  1. for LR-5 Sentinel Droid, Any ideas on how to handle this fight with 2 melee dps?
  2. you're ignoring his mechanics if youre dying that fast. He almost always starts off with an immediate incinerate, which destroys anyone. you have .5 seconds to interupt his cast before a shell is launched. He does it approx every 12 seconds. Dont go in with 2 melee dps.
  3. Group comp: Shadow tank Shadow dps Sentinel Scoundrel healer of the 10 wipes, 8 of them were due to boxing ourselves in due to the close proximity of the electric storm crap. One was a stumble at 15% and we lost focus, and the other was a derp on our part. 3 melee makes this fight insanely difficult; box yourself in, lose concentration on the incinerate, have less then 1 second to interupt or the tank drops to 25% health. manageable outside of the storm crap. So, strat? The only ones I've seen are for 1 melee 1 ranged dps, or 2 ranged dps. I would love to hear how people do this fight with a group make up similar to this. Trying to kite him all around the room is just way to hectic and full of death traps.
  4. Interceptions only happen if the enemy player is closer to the ring, or closer to the thrower. Theres my guess. ha
  5. Male smuggler. Reminds me of the captain in Firefly.
  6. The new system will follow the following recipe (for disaster) Pray to the gods. You purchase a 'WH token', and pray to the gods this token is the token for your class. Since, ya know, PVE is currently the same. And they said they'd get off the bags, so why not try screwing us over in a manner not as harsh? Hey, at least you get gear for your companions. (herp derp if you believe this you should start beheading chickens for your lewt. Seriously, I think that one right there is carrying your Blaster Rifle token.)
  7. As disappointing as this news is, I would rather them release a polished season then a broken one. Bad community connection though, Bioware. I'm not even qualified and I know not to say something with hype backing it and at the last moment, pull the plug.
  8. What was the inspiration behind the new armor sets in 1.2?
  9. I very much enjoy how your story for your legacy matches class lore (inquisitor slave, for example). Great write up. I look forward to reading any expansions you may add to this (I.E. were they are now)
  10. DO you have background story for each of your characters? For example, why are the republic sisters with the republic? What classes are they and for what reason? Light side? Dark Side?
  11. I'm baffled that most of the conversation in this forum is more focused on specific quests and flaws in the lore provided by Bioware and not on custom stories and role plays. Figured this would be the haven for RPers in general. I'm curious to read some of your custom lore for your characters. I am currently working on the lore for my legacy which includes 6 characters; 3 republic, 3 empire.
  12. BW misjudged their initial wave of subscribers. WoW started off with a small amount of servers and increased based on demand, not expected yield. Bad on BW, but the subscribers still exist in a large number, just spread out throughout a handful of servers and about twelve handfuls of dead/dying servers.
  13. to be fair, it's not exactly easy reinventing the wheel. WoW is a proven profitable concept, and coupling that with Star Wars genre... On the other hand I do enjoy some aspects of the game that WoW didn't have including the number of people in 1 group cut down by 1, the voice overs for everything, the in depth story driven flash points (lets face it, you ran through WoW barely understanding *** it was you were killing and just called it 'that guy who drops the thing'). The valor ranks provide a means of bragging rights without affecting the game in a major way (similar to grinding rank 14 for prestige instead of stopping at 13 due to the minor upgrade). I dig it. The warzones are both obvious remakes of CTF 1 flag and domination and clearly clones of AB and that other warzone (except add landscape to Huttball and turn both maps slightly LOL) so that's not particularly awesome, but they are very fun. The raids are pretty carebear, but I think they can go a long way with the different difficulty modes (change the damn fights more when upping the difficulty. HM and NiM should introduce new mechanics, not +1 to the mechanics already in place) I prefer this game over WoW. The story is the pinnacle of that. It's an unavoidable piece (even when space barring, you still have the feeling of story vs. click accept, follow quest log).
  14. This might have been approached with a kinder audience if the patch weren't coming within the next 2 weeks. Suffice to say, all crew skills will be much more viable in the next patch. Immediate compensation for what you call subpar crew skills is silly. People want augments, ear pieces, ship parts (especially for the dailies) and orange items. 1.2 will only make these wants much greater.
  15. Everything with the exception of heroic quests is a personal problem. Welcome to the internet; the cyber world of trolls and rude demeanor. Regarding heroics; finding a group will get tougher as you go along. Trust me. Once you hit Alderaan, the heroic 4's are both incredibly difficult at your level and very hard to find people interested in doing it. Especially on low pop servers. I would suggest this for any MMO. Find a guild. No one appreciates strangers. Joining a guild (even a small one, or one with little to no 50's or end game plans) allows you to at least converse with people who enjoy the game.
  16. ^QFT also character and such
  17. I'm just going to point out a few things. 1, I read the title, not your wall of text. I assume it is a rant about how under powered ranged are. probably based on gear difference. 2. Ranged classes are by far the most unappreciated and under played archetype in this game. For a good reason, honestly. 90% of SW fans want a light saber. Fact; as an Imperial Sniper as marksman spec, the burst dished out against an equally geared melee anything is superior. Their utility is through the roof and are built well to handle melee. This includes Mara/sents. I would suggest theorycrafting if your concern is pvp and you are having trouble with melee. A lot of talents aren't in cookie cutter builds. Take note, though, that as a ranged you can not go toe to toe in a melee's world. Play defensively. Get away and blow your bursts, dont sit in front of a mara not moving and try and out damage them; it wont work.
  18. Other people may have different experiences, however.. When I hit 50 I was pvping. No thought prior to hitting 50, so I was in orange non daily modded gear. Bad idea. Got picked up by a guild that was clearing Norms and working on HM's in 2 ops. First week, I was in 3/5 Columi and a week later all I have left to replace is my chest and boots for columi. THat means off set pieces acquired We had 4 Ops groups running at one point. When I started raiding, I had under 13.5k hp raid buffed. We went through both EV and KP Norm with no problems, not even council. These people were not in full rakata bull******** away. And on another note; not even in WoW did I have an experience anywhere near the one you described. Hit cap, joined a raiding guild, ran heroics and got raid ready within 2 weeks and was in full PVE gear on 3 different characters.
  19. Shadows Mirror Assassin's. Look up any decent guide to a shadow and you'll find out quickly it isn't a World of Warcraft Rogue. You aren't meant to stay in stealth. The only 2 abilities that require stealth (both of which can be spec'd to be used out of stealth) are blackout and spinning kick. If you're doing anything else in stealth in an offensive perspective, you're doing it wrong. Spinning kick isn't a choice opener, but that doesn't make it useless. Fight a healer some time. (refer to force cloak) Defensive cooldowns aren't meant to make a god of a player. You know why that mara/jug owned you in 1v1? You mistakenly assume 2 things. 1. Deflection does not mitigate 50% damage, it boosts your ranged and melee defenses by 50%. 200 defense with Deflection = 300 defense. 2. Refer to "It boosts your ranged and melee defenses" which means any ability that does damage outside of physical damage (White damage) isn't mitigated with this ability. Juggs have only a few abilities that do damage outside the realm of physical. A properly spec'd mara relies almost entirely on damage outside the realm of physical damage.
  20. This post wreaks of misinformation. Taunts aren't on GCD, 12% reduction means 12% less damage the healers take. The aoe taunt alone is just brilliant. You mean the massive push on voidstar can be mitigated with a single shadow? Not to mention taunt can be used while stealthed. I play a balance shadow and am rarely focused down. Taunts + pushes + Root and top it off with a guard and I am a mitigating machine. Do you know how many BM geared dps it takes to kill a guarded sage healer when they are all taunted? Try applying before lone wolfing every game you play.
  21. Moved to a more relevant and slower moving board.
  22. I'm currently shadow spec 7/3/31 for ops, mainly. Prior to that, I was gearing for Kinetic Combat in PVP. Since then, I've started pvp as balance and picked up a shield for survivability mixed with stalker set + off survivor off pieces to boost survivability. I've found that I have quite a lot less capability to ninja cap and have since found myself using my utilities such as root and aoe 30m for interupting as well as the usual taunting groups. I frequently pull 8-11 medals doing this and rarely am targeted due to not having a heavy burst or disrupt. The question I have for you is, what is your opinion on this build (both gear and spec) to continue into ranked in 1.2? Do you think this approach is viable as a balance shadow? If you're wondering why I'm not just KC, Id still like to dish out some damage when needed (say, pressure a healer) and keep my root and aoe.
  23. I am currently Social VI, 600 points to Social VII with a total of 5400 points. I'm trying to gather how many esseles runs it will take to hit social X. Any ideas what the cap is?
  24. Social IV leveling exclusively with my wife 1-50. A mere 20 points to Social VI with an esseles run here and there. Its not difficult, and if I applied myself I could get 2-3 levels in a day. Esseles runs until you're bored, dailies in a full group, then bonus missions while you wait for ops to start/pvp to pop. Its easy as ****.
