  1. Who is going to complain about imbalance in pve? the mobs? anyways the scrapper spec for scoundrels isnt even the one you should be pveing in. If you want to actually do competitive sustained damage you would go into the dot spec which I dont believe is affected by the nerf(correct me if im wrong). As a valor 62, with a large amount of my guild being battlemaster as well, I believe every class is balanced in their own right. I think the scrapper scoundrel spec should have had their opener damage reduced by 30% and nothing else nerfed at all. I am very capable of competing with the good scoundrels in my guild as a guardian. The reason why nerfs are called out is because people dont know their place in a team. People go to 1v1 a scoundrel and then they die and come whine... yet thats what scoundrels are designed to do. They dont deal massive sustained damage, they have a high frequency burst but thats easy to manage in team fights, and easy to avoid in solo play. The fact is you shouldnt engage that class 1v1, they arent OP when you accept that their functionality is to beat you 1v1. Much like a guardian can **** hutball with their leaps, each class has their function, its just that people are more butthurt when they are soloed than when a guardian scores a goal. Except for hardcore pvpers, thats because they are good and to be good you have to understand the principle of a class role in pvp.
  2. Nice video and efficient use of a class. I see a lot of people here coming and hating on the OP saying "all you did was use all the tools the game offers you, you suck". Fact is the skill cap on this game is VERY LOW. There is nothing a player could record while playing SWTOR that would impress anyone else because theres really not much to do. Efficient use of skills? Your just abusing a class Big numbers? You are just abusing gear What do you guys want him to record? some guy running off to an empty point on alderaan and capping it because thats smart objective play? that craps boring to watch. The OP is clearly one of the better players of his class and instead of bashing on him you could try and perhaps deal half the damage he does, people might actually even get better if they tried!
  3. Yea the dots are depressing, it clogs my screen up with crappy "150" so much that I feel like the dots make my damage less I just put the dot points into the master strike being reset talent for pve. If the dots got their damage tripled then that would be something worth using.
  4. Well ye I forgot the cooldown from 21 was reduced to 18, however stasis is only every minute not 30s. I think its more that even if the force sweep is ready to use you have to wait till that right moment. Often times I found myself waiting with force sweep as 2 people were running by to land the sweep on 3 people. The effective use however is not every 9s for sure. http://i.imgur.com/JCrEA.jpg I did that with the focus spec without a might stim( was using a fortitude one didnt have any alloys yet), in soresu form, in centurion gear, and while stacking surge relic and adrenal not knowing how the stats work. I was even using a shield during that match. Granted that was pre 1.1 clearly but I was by no means one of the people who rushed 50 on my server so I wasnt uber geared. Suffice to say I know quite a lot about focus spec and infact played it from 50 untill 3 days ago. I think if I respecced to focus now I could hit 500k quite easily. But I mean I just mean to prove that both specs are viable.
  5. Im not sure why you assume guardians can burst every 9s, the cool down of the skill is 9s but the burst is not. Force exhaustion has a ~ 20s cool down and force stasis is ~ 1 min, thats 4 sets of singularity a minute thus the burst is every 15s. Secondly force sweep is very vulnerable to knockbacks because of the bad animation, I miss maybe 1/5th of my force sweeps, which is still a decent amount. The fact is good players dont ball up in large amounts. Premades will never ball up against you and allow you to deal such damage, and really vs equally geared players force sweep will deal 4.5k unbuffed, thats hardly a "aoe" burst as thats only 1/3rd of peoples health bars. I dont think 2 focus gaurdians will always beat 2 vigilance specced guardians, that is an opinion of each that we cannot prove, frankly if I can do matches of 440k damage single target you can expect my single target damage to be super high. And while it was a voidstar which allows high stats lets face it, voidstar favors aoe. If your posting screenshots of 500k in voidstar using aoe that hardly compares to 440k in a single target spec, not even remotely close. Finally I really doubt zealous leap compares to unremitting. The 10m leap doesnt really allow jumping to ledges so you would have to force leap to someone near the goal line, then use zealous leap. And good players save their CC for players near a goal line, a 10% heal of a 2min cool down resolute is hardly the kind of utility I need, thats on average a 1.6k heal not 3k, unless it crits. You cant compare this to leaping, using force push and leaping again. Thats 8s of 20% damage reduction and CC immunity through unremitting, easily the best to carry a ball. Lets not forget vigilance gives 4% damage reduction. 4% more health, guardian leap applies its protection to you, awe has its cool down reduced to 30s. Thats the kind of utility vigilance gives which together add up. Those who spec the dots will find that their strength is also in keeping players from stealthing near nodes in a 1v1 capture attempt.
  6. http://knotor.com/skills#AgIFIQPL2gkrMkJJWnN5iZKjsrrL09rL I run that spec but its my kind of "everything in one" spec so that I can pve as well. I run nightmare mode raids in that spec and I believe I am the highest dps on our team, I have stolen agro on gharj from our tank in nightmare. http://i.imgur.com/fqWxx.jpg http://i.imgur.com/zjrrH.jpg - this being done with me forgetting to use my rakata stim. I have also done my shares of 500k in focus spec, but I mean if I can get 440k in vigilance spec, surely somewhere along the lines, the spec is comparing. When I play with my premades and people focus fire my targets I kill anything I want in 3s and I can repeat over and over. Then when I go into hutball with unremitting I can solo win us the match. Everyone prefers their own playstyle I just feel they are both quite viable and should be regarded as such, the focus spec is not some super strong OP spec when I can only get 50k more damage than with vigilance on single targets. Edit: That spec isnt even optimized. I dont know whether the dots add much but I get 440k without speccing optimal damage with the 2 dots in vigilance. I keep master strike for pve bosses because I cant afford respecs. Saving 2.5million to get the mount.
  7. Yes except for one thing, in a premade, having 2 burst based characters is not as effective as having 2 sustained high dps which focus fire to replicate a burst. If 2 characters can burst every 20s, thats a burst every 10s, where as sustained fire can kill every 5s. Effectively focus vs good players and in your own premade is not as good as vigilance. Not to mention remitted is more effective for objective play. When ranked warzones come in you will see that vigilance is the better spec, only now because people are pugging etc and want medals does focus look good.
  8. http://i.imgur.com/fqWxx.jpg Got this today, 440k, 30k prot as a vigilance spec. I dont even have any battlemaster gear yet despite being valor 62. With the battlemaster gear I believe I can hit 500k, as a single target vigilance spec, this spec is entirely viable. Whether you prefer soresu or shien is up to the individual but to say vigilance has no place in pvp is to be absolutely clueless.
  9. Honestly vigilance is more than viable im pvp and will win hutball matches single handedly. Heres just what I did today with the spec: http://i.imgur.com/zjrrH.jpg I also noticed after the match and you can tell if you look very closely at the color of my buffs, that a red color buff is missing. Basically I didnt use my rakata stim that entire match so with it I could have hit 450k damage.

You played hutball. You lost the match. You did 0 protection. Did it not occur once, to either guard/taunt to aid the ball carrier, or try carrying the ball yourself? Herpderpaoe
  11. I am by no means saying healing needs nerfing, its perfectly fine as is. But I keep seeing this argument come up over and over and frankly its a retarded one. Healing is not "nerfed" by 30%. Its simply a check to keep the healing values logical, the base values on heal spells are designed to be high so they work in raids vs Nightmare Mode bosses and such, the 30% pvp heal reduction is merely a sanity check, not a "gimp" to healing. By the same argument that all healers say "healing is nerfed 30%" I think "my damage is nerfed 30%" because people wear armor and that mitigates my damage. It is just not a valid point.
  12. Are you trying to make a point? You got 500k damage in a game with your biggest hit at 5.5k or so which doesnt relate to my 6.8k comment. I have done 500k damage games in vigilance spec so if thats a brag I hardly care. Your 2nd screenshot shows an exact 7000 crit, whereas I said my max has been 6800 off someones bar after the nerf, so you did 200 more than my max and all of a sudden you have an argument? WUTLOL I know you have been trying really hard to make a point about the focus spec but your post was a terrible response. Do us a favor and stop posting with such a condescending attitude, you are hardly special.
  13. You wont be doing anything above a 4.5k crit with a shield and soresu form. While nyan is targetting a 50 in the screenshot that isnt a player he hit, Im fairly certain all the players around him are sub 50 since nyan rushed 50 and I think that screenshot was taken before the game was officially released, not many 50s by then. That picture also has an adrenal, stacked with red buff, stacked with the expertise buff, something not possible at all any more. ALthough that doesnt mean soresu is a bad option, you can run each depending on the situation and what your team needs of you.
  14. Thats misinformed, the 10k crit was not on a level 50 at all and not a BH. It was on a lowbie probably a cloth wearer and maybe between level 10-20 judging by the lack of a guild. I mean its clear to anyone that it wasnt the BH being hit because thats 14,000 damage and the BH he has targeted is on 9k/16k health. Not to mention it shows the 10k crit on the dead corpse infront of him. This doesnt change that guardians can do good dps but I dont want people spreading misinformed comments around the forums, if you dont know how to read a screenshot then dont go posting.
  15. Yes because it doesnt take a geared jedi guardian to do the same with force sweep amirite?! As a battlemaster jedi guardian, and a pver with 3/5 rakata and 1900 strength when buffed, I havent seen anything above a 6.8k crit on nor a player nor a boss.
  16. One of the greatest player initiatives I have seen thus far with regards to this game. Several ideas presented by Aneu enable the open world pvp to develop into an enjoyable and competitive atmosphere which will retain its player base for months to come. Open world pvp is for many the thing that keeps them playing. Pve and warzones are okay at the start but open world pvp makes or breaks a good game. Honestly I have nothing more to add to Aneu's suggestions as a lot of effort was put into the idea. Mods please sticky this.
  17. At around 85% I would prob start speccing more into power to be honest, or at least thats how I have done it. I get 370 bonus damage with 85% crit multiplier.
  18. I respecced to vigil because focus lacked utility compared to vigil. The number of hutball games I have won because I could leap with unremitting, vigilance is no doubt the spec to play for objectives for, between leaping effectively and having sustained damage to focus fire. I no longer need to play for medals so while I dont get 11 medals because of heal medal and 5k crit medal I win my matches and my team mates and half of republic thank me for it. Rank 61. With regards to the question about soresu, yes you are hit heavily by not being in shien, I swap to soresu for objective plays such as protecting a ball carrier etc, I dont play as a tank per say, although I use my taunts on cool down. Basically in vigilance I am the best melee dps you can have in this game, I can put out insane sustained damage, get 300k damage easily, while being awesome for hutball, being heavy armor and taunting. It allows me to be the ideal mdps to run in a premade no questions asked. I retain that focus is for pug low level play, opponent premades will not let you "burst" their healers, and being a one trick pony if your combo doesnt work out you have to wait 20 seconds.
  19. The problem is in more competitive matches, you need things like unremitting to win games of hutball properly. Vigilance has more utility and in real pvp when its premade vs premade to "win" you need the utility to play for objectives, but your scoreboard numbers will look poor. I can easily own people with my 6k force sweeps but good players know how to knock me back at the right times and keep me away from my desired targets. Basically vigilance is better in premades when you play to win and are in a premade who focuses your target. Sustained damage alone is weak, but when supported by say a sage its stronger than solo burst damage, since 2 targets with sustained damage can burst single players constantly whereas 2 burst based characters can only burst 2 players every 20s each by virtue of burst cool downs. Its just that in focus, you can get the heal medal from resolute, guard medals, 5k crit medals etc basically I can get 12 medals easily, vigilance is more like 8 medals, but since im battlemaster I just play to win and dont care what a scoreboard says and for that vigilance is better.
  20. I see 2 things. Focus spec is really good because it allows you to be able to play in tank stance, the spec doesnt use up a ton of focus so you can play in soresu and thus use guard which is crucial in pve. If you are going to play a proper vigilance dps you need all the focus and soresu just isnt plausible. I say plasma brand be taken down to 4 focus and overhead smash to 3 focus, perhaps even plasma brand at 3 focus as well. Secondly there is quite a bit of emphasis on master strike in the dps spec. There needs to be some way to make master strike viable in pvp. I say some perk such as the dot for blade storm should be changed instead to allow master strike to root the target. Frankly there are several other classes that get a root and I think of all, a tank should have access to one. However this may just be too OP, so allowing you to move while casting master strike might be a better alternative for the sake of balance.
  21. Its quite easy to do both, any competent player doesnt struggle much. There are intense games where you are forced to only heal but in such games simply winning should be good enough and they arent the norm. Tanks get medals my guarding, which causes them to take damage and die faster which they will in a dps spec. That or they have to use taunts, which means they are using a global cooldown and thus not dealing damage. The cost for tanks is very similar to that of healers, except the tank medals are a bit easier to proc, then again, getting 10k protection in 1 life without a healer is nothing simple, especially if you are in the fray and dpsing at the same time. Thus getting medals as a dps tank is equivalent to getting medals as a healer. For each you have to do a bit out of your regular rotation but it isnt difficult NOR is it counter productive. Damage is damage and if it contributes to killing an opponent thats damage mitigation by virtue of the attacker being dead. Fact is people who are pushing 400-500k are simply padding bars, they arent actually focusing their heals on those in need of heals or focus fire, simply they find a target who is low on health but actually in a safe position, then heal them and say "we need to do this or we shall lose" which isnt true because said player wasnt in danger anyways. Its one thing to heal crap, its another to heal people who actually need heals, and frankly you can easily damage to 75k while saving peoples lives.
  22. God forbid people can put hard work into a hobby, that is not at all a plausible idea.
  23. It really really isnt that bad. There are a few cases of bad luck which people come here to report but the gear is piss easy to get. Im valor rank 60 and heck I dont even have the chest piece or belt, but im not going to complain about it. I got a majority of the set in like 2 weeks which seems reasonable. The dude in the video is valor 38, heck I think champ gear should be a min of valor 50 to equip and maybe all these kiddies would quit complaining about "bla bla valor 10 friend got full set bla bla".
  24. Dont know what everyone is on about. It is the mirror of the Jedi Guardian skill "Awe" and frankly this animation is quite annoying. Although its not even that which annoys me, its that Bioware sat down and "thought" about this and then stealth implemented for no reason what so ever than to make empire look "cooler" and given all the animation fail in this game, its quite possible republic have to get cced for a longer duration though thats very hard to tell.
  25. Yea just have expertise a constant fixed value which is high enough to dissuade the difference in stats between rakata and battlemaster. I think the current 50 expertise for battlemaster is ideal as that would be the most needed to balance out top end gear such as rakata. Then between the tier 1 tier 2 and tier 3 pvp sets just have the raw stats increase while expertise is constant. Also make the tier 1 pvp gear easy to access and voila, this whole issue is fixed. This fix will be good enough temporarily until a ranking system is implemented as promised which further allows fair competition.
