  1. He wasn't really debating my opinion. He can think his class is OP or under-powered for all I care. But telling me I am wrong and I know nothing is different.
  2. So alluding to an event, that I could have seen or done to prove a point, automatically says "I have only played this class for ten minutes?" Please. Get over yourself. My toon could be level 50 for all you know. But you don't, so stop speaking out of your bum before you keep looking like an idiot.
  3. You people are the problem with the forums. People come here for a decent conversation and then you jump in with your know-it-all attitude. Do you know how long I've played these classes? Do you know what level they are or what valor they are? No! In fact, I gave you none of that information on purpose so no one can make such a ludicrous claim, but it seems I may have misjudged. you somehow cam to a magical three days and claim it to be true. What an idiot. Edit: Ignored.
  4. User doesn't realize it was a story and that I may or may not be a Vanguard at all times. Moving along. Or even level 13 for that matter XD
  5. It seems that these days, you can find someone QQing about this or that on the PvP forums. Some are, however, easier to find than others. For instance, there are usually two or more people at once asking for a nerf for the Sage/Sorc class for it being "OP.” On the other hand, you rarely see anything talking about my class, the Powertech/Vanguard [i put Powertech first because it comes first alphabetically] - except for today. I have read and watched how each class has gotten its thread for either a buff or a nerf (again, not much for the powertech/vanguard). So, as I sit here and ponder all that has been said, I've come to a conclusion for myself and our class. We are balanced - not too much DPS and not too much Tank to keep us going. If you want to use the Scientific Theory, my hypothesis is that we are balanced and that the forums will test that. In-game data, however, can be rough so we shall keep it as a hypothesis. I then decided to try a variety of other classes in PvP. So far, I have experienced: Assassin/Shadow Gunslinger/Sniper Operative/Scoundrel Commando/Mercenary Four guys each going only through PvP. With all this time in PvP, I will address my views on the Knight/Warrior and the Sage/Sorc. This opinion will come from my many fights with them in PvP. First let me start with the Agent/Smuggler seeing as how I have played both AC. This class is squishy - it has low survivability and prefer to never go into a fight on common ground. That is where the two classes come in: Gunslinger/Sniper has the ability to burst the enemy from an extra 5 meters away and use its explosives and roots to keep the enemy at bay. I was level 13 playing a Gunslinger/Sniper on Alderaan. A level 47 Knight/Warrior chased me down to create a 1v1 (with both on even ground). Step 1: I used 8-second stun. Setup cover, activated explosive that blows up with damage, and activated massive damage hit. Step 2: Enemy was out of cc. Still in cover. Rooted them. Two more hits in with crits. Step 3: Enemy is coming at full force. Dropped a PvP expertise, melee cc. Unloaded. Enemy dead. The sniper has THREE cc's that can really change the battle in a 1v1. Again, it was all strategy. Now to the Operative/Scoundrel. They are also squishy, but they have stealth. WE WANT TO FIGHT THE BATTLE ON OUR TERMS. I cannot stress this enough. They have invisibility for a reason: to make the fight tilt in their favor. However, they have their limitations. Trying to 1v1 a Knight/Warrior at full health will lead you to your doom. Why not help a teammate instead? Pick off healers or DPSers who seem too busy. You can get their attention away from the fray and on you, which can help your team out as a whole. Now on to the Commando/Mercenary. This is usually what the QQ is all about: This attack is not OP. Mind you, I raised both a Commando and Mercenary to the Mid 30's. Both of them went up Arsenal/Gunnery - the spec everyone hates. This, however, is the epitome of specialization. They specialize all of their points into being a glass cannon. <----- Read that again.... A glass cannon. Movement? Nope. Survivability? Nope. Damage? Absolutely. Now do you see why they need that damage? As that class, they cannot do anything else. One good interrupt - be it a stun, push back, or anything that can stop the charge - will mess them up bad. And everyone gets an interrupt that prevents a skill for four seconds! Right there is a Commando’s/Mercenary’s 9th level of hell. The best part is seeing them stand there for a second wondering why it won't work. Now onto the Assassin/Shadow: they can stealth, force sprint, and tank. They can hit high numbers if you let them behind you. If not, they do sub par at best. They also are average tanks in my opinion. Melee is better for that. Now about the Sage/Sorc: These guys need what they have. I love finding them alone trying to do something from long range and, in a split second, half their health is gone. These guys are squishier than jello on a summer’s day. Can’t we give them some survivability? And about their CC's: depending on your class, they do not mean much. Tank? Let them run out and then release the Kracken - you can take the hit. DPS? Why the hell did you let them get that close in the first place? To Marauders/Sentinels, you guys do get the bad end of the stick here because you have to be close. About melee: I have no opinion. The class I run is supposed to be short ranged but I don't always have to be there. You guys do. /end-opinion Everyone is going to have their opinion on who is the strongest and who needs a swing of the nerf bat and there are times when people want the buff. It is understandable. Problem: SW:ToR is not a run and gun game. PvP is all about strategy: coming in at the right angles, using abilities at the right time, paying attention to resource management, using your adrenals, having the required armor for your play style, etc. It is influenced by everything but in the end, the most important thing is skill. The knowledge of your class and every other class involved. So the next time you think a class needs a nerf, I suggest that you go and play the class, learn the strengths and weaknesses of said class, and then exploit that on any other toon. This is similar to American Football: watching the game tape of the other team can let you know their tendencies. For those who took the time to read all of this, I thank you. For those who decide they need to argue with me that I am wrong, then prepare to be ignored on the forums by me. I am not up to debating my opinions. EDIT: Added melee. Completely forgot.
  6. Just think, once they fix cover, we will be unstoppable!
  7. True bounty hunter who runs Carolina Parakeet here. I recommend that you do not really deviate from the build. The build has been tested many a times and the only one I can see to be plausible it to take the points that make HIB 40% ignorant of armor, and make Stock strike's crit damage go up. Other than that, stay to it, and watch the hopeless burn. On the name note, Trungalung and chainsawsamurai were the first to officially run the build. If you find the name dumb, wait till you meet them in person. No burst class has ever taking me down within 10 seconds. Mostly, they die.
  8. There are definitive bugs in it that need to be fixed. There are times when it works fine, but times when it seems like it isn't working at all. I think resolve should prevent all movement impairing effects (okay you can keep slow), because I don't think it is fair for the other guy at full resolve to be stunned by my Jet Charge. I was once at full resolve and guess what.... i couldn't move for ten seconds and then I died. Tell me how that works? Again, it works sometimes, and then it doesn't. If BW could get rid of the faulty parts, I'd be happy. Archetype: Tank/DPS Melee/Range Opinion: Needs fixing for the random bugs
  9. I run a CP. I am interested in where you put those two extras... can you actually name it please or link your build?
  10. I'm going to have to disagree with a lot of people in this thread...but here we go. Note: I am talking from a PvP standpoint and a Pyrotech was my first choice. I first grew into Pyrotech when I made my PT and realized I did have a death machine. I could run circles around people while flaming them to death. However, I didn't like the rate that I was dying at and I was only good for 1v1. I could get 12 medals like on guy here with constant attacking and taunting, but I really only stand-out if we were playing team death match. That is when I made the move to Carolina Parakeet. My DPS was perfect to me. My survivability sky rocketed. I thought I was now a better player all-around thanks to this build. (The thing you guys forget is that CP is a TANK build that can do DPS.) PvP to me is not about killing 70 people and doing 300k damage a round or trying to get 10+ medals. (I average 8 per round.) It is all about winning. I get more awards and recognition for winning. I can now guard my teammates in a crisis or any game-type where a certain player can change the tide (aka healers or my pocket DPS). Of course, jet Charge allowed me to get around much quicker to enemies, not just used for Huttball. As a pyrotech, 2v1 was my nightmare. They would kill me easily. I was like a toy. With CP, I could keep four guys on me and kill at least one. I became a distraction for the opponent. They wanted to kill me. Well I think I did a good job of distracting . The true point I am trying to make is what type of player are you? Depending on that can determine what class is better, to you; and to me, CP is much better.
  11. I kick so much *** with this in Tank mode. Onward men!
  12. The animation of more dying at your feet is better.
  13. Plus with the added 70% bypass for Rail Shot and the DoT, makes a very nice build. Can deal out the damage needed. Also that Rail Shot can become free with your main attack is even better.
  14. No problem. Now go kick ***. Remember: Rocket Punch is your true opener Rail Shot often Flame Burst if Rocket Punch and Rail Shot are down. Brings back Rail. Stay on Ion. Brings back rocket. Use guard on others. helps them and you as a whole. Always use your shield and kolto overload. Works like a charm. Drop your DoT! Manage heat properly. Always keep moving. These are just a few off the top of my head.
  15. I recommend the Carolina Parakeet under powertech. It is a hybrid shield tech and pyro and is VERY mobile. They are tanks who actually deal damage. They get a 70% armor bypass for railshot. Look it up.
  16. Carolina Parakeet. Do it. Now. The best hybrid and you get the best of both worlds.
  17. I don't always quit warzones, but when I do, I go and QQ.
  18. This game is centered around PvE and your story. The fastest way to level is by going through that. They will never raise it so your best bet is to just keep playing and doing FP if it makes you feel better. Dailies give a lot of exp.
  19. I don't think anyone has actually questioned BW directly on this so I doubt BW has said anything on it. I am at work so I cannot play and give actual in-game. Sorry :/ This is the best I can give you: Torhead guard I may be confused though. Are you talking about the ability actually mitigating 50% or that you can affect that 50% with your own abilities?
  20. It kicks *** no? If we are talking about the Guard skill itself, it does mitigate 50% of damage to yourself. This damage then acts like its own attack on you. So your armor to skills active will determine its amount of damage to you.
  21. I have this weird feeling you are a PT Advanced Prototype. They are good DPS but not that great in terms of PvP. WHat you are looking for in a guy in PvP is these three things: Survivability Damage Output Mobility These three things, if used, can turn a noob into a pretty good fighting machine. This in the hand of a pretty good player can turn him into a God; the exact reason I switched from Merc Arsenal to my current build of PT. I use the Carolina Parakeet, the only one I know to use it on my server, and my offense and defense are unimaginable. My rocket punch does 1.5k per hit and every time I shield an attack, rocket punch comes back. Rocket punch activates my Ion cylinder which allows me to use Rail Shot. Another 1.5-2k right there. Rocket Punch and Flame Burst both have a chance to make rail shot cool down and become free. Another FREE rail shot! Don't forget to add in an explosive dart and the DoT in the Pyro tree with a little autofire skill, and my offense can take on any level (except 50). I also can utilize my grapple and Jet charge in Huttball to my advantage to help my team objectively or hinder the other team. Also with Ion cylinder, my armor is increased by 60% and all damage recieved is reduced by 5%. I can also guard teammates, redirecting 50% of damage to me, which I also negate with Ion cylinder. Drop the shield and Kolto Overload and I am a walking tank of destruction. On average I get 6-9 medals, depending on how much I guard. Learn your class young padawan, and expect great things.
  22. I completely disagree. I am a Powertech and if I do not get Unbeatable in my first life, I either did something wrong or I was solely picked out to kill. My attacks create a lot of burst w/o the use of DoTs. If you want to prove me wrong, we can always duel.
  23. PvP armor has certain set bonuses to it as you know. When will we as a community be able to remove the mods in them to another set for aesthetic value, and still retain the set bonus from the previous?
