Or that is you don't have the same upgrades. There are four combinations of upgrades : 4A-5A 4A-5B 4B-5A 4B-5B.
Unless you've tried all of them, the upgrade cause is still plausible.
Anyone willing to take 15% range on a scout over cirt and surge, is welcome to some lag...
Oh yeah and I never said it couldn't be the upgrades, just was more likely the player's computer setup.
-
I tried out Targeting Telemetry, un-upgraded, on an alt. There is no framerate drop. The bug is certainly due to the graphical effect applied after one of the later TT upgrades.
I have fully upgraded TTs on most ships that can use them. I see no drop in frame rate at all, so more likely it is more computer hardware/software related than upgrade related.

I mostly fly primary strike fighters, but I've been considering trying out a pike with clusters, concussion missiles, and ion cannons. On my starguard/enforcer I dont have much of a problem even getting concussion locks at close range, I've had a ton of practice with them, so getting a lock at close range with clusters should be easy enough for me, and the ion cannons can zap away shields in a couple of hits.
They cannot use Ion cannons.

The problem is that Protons don't do damage to the shields... so sure you're doing hull damage, but you've still got 2500+ shields to get through. I'm not saying their worthless... just that PT's are not the perfect anti-bomber weapons some thought they might be.
But 1/3 or 1/2 a hull destroyed with one hit? They are not going to make a proton torp more powerful than it already is. It is a game balance issue more than a lore issue.

I think that the system is counting you "AFK" if you do not respawn immediately when the cooldown timer is at zero. Sometimes I check the map for a second before clicking "ready" so I've seen it there, and as soon as I click ready I am "no longer AFK".
My problems with the non-contributor system are two fold:
1. Flying a bomber is slow and not particularly "offensive". I frequently get the non-contributor message when respawning and heading back to the action. Maybe there should be some sort of check that you are indeed closing distance to your target or the nearest enemy? Picking up a powerup should also count as "contributing". (If for no other reason for denying it to the enemy) Guarding a gunship or two with a drone/mine layer is contributing!
2. A non-contributor (either not spawning or just flying in circles away from the match) is hurting your side by leaving your team outnumbered more than it should be. Simply taking some reward away from the non-contributor is not enough. Getting them *out* of the match is what would help the most. Note this only applies if you don't get "wonky" messages saying you are not contributing when, you are.

A good crit from a Proton Torpedo (for which there is only a 10% chance) does 1308 damage. A Bomber with 2400 hull will still take 3 PT's to destroy, even if one crits.
This is the equivalent of saying that ions are terrible because they do no damage to the hull.
Anyone who waits for proton torpedoes to reload as their sole source of damage is a fool. But you knew that, so I am really wondering what the reasoning behind your post actually was?

Is it? I dunno... it just seems wrong to me that in a player versus player match, you can yell "HOME BASE" and run back to where an NPC will protect you.
Couldn't agree more...

It's pretty much entirely a gear gap. I don't know what you're talking about. Just looking at come of the components and their upgrades, it's practically impossible for a new player to kill a vet short of finding the one "vet" whose GSF days played is higher than their IQ.
Sure, there's a learning curve, but don't act like the gear gap isn't tremendous.
Absolutely NOT a gear gap in comparison to the skill/experience gap.
Stop thinking that we were all this good (but on lesser ships) Dec 4th...
-
Sad, but your points are kinda overshadowed by your tone. Try constructive criticisms and/or suggestions. Be open to others' suggestions as well.
Oh and your point about not getting better gear for time served in the military is true, but you ever play Battlefield, COD, etc? Same thing.. it is a game thing... reward for playing keeps people here.... it is that upgrade reward that is working at the moment.

I've been trying out concussion/proton, and that is actually good for always having a threat you can pull out- but it's just so bad at locking on at close.
That's why with those two missile types you hang back and focus on the ones who are dogfighting another player. Also, lockdown is a wonderful tool to help one land, drop a -40 points engine power on a guy who just boosted to the fight and he won't have engine to evade.
-
... or allow me to buy a second Blackbolt for my Active Ships list so I can have the ship I like with access to multiple loadouts...
^^^ This
Also, it is a way to passively extend the game since this will require more ship requisition.
-
I've also noticed this; it's happened to me twice lately, and never happened before that so I am wondering if they've introduced a bug. I'll be locked on so use retro thrusters, and while shooting forward after the back, the missile will hit me anyway... it makes no sense, I don't think it's lag because that's a fair way into the manouevre for it to hit because of that?
The missile animation will still "hit" you, but you should not take damage if you successfully break a lock. No having said that the double volley cluster missiles are bugged and the break only stops the 1st damage tick (of the 2, equal amounts) from doing damage.

If a premade is in, they are on their own VOIP anyway, making it pointless to try to talk to them, because why *would* they have it on and be on their own VOIP at the same time?
So ... you argue that some people (that play GSF) use VOIP, be it Mumble, Teamspeak, Ventrillo, whatever. And yet your original post, said that nobody would use VOIP.
You can't see the advantage of being able to talk like those who are using them already? Would someone offer up and post server info and get people to join for a PUG match? Nope! Would those PUGs use one that was provided in game? Yep! Or at least maybe!
Quite simply, you immediately shot down a valid suggestion as saying most people would not use it. How do you know what "most people" would or would not use?
-
Then you should probably buy glasses or take some reading comprehension lessons?
Or maybe you could take your sanctimonious attitude and shove it?
Cause I sure didn't post my original thought of "So which are you? The retard or the terrible noob?"
-
"Spiraling" is adorable and I love watching people fly around like drunken maniacs when I pop them in the face with my OP'd rail and they die anyway xD.
Maybe you can hit something coming at you in a growing spiral, but most humans have trouble with that one...
Or maybe "drunken maniacs" aren't doing it right...

Would be nice if they were color coded or something - ion weapons could show a more blue ring or something, while blasters show red?
I don't disagree with your premise/suggestion, but there is a symbol next to your missile count that is the currently selected weapon. And in the case of ion vs quads there are differences in the symbol.
-
Yeah cause some retard screaming into a mic how everyone else is a terrible noob is so awesome and helps tons.
No. You'll only end up with everyone muting the VOIP.
Wow.... "I won't use it, so nobody would either."
That's what I just read in your post...
-
/agree
But I am not getting my hopes up that in-game VOIP support is coming...
-
1. Full power to engines, boost straight head-on
2. Get within 10,000m, full power to shields and hit charged plating.
1. NEVER arrive to a fight out of engines if you can help it...
2. Spiral toward him as you boost.
-
Kills and assists are worth the same requisition... so why are you complaining?
By the way a better football analogy would be 2 defenders fighting over who got the "tackle". Doesn't matter, nobody cares, look to your damage output to see how well you did that match (unless you are playing a support bomber I guess).
-
The scoreboard has 3 tabs on the top.. click the right one to see how you earn requisition.
-
Or possibly a simpler solution... give us a new keybind (that we can remap) to "target nearest friendly repair drone"
-
The drones are so tiny that at 15k range it is almost impossible to hit without a super high resolution screen and a good mouse. (ive got a 1080p 26" monitor and a SWTOR razer mouse and have problems...)
Mousewheel in (zoom) while scoping. You're welcome.

But I think you should only know the player's name, not the specific ship they are currently using. It can be used as an element of surprise work both ways.
Actually I'd like to see the opposite, how does the enemy know who is flying this (insert ship type here)? Makes no sense, and it encourages ganking of certain names when seen.

Totally agree...
But unfortunately, this has been suggested multiple times. With nothing from the Dev's about it, I fear it is falling on deaf ears.
