  1. Precisely, these posts are as bad as people who just exist to bash the game. everyone has their opinions, and some people have legit beefs. I can point out several bugs 'still' affecting my character, like the alignment problem I've pointed out several times to the CSRs. Having a negative view of a game doesn't make a person a troll automatically. In fact a lot of people who want the game to do well, will look at it from an objective position and focus on what is needed to make it a great game. SWTOR doesn't benefit from blind rear kissing.
  2. There was a soundtrack that came with the collector's edition. Not sure if it has the combat music on it though, I haven't even listened to any of the disks yet and I've had them close to 3 months now.
  3. pretty sure your wish is being fulfilled. You and the 3 other people on your current planet can have a party.
  4. That is not the case here, I already knew going in, this wasn't going to be an earth shattering mmo, I haven't thought that of "any" mmo. You DO expect an mmo to be decent enough to keep playing however, so if that makes me a lemming or a bandwagoneer, then I'll gladly be one for thinking a game should, you know, be entertaining.
  5. Dunno why people call this a wow clone, it's not. WoW was an engaging game for it's time. Enough so that I actually stuck with it from vanilla through wrath (cata killed that though) It's all I really expect from TOR, keep me engaged so that I want to see how the game evolves, and be here through it's expansions. Even swg kept me hooked at least until shortly after rage of the wookies came out.
  6. True enough. I never did mind working towards something in an mmo, but yeah TOR's problem is that it has no variety. Quest objectives don't change at all really from 1-50 (wipe out 30 of these, collect 10 of this, activate these 4 objects) This is especially disturbing when playing a jedi. yes they are warriors and they fight when they have to, but most of the time they are diplomats and mediators, and it would be nice to have more content to reflect that. I was also disappointed with the sith inquisitor. Bioware's old trailers made them out to be these master manipulators, whispering in the ears of powerful figures instead... That wasn't a case of having unreasonable expectations, since they presented the class exactly that way.
  7. true enough, i hear what you're saying even if the other posters don't. Having options of things to do during offtimes would be nice. Like you mention here, there was fishing, or achievement hunting, gathering resources yourself, etc etc. Other games have things like this. Would be nice if they'd bring similar things to TOR.
  8. yeah I always wondered what was the logic of allowing us to use weapons besides sabers, then limiting some of our abilities to only lightsabers.
  9. It's a legitimate gripe. though on some planets, it sorta makes sense. For example, Taris Imperial side. One has to imagine that most of the facilities that would exist to dock and house ships would have been obliterated in the past, so there aren't many places to lodge ships of significant size.
  10. Yeah I gotta chime in too and say Kaliyo, she really doesn't fit into the typical role you see women thrust into in bioware games. She's what jack from ME 2 shoulda been, not angsty and whiny.
  11. Been playing mmos since Anarchy online first came out. TOR wasn't my first launch and it won't be my last. There have been plenty of games that have done it better right out of the box. I'm not talking about things that always come with time, like raids and other garbage, I'm speaking of how the game itself plays out, the combat, and how well the game draws you into it's system. It's social aspects, or even it's economic aspects and how players engage each other and trade goods etc. Then there are features which you think should just be standard to a game in this era of mmos, like target of target, a UI you can actually do useful things with, to meet how different people play. Now some games didn't have this at launch, but that is my point. if you know how important a feature is to players, why not have it in before you send your product out of the door? When you look at the mmos of the past, when they lacked certain features, it's because they weren't timely. They came along as player needs and tastes evolved, so now you have a set standard. It's why as I said, TOR has no excuse in this regard.
  12. ughhh, another one of these posts. "this game is x months old" is quite tired, and it isn't an excuse for sorry gameplay. No mmo is gonna be perfect, that won't happen. However it doesn't mean that an mmo should be lacking as much as TOR does out of the gate. The idea is to engage the person enough to where they say "ok, I can stick with this, see where they're headed" It may be that way to some, but for me personally, it's just not the case. I still have a few months on my subscription so I've been waiting on the sidelines, hoping the legacy system and other game tweaks will spice up this dish. New mmos have the luxury of looking at their predecessors and learning quickly from what took them 2 or 3 expansions to do. Game age just isn't an excuse anymore in this generation of mmos, they know what's been tried and tested already.
  13. Love how casual has become interchangeable with non raider, actually as I have stated in posts before, the labels are quite stupid and don't encapsulate varying playstyles.
  14. A cinematic is a tool like anything else. It's only as good as the person wielding it. if they ham fist cinematics into a game, it can feel tedious and drawn out, taking you out of the gameplay. TOR manages to do a good job with their cutscenes, they're entertaining and they (in class stories anyway) move things forward. However this has come at the expense of gameplay for me. Once I exit a good class quest and then have to do all the little side quests, watching the cutscenes and dialogue just grows very monotonous, except in a few cases where the exchange is actually witty or amusing.
  15. No, jedi kill as a last resort, usually in defense of themselves and others. Even if the npc is a criminal or some such, just randomly killing them would be a dark side action. At least as normal starwars logic goes, but this being an mmo, you attack people all the time offensively. Other classes doing so would be just as bad, then you're a vigilante, heh.
  16. Your latter comments, that's my major issue with the game. You have a good story, great story really, but then gameplay is rather unimpressive, the lack of true variety in the types of quests you do also kinda churns on one's mind after the 30th time.. Swtor has a lot of sizzle but no steak. It's still a decent game, it's just not a great one to me.
  17. As a parent, I don't want my kids exposed to such naughty words as virginia! This country is going down the tubes I say.
  18. Apparently they are bringing back a feature that was present in beta that allowed you to color match your gear to your chest piece. It should at least help while leveling up, when one switches gear often every other level.
  19. 1. new races 2. some sort of mini games or social activities. 3. Bug fixes, including the alignment bug which has haunted me for a while now. Don't really give a crap about anything else since it's bound to be addressed as the mmo ages.
  20. There really is no way to police it, it's mostly scare tactics. besides, silly to get behind a company who's peripherals have macroing capabilities then have such a staunch stance against automation.
  21. why would they go through the trouble of marketing a mouse around swtor if it wasn't legal to use... That said, I use a naga myself, best mouse I ever had. Didn't bother with the star wars one though, it's color didn't match my other gaming equipment (it's all black) so I got the molten instead. edited to add: How would they know you're using it anyway?
  22. He's right though, it's just not a great game. it's very decent however. It has good story, quite good but when you strip that away, you have a very bare bones mmo experience. I don't hate the game or anything but I realize that it really can't be considered great, not yet anyway, maybe as time goes on. Initial sales of the game are good, but it's maintaining those subscriptions which is the important thing.
  23. I have my issues with the game, but this is nitpicking on the grandest scale. there is little difference between that video and how the game plays now, barring the models being updated and things being smoothed out with the black talon.
  24. It was already stated to players that they'll only add races 'you can picture princess leia kissing" So I wouldn't expect things like bothans, or rodians, etc etc. You might get things like togruta which closely resemble twi'leks. I wouldn't hold my breath for wookies, duros and stuff like that. Also romance has been a part of various works since humans could first write, or sculpt, or express themselves in any way. I take it you don't bother with any of these things, very short sighted.
  25. I preordered the CE and I regret it. The store has nothing in it except a couple of extra companion "skins" and a set of imperial trooper armor for sith side, and some republic agent armor for republic side, both look utterly ridiculous on most classes and I have yet to see anyone sporting a full set. The statue is decent if you really like things like that, but everything else was rather forgettable. The digital deluxe version of the game will give you all the decent stuff from the CE.
