  1. So melee characters like mine with instant action abilities are supposed to go attack, pause, attack, pause, attack? Nice thinking, Sherlock.
  2. BW had the option to do this earlier today when they took down the servers to hotfix Ilum. But they didn't bother. That says it all right there....
  3. It's actually so mindblowing I have to repeat myself: Since BW took down the servers anyway (to patch Ilum) they could easily have reverted the UI. But they chose not to. What the f.......
  4. ^ This. I would like to add that since the servers went down anyway (to patch Ilum) BW could easily have reverted the UI. But they chose not to. And that tells you everything you need to know about them right there. They don't care.
  5. From the 'Things to come' video that I saw a while ago their interpretation of UI customization is moving **** around on your screen and making it bigger or smaller. That is not UI customization as we know it nor will it fix the current UI. I haven't played in almost 3 days except a Warzone here and there. I can't. How do BW address the issue of players currently being unable to play due to feeling ill as a direct result of the new UI? Do they rollback the UI? Reintroduce it after some minor tweaking (can impossible take longer than a day)? Nah, they patch Ilum(!) and go 'someday...' *** BW, once again you fail at basic communication and validation skills, could you possible screw your player base more? How does an Ilum patch help all of those who can't play because your flashy cluster**** of an UI is messing up players peripheral vision? Ilum was your first priority? Really? I called it yesterday, still, it just goes on to show how utterly clueless you are as a MMO developer. Since the servers are going down anyway, how hard is it to revert the UI? It isn't, unless you don't want to. So much for the poll and caring. GW2 open beta invites are 3 weeks away and TERA goes live in May. Let's see how many subs you'll have by then. At this rate? Just the fanboys. And I'm not talking about the Star Wars ones.
  6. Finally some feedback. Thank you very much! Maybe now is the time for the player base to come up with a couple of suggestions? Seriously, this is not a difficult issue to resolve at all, the year is 2012 and we've had working MMO UIs since... 1999?
  7. I'm gonna spell this out real slow so Ray, Greg, Gabe, James and all the other lead developers at BW understand it loud and clear: "Having your peripheral vision bombard you with flashing hotbars from left, right and bottom part of your screen is not good for your health and can cause serious physical illness." Thank you for reading!
  8. Adapting to what, headache and nausea? I've yet to play more than 30 mins since yesterday. Let me spell it out for you: having your peripheral vision bombard you with flashing lights from left, right and bottom part of your screen is not good for your health and can cause serious physical illness. Thank you for the feedback, bro.
  9. Once upon a time there was a game called TOR v1.0, its UI was the same as most MMOs and everything was fine. Or was it? A few players (as in, a single page, not 200) reported issues with the GCD. The makers of mighty TOR were all worried as the game was only one month old and keeping players subscribed is the key to success whether your MMO is titled TOR, Rift or Wow. So, how did the makers respond to this? Instead of carrying out their responsibility as developers and do a proper job they just went 'screw this, make all icons lit 24/7.' Problem solved. That change became known as the 1.1.1 patch. It introduced another problem, the fact that you could no longer tell if abilities on long CD had come off CD and were ready to use as ability icons were now lit nonstop and with only a few seconds remaining the CD fader was not visible, causing confusion amongst both the Republic and Empire alike. Once again, how did BW respond to this? This is the funny part as any philosopher can go on and on for hours about the irony of history and how it always tend to repeat itself. Long story short, instead of BW doing their job they once more relied on 'screw this' and gave us what is now a cluster**** of a UI. Imagine all the nagging and trouble spared if BW had only bothered to carry out their job as developers the first time around. Morale of the story is: Never go 'screw this' when you can carry out a proper job.
  10. Hahaha, 100 bucks says that the poll will stay there all week long. FFS.....
  11. I never said that everybody agrees with me, I just stated my personal opinion as Sentinel. Your question was an open one to Sentinels, wasn't it? Go back 50 pages or so and you'll find a previous reply by me stating that if you like the new UI then all the power to you. Now, get off your high horse, will you?
  12. No: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZulDrYZ4CY0 Take a step back and look at the video in full HD. All you can perceive off your peripheral vision is a cluster**** of blue lights flashing nonstop. Even more confusing, take a look at icons 5 and 6 here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZulDrYZ4CY0#t=00m20s 5 will come off CD and light up while 6 is on CD. Can you tell the difference? All I perceive off the corner of my eye is a blue icon next to another blue icon. Talk about hideous design... Nor do I hardly ever reach a stage where my icons are lit at all, most of the time during combat they just stay greyed out. Nice one, BW!
  13. Still no reply? Wow, how many movies do I have to watch? lol
  14. Tbh, I think the devs are more worried about fixing the Ilum issue. Heck, even the 'How come old patch notes are always mixed in with new' issue has been given more acknowledgment from BW. Talk about getting your priorities straight.
  15. He shouldn't be posting on Twitter but here, as in, official forums. So much for respecting your player base.
  16. BW could have kept the previous UI and just added the same flash they introduced with this patch to abilities that went off CD, as in, have an icon flash as soon as an ability is once more ready to use - that would have fixed the problem with the previous UI and peeps not knowing if abilities on long cooldowns were in fact off CD or not. But no, that would be too simple for BW, can't have any of that. Just like, instead of properly fixing a tiny GCD bug back in January they decided to go 'screw it, just make all icons constantly lit' instead. There are so many ways to do proper UI and hotbars yet BW just make things worse with every single patch. So much for 'developers' - more like tech monkeys randomly calling ****.
  17. Screw this, just received a GW2 beta press invite. Non-press aka open beta invites will go out in less than a month (March). CU BW.
  18. Stop talking out of yer arse, the entire new UI reeks of fail, the main problem being that it is messing up player's peripheral vision. Please, do us a favor and go read any of the 200 pages in General Discussion regarding the issue.
  19. You just answered your own question. Most of the "explosions, blaster fire zipping by, glowsticks whipping around" are all - as stated by you - "in your face" while the GUI and hotbars are part of your peripheral vision (also known as side vision). There is a big medical difference between having stuff flash in your face and having four - 4 - hotbars flash and bombard you every 1.5 seconds from both left, right and bottom part of your screen. It's a visual disturbance that can easily cause migraines, seizures and at worst, even the loss of sight. Look up the word aura or google "peripheral vision" and "flashing lights." I would also like to point out the following about peripheral vision, taken from the Wikipedia entry: Peripheral vision: Functions The main functions of peripheral vision are[1]: * recognition of well-known structures and forms with no need to focus by the foveal line of sight. * identification of similar forms and movements (Gestalt psychology laws) * delivery of sensations which form the background of detailed visual perception. The current UI fail at all that and more. Having all four hotbars flash every 1.5 seconds does not help one recognize well-known shapes and forms (why pretty much every MMO out there utilizes circular/clockwise faders and/or numeric countdowns and offer a clear distinction between lit and greyed out icons). Nor does it allow for the identification of similar forms and movements as all we got now are a lot of flashing + a cluster**** of different shades of greyed out icons. If you're a one trick ponny/1-button class or non-melee and don't trigger abilities nonstop then all the power to you. But to every serious PvPer out there and/or melee user who is constantly using his or hers instant action abilities you're pretty much screwed by the new UI. To make things worse, a blue CD fader over blue icons (if you're Republic) doesn't help (how hard is it to use any other color than red and blue, say yellow?) and neither does the fact that the icons no longer are lit as soon as the GCD is over. They gradually fade back to being lit AFTER the GCD is over and if you're serious about PvP or use abilities nonstop you actually never get to the point where the icons are lit during combat. Again, all you percieve is a cluster**** of greyed out icons flashing every 1.5 seconds and if that ain't gamebreaking then I don't know what gamebreaking is. As things are now, the only way to tell abilitiess apart is by studying your keybind text. That may be fine and dandy if you play at resolutions of 800x600 but not when your resolution is 2K/HD.
  20. But you're wrong. Ability icons used to light up instantly after their CD was up, now they stay dark for a second after each GCD as they gradually fade back in to being lit. The current GCD have all icons flash and go dark and that alone is gamebreaking for any melee class who is using his or hers instant action abilities non-stop as you never get to the point of having your icons light up during combat, all you sense is a cluster**** of dark/several shades of greyed out icons. Blue CD fader on top of blue icons (for those who have that) is not the best design either. It's confussing and gives you a headache at best as you cannot plan ahead.
