  1. This game is very CPU-dependent. Great video cards won't help that much when there's a lot of activity going on near you. That's why voidstar has lower framerates than say Novare Coast, because everyone's in the same area at all times, all 16 of them. That's why you experience dips in FPS on fleet, other populated areas, or when people log in near you. I have an old E6400 at 3.1GHz, a 560Ti-448cores Nvidia card, 4GB of RAM and a SSD, and I get about 14-40FPS in warzones depending on the action near me. I keep shadows off and the graphics settings as lame as possible.
  2. The voice is that of the mystic at the base they all regroup at. It's not Carrie Fisher's voice.
  3. If you love your specialization and are good at it or believe you can be, consider swapping in some alacrity for some crit. Not a lot, just what you need to not run out of MP in a heavy fight. I'm a hatred spec assassin and if I have less than 3 alacrity mods I can't hit my big moneymakers reliably because I'm too low on MP. I can't imagine that more than 3 or 4 alacrity mods would be needed to not run out of MP. Yes, your damage may technically go down slightly, but that's not the case if you're unable to cast now when you need to. Plus, the global cooldown will decrease so it's not as bad a hit in your dps/dmg as you might imagine, if you make use of that alacrity to spam spells a lot.
  4. For all those expecting Disney to come up with original new ideas and characters when they could just recycle old ideas and existing characters, I would say you are going to be sorely disappointed. Look into the character of Jacen Solo. Look at what we know about Kylo Ren from the trailers and what we suspect: his familiarity with The Falcon, his obsession with the past and his connection to Anakin Skywalker, which we know because of the Vader mask. They are the same character
  5. Decorations are useless. You've bought into the idea of the ingame credit sink that is strongholds. Influence or decorations. Your choice.
  6. Yes, I seem to get a sort of a first time load delay for sounds the same way there's a first time load delay for animations. I've turned off sound from time to time and found that on my marginal computer it slightly increases FPS. I can play my own music in another application and it doesn't really ding my FPS at all. The impact isn't huge though. But at the beginning of a warzone, say I capture a pylon and the pylon doesn't visually indicate it's captured for a few seconds, well I get a similar effect with sounds sometimes and it's probably only after I've just logged in. In heavy combat too I have the sound sometimes appear to drop out or some of it drop out, and then I get a big burst of loud noise when multiple sounds from multiple attacks get played more or less at once. Again, this is usually only when it's a first WZ after a fresh login. If you play with sounds on, try to preload your own animations before you WZ or just stand around the fleet for a few minutes and you'll probably be exposed to a lot of animations and their sounds, not attacks of course though. It's not a soundcard issue or driver issue. I suspect if I had a fast enough CPU I might not face this issue ever. Mine is running at about 3.1 GHz which is lame by today's standards. But currently I am using USB speakers with their own D/A converter so my computer isn't really being asked to do much if any work in rendering sounds.
  7. It probably differs by server based on multiple factors I couldn't even guess at. On Jung Ma, the Republic was weak and just about every Imp vs Pub WZ I got to triumphantly proclaim, "Another glorious victory for The Empire." On the Ebon Hawk however, as someone on page one indicated, the Pubs are consistently stronger than the Imperials. Also as that poster pointed out the Pubs tend to team queue more often than the Imperials which definitely gives them an advantage over a random assortment of pugs of any faction. I think Pubs tend to be team players more than Imperials, more likely to roll healers too, and that adds up on Ebon Hawk to Imps getting knocked around a bit.
  8. The safest companions should be any companion derived from cartel coins or unlocked from cartel coins, like HK-51 or Treek. I figured the next safest was the ship's droid which due to my game telling me in my ship's droid's description that he may be trying to kill me, I dumped loads of gifts on him and that message disappeared from his biography. Since levelling my ship's droid to lvl 17 though, I got Pierce through his warzones requirement and quickly found that just by warzoning daily as I do my influence with Pierce soon surpassed that of my ship's droid and at 500 influence every win and 250 influence every loss I see no reason to use anyone other than Pierce at this point. He's the one I give gifts to. I GTN the rest.
  9. This is a really thought-provoking thread and like many I thought it was strange to see Marr and Shan, especially considering the state Marr was in, talking calmly as sage allies overlooking the activities of the Outlander. Setting aside for a moment the picture of Marr's face which perhaps weight should not be put on as it was allegedly not intended to be seen, I think it is plausible that Marr and Shan could be related. While Sith force ghosts seem to be bound to the place they are entombed, in the case of the Sith Inquisitor story the one who's not crazy and who isn't completely bound to a physical location is Kallig and he is presumably able to appear to the Inquisitor player because of his familal connection. It would stand to reason then that the reason Marr is able to be seen on the alliance homebase planet instead of wherever his corpse was lain, is possibly because he shares a connection to Shan similar to the connection Kallig shares with the player's Inquisitor character, that of family.
  10. Well the mod that adds 145 mastery and 61 power is weaker than the one that adds 121 mastery and 103 power. The combined total is higher on the one that has more power, and the combined total compared to the one you are replacing is usually a good guesstimate of whether your attack damage and bonus damage will improve by using it. Also you want to buy mods with the lowest amount of endurance on it which will conversely have the highest amount of damage. Some classes get or at least used to get a class or specification specific skill that gave an increase in main stat that was percentage based and was in addition to the 5% mainstat buff that is legacy wide. For those characters, mastery was slightly better than power. For other characters without that extra mainstat (now mastery, I guess) buff, power was superior to stacking mainstat. The only stat that went up for you was HP. I usually look at just base bonus damage and consider that my best oneshot glimpse of my attack power.
  11. It's not on the GTN ingame. If you want to transfer character(s) to a different server, then on this website, click on your name and go to My Account. A subheading there is Character Transfer. It should be self-explanatory from there. Last I checked it was 90 cartel coins per character per transfer. For a very brief time in September or October it was free.
  12. I just saw this same bug yesterday in a Voidstar, first time I have seen it. I took a leap of faith and ran to the other side but it was visually weird.
  13. Well Disney is the IP holder now so yeah it was Disney. I was actually hoping for discussion of the topic, not pilpul about minutiae contained within my post.
  14. Yeah I just saw a guy on Imperial Fleet yesterday who had Marr as his companion. I asked him if he went to extremes to be able to run around with Marr and he replied 'Yes.' so presumably he did the same thing others have pointed to in this thread to keep him.
  15. Yep. He is also known as Darth Caedus and gets his ability to maniupulate the force from Leia. This is presumably why J.J. Abrams disavowed the Expanded Universe as canon, so as to be able to rip off the author of the Thrawn series that introduced the character Jacen Solo and to be better able to recycle rather than to create, as is his forte. Discuss.
  16. I just reskilled choosing a different specialization for my class and found that I am unable to Commit the 7 skill points we get to allocate. Thanks a lot, EA. Great job.
  17. Try PotPlayer by DAUM. It's free. You can save that gold-pressed latinum for other opportunities the Great Material Continuum may offer. I find it has a tiny footprint and makes everything I play sound the best it can. You can even choose WASAPI output. It's great.
  18. You're a troll. There's a button for ViewThisPostAnyway which I availed myself of when I saw the frequency with which you were posting in a thread I was posting in. You seem to want to wise crack a lot. But your humor is based in cruelty and is actually very annoying. Do you punctuate everything you say in real life with a smirk? When someone explains an issue in real life do you typically ignore their points, assume they're incompetent, and then tell them as much? Bugger off. I'm not going to avail myself of ViewThisPostAnyway again.
  19. Worf? Non-human. Airlock. Problem solved. I have nothing against droids. Droids are tools. All cultures use tools.
  20. No, you stepped to me with a Learn-To-Play charge when I was trying to describe my overpowered ship's droid as a companion. You insulted me without cause and in doing so broadcast your lack of understanding of the issue, as well as your eagerness to attack others. Based on this, I ignored your posts. You are the only person on my ignore list in forum.
  21. Not one of mine. I just found it amusing that you described PVP as boring. The only other thing is PVE which is scripted, predictable and therefore - to me - boring.
  22. Thing is though, would you feel the same if EA made it so that anyone who wanted to do a group flashpoint or operation was equally capable of doing so regardless of gear? Or would you feel that was unfair to you because the very reason you do PVE instances is to farm gear to be better at those PVE instances? Would your logic work in reverse regarding participation in PVE regardless of gear, which basically means making the rewards of PVEing not 216 and 220 rated gear, which can only be got from operations and the like. There really are two sets of people, PVE and PVP and each of them would like to participate in the other activity at least a little, at least theoretically, but neither of them seems to want to have the rewards given to them for their preferred activity nerfed in order to do it.
  23. Not nearly as exciting and unpredictable as farming scripted NPCs in PvE, eh?
  24. Yes, I would. I don't think Expertise should exist as a stat ingame. It acts as a barrier to pve'ers trying and enjoying pvp. It acts to ensure anyone wanting to pvp has to build a whole 2nd set of armor just for pvp. The problem with getting rid of Expertise now would be that pve'ers would end up being better than pvp'ers endgame because they have higher armor class ratings and stats on their gear. I'm not sure if that's changed or not. I got a drop today of a 208 rated earpiece or implant and compared it to my 208 rated top level pvp ear/implant and it appeared to me that they had identical stats with the PVP one having 150 expertise on it to boot. Bolster is another weird thing this game has that I think is unnecessary. The only reason the game "needs" bolster is because the game relies on the Expertise stat to define proficiency in PVP. I think EA could get rid of both.
