  1. Some encounters are mis-labeled or out of tune. For example, there's a +2 on Balmorra (iirc) that has +4 pulls (2 gold and 3 silver I think it was). Abused the entrance aggro drop to beat the first pack, but the second was the same, so I ditched it. And the optional quest line with 2 silvers dropping down on Voss has something notably funky with their damage output. Anyway, it's kinda easy to see the spots where there's some incongruity in design, but most of the solo lines are very accessible. With sage, LOS/kiting abuse is typically the answer to anything challenging. With shadow, kinetic and managing Holiday trivializes champion fights.
  2. Would be interesting to see if the basic premise of this thread is correct to a large extent. BW probably won't ever tell us if a lot of people are actually dropping their 50s and only pvping on the sub-50s of an account, but it would be interesting to know.
  3. It breaks my immersion to walk through empty zones while not advancing a story line. The few times something actually happens in spaceports/orbital stations, they're perfectly fine. The rest of the time, they're scenes that should be edited out of the movie.
  4. Yeah. This one was pretty annoying. Not even a dialogue option at Fleet. Just click one guy and go right back.
  5. http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=65358 Page 2 has a good summary.
  6. It will give you greater knowledge and appreciation of your spec choices. It's worth trying out at least. I personally find healing to be fun in pvp and incredibly boring in pve. But that applies to all healing classes, not just trooper. YMMV.
  7. Having fun is doing it right, but yeah, you'll massively outlevel the content. If you would derive more fun from engaging in at least mildly challenging combat scenarios while questing, you're not maximizing your fun.
  8. Is this a choose your own adventure book, or a game we're supposedly playing? They could allow for some eeensy teensy wittle bit of actual play to make a difference in the story. Instead they provide an obviously false dilemma, purely for the sake of the dilemma.
  9. You're driving a car. There's a dog in the road. Do you hit the dog or swerve into a pedestrian? Err. Maybe I try to avoid the dog, but make sure to not hit the pedestrian? NO DO YOU HIT THE DOG OR THE PEDESTRIAN??? Umm. Ok I hit the dog. Hurp durp.
  10. Everyone wants something they have to try hard at, but can overcome. Defining "try hard" is pretty tough though. For some folks, trying hard might be defeating 2 silvers with 2 players + 2 pets. For others it might require optimization in every respect (gear, group mix, priorities, consumables, binds, movement, etc) to find a challenge. They might require fights the game designers themselves can't complete.
  11. How about the hundreds of other websites that have posted the same story? Your local FOX affiliate probably has it too.
  12. Several people in my guild enjoy it. I do not. Optional is what it is.
  13. Would be nice. Also a problem in this respect, for a couple reasons: full auto
  14. It's an "optional" quest in a class quest line. Complete the class quest and you can't go back.. but the optional quest is still there, and you can't drop it. It's seriously not a big deal. I have maybe 5 quests in my log. And it's known and reported often. I have faith it will be fixed eventually. But I imagine if a player picked up 10+ of these sort of things, and was also collecting a bunch of quests, it could get pretty annoying. The tone in the OP, especially the thread title, was all wrong, but this is a real issue that hopefully gets patched up soon. Edit: looks like the title got fixed. so now all should be right in the world
  15. I have a quest I can't drop and can't possibly complete, since I'm unable to access the area. /sigh It's not a big deal. /sigh
  16. It will get closed because it's FREAKING OUT and using profanity on forums over a bug. Anyway, I also find this bug annoying, but it's obviously a bug and they're working on it. If your log is full of grayed-out quests, probably need to ask a GM for help with that. Good luck.
  17. It should. It's accessible (AbleGamers award), relatively simple, and has a lot of cutscenes. It's a solid game for a single playthrough (or trying multiple classes). That's what I'd guess most first-time "casual" game purchasers are looking for. Not a new home for years, but a game they can enjoy for a few weeks then put down with the rest of the games they purchase. The positive reviews are all about playing for a bit while leveling up and following the storyline.
  18. This AP review is also provided on hundreds of other news and blog websites. It's not produced or modified or commented on by NPR. It's one of thousands of AP pieces reprinted on NPR.
  19. Combat logs are coming. That said, a chance to beat up on the droid for a while would be welcome. I don't even care if he tells me how much damage I did.
  20. That's simply not true. They don't "endorse" every reprinted AP story on their website. They just reprint them.
  21. Dead? No. Can quest for an hour without seeing another player? Yes. Guess it all depends on definitions.
  22. This. Thread title is misleading. Anyway, was a decent review. Seemed like someone who was playing this game with a 1-playthrough perspective, rather than a "I want to play this for years" perspective. As an AP game reviewer probably should.
  23. "Romance" and "flirt" are inconsequential, with very little detail, in this game. There's no need to put extra acting in. Just provide the "flirt" option for both males and females. The responses, faces getting close, fade to black, etc don't even need to change. Any morality concern is hilarious in this T&A festival of a game.
