  1. yeesh, that's harsh. My university has no blocks at all that I know of, just a ~1GB a day limit that they only enforce if you regularly break it, or break it by a lot (like the guy who forgot about his torrent running all night, 150 GB later...) The only restriction I know of is having too many SSH connections open from when I wanted to run a bunch of simulations firewall thought I was a hacker.
  2. simple solution, never buy packs. Or buy them, sell them on GTN and use the credits to 100% buy what you want, no gambling involved. Or get into crafting and skip the CC cost altogether, just use them on appearance changes, account wide unlocks etc.
  3. been suggested over and over and over again. They don't seem overly inclined to.
  4. Voss would be... bizarre from a lore point of view. I'm ecstatic about togruta, but nautolan would be great for the one after. They also share many of the challenges in their model so I can see it. Probably next year though.
  5. with the appearnce designer now a thing I can see a lot of people wanting this to age their characters as they level. I'm not one of them but I can see it.
  6. maybe we'll get something more for them after/with togruta. They got a fair amount in common after all.
  7. depends on the mail provider I think. If you got to log on to webmail every time, then getting the password is a real pain.
  8. If you are talking about on the webpage, it is because you probably have cookies disabled. It tracks by the presence of the cookie, not based on IP address i think. If you're talking about the launcher, it's a bit more complex, I believe it does the same thing as the browser really, store a small temporary file on your computer somewhere that contains the validation information the log in server wants. Best solution for both is to get a security key. If you have a smartphone, just download the app, it's free and gives you free CC and access to the security key vendors. If you don't have a smart phone, download bluestacks or some other android emulator and get the app on there. Same deal really. If you do have a security key and still getting one-time password stuff, something fishy is going on and you should contact customer support.
  9. Another game I play (Planetary Annihilation) which had the same kind of UI issues back in beta solved this issue by spawning a new process for each major UI element. It didn't do too much for the folk running on dual cores but for those running quad and up it was amazing (the recommended specs were for quad core so not a big deal there). Optimization is ideal, but sometimes the easiest and fastest way is to just throw more computing power at it. It's 2015, time to start using multi-core machines properly.
  10. Noticed some slower than usual server pings, about 150 ms, but i took a trip to by SH and back to Belsavis and it opened up a new instance which had the usual 60-70 ms ping (usual for me anyway). Nothing like you describe though.
  11. not to mention companion romances... no, just no.
  12. Their are a LOT of revealing clothing choices out there, especially on the imperial side. If I recall, tor-fashion.com has a "revealing clothing" category you can search through. Just please don't choose the dancer outfits, we got enough of those running around already...
  13. Yes and no. (skip to tl;dr if you want to avoid nerdiness) simplistically the clock rate of a computer (the GHz) is the rate at which the processor executes instructions. At least, that was more or less true a few decades ago before super-scalar processors. Nowadays, a processor will be issuing multiple instructions per clock tick, which is (one of) the reasons for intel being better than AMD. An intel chip running at 3.0 GHz will in reality be doing a lot more than an AMD chip at the same clock rate, as it has a higher issue width. Then you start throwing multiple cores into this. Now you got all your program's executions being divided up between them all nicely. The problem with SWTOR is that it is not multithreaded (in other words, it cannot divide it's execution between multiple cores worth a darn). This means a cheap 2.8 GHz dual core will run this game just as good as a much more expensive 2.8 GHz 6 core. The 6 core does gain an advantage though with having lots of stuff running in the background. In general, having fewer, faster cores is better for doing few things really fast (like most games), lots of cores is better for doing lots of things at once (multimedia stuff likes multiple cores). And due to power and heat constraints, processors with more cores tend to be much slower on a per-core basis. This is a bit of a gross over-simplification, but the sordid details aren't important I got an old AMD Phenom II X6 1055T, which is also a 6 core, and it can sometimes do funny things with this game. tl;dr: it helps, but take with big grain of salt, AMD is way slower per GHz than intel. Or to be really short, just don't buy AMD CPUs.
  14. Funny to see the people in 2012 saying the game will be dead in two years and that a lifetime would never pay. 2015. Ya I would, though screw Rodian. This game will be around for at least 2 more years in some form or another.
  15. title pretty much says it all, the Outlaw's Visor has the mouth exposed but it sounds like a full helmet, rather annoying
  16. Rishi for sure Rakata Prime is sweet too, though with only 1 flashpoint there there isn't enough
  17. no thanks, we already have vanilla hilts for short stuff, I actually like the longer hilts.
  18. hey we got togruta coming, I saw that as highly unlikely wishful thinking after we had cathar for 6 months and still no new species. They do occasionally give us pleasant surprises. From what I heard ashara was originally going to be like jaesa, but they scrapped it last minute. The problem though is that they seem highly reluctant to touch the 1-50 content at all, so I'm not holding my breath. Who knows though, maybe they'll make a companion focused expansion to make up for the lack in SOR. Okay, now I'm just rambling...
  19. you'll get them about 1 month into your sub. So if you subbed on the 25 of jan say, you'll get your next batch on the 25 of Feb approx. Not sure the exact number of days between but it is not a set day of the month for everyone
  20. majority of the community... ya right, you mean a majority of forum goers... wait no I don't think that is right either. I'd say a majority of the forums whiners would be fair though. Remember people, you paid for CARTEL COINS. You got what you paid for. If you went and spent them on a VIRTUAL ITEM (or for that matter, on a virtual item that MAY give you the desired virtual item) and later that item got nerfed due to examination of the economic numbers, that is NOT BW fault. Have they been overnerfed? probably. Does BW have to change it? No. Will they change it eventually? maybe, probably going to take awhile for the cesspit to settle though.
  21. harbinger wouldn't effect login OP, try rebooting your computer, there is a known (and rare) login issue that hasn't been fixed yet.
