  1. I've spent 2-3 minutes sitting at a turret in Alderaan doing nothing except getting Defender points. So it should kick me for covering a node that the other team just doesn't decide to attack? So I should be forced to leave the node open to be taken without a fight just to keep from being kicked?
  2. I'm going to have to add my voice for individual server forums. What you have is better than at the start but it really is a half measure solution to what players want. We don't have interserver grouping or PVP so multi-server forums are pretty useless. If servers were organized in groups that had cross server play BioWare should still have individual server sub-forums. Have the "server group" forum and then server forum. I've seen it said that the reason is that there are "too many" servers and that moderation costs are an issue. Well perhaps BioWare was a little too ambitious in its roll out as I have talked to at least 5 people who have re-rolled because their server was "dead". I know in this industry server consolidation so soon after launch is seen as a sign of failure and the doomsayers will crow that the game is dying but I really think these light population servers should be consolidated. That would cut costs and reduce the number of mods needed.
  3. Don't know what you're talking about. My Artificer is Dark III and I modded a Vibroblade with a blue crystal in it for Khem. Upgraded the Hilt and Enchancement, didn't have a better crystal at the time.
  4. Dude, its a few hours. Re-roll. It will even go faster now that you know where everything is.
  5. Normal. Some people just won't like the game.
  6. Of course not, it's an MMO and MMOs are never finished until they shut the last server down. Old MMOs never die they just go free to play.
  7. I will, but I only have so much time. I'm not saying the stories are absolutely terrible either, I'm just saying the starter world storyline for Imperial classes just seem to grab and hold you. Part of it is that with the possible exception of the Agent the Imperials are pretty much out for themselves, where Republic players are more part of the "greater good" so the faction has to grab you as well as your own personal story.
  8. IMO because the story (what I've seen so far) makes the Republic/Jedi out to be douchebags and not really great heroes. I've seen Trooper & Jedi Knight up to the where you go to the Fleet and all 4 Imperial to at least that far. I felt more like joining the seperatists on Ord Mantell than the Republic. However I will admidt the military and governments of both sides is portrayed rather negatively in my experience so far. Imperial you're expected to be cruel, heartless, corrupt, and manipulative. Through out Ord Mantell the Republic is portrayed like they are inept, corrupt, and uncaring. All except you...maybe. Jedi are portrayed as weak, uncaring, and unsympathetic. I can't really say too much without getting into spoilers. Granted not all Jedi are warriors/fighters and they explicitly state that where Sith is all about the strong survive. I also understand that the Republic/Jedi Order is the underdog at this point and are struggling with resources and personal. I also get what BioWare's writers were trying to do with each story but it was better saved for later on in the story. The Republic cinematic leaves you feeling kind of gung-ho to play Republic, even the Imperial cinematic gives them a good showing. That feeling kind of faded after Ord Mantell and Tython storylines. I would have had them facing completely external threats, for the Trooper I would have had them start on an embattled planet, similar to Ord Mantell but against Imperial forces and overwhelming odds. Make the player fall in love with the Republic, save the internal "ugly underbelly" stuff for later. For the Jedi Knight, some stuff works other stuff doesn't. The fact that actual Jedi Knights/Masters are stretched thin is stated several times yet you still have random Jedi Masters standing around doing basically nothing but waiting to give you a quest. With all the stuff going on that could use a full fledged Jedi what are they doing standing around or going about some trivial task? I mean you show up to a village and they are all happy to see you, a mere novice, because all this bad stuff is happening yet there is a actual Jedi in the village (who later gives you a quest) yet he allows all this bad stuff to happen and leaves it to a Padawan to fix. Not real endearing to the Order.
  9. L2P. That's all you deserve if you have trouble killing a healer 2 vs. 1, or even 1 vs. 1 really. It also sounds like you got rolled by a premade or two. It happens.
  10. You do realize that there are plenty of matching sets of gear out there right? Quite a few are moddable so you can make them current once you hit 50. Forget about the greens, you'll be vendoring them in a couple levels anyway. Run a FP or collect the gear from quests on a planet, most have a gear set associated with them.
  11. Played WoW and Disagree strongly. You see you're comparing apples to oranges. WoW gets to convieniently copy all of its guards under armor and most of the current city content occured AFTER Cataclysm. Most cities in WoW were barren wastelands prior to Cata. Models are very heavily re-used all over WoW. I see more stuff going on in SWTOR than WoW. Conversations, firefights, people working on things, etc. The real issues is that in SWTOR you get a close up a lot of NPCs, WoW (and other MMOs) they are just there with a ! over their head and you get a text window pop up that may or may not focus your attention. Most people never even see thier facial details so nobody notices that Quest Giver #2376 looks just like Quest Giver # 129 with a different color robe. SWTOR on the other hand you get a good look at the character model, and you're going to get repetition. An example, the guy that keeps testing you for Combat Leadership at hte Jedi Temple on Tython looks just like the Overseer in the Sith Warrior storyline with a lighter skin color and slightly different complexion. This happens when you have NPCs based on the character generation tool. You have 4 body types, (guessing from here out since I can't open my game and count them)say 15 heads, 20 scar patterns, 35 complexions, 3-6 eye colors, etc. With literally thousands of NPCs you're going to get repetition. Its just much more obvious in this game, despite using options not in the caracter creation screen like certain aging options. Edit: Granted with storyline and major quest givers they should have tried to make them a little more unique but developement has limited funds. However would you like every NPC to look unique or would you rather have some Ops to run once you hit 50? Comparing WoW's Cataclysm release to an intial MMO release is apples and oranges.
  12. Why do banks charge anywhere from $5 to 5% to cash a check drawn on an account at their bank when you don't have an account with them? Because they can. Laws also change, in the quest to squeeze more money from their citizens nations have begun to look to taxes levied on internet based transactions, entertainment, etc. When was the last time you suscribed to WoW?
  13. Wait... Are you paying other MMOs in your native currency or are you paying in Euros? Also maybe Lucas doesn't like the Swiss so he cahrging more for his intellectual properties there....
  14. Either one of two things: 1) Exchange rate and the bank/company Bioware uses to process the currency exchange. 2) Taxes applied by your nation's government.
  15. Not exaclty true. Your DoT might kill a low health attacker that is not getting heals, same for Force Lightning. Killing that low health attacker eliminates their DPS and your need to heal that damage. Stuns, slows, and knock backs can also help someone survive, you have a pretty large toolkit learn to use all of it. I average 5-6 medals a game healing and am usually the top healer or in the top 3 and not behind the top by much.
  16. Well there was this one time in a bar in Tiajuana...but then I got sober and dumped her fast.
  17. What kind of bonus or perks? The class balance thing...ugh. There is the "lore" aspect where they did it correct vs. the gameplay thing of "I want exactly what he's got". That is kind of the point of the whole light vs. darkside thing though, Jedi don't have the same exact abilites Sith have. Sith abilies are supposed to be more powerful offensively while Jedi are supposed to be more powerful defensively. But that is a whole new can of worms...
  18. Despite the fact thet I did see the movie in the theater, I've seen it many a time since then in the comfort of my own home with the internet and Google close at hand.
  19. Can't pull my man card for that. Here's why. Tombstone ::Kate sits on Doc Holiday's lap:: Holiday: "Kate, you're not wearing a bustle..."(Holiday looks at his fellow card players) "How lewd." So I'm sitting there going "*** is a bustle?" so I Googled it.
  20. I'm still trying to figure out why my Jedi is wearing a bustle... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bustle
  21. First, you probably didn't actually read my post if you're responding to me. Second, that's actually probably the one equatable solution that doesn't take away customer choice or give someone more for their $15 than others. I don't see them implementing it soon though as you don't get to play though the Republic story and that is a big part of the game. I like it though.
  22. You can't refute what I actually said, the part about a "running audit of players in all zones for a minimum of 2 weeks", so you toss out a thinly veiled personal attack. GIGO. Random people taking snapshots here and there are still going to be inaccurate. Just like the guy that did a who at 8:00am on a work day after winter break was over for the kids and claimed this as proof positive that SWTOR was dead on the forums.
  23. I like this guy's philosophy. Republic just has a target rich environment.
