  1. For me it's all of the clipping of the graphics in the game, especially with armor like lower-robes clipping through the upper robes on Jedi characters or a belt clipping through the back of the jacket on other characters. I've noticed Keelesh NPCs are pretty bad too because their tusks often clip straight into their necks. Some clipping is pretty unavoidable, like on speeders or with Twi'lek lekku, but there's so much of it in the game that should be avoidable.
  2. It's all those side-quests with alien dialogue and canned player responses... having to listen to yet another alien go "rana boon woomie koorah..." and then hear my character say the same line I've heard him say a hundred times before. It's not so bad the first time through the game, but if you play multiple characters those bits are quite dull. Still it's better than a block of text like you get in many other MMOs, and the class story and the main mission chain for each planet are always enjoyable. But if you want to play 1-50 while being able to skip a lot of those side missions, I think you have to go with the subscription. Not only do you avoid the 25% XP reduction, but also lots of other annoyances that would slow down your progress, and with the monthly stipend of CC you can buy batches of 25% XP boosts. Along with Legacy XP boosts and occasional flashpoints/warzones/space missions you can very easily bypass all of those side-missions as a subscriber.
  3. The question about what he was drinking in his glass was deemed of higher importance to the community.
  4. I wish they would put global versions of some of the single-character Legacy unlocks on the cartel market, like the XP boosts and speeder perks. I'd scoop that up because I'm an alt-o-holic and I'm terrible at earning credits. Maybe I'll get lucky with those cartel gamble packs, get a super rare item that I don't want, and sell it for a fortune to some wealthy sucker on the GTN.
  5. So I'm not the only one who thinks that all of the Consular armor in the game is ugly as sin? I'm definitely buying XP boosts Probably some armor for my Consular Maybe one or two of those cartel packs Save the rest for more XP boosts later, or other stuff
  6. Nah. Personally, I'd rather we get Togruta, Chagrian, Nautolan, and/or Devaronian.
  7. Well, there's some talk now that Makeb is going to be sold as an expansion, and they've said there is no class-specific story content in Makeb, but maybe they will add class-story content if they do decide to make it an expansion.
  8. Regarding Topic #2: Bugs I think most people understand that new bugs may crop up when a new update is released, and hopefully they get fixed within a few days or a week. What bothers me are the bugs that have always been in the game since the day the game was released: things like NPC conversations playing loudly after you move out of earshot of the conversation, companion UI disappearing after a story cut scene, companions wigging out and/or running away when you try to use a lift, clipping issues on character armor, etc. There are plenty of bugs like this that have been in the game forever. Most of these old bugs are not critical, but they are still bugs and for them to have lasted this long implies that Bioware simply doesn't care enough to be bothered to fix them. I think most of us have just gotten used to them by now, but they are still BUGS and they contribute to an overall "unpolished" feel to the game.
  9. What, didn't you hear about the 10 new space missions coming in 1.5? You thought there was something else? You silly...
  10. I have this concern about the story content, too. I think the source of these concerns come from interviews at Gamescom... here are some of the quotes when they were specifically asked about story: Matthew Bromberg, GM of Bioware Austin: http://vid.buffed.de/video/10222/SWTOR-Interview-mit-Bioware-zur-Zukunft-des-Star-WarsMMORPGs Jeff Hickman, Executive Producer: http://vid.buffed.de/video/10276/SWTOR-Interview-mit-Executive-Producer-Jeff-Hickman He was specifically asked about the above interview, and what the future holds for the story content: So they're not going to come out and say "yep, class story content is on the backburner, don't hold your breath story fans!" But if you read between the lines, yeah they're clearly focused hard on warzones, operations and group events, and story is a side thing now.
  11. Oh OK thanks... I'm not on the test server, and it looks like this link has newer info than what I had.
  12. The Death Star battle is about the only really significant space battle in all of the movies. That's fine that it's memorable to you, but how does the current space missions not match up with the Death Star battle? Basically they fly around the space station, blow up some enemy ships along the way, then blow up the station and leave. The current space missions have all of that and then some. Star Wars is certainly not about space exploration which seems to be what people want... to be able to fly around space freely, and make discoveries or something. There's another game called Star Trek Online you might be more interested in. What little space combat there is in Star Wars is like "arcade shooter" space combat very similar to what is currently in SWTOR, not space exploration like Star Trek.
  13. It's already there on the Cartel Market (on test server)... 350CC to unlock a species. I'm sure the option to do it by getting to level 50 with that species or buying it with credits will still be there, too.
  14. This is exactly right, I feel the same. I canceled my sub several months ago, planning to come back when the game went F2P, but I very quickly realized that my options are still to sub or quit. Playing as a Free Player is just too unappealing with the amount and the type of restrictions they are putting on it. So then, what's the point? All of the work they are doing to make the game F2P is wasted, because I can't see anyone putting up with all of the handicaps they are putting on Free Players. Hijacking the UI is unbelievable and the best example. They are showing a willingness to openly worsen the quality of the game at a very basic level just to "penalize" a Free Player. Rather than selling valuable & enjoyable content to Free Players, they are mostly just selling options to remove the handcuffs on F2P. I can't imagine paying money to unlock a game's UI. That's crazy. I couldn't bring myself to spend a dime on something like that, just on principal. If people do buy UI bars, they will be doing so with an awful taste in their mouth. They are putting all their effort into making sure subscriptions are still a good value, but they are forgetting to make what they sell to Free Players on the Cartel Market a good value, too. So the game is basically still just a subscription game with a free demo.
  15. IMO, Star Wars isn't about space combat. There aren't that many space battles in the movies. There is probably more space combat in one episode of Battlestar Galactica than in all six Star Wars movies combined. Star Wars is primarily about the characters, and lightsaber and blaster fights. SWTOR delivers on that. Space combat is in its rightful place in SWTOR as a minor diversion, because that's really all it is in the Star Wars movies. I don't care if they never expand on it.
  16. I see that several people posting in this thread here have the same concern as me: story. My biggest concern is that the feature of SWTOR that Bioware constantly talked about leading up to the game's release has now been all but shelved. This would be a disaster for the game, because I think cinematic story-telling is still the strength of the game and of Bioware. I worry that Bioware may be changing the direction of game more toward a "gear grind" or a more typical MMO in which story is a minor feature for people to play around with when they aren't doing hardcore raiding or PvP. When the lead writer suddenly left, that did a lot to reinforce this concern. I thought SWTOR was going to be different, but I'm concerned that we're getting on that same "treadmill" that I have seen in so many other MMORPGs. If Bioware does want to keep the class stories going, why haven't we heard about any plans for it? Bioware reps have said that Makeb will not have any class story content, so this leaves folks like me concerned about the future of the game. I'm sure the planet-story for Makeb is great, but that's a poor substitute for extending the class stories, and the longer it takes to get new class story content, the less connected we will be with those characters. I'm already starting to forget a lot of details about the first character I played to level 50.
  17. This was asked before in a Q&A. Any Legacy perks that you unlock stay unlocked even if you delete the character.
  18. I just did that mission yesterday and saw the same blob thing on all of my companions except Torian. I didn't look at it close enough to see the "missing granny" bit... that's funny. IMO, it's ugly bugs like this that are a big reason why SWTOR isn't the success it could have been. There's simply no excuse for it at this point.
  19. Space missions. If you are only looking for a trickle that is quick and easy to do without having to run around the galaxy, that is exactly what space missions can do for you right now. Once the next patch hits, space missions will be an even better source for quick money making. You can make about 25k in 15 minutes on the two high level space missions that are currently available. That's not a lot, but the next patch is adding 10 new high level space missions which should be pretty decent money makers.
  20. Seems unlikely to me that this is an accidental bug... my guess is they removed her on purpose, either because some people didn't like it, or to render one less model to improve the game's performance (probably by about a third of a frame per second). The problem is now it's almost impossible to tell when an enemy is being mez'd by Theran. Bioware, if you are going to remove the graphic on an ability, you have to replace it with something else so we still have visual queues. Although personally I liked it the way it was before. Thanks.
  21. I played Sniper to 50, but I recommend operative if you plan to play solo much, and for a better leveling experience. As a sniper, you'll generally be stuck with the same companion all the time (the healer) or have a lot of downtime to constantly regen your health. I don't PvP much, but sniper is supposedly very good in PvP. However, Operative is no slouch and can also spec healing, so you have more options there. Sniper can only be DPS.

I like it, it's nice to have a change of pace in the middle of the game, and something quick before Hoth which is such a long marathon.
  23. I seriously doubt they would consider charging for Makeb if it wasn't a very significant amount of content. There are a lot of assumptions being made without any information. It takes a lot of missions to gain 5 more levels after level 50, and a major planet in SWTOR is a lot bigger than a zone in WoW or other MMOs. My concern would be with the class stories. I think that any paid expansion for SWTOR must have unique story content for each class, not just one story that is repeated 8 times with a few lines of dialogue being the only difference. The unique class stories are the biggest selling point of SWTOR, and to abandon it in the first expansion would be a very unpopular move. It's OK for the Makeb story-line to be the same across all classes, but if it is sold as an expansion there must be additional story content for each class that is unique to that class, maybe something involving a companion character or a new companion for each class, etc. If it covers those bases, then I'm OK with them charging for it. There is a possibility that they are considering charging a small fee for it, like maybe $10 worth of Cartel Coins, but that would be a bad idea. At that price it would clearly be a content update not an expansion, and according to their own promises, content updates must be free for subscribers.
  24. I didn't think cross-server grouping was necessary, but after trying to use the LFG tool and waiting 30-40 minutes for a group to form, I've changed my mind. If the problem is that people aren't using it, I'd say the reward for doing a random flashpoint isn't good enough, particularly for lower-level flashpoints. After finishing a planet, I usually have more planetary commendations than I need for the items I want. And if I'm running flashpoints, I'm probably getting better gear from them than what I can buy with commendations anyway. So 5 Balmorra Commendations are almost worthless. Since the game has such an emphasis on credit sinks, I suggest replacing or changing the commendations bonus to a credit bonus, and maybe an XP bonus too for lower-level queuing. That might encourage players to use it more.
  25. Credit sinks are important, certainly. But they should be aimed towards players who have credits. What a concept! Players who mainly play their level 50 characters, doing Operations, Flashpoints, Dailys and PvP are probably loaded. But they're not going to be very interested in the Legacy perks and unlocks. Not a single one of them provides an advantage in any endgame scenario. Legacy is a credit sink specifically targeting players who don't have any credits. I disagree with you here. I don't think the perks should be affordable a brand new player. In fact, I think they could even lock the perks until you have one level 50 in your Legacy. The whole point of the Legacy perks, as I see it, is to make subsequent trips through the content less tedious by allowing you to skip content that you did before and don't want to do again. You can focus instead on just doing the things you like to do, whether it be PvP, Flashpoints or Story Missions. The first time through you should experience everything. You're still going to spend over half a million for that (~250k for story mode perks, ~350k for companion perks, 40k first speeder). If you have just two alts, you're well over a million. You will have to be among the top 10% richest in the game (according to some reports) to afford that. And IMO your example is a very conservative use of the Legacy perks.
