  1. http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=424588 There's on for you buddy.
  2. I vote for the player I think contributed the most. The player that got the clutch score in Huttball, for example. The player in VS that stayed on the door that was getting no action so took the medal hit or the good of the WZ. After that I look for heals of 100k or more (sub 50 brackets) since often healers get overlooked for their contributions and often end up with a target marker on their heads. Then I sort through the scores taking into consideration familiar names who I know play well and to win. If no heals and no familar faces I look at objectives, kills, and damage. High kills & damage but low objectives I'll look at the next player for a more balanced score.
  3. Ahhh no. So you're saying if you go to McDonald's and they serve you an over cooked burger with dirt on it you should just eat it cause you went to Mcdonald's and you should already know fast food is generally crappy in the first place? That's the logic you're using. Sorry man I'll get my money back and hit the Bojangles down the street. Second, while a 4 man premade can generally roll over most PuGs, I've been in good PuGs that have beaten those 4 man premades because the other 4 people were running around like chickens with their heads cut off accomplishing absolutely nothing. Four scrubs can offset a 4 man premade, so when I can queue with 8 we'll revist this topic. I've no need for anyone to carry me, I'm almost always in top 3 damage, kills, medals, and usually get MVP votes. Usually the people that out medal me are tanks because I can't get the protection medals as a DPS AC. I've seen quite a few matches start 4 vs 8 and continue that way since 1.2 and there are threads about it. Stop lying.
  4. I concur whole heartedly. If the people crying for a deserter debuff put as much effort into learning the WZs and gearing up there'd be fewer who bail on them. Then you have the people who join with premades all the time and want easy kills for farming purposes.
  5. With all the "penalize deserters" threads flying around I think we need to establish a few things in this discussion. 1) Losing and being rap-- er, Farmed are very different things. Playing a good or even decent match that is a loss can be fun. Getting farmed is not fun for the farmee, and IMO it gets boring after a bit for the farmer too. The player that bails as soon as they realize they aren't on the Farmer team in a farming match...well I've got no love for them either. 2) There is a difference between playing with players who are playing to win and players who are not. Most people will not bail on a match if the team is playing to win. I and many other will chose not to waste my time on those who are not playing to win. Playing to win doesn't always mean winning, it means making an honest effort. 3) Bad players. IMO bad players are not the fresh 50 with the starter level 50 PVP set, they are the 50 that is still wearing all level 35 gear. I don't care if someone is bad at PVP as long as they are doing the right things to win in the WZ, calling out Incs, staying on D when others leave, knocking players out of position to score or off our BC in Huttball, getting open, passing, hitting cappers, etc. There are many things that don't take any real "skill" in WZs to be an effective and contributing team player. All you need to do is put a little effort into it, make sure you have some decent gear, learn what to do and not to do in each WZ. Sadly many people don't even try to do this and these are the bad players, the window lickers, those worthy of contempt for wasting other players time. There are also "bad players" that are quite good at the button mashing aspects of PVP, some may not be and play FotM classes. These players will often have high kills and damage, but its for their own self gratification and aggrandizement. "look at my awesome scorez!!" Yet they contributed very little to the team effort because they were chasing kills all over the maps and ignoring the objectives. So now back to that discussion about penalties for leaving a WZ.
  6. Fixed that for you. Its really not worth playing with the same bad players who won't guard turrets, won't call out inc, ignore healers despite the big target marker, run around chasing kills while the enemy Huttball carrirer runs past to score over and over again, chases the kill while ignoring the guy planting the bomb or capping the turret. I leave matches where we're being farmed and where the majority of ther team doesn't play to win. If you don't like it well then in the immortal words of Sean Connery..."Suck it Trebeck!"
  7. Make a timer so that the hutball has to pass the center line or it explodes, that way it breaks up the turtle some. another tthing would be a rank/commendation loss if one team posseses the ball behind the centerline for more than X minutes.
  8. Wrong game dude. WoW servers are -----> Try Melee Wars, Star Melee, Star Wars: The Melee Republic or something.
  9. Man when I D/C out I can never get back into a match. My issues cleared up with 1.2, came back with 1.2.0b, and seem to have gone away again with 1.2.0c ::knocks on wood::
  10. Doesn't really matter to me, I'll still bail on a farm match. 1) Being farmed is not fun. 2) You don't get many medals being farmed, so the time spent is not worth the reward. I'd rather spend that 15 minutes in a competative match, win or lose, and I'll earn more commendations.
  11. There are too many people who cannot be bothered to learn to play the WZs correctly or just don't bother to try to do so. That is "impacting my fun", so because I pay for my play time I have the right to choose whether or not I'm going to spend it with people who aren't concerned with playing to win. Note I said "play to win" not winning. Why should I stick around for those players who are wasting my time? Currently the queue system is broken, and I stuck around at first but 95% of the time the disadvantage of starting a match down 4 or 5 players cannot be overcome. I generally won't leave on the first Huttball score, unless it happens in the first 30 seconds and my team was off fighting random players and no where near the BC, even then I'll usually give it until 2 points, if the second score occurs in under a minute from the first I'm gone. I just love the sanctimonious jerks who say "I don't care if I win, I'm here for fun." while the team is getting farmed. It’s not, and anyone who says differently is a liar or a masochist. I PVP because it is fun, it is fun because of the competitive nature of going against another person rather than the predictable AI. Note competitive, farming or being farmed is not competitive. I've had losses that the match was so close and hard fought that I was smiling at the end despite the loss. The opposing team earned those wins, that is quality PVP. Fun can be had win or lose, its the nature of the match that matters. Win or lose I stay for quality PVP. Farming? I'll stay if we are the farmers, not if we are the farmees, even then it is like drinking light beer...not very satisfying.
  12. Yep. There are too many ignorant, selfish people who cannot be bothered to learn to play the WZs correctly or just don't bother to try to do so. That is "impacting my fun", so because I pay for my play time I have the right to choose whether or not I'm going to spend it with people who aren't concerned with playing to win. I just love the sanctimonious jerks who say "I don't care if I win, I'm here for fun." while the team is getting farmed. I have to ask them if they go to prison showers and deliberately drop the soap for the fun of it too because they are claiming getting rap...er farmed is fun. It’s not, and anyone who says differently is a liar or a masochist. I PVP because it is fun, it is fun because of the competitive nature of going against another person rather than the predictable AI. Note competitive, farming or being farmed is not competitive. 13. Not completely toss them on Stealthers to knock them out of vanish. Also tab around and spread Affliction.
  14. Basically what I've seen lately from the Imps is either mostly Assassin Teams or mostly Marauders and its a farmfest when it happens. Especially since its usually a premade of 4 Marauders or Assassins so they all are focusing the same targets. Nobody lives more than 3 seconds.
  15. Thanks, glad to know I stimulated someone's brain.
  16. Actually yes, everyone should be like me. Which means they should be able to deduce the objectives of each WZ, especially since BioWare was nice enough to explain them right on the load screen. Also, anyone of average intelligence should be able to figure out the best ways to achieve those objectives. Especially when often enough people explain them in as small of words as possible at the start of the match. Currently my main is in the sub-50 bracket so I don't give a flying fig about "under geared" players. So if said person cannot figure those objectives out after having them explained, or they just don't care to, they have earned their disparaging monikers and the contempt of their peers. As for "newbies", most just have to ask and I believe many of us will be happy to enlighten them after the match or even during if things are slow like guarding a turret. Having more players who know how to be effective is a good thing, even if they may not be that great at PVP itself. After one match I had someone do just that after seeing I earned the most medals, had the highest damage, and the most MVP votes. I spent the next half hour or so explaining the 3 WZs and how to be an effective contributor even at low levels. That's one nice thing about same server PVP, you get to know when a match is going to be good or not by who your teammates are.
  17. Most PVPers I talk to love PVP for the sake of PVP. Most would love to have open world PVP just for the sake of PVP, is the gear grind all you PVP for? And TBH most of what I see called "art" these days could be done by a messy 4 year old who got into the left over paint.
  18. Not really, if you look at the ladder for Win Loss in WoW most of the teams have a geared FotM classes & comps and a .5 W/L ratio. Most people quit after they get X rank to get Y gear and then either swap an Alt into the team or sell a spot to someone willing to pay gold for the title/gear.
  19. Actually they reduced this to 1, and sadly I have been in matches where I stayed for a few extra VP to get my next piece of lvl 40 gear for my Commando and ended up with 0 rewards despite my efforts due to the 3 medal rule. On a team of window lickers competence stands out and gets you focused. Literally as soon as I got near the enemy I got focused, they even switched targets so that I died in like 3 seconds. Additionally when its 3-4 vs. 8 its not a target rich environment for the enemy so you tend to end up focused there too. You won't earn many medals spending most of your time in the spawning area. After this I made sure I left because the rewards we're worth the wasted time and frustration.
  20. I have to disagree, why then would character customization items like dyes and transmogrification (from that other game), etc. be so popular? If it wasn't then why not just increase stats & have all gear make you look like the robot in the Day the Earth Stood Still and devote those resources elsewhere?
  21. I think what they did with VS was a step in the right direction personally. If you spend a futile attck round in the first room you don't have to wait until they reach the end for the match to end. It ends as soon as they reach an objective further than yours.
  22. I'm not sure I understand your logic here. People leaving a WZ because they don't want to get farmed due to a severe disparity in numbers between the two teams or ending up with a bunch of mouth breathers who ignore the match's objective and just run around chasing kills are not "hardcore-pvpers"? So by what you said "hardcore-pvpers" would bend over and grab their ankles and take it? They wouldn't leave the match no matter what? I think you're quite wrong. The people who are "hardcore" or even "softcore" (they like to PVP but you never see the naughty bits) PVPers don't want to waste their play time getting farmed. Most people who like to PVP will stay win or lose if its a good match, but won't stay to get farmed.
  23. Sooooo true. I'll add two more: Titanic 3D
  24. I know what you mean about people leaving as soon as they realize that their team will not be crushing the other team, however there is another problem with this game that I am not fond of. Lots of people have issues D/C'ing in this game I was having them badly prior to 1.2, post 1.2 they were fine, now they are back after 1.2.0b. It really sucks to disconnect from the game and not be able to come back to the WZ. Other games you still have a short window to get back in, this one doesn't. Adding a debuff for this would really suck.
  25. Dude I don't consider myself a HC PVPer but I do enjoy it quite a bit and I feel this way. I'm even one of the helpful folks that trys to explain stuff before the match starts. What I usally get is some window licker (thanks to the other guy who used that term) who smarts off and that same window licker performs poorly. If the team ignores my advice we usually get rolled, if they follow it its not always a win but at least its not a curb stomping. I'm just really happy they finally let everyone mark, I was getting tired of telling the leader to mark healers and such.
