  1. Wrong, DCUO limits you too unless you buy escrow packs from their own CM. Mind you DCUO is well past this learning curve and is easily one of the best games on the market but it severely lacks for RP... Which is why I stuck to SWTOR. And that disappoints me because my current budget allowed me to only sub for one game and I chose the crappy game with the good RP over my first MMO which has evolved into a fantastic game...
  2. In LOTRO they also give you a **** ton of quests and deeds to complete that give you Turbine Points (their Cartel Coins) that you can purchase on account wide zones, more character slots, and banking. I would know, my dad is the regular subber of LOTRO and I play it free and I have the exact same amount of stuff he does because we figured out how to milk the system and get it to work. Took like 2 weeks of game time, but it worked.
  3. I addressed the chairs in my OP if you were reading it properly. But that's a plug leak as opposed to walking up to a fixed chair in game and sitting down in it. Big difference. I would know, I have quite a few chair emotes. Also, the FPS is no excuse for a proper chat bubble above the head talking with the option to toggle on and off.
  4. ha ha, very funny. I get it, be patient. But apart from legacy bank and player housing and guild ships, we really don't know the full extent of QoL and RP updates this fully entails. You can't just have big ones without the little things being addressed. Afterall, little things build up.
  5. I would hope so and the housing expansion does contribute, but to what extent? Do we get to sit in chairs? Do we get chat bubbles? Do we FINALLY have hood toggle? Do all emotes have corresponding actions? Are the houses instanced or in a community like SWG? Or a whole new zone like LOTRO? Or is it a hybrid like DCUO that is accessible through the open world but once you enter the player house you are in an entire separate instance?
  6. Not that I am asking for much (even though we all have our wants) but I myself am an avid roleplayer on SWTOR. It keeps the game fresh for me and interesting to see where I go in the Star Wars universe. The game has already offered a lot for me in this regard as well. In fact I find it much easier to RP than to find an Ops or a guild willing or strong enough TO Ops with. All in all, RP and story was, and still is, the driving factor of SWTOR. However many people since the game's launch have voiced more than thousands of concerns in terms of QL and RP/Story options ranging from anything like SGR to Hood Toggle to Cross-Class weapon selection and many, many more. Now in some cases they have responded in small ways, such as all current content post Makeb being available, however briefly, to SGR, the various chair emotes as placeholder to a true sit-in-chairs function, there are many other ways that we as fans have voiced that need to be addressed, and BioWare has made clear that they KNOW is a prime concern with that portion of the community. It has become an increasing issue as time has gone on. Now that they are regularly addressing the PVE/content crowd (despite lack of further solo class stories), and even more recently the PVP crowd with GSF and 2.7's new Huttball maps and the arenas, do you personally think there will ever be an update made strictly for QL/RP? I mean heck if anything that would be an ample time to bolster the new GSH content on the horizons and the Cartel Market and maybe toss in one FP and Warzone to pacify the other crowds, but what do you think? Yay or nay?
  7. While I don't mind chat bubbles and having SOME instances re-opened, I have to say no to the rest. First off, you can MAKE an RP chat window and turn off general chat already so they won't just do that. Second, they won't make RP groups when you can form ops groups already and full groups. But I wouldn't mind expanding the Ship company limit from 4 to 8 so you can have a full op in your ship. What this means for the expansion is anyone's guess. Thirdly, they already addressed that they WILL NOT allow cross-class weapons in the last cantina, even if it's just for show, and personally that always irritated me anyways how people never want to play a class in a conventional sense. "Oh I'm not a Jedi" -totally a Jedi Sentinel class with 2 lightsabers- so this doesn't bug me in the slightest. They have legacy abilities and taunts out there to display Force abilities if you want to be a gunslinger who has Force talents. Use those. They are intentionally staying away from allowing people who are say Guardians to use Saberstaffs or Bounty Hunters to have rifles. fourthly, your dueling ideas (sans the group one which some do want) are ridiculous and impossible to implement. If an un-friendly is nearby IRL, he WILL attack you, regardless of who you are busy fighting in PVP. Single-life duels? uhh, duels already end when the fight is over. If you don't want to re-match, decline it. *headdesk* What people REALLY want for RP? Hood toggle, able to sit in chairs (though they've gotten somewhat better with the advent of chair emotes), less adds per area so people CAN RP without getting attacked all the time, and chat bubbles. I mean there are a TON of areas in the fleets and 4 homeworlds and Nar Shaddaa alone that are PERFECT for RP, but nobody uses them, everyone just wants to use the same area. That isn't their problem, that's the problem of the players themselves.
  8. approved. a GREAT way to bolster profits as well as something collectible for players to have heck even if they just cheated and YOU had to paint them yourself, it'd still be friggin' awesome!
  9. It's fine, just drop the "Bladelord" part of his name. A Sith name is singular and most typically take the name based on a significant meaning to them personally. You don't see Vader running around with "Darth Vader Skywalker" now do ye? XD
  10. The forums are an extension of the game. If I were roleplaying and going with the general canon and I saw someone claim to be "The Hero of Tython" as cool as some of the pieces of the story ALSO fit in with my character, I know it's not really my character BECAUSE everybody else has done that story. That's why.
  11. Bro, you are not the Emperor's Wrath. You did not defeat Darth Baras. That was a class story. Class storylines aren't what you write as part of your personal canon, they're just a story to be played by BioWare mate... They know who the TRUE Emperor's Wrath is, but they won't tell us. Ever. Simply because it's a choice based MMO. You will need to adjust that. I should also point out that no TRUE Darth would carry a last name of any kind, as most Sith choose their name at the start of their training to seperate themselves from the chain of other people. Basic tenants of the Sith Code. Anybody who keeps the name they often called is not a "true" Sith. Heck Revan and Malak aren't even the names of Darth Revan and Darth Malak. Nobody knows what Revan's true name is, not even he, and Malak's name was Alak. Just letting you know that your backstory could some serious revision.
  12. what's to say the belt clip ISN'T by the emitter? I have friends with Ultrasabers saberstaffs and their belt clips and closer to one of the emitters and it hangs not unlike that. But I see where you are coming from
  13. Hear me out, everybody. With the advent of Galactic Strongholds releasing and a lot of its functions being tied to IN GAME credits, it would be a nifty afterthought. Got a bunch of spare cartel coins you don't need? Want some extra credits to buy that VIP lounge band? Something on the GTN? Or more space for your house? Why not come up with a system where we can convert our cartel coins into in-game credits and vice versa. Set it as some obscene "1 million credits for 250 cartel coins" or something like that, so that way free players and preferred players can't just suddenly get cartel coins for working their tails off (though the achievements giving them coins was a good idea) considering their regular escrow limits are 100K and 300K respectively. This would further encourage subscribers because it's a feature, what with their credit limits being unlimited, to go back and forth and use to great effect. They have a million credits to blow? They can convert it to cartel coins. Heck the game economy would go even further because then you have the GTN runners and so on and so forth... On second thought, make a restriction on that too... Subscribers get 500 cartel coins a month, so allow them to score an extra 250 by transferring a million credits for it, or if they want, they can convert max 1000 cartel coins into in-game credit. Just so you don't have the GTN runners going back and forth and trying to break the system for the rest of us players who are always short on in game credits. What do you guys think?
  14. You realize you're not the first person to make class threads? Some with even more detail down to the class spec levelling trees, all the skills, and buffs, de-buffs, so on. honestly Force users are Force users. If anything, having a Force user with a blaster would be fun as much as a Republic Senator would or an Imperial Trooper, an SIS agent, or a Nightsister. Frankly, the Nightsisters were my choice class because their weapons of choice tend to be ranged based like slingshots or energy bows. That and it feeds the whole "Force-Using" aspect. And there is precedent for lore to have an Initiate Nightsister go from newbie to eventually becoming part of the sisterhood, and you can edit that slightly if you chose to be a Nightbrother, starting off as a servant to the Nightsisters before claiming your own place amongst the clan, which they have done here and there already in SWTOR depending on species or gender. While highly and EXTREMELY unlikely they will add new classes due to the fact they have to do a new storyline and then edit in to the old content said storylines (which they do not have the resources or manpower to do considering EA is cheap as hell) I will throw my hat out there and wish there to be the two classes: Senator (a Padmé-esque political drama) and Nightsister (the Wicca goth fantasy a la Assaj Ventress.)
  15. I'm anti-military to the core and I completely agree with this post. 150%. Having done martial arts off and on for the past 6 years or so, there is a certain satisfaction in knowing you can defeat your opponent and knowing they may not play fair, but you can still kick their asses based on your own skill. While it is good to know your enemy is never going to fight fair, knowing you do shows character. It takes fortitude to stand still. It takes strength to play the game as it is played. In fact the entire ethos of Samurai, and why they are considered among the greatest fighters of their age, was about honor and that there was glory in not needing to cheat to win. That you would not kill a defenseless opponent and that letting them live was a mark of superiority. And that in their dishonor, they have nothing to live for and thus they kill themselves. They had great respect for their opponents and like many warriors of their era, there was a sense of chivalry that was lost in the passing of time and the spreading of the human gene pool as it expanded and people began to eat each other in ways that are just disgusting, and thus most people became disgusting. So it is really fascinating to see still there are those out there willing to fight with honor, respect, and decency. While most discard them in war, what you said is very true: Always better to die with dignity than win through false pretense.
  16. Guardians and Juggernauts (and by proxy the ENTIRETY of the Warrior/Knight class) are getting ****ed over in one of their biggest weapons: Force Sweep. Or Smash, depending on which class. That move is handy in a PVP yes, but even MORE SO in PVE for those of us who occasionally have to deal with the bug of an enemy turning invisible on you and thus you cannot attack them nor target them. So by making it a requirement to have to target an enemy to use Force Sweep basically makes me useless in a fight because the only thing that can damage an invisible enemy is radial attacks and by taking away said radial attack, well there goes a huge chunk of offense. It's very much a get out of jail free card and that is BAD. The rest I care little for but DUDE! Why nerf a move that is a saving grace for a buggy instance?
  17. I'm all for it. I'm not a Mac user, but my GF and a couple of friends that really DO want to play SWTOR are. So getting them to join me in the Galaxy Far, Far Away would be fantastic
  18. I wouldn't be against this notion. I miss the 3-man party aspect of the KOTOR games and J-RPGs so having a companion, a hired gun (like in LOTRO, who do have upgradeable skills, but you can't give them gear), and a pet would make for quite a story IMHO. I mean the class ships have plenty of seats in each respective cockpit, I think it would be cool to have your "hired crewmate" whether you need a Smuggler, a Padawan, or a Trooper, to occupy one of those seats would be a great idea. I mean they are obviously weaker and will go down much faster than a companion and can be made to be unavailable in class instances, Flashpoints, and Operations, so it's entire possible.
  19. Unfortunately the engine they are using would make that very difficult to perform, there's already a ton of customization with the various gear pieces + dye modules, what more do you want exactly? A chest symbol so you can be Darth Batman?
  20. Jedi Guardian because while I typically always make my main a DPS, I wanted to have a single lightsaber and not dual-wield, especially when there's no lightsaber shotos in game (as of yet). As time wore on I began to really dig the feel of the class and the character and it really suited my personality had I been raised a Jedi and in the end, a light side Jedi but with romance towards a girl like Kira (who is like any smart guy's dream girl really), it was too many wins to say no to, so I chose it because it feels like me and what I aspire to be.
  21. sorry, what was that? I couldn't hear your expletives over the asterisks
  22. Jedi Knight - Kira Carsen Jedi Consular - Nadia Grell Sith Warrior - Jaesa Wilsaam Sith Inquisitor - Ashara Zavros All become your apprentice of sorts, and ALL are romance-able. Now would it be nice to have a NEW Force User companion with DPS/Healer or Tank/Healer capabilities? Sure, sounds like fun, but there already are Jedi and Sith companions who take on the apprentice role.
  23. Ironically in RP terms they are NOT really playing the bad guy. You see the RP in the servers? Gaaaah, the Jedi and Republic people are all a bunch of tortured, darksider, brooding, Batmen of sorts for no apparent reason other than it is liberating and "unconventional" (except when everyone is doing it, it IS conventional...), and the bloody Sith and Imperials are a bunch of Hipster bronies touting that "FRIENDSHIP IS MAGIC!" "UNITY!" "MAKE LOVE, NOT WAR! Unless it's against restrictions like the Jedi! FREEDOM!!!!!" GAAH I really hate 90% of the RP in SWTOR because of this...
  24. Which I argue is why this would be a good thing and get people to either re-sub or replay the game I mean maybe they can give it an incentive: "Subscribers won't lose affection while FTPers WILL be affected."
