  1. Only you do. We all do. Um, t's an MMO, and without other players, it folds.
  2. Idea for the dev's: Lazarus Long's Dora (fr. Heinlein) -- from the outside, a modest size. Inside, a quite spacious mansion.
  3. Your reasoning makes sense. However, many developer posts have been about tackling needed game adjustments in order of priority. Is this really high on that list? How about Ability Lag? How about the unpopular and unavoidable Auto-PvP feature that violates the game code about non-consensual PvP (see thread in this forum)? If y'all are using "Ease of Correction" or "Rapidity/Alacrity of Correction" as a criterion in addition to simply priority, please let us know. I think the community would accept that, but saying "priority" only, and making a fix like this, is quite the empathic failure. This community certainly has other priorities. But thanks for the clear explanation!
  4. Hear, hear, Mate. I'll raise a glass wi' ye a' that. It is easily the clumsiest marketplace of the few MMO's I've played (WoW, RIFT, & this). Actually, I think I did get spoiled with WoW's, but more from the AH Addons and their apparently sophisticated market analyses than the AH UI itself, which was still better than ours here.
  5. Well at the very least, thanks for posting. I'm one of those who had not noticed the existence of this thing. What happens once you use the much maligned tool? Do you wait, passively, for some Good Samaritan to see your name and send you an invite? Or do you keep spamming Who & the LFG window? I'm guessing there's nothing like the "Da-Daaah" sound & on screen box announcement of That Other MMO which ought not be named.
  6. Yes, and I cannot believe all the pseudo-authorities QQ'ing your poll. True scientists rarely expect definitive or final answers from research, and no true scientist gets anything published if they speak with hubris about their own studies. Neither did you do so. Like any good journal article, you were completely up front about the limitations of this study. More up front than many publications, in fact. Your data are meaningful -- not "end of story, proven, Q.E.D" -- but meaningful, and that is the only claim you made. Yes, this is important, and I hope the problem is remedied with all due haste. Or Alacrity.
  7. The Ultimate sandbox game has been around since the late twentieth century -- and it's still around -- and it's called NationStates.net. It is an MMORPG (well, it used to be "massive"), and it is pure RP. No GUI, though. Be careful what you wish for.
  8. Vic is the kind of bully I take great pleasure in taking stiletto vengeance upon. I love p***ing him off.
  9. I'm having a great time. I would like to see a few changes: More flexible UI A GTN interface that is much more intuitive, such as being able to search for slots, and being able to enter simply the name of an item, rather than having to tell the intellectually impaired thing what category and subcategory my desired item belongs to A Flashpoint Finder & Operations Finder, rather than "LFG" Elimination of the incapacity to modulate emotional intensity, breath-taking entitlement, and mindless hostility-is-the-only-response-I-am-capable-of of a few posters on these boards (I can dream, can't I) But none of these, even in the aggregate, is remotely a deal breaker for me. As one poster said, nothing's perfect. We just got started with this. Can we not wait a bit for debugging and expanded content? I'm in.
  10. BioWare, thanks for listening and attending to this matter, but last night, after this OP, my lvl 39 Commando had the same lag impairment as before. I am not otherwise having any difficulties with my frame rate or other manifestations of responsiveness: only Ability Lag. Thank you for your prompt response.
  11. This. And the game to which you refer is called "Real Life," as in, some people need to get one. The story line in the one I've created for myself is way too complex, challenging, and stressful. So in my leisurely downtime, I'll take SWTOR, just as it is. For one player, who has voted with his debit card, I am delighted with it as is, FWIW.
  12. Gee. The game has been live for a whopping 26 days (counting early access), not even a month. Do you think there might be some content added somewhere along the way in times to come? A personality disordered person once said to me, "Immediate gratification is too slow. Anyone who knows me should know what I'm going to want even before I realize I do," and she was quite serious. Now, you're not that extreme, and I'm not saying you're wrong, but, like, really?
  13. Dorne. Positive, respectful, can-do attitude. Jorgan (were he human) continues with bitterness that would have compromised his judgment in a pinch. Plus, entitlement pisseth me off.
  14. Tarkus atm is at 34, not yet 50, but I've been an avid reader of various calculations (not just opinions) on the gunnery spec since beta. One of the best discussions is here: http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=117042 Constant attention to ammo management is key for us. One good crit is better than the marginal gain in rapidity given by alacrity, without the faster burn of ammo that will follow if we then take advantage of that increased haste. Tenacious Defense is Highly Recommended, and I would say Soldier's Endurance and Cover Fire are worth our consideration for survivability. RE: Soldier's Endurance: Yes, it's 1/2/3%, but those augmentations are passive, done, in place, not HoT, and with no need to press a button. I'm not saying it's mandatory, just worth considering. FWIW, Tarkus' spec is here: http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#800McZMIkrRrdkzfzZc.1. Kolto Recharge is unpopular for many of our trooper colleagues, mainly because 10 seconds can be a pretty long time if you're starting to hear the Grim Reaper in a fight. Tarkus has one point in Cover Fire, which even at 34 he's found useful, but that could go to Kolto Recharge depending on play style. He prefers to slow his opponents rather than need rescuing, but he has these control Issues along with other emotional baggage.
  15. IMNSHO, this must certainly be the case, for there will even more certainly be expansions. If you get to General right off the bat, there's not much left: Generalissimo? Field Marshall? Imperator? Secretary of Defense? I doubt it.
  16. Yeah. That p-a-u-s-e between "click" and the first "boom" feels like an eternity.
  17. D'oh. Right. Had a mini-stroke, forgetting that surge is indeed the strength of the crit, so you have first to have a chance of a crit for the strength to matter. My apologies.
  18. Please forgive me if I've missed something. What is your rationale for Crit>Surge. Not doubting it, just curious.
  19. This might be over the top for the graphics engine, but a true gravity vortex would warp the target - cause the target itself to implode - as an early poster in this column commented about the gravity well. The wavy concentric circles are a very, very distant approximation of what a gravity well would do. Hm. Would that be to bend the target forward, like a punch to the belly, or would it simply shrink the target in all axes? Relativistically, it would also have an effect on the target's experience of time, being that space and time are the same thing, really. A JC Tank has the Slow Time ability -- the effect of a grav round on the spacetime continuum would probably work in the opposite direction.
  20. http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#800McZMIkrRrdkzfzZc.1 (5/33/3) is pretty standard for a maximum-damage gunnery build. There is debate about whether to put 0, 1, or 2 points in Weapon Calibrations, and where to get or give those points based on that decision. See this: http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=117042 discussion for the role of alacrity, among other stats. Conclusion: alacrity is more for Combat Medic than DPS. I've put that last point in Cover Fire, but others may choose for it to go elsewhere. Mention Kolto Recharge for more heat than light. Of course, as with any build, your mileage may vary.
