and the resources they allocate to each server need to be based on what they will need for the vast majority of the life of the game, and not for an extreme aberration that will only happen once.
  2. Most of the people playing didn't play in beta. The assumption that people should somehow know this is stupid.
  3. You guys realize that he could have just tag-teamed with a guildmate by sharing his PW and done it easily. That is one of the many things that make this type of "accomplishment" meaningless.
  4. Make what happen? There is nothing that can happen to fix this without also risking the longterm health of the game.
  5. This isn't a failure of testing. This is exactly what anyone who stopped to think about it for 5 minutes knew would happen. You don't run a successful business by wasting huge amounts of money, and that is exactly what buying 5X as many servers as you will eventually need to accommodate one busy week is - a waste of money. Come up with a solution that doesn't involve the company flushing tens of millions of dollars down the toilet and every MMO company in the world will beat a path to your door, but don't make demands with "throw more money at it" as the only viable solution.
  6. Brilliant idea. Absolutely no one would complain if they lost their character names in a transfer and it doesn't cause your stock prices to drop like a rock either. Basic pattern recognition and the ability to learn from past experiences.
  7. If there are not queues on a server during prime time for pre-launch and launch week, then there will be server merges within 3 months. Seriously. 75% of the people on the servers now will no longer be playing by February, so unless they have some magical way to make the servers handle 4X as many people temporarily, then queues are inevitable.
  8. Sorry, needed to modify your statement a bit.
  9. Most of the people in this thread seem to have only played WoW. There are many different types f healing in games, and not all of them are carbon copies of one another. Some games have secondary heal/buff targets that you can have targeted simultaneously with an attack target. Other games have the majority of healing performed by area heals that happen either around the healer, or around a targeted enemy. There are plenty of games that allow or even necessitate healing that is more than bar watching. The fact that people can attack the OP for not liking the particular, antiquated way that healing is implemented in this game as if that automatically means he has no experience healing only indicates that they, themselves, have no experience outside of a very few games.
  10. If I go to a restaurant where the employees don't wear paper hats, we all sit down together and get our food at the same time no matter who orders first.
  11. Yes, and it's filling me with disgust for humanity, but it's not the "whiners" who are having that effect. A lot of people need to pause for a second and think "would I say this to my mother" and if they answer is "no", they should hit that cancel button on their posts.
  12. Well, having read several people responding, the popular answer obviously isn't going to be "use to time to review the poor lifestyle choices that lead me to believe that typing the letter q twice was a proper way to communicate with other human beings."
  13. Well, the correct thing that should happen is that people should avoid designing games that set up this type of situation. It's not like this is a new thing that no one has ever seen before.
