  1. I went with slicing mostly because I thought it felt right for an agent and enjoy playing on RP servers. (Then also took scavenging and investigation because they felt right and I wanted to make monies.)
  2. Awesome, some of those things I never realized I wanted until now but I know that delayed binding is going to be a lifesaver for me. And I love the moods, hee hee! Excited for the update!
  3. I see what you're saying but it could be he never thought he would like PVP and this endeavor showed him otherwise? I never thought I liked PVP and only started doing it in TOR to join a specific guild. Turns out I do like it quite a bit and it made me wonder what I've been missin out on all this time. Other players in the guild said the same thing as well. I don't think it's entirely unlikely that this is the case for him too. For me, the big part that stood out was that he happened upon them and wasn't out hunting for them. If he was actively searching for flagged players, especially unsuspecting ones that are fighting a mob, I would 100% agree with you.
  4. Apologies if this was said already, haven't read every post but.... Walking the promenade for the first time with Kaliyo: "Hey ugly! Pay you twenty credits to lick my feet... He'll go for it. Spot me twenty credits?"
  5. I didn't get the feeling he actively hunts for them but more-so that he happened upon them? He might very much enjoy fighting people who are ready to fight back. Unless I missed a post somewhere where he said otherwise of course. >_<
  6. I am definitely between League 2 (as I find myself with a bit of 1 and 3 mixed in.) I like to be able to solo things if I feel like it, and I like being social/chatting while doing so. I also like grouping up sometimes and having that option but it's not my preferred way to play. I'm more than happy to just run in circles on fleet and carry on conversation or to fraternize with the enemy in cantinas. I have run the occasional op for some better gear and they are fun but I would not be able to grind them constantly for gear. Same for wz's, I have certain toons I like to wz with a lot more than others but even then I don't play more than 3 or so matches in a row. I really just don't get how some people could be premiership or whatever in ANY MMO but I guess to each their own. I suppose that's why I don't understand the end game complaints either. How is gear-grinding different in any other MMO? Is it really better to be able to grind out the same 8 pvp zones over and over rather than the 4 we have currently available? I don't mean for that to sound "my way, best way" but I just don't really understand it. =) All I know is... I can't really play solo games any more because the ability to chat with others while playing (even if I'm not grouped up and am technically playing solo) is too much added fun.
  7. Yea it sounds like people are reading your messages differently than you want them to. What has worked best for me in the BH heroic and the few ops I've done is marking the mobs to be cc'd and then asking the players to choose which mark they want to have. (I like when others do this too because I like to pick star or shield for some reason.) Then it comes off as less bossy but you're still taking control of the group to make sure stupid **** doesn't happen as much. It's also nice to have one person in charge of the marking since that avoids people trying to mark the same mob.
  8. I have toons on both those servers and it's my opinion that Ebon Hawk has more RP and more players. Jung Ma seems less populated for some reason and in my experience, has more of the players that don't actually RP but like to play RP servers because of the community. However, speaking of community, Jung Ma's is pretty awesome and has a lot of high vis guilds and you can certainly find RP there. So I guess I would ask how much you focus on PVP and RP and how you feel about open world pvp? From what you've said I would kind of lean towards Ebon Hawk but if you have the time it would be best to make a toon on both and run them past the starter worlds at least to observe fleet. I've seen a lot more RP on fleet on Ebon Hawk than Jung Ma... but again, this is all just personal experience. =) EDIT: Also, still check out the server group forums to look at the different guilds on those servers. I started playing on Jung Ma just to join a guild and even though I'm not in that guild any more I have never regretted playing there... I'm just a chronic altoholic. XP
  9. Honestly, that last line right there made it totally ok in my books. Don't get me wrong, I get mad when I am ganked and I'm on Jung Ma (the RP-PVP server) lol. But holy crap... we need more bad guys in this game. I'm so sick of the care bear baddies running around that want to play through the story as a DS Sith but then don't want to act like one. BE AN EVIL JERK ONCE IN A WHILE! It livens things up a bit. Glad you had fun. And since you enjoyed the open world pvp, I would say to try out a pvp server if you have the time. It adds an extra element when you gotta watch your back and it's always more exciting to see some one of the opposite faction (even if you don't end up fighting.)
  10. I saw the movies but never was a big fan. This game has definitely made me more of a Star Wars geek and I've enjoyed learning about the SW universe.
  11. I am super amused that you were amused by it all... XD Good post, brightened up my morning a bit, heh heh!
  12. Hee hee, makes me think of mog houses in FFXI. I would like both... to decorate my starship a bit more AND to have player housing. I like the idea of having some on the core worlds but I think having the option on Nar Shaddaa would be good too for those of us that like cross-faction RP and just the overall feel of that planet. Party time! They could instance it like they do the ships. And having mini games to play in them would be fun too. Like being able to add a game table in your house. Any one in your group (thinkin a raid size max would work) can come into your instance if they choose, just like in game already. Or arcade game terminals inside would be awesome, didn't they show something like that in their April Fools video? Cracked me up but it'd be great. Especially if your first play of the day granted a daily comm (or a level-appropriate planet comm for <50.) Juke boxes too with more music options.. in your ship and in your house. XD I really hope some day it is implemented, that'd be a ton of fun.
  13. This reasoning would make a little bit of sense to me... except what about all of the character names that are going to be merged? If it was REALLY about the mergers why not make first names shareable, legacies unique, and just implement a way to view a person's legacy name when sending mail/whispers/friend requests/whatever? Last I checked 8 was a bigger number than 1 (8 toons and 1 legacy per server for any slower peeps out there.) And as another already pointed out... complain about everything indeed, including a legacy name they typed themselves? Hee hee! It really just baffles me. I had thought all this time they were working on a way for people to share legacies IF THEY WANTED. And to separate legacies if they wanted. Did they change their minds or am I just smoking crack and that was never going to happen?
  14. For me it is to experience all the content. I enjoy playing female characters because I am a fembot. But when I play through storylines that I really enjoy, I am curious to see how different the male options are. I also like an excuse to make the opposite choices at critical plot points. So I rolled up a bunch of dude toons and started going through them again. Sometimes I would also pick the opposite AC but I usually lean towards the one with a healy option. Really liked that Ken doll explanation I saw on the first page though. I used a similar description to express my love of the Sims games when a friend couldn't understand why I liked them so much. =) EDIT: Oh, the person above me answered about the same too. XP
  15. Precisely these replies. It was the final straw out of many other irksome decisions. Being on a destination server, I heard FAR more complaints about people losing their character names than I heard about legacy names being lost. Wouldn't it make more sense to have 1 unique name tie 8 shareable names together rather than 8 unique names tied to 1 shareable? I am upset about it because it seems like the easier route but not the right route. I am upset about being completely blindsided by it. (Seriously, who saw that coming?) Other aspects of this game were upsetting but I kept paying and playing because it was worth it to me. ~180 dollars have gone from my pocket into this game and that doesn't bother me because I enjoyed it. However, I don't feel like paying another 15 dollars to it. When things I want to pay for are implemented, I'll gladly pay for them. Until then, I'll be one of those free-to-play monstrosities they seem to be trying so hard to please. D:
  16. Only quoted that part but your entire post was excellent. Thank you for explaining it so much better than I ever could.
  17. Indeed. Hopefully for them, there will be more people happy to get lost legacy names back than there will be people upset to "lose" their current names. No matter what, trying to be fair to one group is being unfair to another... and trying to make the entire game "fair" is going to leave all of us blind, deaf and dumb.
  18. For me, it wasn't about being "a unique snowflake," although that didn't hurt. It was nice to have a single name to tie all my characters to the player behind the screen. From an RP standpoint, I used it as a surname for the members that were actually related, and used it as a title for those that were merely allies or rivals. I would block players with legacy names I recognized as trolls or hateful jerks and enjoyed running into my Pub guildies on the Imp Fleet, only recognizing each other via legacies. Yea, some jerks could just hide their legacy, big deal. And I always hoped they would add the legacy name as viewable to your friends list and ignore list although I suppose that'd be pointless now... The problem I have with it is that I feel like they care more about bringing back players who unsubbed, rather than keeping the players who have remained subbed. I've been subbed since launch and I love this game. But this is not the first time they've done something to make me feel like a 2nd class citizen to the unsubbers. I can't truly blame them, they're trying to make money and maybe that's where the money is. But it sucks for me and it was the straw that broke the trooper's back. I went ahead and unsubbed. Are they going to go, "OMG! SHE LEFT?! WE MUST GET HER BACK!"? No, of course not. And they're only losing out on like 30 bucks from me because I will be back when it goes F2P. But I am one person and I care about what I like. Hopefully their goals will again line up with mine and I will gladly give them some more of my money at that point. "Zomg, server queues?! We need MOAR servers!" "Zomg, dead servers?! We need mergers!" "Zomg, mergers?! The game is dying! RUN TO GW2!" "Zomg, mergers?! I lost my names! Make them not unique!" I don't envy them... but when will it stop? D:
  19. That was exactly my thought as well. Very confusing. My hope for this is that they are going to make legacies account-wide instead of server-wide, and in that case I guess I could see the desire for them to not be unique? Not sure. The idea of them being because of forced transfers is silly and I really hope that's not the case. I do find it funny that to complain or say you don't like something is suddenly considered raging. I'm not raging about it, I'm just a little miffed. o_O
  20. I freakin love this game too! I have been playing since launch and very rarely visit the forums because of all the hate. I am so confused when people complain about lack of content at 50. In what MMO is there something besides grinding for gear/money after hitting max level??? Because if there is more, I want to try that game. To be fair, I haven't played too many MMO's. FFXI, Aion, Rift, WoW and now this. I think it's a great game but I do agree there are things that could be improved. My biggest peeve is how much emphasis and reward there is for rolling alts (chronic altoholic here,) but a limit of 8 toons per server. I know they plan to increase it but that was a pretty silly flaw to start with. This game actually made me a Star Wars fan. Until I played this, my favorite Star Wars things were the Family Guy movies. =p I actually think one of their other flaws is pandering too much to the community. People freaked out and cried over server queues, so they launch a ton more servers... then people freaked out and cried that their servers were dead, so they merged and closed servers and now people are whining and crying over that. Plus that made people think, "Zomg the game is dying!" *sigh* There is no winning with that crowd, lol. Besides getting more slots per server I cannot WAIT until they get the casinos going (supposedly that's gonna happen?) I really hope they bring in some fun mini games and betting games. It's just important to remember, people are gonna come here to complain a lot more often than the happy players will come to express their enjoyment. =)
  21. I thought it was Mufasa at first, lol. It's absolutely amazing! I loooooved hearing it. Fem trooper is great too.
  22. I wish this was real... Sims meets TOR... lmfao! Love you Bioware!
  23. I dunno if you're tracking when people quote you or not but... you are really misinterpreting the family tree in that image. =) The top two men are connected as brothers. The woman is connected to the brother on the left as an ally. She is married to the man to the right of her. The player is adding the children of the married couple. As for the 4 men and still have children... I don't know for sure but I would assume you could do that since any one of those men could go knock some random woman up. I doubt we'll have to make BOTH parents as characters before being able to add a child in the mix, especially considering there's only 8 slots per server. D: Hope this helps!
  24. THIS SO MUCH!!! I am ridiculously excited for the legacy system. But 8 characters per server is completely absurd. Either give us more (at least 12 per server imo) or give us the option to have our legacy be account wide (and maybe just take away the unique factor if you have to.) Something, I don't really care... just let me have a bigger family tree than 8. Overall though, that is my only complaint and I will love the crap out of this system regardless of what happens with the number limitation.
  25. That is some wicked data! Thank you. And yes, I will keep in mind margins for error and times. I didn't quite have those kinds of details but I did know making a decision merely off of light/standard wasn't wise, hee hee. Part of the problem is I would rarely be on during peak hours so I think regardless of server I would be at a lower chance of meeting up with people randomly. I will slowly work on a character on each to try and get an overall feel for them... plus there's a lot of other stuff to consider besides the pop, like overall community and activities. In that regard, so far, it seems like Sanctum is rockin it. I would like to help with the survey with both LA info and Jung Ma (main server) info to help out the data collection if that's cool. Thanks again for the response too!
