  1. Lt. Crusher, that build is intriguing. A step further: As a secondary healer, what about moving the 2 points in Quick Thinking to Field Medicine? The combination of Field Medicine, Advanced Tech, and Heavy Trooper means we have an 8% boost to healing received and an equal boost to the healing we give, at least via MP & AMP. Is the shorter activation time of Quick Thinking really the better use of those two points?
  2. Certainly a robust and viable build. However, with respect, the Slow that is Cover Fire and the Stun-Breaker of Tenacious Defense are exactly the two talents I referred to as having mostly PvP benefit, rather than being "strictly" PvE DPS. Neither enhances Damage (the D in DPS), while Concussive Force technically does, even if only a small bit.
  3. FWIW, here's mine. http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#800McZMIkrRMdokfzZcM.1 Many will disagree with the points I've put in Heavy Trooper and Soldier's Endurance, but I think it covers all the DPS boosts and I personally like the greater survivability. Many take the points I've allocated to those two and put them in PvP abilities. I'm not a PvP'er, much.
  4. Thank you for this! I'm eagerly awaiting your addition of Gunny to the mix.
  5. Yes. Looking forward to: Guildbank (and Guildship?) Dual Spec Flashpoint Finder/Queue But my answer remains a strong "yes."
  6. 1. No data on what BioWare "wants" or doesn't "want" RE: our spec choices. Lots of evidence, though, that hybrid specs are not very effective in this game, in general. 2. IMNSHO, gear is more important while leveling than spec choices. Check your gear, invest if needed to stay current with your level.
  7. What, you didn't know that before now? Would you buy a car without knowing what kind of suspension it had? Tsk,tsk.
  8. OP is clueless about the joys of being an UberGeek. Sad. So sad.
  9. Sometimes if the new player resets the mission in his log it helps. Sometimes.
  10. The insult is not helpful. Plus, it is a bigoted slur against people with a medical condition through no fault of their own. Neither is it accurate, as the dps who does not quickly catch the fact that s/he is aggro'ed very likely does not realize it for all the UI problems you yourself listed. True but not the point. Addons like Recount, GS, and other providers of griefer ammo fundamentally change the game organically, whether one uses them or not.
  11. Bacon, you & I are in complete agreement with regard to all three of these. And Eudaemonea is in the quantum center of the bull's eye about needlessly opening the door to griefers' abuse -- just don't go there. World of Logs is exactly the kind of useful tool I would throw my support behind, FWIW, and I think a lot of anti-modders just might as well. Devs, please consider something like this reasonable, fully pragmatic, approach.
  12. Then you apparently have not read much of the 15 pages of this thread! The fact is that there are not only strong feelings on both sides, but there are also some very compelling arguments on both sides. It is not immediately black-and-white obvious, if one actually considers the arguments on both sides of the matter thoughtfully. The OP is an excellent idea for a middle of the road solution, and quite worthy of consideration. My personal preference, though maybe no one else's, would be for some kind of combat meter whose data are visible only to the player him- or herself. That way, the theory crafters could move beyond theory to evidence in constructing optimum specs and rotations, but we would each enjoy the privacy we expect IRL. Or perhaps limit access to the data to one's guild, at most. But the arguments opposing a completely public accessibility to one's GS or its equivalent would be respected. And we wouldn't feel like we were in the WC on the open street.
  13. Yeah. And many of us find that her healing gets much better as you level. I find her indispensable. The key, as is true of ALL companions, is to progress her gear at the same pace as your own. Don't expect level 37 heals when she is in level 27 gear, for example.
  14. Any word on Titles after completing Operations? Great guide, great effort! Thanks!
  15. Touche', outmaneuvered. I could post my practice webpage, but you would argue I just picked one at random. I could post a picture ID, or other documentary evidence, but you could find a way impeach the validity of that as well. And I value my personal privacy. So I can only withdraw from any such attempt to prove my bona fides. So ignore that clause in my post, and simply consider the argument I posited on its own merits, please.
  16. As a physician, I am disturbed not only at the missing Reasonable Accommodations RE the UI, but more so by the blatant insensitivity bordering on cruelty by the RL Siths. "Don't buy the game if you can't read?" Seriously? This kind of comment in the XXI Century? To suggest that the OP "can't read" is insulting. To suggest that someone just go away because of a medical condition is discriminatory.
  17. 53-year-old psychiatrist. Vividly remember the first movie, opening week, and how I felt dizzy at the first jump into hyperspace. Never seen before (can you imagine that?) and utterly unexpected. No DVD's then, not even VCR, so when I saw it 6 more times, it was at the theater, all before it left town. Heh - I know some child psychologists who play, but this is beneath all the other psychiatrists I know.
  18. Define "bad." Do you mean "morally" or "lacks skill?" This is not merely semantic; I'm quite serious. It is the attitude of SOME min/maxers that those on a learning curve have no right to play the game, that creates the whole controversy about DPS metering, and the OP's suggestion, while perhaps impractical, has a good deal of merit. There are hardcore guilds and there are "Let's go have fun kickin' A" guilds, and people can take their choice. Unfortunately, the mindset of hardcore guilds seems usually to be "Your (sic) pathetic and disgusting go unsub you stupid n00b hahaha" rather than a respectful, "This is not the kind of guild you're going to have fun in," or even, "Let's analyze your gear/spec/rotation and see if you can become more competitive." I have benefited in this way from Recount in XoX, gone from poor to not too shabby if I do say so myself. The possibilities of having the OP's option to exercise, or the limitation of privacy of the dataz, are each excellent in their own right. No one can ever escape the annoying Immature, but I assert my right to have healthy boundaries.
  19. Right. Non-capitalist economies have produced soooo many MMO's. So have over-regulated economies. No, wait . . .
  20. What, because she failed to mimic with quantum precision your thoughts about the matter? Do you understand the concept, "survey" (gathering conclusions & opinions from as many people as possible)? So it wouldn't be biased if it slanted toward what you "felt" (thought?) is wrong with the game? Or else why the complaint? Your judgments just might not represent "the average person" either. How would we know? Refer to above concept, "survey." Your criticisms are unwarranted. OP went to no small amount of trouble and put together a relevant and useful instrument.
