  1. Actually if they implemented a Handicap system in the form of Expertise attached to a players PVP ranking they could still offer the "carrots" in the form of new gear. Give the new gear a different look, maybe increase physicals stats but have the increase be set to be offset by a similar increase in lower ranked players expertise. So for example if you increase the top tier PVP set's attributes by 5% increase Rank 1 Players Expertise by say 4% or whatever number keeps it balanced.
  2. ^ This. Also I generally leave WZs that start out 4 vs. 8 because there is no way to win that match nor will you earn enough medals/valor/etc. to be worth it. Same deal for the "Untrained Monkeys", if you show yourself to be the only competent player on the enemy team you become the focus target and will be lucky to earn the minimum 3 medals to get any credit. Please note that before the 1.2 patch I averaged 6 medals a match as straight DPS. Now I average about 10, except in games with the so-called "Untrained Monkeys". The really sad part is that these WZs aren't that hard to figure out what to do and what not to do.
  3. (Originally posted in a thread about "casuals" and PVP gear but on further thought realized it needed it's own thread) I find it very interesting how PVP (and PVE for that matter) has been structured in many MMOs of late. It's challege level is inverse to earlier video games. As a fresh PVPer its more difficult to get kills and perform well so it is MORE challenging. However, in MMOs as you earn the "rewards" of PVP it becomes easier to kill others and perform well in matches so it becomes LESS challenging. Thus instead of requiring players to be more skilled to win they actually require a player to have less skill to win. Back in the day it used to be the further you got in video games the more challenging they became. MMOs take the opposite path when it comes to “challenge” whether it’s PVE or PVP. The margin of error for a well geared player is much greater than that of a lesser geared player. Content ends up on "farm status" partially because players learn the fights but also because they can afford errors that lesser geared players cannot or can afford to carry a certain number of players. Truly challenging PVP would be for "starter" PVP gear to have more Expertise and to reduce it as they got the more advanced gear. Better yet attach Expertise to some sort of PVP rank, as rank increases their expertise (or Handicap) goes down, that way the "better" people are the more skill they have to display in order to advance. I wonder how many of these "elitist" and "I got mad skillz" PVPers would actually support this? Methinks very few, they like to talk the talk but would never walk the walk.

  5. All this discussion about people infecting the opposite faction and ganking them, clearly you've not figured out 2 of the easiest solutions to prevent this from happeneing. 1) The most obvious, the vaccination. 2) Get infected by either someone of your own faction or one of the mobs. You cannot be reinfected by the opposing faction so no flag.
  6. You do realize that even on PVE servers there are PVP areas like Outlaws Den correct? You also realize that if you buff a flagged person or a non-flagged person in a party with a flagged person you get flagged for PVP correct?
  7. I've been in several Alderaan WZs that have started 4 vs 8 and stayed that way for several minutes and never shutdown. By the time the team that starts with 4 finally gets 8 that stay the match is a loss. Perhaps only allow X number of players to use the speeder on both sides? It really sucks and should be fixed.
  8. Its actually a tough call. You see if Crafting made the best gear then pretty much everyone would have crafting alts. Eventually anyway, the game is a little new for that right now. Crafted items have to be good enough that they are in demand (and worth the time/credit sink to level) but not so good that it is the best gear in game. Otherwise people could just do dailies/grind mobs for the credits and have the best gear in game. Once a recipe is learned its a sure thing, this is also a factor. Doing Ops & FPs has to be rewarding as well, see previous. PVE Drop gear has to be a bit better than crafted gear since it is RNG if it drops and may or may not require many runs to obtain. PVP gear, that is the real kicker. It has to be good so that people will PVP to get it, but also has to be reasonably attainable so that not just the top 1% of PVPers can eventually get it. With Expertise PVP gear really should have lower stats than PVE gear. However that gets you into multiple sets of gear, and yada yada yada. The thing is its a balancing act and its not always easy to balance.
  9. Lets see where to begin... First, World Events that don't affect everyone are not "World" events, its that simple. Once you compartmentalize the event to make it "safe" and inconsequential its already failed as an event. Second, why are you even bothering? It doesn't really affect you aside from the occasional 2 sec "stun" and the final explode which nets you 5 DNA which you can then sell for much more cash than starter characters ever had. Just rez where you are and keep on trucking. You can still quest, PVP, or whatever. Just pay attention on the final stage (feverish, glowing eyes, etc) if you're doing a FP, even then supposedly heals reset the timer. So get a heal and you shouldn't explode on the boss. This really is something you can ignore and it goes away. Go about your business, explode, sell DNA for 15k (seems to be average), and profit. And Chaosi is right, if you're whining about this don't EVER play EVE.
  10. Perhaps next time you should try to go Super Sayian while waiting... http://www.crunchyroll.com/anime-news/2012/02/15/video-kid-thinks-hes-a-super-saiyan-powers-up-on-camera
  11. Mine says infect 10 enemy players. That is harder than you think.
  12. You whine too much. It literally takes a few hours to get off the starter planets, less if you know what you are doing and spacebar past the cutscenes. There are GM termianls on the Fleets and Capitol Planets. At 15k credits each, getting infected ONCE would net a newbie 75k credits. That's a nice bankroll at level 10. Undergeared? You can complete pretty much all quests on starter planets with the gear they spoon feed you. Second there are enough people with knowledge to explain to the newbies to just die. Now they might swindle them out of the DNA but probably someone will inform them of the real value cause not everyone is a douchebag. You really do whine too much.
  13. Actually cooperation makes sense, the Rakghoul plague is a threat to both Empire and Republic. Even more to the point, in the scheme of things it benefits the Empire to let to the Republic research the plague too, even share data with them. Why? Because it increases the amount of resources working to stop & cure it and the Empire knows that if the Republic discovers the cure or vaccine (which I thought my Trooper already did on Taris) they will share it with the Empire.
  14. That's the "Advanced" training. Normal Tactiacal Warriors don't complain, they haven't recieved the training yet. Once you get to Advanced you get to take a MOS in Crying and Complaining.
  15. I got Mako on my Commando but don't have a BH on that server. I wish I could sell it on the neutral AH.
  16. Having sound issues as well, they have posted that they are working on them. Really this belongs in CS forums.
  17. Don't read spoiler unless you've completed the Zash part of the storyline for Inquisitors.
  18. Somebody hit ctrl+x when they meant to hit ctrl+c. End of discussion.
  19. Can you please make the shipboard targeting dummy be C2-N2 and/or 2V-R8 complete with voice over responses to damage? Me: Allright just stand right there and hold still. C2-N2: Yes master, but why are you pointing that auto-cannon at me? Me: Don't worry about it, you come with a life time warrenty don't you? C2-N2: Uhhh Mas-<BZZZXT!>
  20. Have you been playing HampsterNom?
  21. A play on the name of Flagship Studios; the developers behind the critically slammed Hellgate: London series. It usually references to the fact that many of the game's features are currently broken, or bugs causing the player to be set back after doing a fair bit of work for a meager reward.
  22. NO NO NO!!!! Battleship doesn't release until MAY 18th!
  23. I'd have to agree. Republic side armor often leaves much to be desired. I almost always hide the head piece for my Shadow so he doesn't look like a reject from the 1984 Dune movie. Some are just ridiculous looking, we're talking Jacobim Mugatu from Zoolander silly.
