  1. Did you also demand that the chef come to you table and tell you how he intends to cook your food and at what times he expects it to arrive at your table? If so then you probably got the meal you deserved for distracting the chef.
  2. Do what everyone else did. 1) Pick a variation using a - or ' like Lu'ke Sky-walker 2) Use a variation that is spelled differently but is phoenetically the same. Spyder instead of Spider. 3) Think of a new name, really its not that big a deal and you're not as special a little snowflake as your parents told you that you were. Don't believe me? Google or search Facebook for your real name and see how many turn up. For most of us that going to be quite a few.
  3. Being demanding and throwing temper tantrums ("I wan my blankee right NOW!" or "Tell me what I want to know right NOW!") may have worked, and who knows maybe still does, on your parents but doesn't work on developers of MMOs. At least not after the first time they had hold off or scrap something they announced would be coming out in such and such patch.
  4. Gah! I hate having people like you in WZs with me. That's about the stupidest statement anyone can make when it comes to participating in any kind of competition. Is winning everything? No, but having a good competative match is, whether you win or lose. You can have fun even if you don't win, but getting your butt kicked up and down the WZ over and over again is not fun. It's usually people with the "I don't care about winning" attitude that I come across most often in groups that are getting repeatedly roflstomped. They don't care about winning so they never learn what it takes to actually win and be effective, just so long as they can get a few comms. Basically the "gold star" for showing up.
  5. You mean they took a page out of Blizzard's book? Really people, this game is 9 months old. Nine...months...old. Please note: WoW was released on November 23, 2004. The Burning Crusade, was released on January 16, 2007. Wrath of the Lich King, was released on November 13, 2008. Cataclysm, was released on December 7, 2010. WoW (the 800lbs Gorilla of MMOs with scads of money) hasn't had a content update since 4.3 November 29, 2011, just to put things in perspective for you. I've seen this kind of crying on every MMO I've played, try going outside more or something.
  6. I've been looking for a site to help me put together the look I want for my character but have been having trouble finding one that will show me what the gear looks like. TORhead really falls short of its WoWhead sister site in terms of information and usefulness. Other DB sites may be slightly better in some aspects but also lack the screenshots. Anyone have a good site that shows what the different Custom and Modable armors look like?
  7. "Another glorious day in the Troopers! A day in the Republic Troopers is like a day on the farm. Every meal's a banquet! Every paycheck a fortune! Every formation a parade! I LOVE the Troopers! " "How do I get out of this chicken-**** outfit?" "On the bounce!" "These are the rules. Everybody fights, nobody quits. If you don't do your job I'll kill you myself." "The deadliest weapon in the Galaxy is a Trooper and his rifle. It is your killer instinct which must be harnessed if you expect to survive in combat. Your rifle is only a tool. It is a hard heart that kills. If your killer instincts are not clean and strong you will hesitate at the moment of truth. You will not kill. You will become dead troopers and then you will be in a world of $**t because troopers are not allowed to die without permission. Do you maggots understand? "
  8. You're quite welcome. However I'm still learning about this stuff my self so don't take what I say as Gospel, my info that I've looked up could be incorrect or dated. I miss having a "trusted" site like Arena Junkies where the people with the time and inclination crunch the numbers and have been acknowledged by the community as being credible.
  9. Now I'm going to have go with the "have you ever held a blaster rifle" crew argument here...do blaster rifles and pistols even have a recoil since there is no projectile? So would it be necessary for them to use extremely durable materials thus causing the the rifle to cost more? Oh crap! How am I doing Mortar Volley and Explosive Round out of blaster with no Grenade Launcher!?!?!? I never actually thought about how many different types of ammunition a Trooper has to lug around. 1) Explosive Rounds (for both ability of same name and Mortar Volley) 2) Grav Rounds 3) Concussive Rounds 4) Demolition Rounds 5) Energy Cells (3 different types) 6) Cryo Grenades 7) Harpoons 8) Sticky Grenades 9) APSDs for HiB 10) Tazers/darts for Neural Jolt 11) Smoke Grenades 12) Stealth Probes 13) Not to mention all the medical gear the Medics have to lug about Jet puch is not really that "out there" they have jet packs and wear heavy armor so it works, sorta...
  10. I'm having fun with the build, now I'm just a little confused/annoyed with the gearing situation. So far I've picked up: BM Supercommando's Rifle (I had commendations burning a hole in my pocket and it was the first thing I did after hitting 50) BM Supercommando's Shield Generator BM Eliminator's Helmet Anyway I've read that the actual Supercommando gear is not good and that I should be getting Eliminator gear, however I've seen quite a few tanks sporting full Supercommando with no changes to it. I'd considered swapping in the mods & enhancements from Eliminator and leaving the Armor (that is what dictates the bonuses and why they are "locked") so that I basically have the Supercommando Armor & Bonuses with the damage oriented mods & enhancements from Eliminator. That is going to be hideously expensive and time consuming, especially considering I'd have to repeat the process with the WH gear. Hence the frustration & confusion. Why'd BW give the Supercommando gear mods & enchancements that are sub-par considering shields don't work for Force & Tech abilites? My research has lead me to believe that the stat priotities are: Expertise > Aim >= Critical Rating (30%) = Surge Rating (75%) > Power/Tech Power > Accuracy (105%) Which to me is the Eliminator set. Thoughts?
  11. Meh, just call the "Snow" side Stables, the "Grass" side Farm, the middle Blacksmith and be done with it.
  12. Did you read what you wrote in response to his statement? Many people are gearing up from recruit to BM in the non ranked WZ, if you have your WH gear you've progressed past the unranked WZs. You are not progressing you're only impdeding someone else's progress in gearing up. Additionally you're not helping them learn to play well, you're making things much easier for them than if they had 8 people in mixed recruit and BM gear.
  13. Ahh but that's the thing, the opposing team ended the Huttball match quickly they just as easily could have decided to get to 5 then pad thier numbers for 5 minutes and get the bonus medals for ending it "early". Also he effectively "quit" too since he was busy raging at me instead of actually playing the match.
  14. I thought they changed that back to 3 again, that or they never updated the tool tip when they changed it. I probably could have pulled a medal or two out of that mess but really my team was outclassed even if they weren't trying to play Death Match during Huttball. The opposing team was a well geared premade that I'd fought a couple times already that day and I was in a PuG.
  15. Actually no it won't. If you treat the mini-map like most normal maps with "up" being north then left will always be West and right will always be East. So when you hear "East" you know to head towards the right hand side of your mini-map. CW is the only map where "up" is different dpending on the side you're on. I don't have an issue with Grass and Snow at least not since they added same faction matches to CW. Reason being many people associated "East" with Snow and "West" with Grass (or vice vera if Imp) and when you get a same faction match that can often throw people off.
  16. So last night after completing my WZ daily I decided to work on finishing the weekly 9 wins, I zone in to a Huttball already in progress that is 2-0 with 12 minutes on the clock on the losing side. Less than 30 seconds later they scored point 3 with ridiculous ease because my team was kill chasing nowhere near the BC. I left the match figuring that my time could be better spent in a match where I'm going to at least get a decent amount of medals even if I lose. Well no sooner than I load back into the Fleet some guy starts rage whispering me because I quit. Now I've had people on PVP servers swap to an alt and rage whisper me because they ganked me and then I got my main and turned the tables on them but never because I didn't feel like wasting my time playing a WZ or BG that was lost before I even joined it. I didn't bother responding to his tells just re-queued and went and got a drink. Well the Huttball didn't last very long because about 2 min later I zone into a VS and the guy is there and the leader, he starts raging in ops about me quitting, so again I don't bother to respond to him. This guy was lead and not bothering to mark the healers nor try to provide direction. So I mark the healers and start providing direction what little good it did. We lose that match too, our offense didn't make it past the first door and they rolled us on defense. After zoning back to the Fleet this guy rage tells me again still going on and on about quitting. I made the response that perhaps he should worry less about people leaving a lost cause and do his job as leader and then added him to my ignore list. I'm bored at work so I thought I'd share this little anecdote and see if others have had similar experiences.
  17. DPS or Tank? If for a tank I read somewhere on these forums where a guy did the spreadsheet number crunching and he said that Shield & Absorb were the better choice for Tanks. I'll dig for it and add the link as an edit. Edit: here is the link, http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=488866
  18. Never said you couldn't just that its not something you'd want to be doing as a regular (regular as in every 9 seconds)combat move and that a different move would be more appropriate. Let me ask you this, how do you think the stock of the M-4 compares to that of say an M-1 in terms of durability when used as a bludgeoning weapon? Then how would a damaged or broken stock affect your combat effectiveness with a M-4? A barrel jab move would actually be a better choice, hence what I said about a bayonet. Hmmm, Barrel Jab a possible future close in mez/stun type ability for Troopers? If you look at most Blaster Rifles the majority have "light weight", collapsable, or "wire" stocks which aren't suited to the kind of abuse bashing someone or something in the face on regular basis entails. There are a few exceptions that look like they are damn solid. The one from Tatooine (and one of my favorite models) for example. And to the "you've never held a blaster rifle" folks; its a republic, the standard rifles issued to the Trooper were probably built by the lowest bidder. Didn't you pay attention to Chapter 1 of the Trooper story or Jorgan's questline? Cheaply made blaster rifles and auto cannons would just be par for the course...
  19. The only things you really need are air, water, food, and shelter. In that order. Everthing else is a want, and in the context of a video game everything is a want. Splitting hairs on a term that the MMO gaming system decided to use for their roll prioritization system is just being a douchebag. Really MMOs should have adopted a Class/Role/Craft and Trade rolling system. Class/Role/Craft - can only be selected if they are the appropriate class or have the appropriate tradeskill (and don't already know the pattern, if they do then they roll Trade for it). Higest priority roll and binds item. Trade - this is the lowest priority roll for vendoring and selling in the GTN/AH/whatever. BoE items remain BoE. Essentially that is what a certain other game actually finally implemented after 7 years. It still has flaws due to other features that they implemented or did as of my last played date.
  20. I figured we woudln't be that lucky, but I still try to hit evryone I can with the debuff. Thanks for the reply.
  21. Hmmmm looking at your build I'm not exactly sure where you're trying to go with it. The build sort of looks like a bastardized Ironfist build but misses some good stuff and includes a couple dubbaU-Tee-Eff? talents. 1) You skip points in Steely Resolve, I believe one of the propeller heads that like to crunch numbers said that 1 pt there = about 4% damage increase to all abilites since Aim is our "primary" stat. If that is accurate that's 12% damage you're missing out on. 2) You don't take the full points in Intimidation, Ion Pulse, Pulse Cannon, and your Ion Cell all deal Elemental damage. 3) You have 2 points in Brutal Impact which affects HIB, yet those 2 points would be better spent in Heavy Stock since Stockstrike does more damage and you will use it more often than HIB with the shorter cooldown and the points you spent in Static Shield. 4) Smoke Grenade is handy for survivability in both PVE and PVP, well worth the 1 pt IMO. YMMV, 5) You have 2 pts in Charge! One of our worst talents IMO. Its only possible use is in Huttball and even then it's debatable with all the snares, knockbacks, and stuns. If you use Storm its usually to get in someone's face, not jump to them and run away. Are your companion's gear up to date with your/their levels? That may be your issue, try using Vik to tank and you burn the guy down. If you're looking to do DPS stay with your DPS build, going Shield you'll do even less damage in PVP and I'm assuming that you'll be PVPing since you took Defensive Measures. Check one of the threads floating around about PVP Shield build. I have one where there's a good answer/commentary about playing as a Tank in PVP. I think 2/28/11 is a little more on target for what you were looking for. I don't think its a great build either (still a bastardized IF build) but I think it has a little more of the best of both worlds. 2/31/8 is what I am currently running as an "all around" PVE/PVP Shield build.
  22. I actually caught another post by you Philosomanic that answered things after posting this one. I tried out the full shield build last night and found it interesting. Granted I need some adjustment as I had to rearrange some hot keys and my muscle memory is still screwing me a bit. I've changed my play style as well and focused more on guarding & taunting and defuffing more than actual damage. Though it seems that people soon realize I'm a bit squishy due to recruit gear and I get focused if they are halfway decent. One thing I was thinking about is crafting the empty Supercommando (400 Armormech) gear and putting the Eliminator mods into it for the set bonus. That gives greater mobility with a shorter Storm cooldown and a small damage boost while guarding. I know I know we are not supposed to be killing stuff but at the same time I'd argue that our damage should not be albe to be ignored by any DPS with a defensive cooldown and a self heal while they burn down a teammate either. Also do you know if the debuff from the Static Field talent counts towards Protection points like taunts do?
  23. Well the whole "force" thing is called suspension of disbelief, we accept it as part of the SW universe. Infantry combat however is something real that can be researched and real live experts exist on the subject. To me that is the difference, Force = accepted make believe, Infantry Combat methods = real and pretty easily researchable by talking to any serving infantry soldier, veteran, or trainer.
  24. I think what people are missing is that soldiers are rarely informed of the "big picture", they go to <insert place here> and follow their orders, that's it. Troopers are the mushrooms of SWTOR, kept in the dark and fed manure.
