  1. Nah, there's being cynical then there is simply knowing the type of mods who run around these forums. Not to mention the trolls who will pick apart the post simply cause they can. In any event I think it's a good idea but often it's hard to get people to uproot when they've already settled on a server. It's why mergers make more sense at this point.
  2. Have you played on each and every other server in the game to a respectable level? if not, how can you or anyone else know if it's 'the best' and the best at what exactly?
  3. probably down the line when they start needing more money via microtransactions. Course I wouldn't bother unless it was after the introduction of new species/races.
  4. I've seen a lot of posts which would have made for some interesting discussions get closed. Anything negative about the game is seen as "not being constructive" this actually led to my signature since I noticed this pattern in threads for some time now.
  5. This has been brought up in other threads. the filter just scours out "undesirable" words, whether in whole or in pieces, no matter if the word itself is not offensive in nature. Though virginia is a stupid example honestly, as virgin is not an offensive word. It's just bioware's filters being overzealous, much like it's forum mods.
  6. There isn't enough in this patch that will make me create another alt. Maybe when entirely new species are introduced sure, but just a rehash of what we're already playing? nah.
  7. you hit the nail on the head. it makes no difference what bioware does, people will whine. Too few servers, now there's too many servers. People need to shut up honestly and pick one complaint and stick with it.
  8. While I agree same faction WZs are lame, this is precisely the reason they are needed. You can't blame bioware because the players all piled up in one faction.
  9. Precisely, especially when you already take the time to write out every other word just fine.
  10. Mostly it's to get away from folks who can't be bothered to spell "people" Seriously though, the game is about choice, any game really. People play mmos for various reasons, some enjoy grouping, some like guilds. There are also those who like things inbetween. Me, I enjoy grouping with friends, however as of late, I can't stand guilds. Most of the ones I've been in, you may as well solo. Most of them never do anything together, and you only see someone speak up when "they" need something from a heroic or an instance. Of course not all are like that but it's too difficult to weed out the decent ones, you can never tell from the outside looking in.
  11. It's true though. It was all a gamble really what server you picked. One can either wait for a merger, or just reroll. Logically it's just faster than waiting on BW. That's not being a choad either, it really is the best advice, that or just rant at the issue.
  12. How is it immersion breaking? Just as jedi fall to the dark, there are those who are also redeemed. Or simply cause you were born with the markings doesn't mean you were raised in the sith order. One could make up any excuse really, it's not set in stone...in fact It isn't immersion breaking at all.
  13. Except no company does this, YOU have to take steps to use whatever product that gives out your real name. With real ID YOU had to set it up where other people could know your name, etc etc. Don't blame the company for this. The user has the option to not use these features.
  14. precisely. Why would you invite a buncha people, using a "friend" invite if you don't want them to know who you are? If you're that concerned with your identity, perhaps it's best if you just avoid that route.
  15. I'm not, I got 6 months because I had high hopes for the game. I'm not playing because I can barely manage it. Things like lag, frame rate issues etc etc. My system is pretty decent too, put it together only about 6 months ago. Performance aside, i still have the problem of my characters mysteriously getting lightside/darkside points without taking those choices (no they don't have diplomacy)
  16. I dunno people's obsession with sub numbers. I honestly couldn't care less, it could have 10 million players, but I can't get past the bugs that have been plaguing my characters. That and other glaring issues with the game currently.
  17. They were anti social because they didn't live up to another players preconceptions? Can be the most social person in the world, but if you don't feel like doing something at that moment, you just don't. That being said, there is no point in grouping up for normal quests. I move faster doing them on my own, especially on those quests where you have to share objective items. Also chances are, since I have so many alts, I have seen/heard the quests before, and most I group with don't skip these. That is fine for them if they haven't seen them, but I have, and usually don't want to relive them. I have no problems with interacting with other players, but when I'm out and about just doing my quests, I see no need to group. i just pop open general chat if I want to shoot the crap.
  18. They can see through the force yes, but that doesn't exactly translate well when using a tool like a sniper rifle. For all your force prowess it won't help when trying to work the scope.
  19. In response to 1. No one was really expecting the sun on a platter here or a ticker tape parade just for buying the CE. However you have to admit that a set of imperial trooper armor is just downright lame. In addition, there aren't extra customization options for all companions, just a couple of them, and they barely look different if at all from what you'd normally get. In response to 2. You can think of 100 million things for someone else to do, but in the end you don't get to dictate what someone else does with their free time, just as I'm sure you don't want someone dictating what you do with yours (which is also apparently scouring the forums when there is a game to be played).
  20. That's all fine and well. For me though, it was pretty much the in game store. The physical items were alright, but hardly worth 'collecting', it'll hold no value or meaning to anyone 10 or 20 years down the line. A statue of a character, made up for an mmo. It's not like having iconic memorabilia from the original movies. Heck everyone who's seen my statue asked me where'd I get the statue of vader without his helmet >.>
  21. sith pureblood jedi, now that's gotta be worth making an alt for maybe.
  22. I doubt it. Lot of folks have six month subs, so they pretty much got til june to shape up. mass effect 3 unlocks tonight, so I think people will get by for a bit while they decide how to make this game entertaining.
  23. I did this for a while because with a lot of the classes, things REALLY get stale after act 1. There are some exceptions. I'd say smuggler is probably in my opinion, one of the couple that remain fresh and entertaining.
  24. People tend to think that it means a person hates a game because they criticize it. That you have to accept whatever comes with the package, or you're just a troll or worse. I don't hate TOR, but I know it needs work to be good. I actually hope it gets better and thrives. I just can't put blinders on and ignore the bugs, or poor design, or the lack of what should be standard features for a modern mmo and call this a great game when it just isn't.
  25. Not alone, but certainly away from the general lot who play these games these days, as you pointed out, look at general chat, and there is no wonder why there is a desire to avoid such things.
